2 FISH DISEASES: Diseases Epizootic haematopoietic necrosis (EHN)- Rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) Viral haemorrhagic septicaemia (VHS):Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, (Salmo trutta), Goldfish (Carassius auratus auratus), Largemouth Black Bass (Micropterus salmoides), Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar). Grey/Striped mullet (Mugil cephalus). Infectious haematopoietic necrosis (IHN): Rainbow Trout, Brown trout, Atlantic salmon. Infectious salmon anaemia (ISA): Rainbow trout, Brown trout, Atlantic salmon Koi herpes virus (KHV): Common Carp (Cyprinus carpio carpio), Koi Carp (Cyprinus carpio koi)

4 Disease management requirements originate from a country/area, zone or compartment declared free from the above mentioned diseases (Directive 2006/88/EC or the relevant OIE Standard). diseases are notifiable to the competent authority (all OIE listed diseases are notifiable to DAFF) List of controlled and notifiable animal disease (June 2010) in need of revision

5 Disease management requirements all susceptible species introduced come from an area declared free of the disease (s): o No country wide disease surveillance for above mentioned diseases to declare country freedom and support certification. o Challenges with declaring country freedom with inadequate biosecurity measures at the farmed animal wild animal interface. o Freedom at compartment level o Compartment :one or more aquaculture establishments under a common biosecurity management system containing an aquatic animal population with a distinct health status (specific disease (s)), with biosecurity and disease surveillance measures in place to facilitate international trade. o Registration of farms with DAFF (Veterinary Procedural Notice) inclusive of relevant disease surveillance testing to provide compartment freedom.

6 Disease management requirements o species susceptible are not vaccinated against the relevant diseases No vaccination against any of the above mentioned diseases in the country.

7 Commodity exceptions a) non-viable crustaceans, (crustaceans no longer able to survive as living animals if returned to the environment from which they are obtained) ; (b) fish which are slaughtered and eviscerated ; (c) aquaculture animals and products thereof, which are placed on the market for human consumption without further processing; (d) crustaceans destined for processing establishments authorised in accordance with Article 4 (2) of Directive 2006/88/EC, or for dispatch centres, purification centres or similar businesses which are equipped with an effluent treatment system inactivating the pathogens in question, or when the effluent is subject to other types of treatment reducing the risk of transmitting diseases to the natural waters to an acceptable level; (e) crustaceans which are intended for further processing before human consumption without temporary storage at the place of processing and packed and labelled for that purpose in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 853/2004. The above mentioned commodities present relatively low biosecurity risk to the importing country therefore the above mentioned requirements will not apply EXCEPT if the animals exported is a susceptible species to the above mentioned diseases.
