4 AERIAL CLASS Using different kinds of materials, such as low-hanging aerial silk and aerial hoops, children can experience being airborne, soaring upside down with arms only, or even by their knees. 6 HAPKIDO - SUMMER 2018 WORKSHOP - Hapkido is a Korean martial art adapted by the military and civilian defence personal. It is a highly diverse martial art that employs unique joint locks, grappling and throwing techniques, apart from punches, kicks and striking attacks. Hapkido employs both long-rang and close-range fighting techniques, utilizing jumping kicks and percussive hand strikes and pressure point strikes. It also emphasize on circular motion, redirection of force and gaining control over their opponents through footwork and body positioning to use leverage, avoiding the use of brute strength against brute strength. 7 Discipline 紀律 SUMMER WORKSHOP Respect 尊敬 Spirit 精神 KENDO Traditional Japanese Fencing Ken 劍 ' sword' and Do 道 ' way, means the way of the sword. Kendo is a modern martial art originated from Japan, descended from swordsmanship kenjutsu and practitioners or kendoka uses bamboo sticks shinai, head gear men and protective armour bogu. Kendo is an activity that combines martial arts practices and values with strenuous sport-like physical activity. 9 TAEKWONDO Taekwondo is not only a traditional martial art which can aid in body building and self-defense, but it is also an emerging modern sport, with overall fitness, competition and entertainment. 10 CCHLY Underwater Robotics (R.O.V.) STEM Summer Workshop By Marine Advance Technology Education Centre The Marine Advanced Technology Education (MATE) Center goal is focused on using underwater Remotely Operated Vehicles or ROV s to bridge the path between education and employment using STEM education. The MATE competition develops these skills through challenging teams from primary to university level from around the world to design and builds ROV s to tackle problems modelled after real life scenarios. An ROV is a Remotely Operated Underwater Vehicle and they are used widely in underwater works, exploration, ocean surveys, scientific research, underwater salvage operations and oceanography. In this basic course you will learn how to build a mini ROV. A little bit of wiring and programing and once completed, you can test your mini ROV in the water and you will be the test pilot. 11 Underwater R.O.V. (Basic R.O.V.) STEM Summer Workshop Basic R.O.V. Workshop By Marine Advance Technology Education Centre What is R.O.V.? An ROV is a Remotely Operated Underwater Vehicle and they are used widely in underwater works, exploration, ocean surveys, scientific research, underwater salvage operations and oceanography. In this workshop you will learn how to build a basic ROV. In this workshop, participants will work in a team of 3 or 4 as junior oceanic engineers to build a larger scale ROV. You and your team mates will do a bit of wiring, fabrication works and a bit of basic programing. Once completed, you can test your ROV in the deep pool. The workshop is sanctioned by USA MATE Workshop and a certificate will be issued to all participants. Best suited for secondary school students and above. We have a number of working models for you to work on. It s an innovative experimental activity for hands-on learning, from simple models, to ones using solar panels to transform solar energy to move the parts. 14 Professional Art Drawing & Painting Drawing is a form of visual art that makes use of any number of drawing instruments to mark a two-dimensional medium. Common instruments include graphite pencils, pen and ink, inked brushes, wax color pencils, crayons, charcoal, chalk, pastels, markers, styluses, and various metals. Painting is the practice of applying paint, pigment, color or other medium to a surface (support base). The medium is commonly applied to the base with a brush, but other objects can be used. 16 Adult Summer Art Class In these art classes you will gain more knowledge of color mixing, color combination, creating a good composition and various painting techniques using mainly acrylic or watercolor paint. 22 Sepak Takraw Sepak Takraw is a sport native to Southeast Asia. It is soon to be included in the Olympics in It is a popular sport in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Myanmar, India and the Philippines. The choosing of this name for the sport was essentially a compromise between Malaysia and Thailand, the two powerhouse countries of this sport. The game of sepak takraw uses a rattan ball and only allows players to use their feet, knee, chest and head to touch and keep the ball aloft. In general, all players will try their best to keep the ball in the air or risk losing points to the other team.
