Readington Recreation has fabulous programs for residents of all ages this summer. The 6 week Summer Recreation program for children grades K 6, runs from June 25th until August 3rd. Teen Trip Camp for students entering grades 7-9 runs from 7/9-8/3. You can pick the weeks that work best for your family. NEW this summer is the CIT Program which runs the week of 6/25-6/29, details pg 6. Specialty Camps including Chess, Theatre, Art, Fencing, Soccer, Golf, Tennis, Multi- Sports and much more are offered. Friday Night Basketball moves to Thursday Nights in Pickell Park in June & July. Students will work using pencil, charcoal, and paints on a variety of fun projects designed to sharpen artistic skills in the areas of drawing, color theory, composition, and painting technique. The main focus Thursday Night Basketball is to develop a well rounded understanding of the game through exciting games and drills. Professional Coaches will teach the basic techniques of dribbling, passing, shooting and defense through a series of inclusive group activities. Last hour will be devoted to small sided, game realistic scrimmages, allowing each player the chance to showcase newly learned skills during structured team play.* High school - quick and fun skills competitions and we get right into a game. Most importantly, it s all about having fun and taking the time to enjoy a social, healthy, lifelong sport. Classes for beginner to intermediate level players. Tennis Lessons Level I Cost: $109 Participants learn the basic fundamentals of stroke production, court movement and footwork skills in a low pressured, yet energetic environment. Most importantly it s all about fun, with games, games and more games throughout each session! Foundation Tennis is for beginner level players. All players must provide their own racket. Dates: Wed. 5:00-6:00pm Ages 5-8 6:00-7:00pm Ages 8-14 Tennis Lessons Level II Cost: $109 Development Tennis caters to intermediate players looking to take their game to the next level. Tennis classes allow participants to work towards refining the fundamental skills of stroke production, rally consistency and court awareness, all essential aspects to successful match play. This class is for intermediate level players. All players must provide their own racket. Dates: Wed. 5:00-6:00pm Ages 5-8 6:00-7:00pm Ages 8-14 Rutgers SAFETY Clinic Tuesday, July 17th A Requirement for ALL Readington Coaches Join us Tuesday, July 17th at 6:30pm, in room 304 at the Readington Middle School. You must preregister using the adult registration form on the web site to attend. The class is free for Readington Recreation coaches, the fee is $40 for coaches from other organizations.
5 P a ge 5 READI NGT O N RECREA TI O N NEW - CHESS CAMP Date: 7/16-7/20, (Mon.-Fri.) Time: 9am-12:00pm Grades 2-6 Cost: $200 Space limited! Studies have shown that chess can help increase problem solving ability, test scores and even reading ability. Chess can also help students improve social habits as it grants them a sense of belonging yet also encourages competition in a safe environment. The camp is designed for children in 2 nd through 6 th grade of various levels. I will adjust my instruction on an individual basis for each student. This is a great opportunity for your child to learn the world s oldest and most popular game, the world s first e-sport if you will! ART CAMPS * Children who register for both programs may stay and have lunch with the instructor. ART ADVENTURES Ages 6-11 Date: 8/20-8/24 Cost: $ Time: 9:00am-NOON Instructor: Tony Robinson Students improve their skills in this intensive summer camp focusing on the basics principles of the art of drawing and painting. Work on fun and informative projects designed to sharpen artistic skills in the areas of drawing, color theory, and composition. Materials supplied. CARTOONING Ages 8-14 Date: 8/20-8/24 Cost: $ Time: 1:00pm-4:00pm Instructor: Tony Robinson Experience cartooning from sketch stage to completed art with emphasis placed on self-expression and having fun. Students learn proper technique while drawing their favorite cartoon characters from Japanese Anime, Comic Book Heroes, to Dragon Ball Z. Materials supplied. TRIP REGISTRATION RMS 7:00-9:00PM Wed., May 16th FULL DAY CAMPERS ONLY Tues., May 29th ALL CAMPERS 4th-6th Grades Holland Brook School Children enrolled in 4/5/6 grades in fall. REGISTRATION begins 2/1. Registrations received after June 1st. will be assessed a $50 late fee. TRIPS are available for an additional fee. Payment: Payment in full is required at the time of registration. Campers meet at Pickell Park. Drop off is 8:00am. Pick up is 5:00pm. If a trips returns earlier than 5:00pm teens can play tennis, basketball or hang out New CIT PROGRAM - Ages at the Gazebo until pick up. Counselor to camper ratio is 6 to 1. Join us this summer, as students learn all about theatre by doing it themselves! Children are guided, by the instructors, through a process where they play theatre games, create a story, and work together to make that story into a working theatrical production. The participants create their own character, plot, props, costumes, title, and everything else that's needed to make the production complete. You get to play the part you have always dreamed of! The final day is a performance of their original play for parents, family, and anyone else who wishes to come. FENCING CAMPS Date: 7/9-7/13 All Levels 8/13-8/17 All Levels Time: 9:30am-3:30pm Grades 3-12 Location: Medeo Fencing Club Cost: $ Instructor: Medeo Fencing Club Date: 8/27-8/31, (Mon.-Fri.) Time: 9am-12:30pm Ages 5-11 Cost: AM Option $189, 9am-3pm Ages 6-11 Full Day Option $219 Fencing is a sport of strategy and skill. Students learn basic terminology of fencing, develop motor skills, reflexes, and coordination necessary to the basic skills of fencing which include position, basic footwork, offense, defense, tactics, improved physical condition, mental discipline, and the rules of fencing. All equipment provided, students should bring a bag lunch. MULTI SPORTS CAMP August Experience over 15 different sports from around the world with the US Sports Institute. All Activities will take place in an atmosphere which promotes good sportsmanship, teamwork, and most of all fun. Campers will receive technical instruction, have the chance to experience each sport in a realistic games situation, and will participate in the exciting USSI World Cup Competition. Campers will receive a t-shirt and certificate. This camp is dedicated to children of all sporting ability. SCIENCE CAMPS August at the Dobozynski Cottage Crayola: World of Design Ages 6-12 Time: 9am-noon CRAYOLA : World of Design is a summer camp that takes kids on a journey to the edges of their imagination and beyond! Learn about Mars, the rainforest, and cities of the future, and get engaged in the creative design process to solve real-world problems. Each day focuses on a specific field of design, and our young architects, illustrators and graphic designers develop their ideas from concept, to sketch, to finished product. They bring their concepts to life by experimenting with Crayola products, and exploring art techniques like sculpting, storyboarding, mixed media, and collage. Combining art, design, fun active games and inspiring themes from around the world, this camp is designed to inspire! COST: $160.OO Space: Infinity & Beyond Ages 6-12 Time:12:30-3:30pm If your child is astro nuts, he or she will absolutely love this camp! Children involved in this program develop an interest for outer space and a passion for our sensational solar system. Using the Scientific Method, campers investigate the mechanics of unique flying machines, such as balloon-copters, boomerangs, and mini hovercrafts. Children are transported to the past as they delve into how early pilots navigated throughout space as they create their own sextant and sundial. Building upon previous experiments and knowledge learned throughout the week, campers will use what they ve learned to construct a model rocket and have the option of participating in a live launch demonstration. If you see a program online and choose to mail in your registration it is possible the activity will fill before we receive your registration in the mail.
