Aims / Objectives Free Admission to Masters of Hong Kong 2017 (An International Show Jumping Equestrian Event) All Schools are invited to visit the captioned event to help visitors strengthen their understanding and interest in equestrian sports. 2. Background The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) and the Hong Kong Equestrian Federation (HKEF) are close partners in sharing the same dedication on the promotion of equestrian sports amongst the Hong Kong public. Hong Kong co-hosted the 2008 Beijing Olympic Equestrian Events, since then, Hong Kong people have become increasingly aware of equestrian sports. HKEF co-organised the Hong Kong Masters between 2013 to 2016, the HKJC has been providing professional horse transport and veterinarian assistance together with other important supporting services during the event. At the same time, the HKJC has been named as Founding Partner. Hong Kong riders have achieved outstanding performance at the major international and regional competitions in recent years, Hong Kong people are more enthusiastic about the equestrian sports and the sports become more popular. In the 17th Asian Games Incheon 2014, the Equestrian Team made Hong Kong proud once again with an Eventing team bronze medal. 3. The Masters of Hong Kong The Masters of Hong Kong is a top level of 5 stars international show jumping competition and the biggest equestrian event in Asia, also it has been recognised as an M Mark event that helps enhance the image of Hong Kong as Asia s sports event capital. The M Mark awarded by the Major Sports Events Committee, symbolising intense, spectacular and signature event in the territory sports calendar. This prestigious show invites the top world ranked riders as well as Hong Kong s best riders to compete. Jacqueline Lai is once again Hong Kong s representative rider at the Masters after her impressive debut last year. This year in its fifth edition, the event will take place in the Asia World Expo from 10 th to 12 th February 2017 (Fri-Sun). For more details, please refer to the website at: 4. Free admission to the event Sponsored by the HKJC, the HKEF now invites all Schools to visit the event free of charge, with the purpose of helping visitors to broaden their understanding of horses and to further develop their interests in equestrian sports. The activity will include watching the competitions, equestrian entertainments and visiting the exhibition hall at the show venue. 3 * The visiting group may decide for an alternative leaving time. If desired, please indicate the preferred departure time clearly in the enclosed application form. Please note that the above times have been determined according to the current event schedule, additional entertainment may be added closer to the event date. Should there be any changes to the schedule, all visiting group will be contacted immediately. Travelling times between each location and the show venue will depend on the distance and traffic conditions. 5. Main activities Activities included learning the basic knowledge of Equestrian, Do s and Don ts when watching a Jumping competition, visit the event venue and watch international Jumping competition/equestrian performances. 4 6. How to apply 7. Transportation arrangements A free shuttle bus service will be provided between the show venue and the appointed location. For the group with less than 30 participants, a free shuttle bus service will be provided between the competition venue and a designated meeting point, together with other participants. For groups that choose to make their own transportation arrangement, please kindly indicate clearly in the application form. Further details of the transportation arrangement will be sent after the application form was well received. 8. Unforeseen bad weather If the Hong Kong Observatory has forecasted/hoisted the typhoon cyclone warning signal No. 8 or above within 2 hours before the activity commences, the activity will be cancelled.
