2 CLIENT DETAILS The Mobile Application i is built for the Fisher ih Women Association headed by Fati Bint Sarr. Currently the Fisher Women often sell the dry fish with losses. They also need to know what price to buy the fresh fish for, in order to make a profit. Thus, the Mobile Application is built in order to tell the clients, the selling price for the dry fish, and the buying price of fresh fish, so that they would make a profit.

3 Functionality The following 5 functions are implemented in this application: Update fresh fish bought Sell for Profit Update dry fish sold Buy For Profit Reset

4 Functionality (Continued) The functions: Update fresh fish bought Update dry fish sold Reset are database modifications. They change the content of the database. The functions: Sell for Profit and Buy For Profit are database lookups. They do not change the content of the database.

5 Simulation Test Run Let us now look at each function one by one. After turning on the phone, and clicking on this Mobile Phone application, i the following screen should show: [Please look at next slide.]

6 Now, let us look at this function

7 Update Fresh Fish Bought After the Fisher ih Women buy fresh hfish from the fishermen, they will click on the Fresh Fish Bought option to input the following: kilos/cases of fresh fish bought. CFA paid to buy the fresh fish. This information will be stored in the system. (This information will be later used by the system to determine the dry fish price.)

8 After clicking on the Fresh Fish Bought button on the main screen, which is on the left, we will go to the screen on the right.

9 After putting in the Total Price Paid and the kilosof of fresh fish bought, and clicking on Update_Purchase button on the left screen, we will go to the screen on the right. iht (Check mark shows that the database is updated)

10 Afterclicking on the Main button that is on the left screen we go back to the first screen with which we had initially started.

11 Now, let us look at this function

12 Sell For Profit Function When the Fisherwomen are ready to sell the dry fish, they can click on this button to enter the kilos of dry fish that they want to sell, and the program will compute the price at which they should sell those dry fish. Note: Program makes the assumption: 2 kilos of fresh fish makes 1 kilo of dry fish. (But this can be easily changed once we get the actual information from the fisher women.)

13 Afterclicking on the Sell For Profit button on the main screen, which is on the left, we will go to the screen on the right.

14 After putting in the Kilos of dry fish and clicking on Dry Fish Price button on the left screen, we will go to the screen on the right.

15 Afterclicking on the Main button that is on the left screen we go back to the first screen with which we had initially started.

16 Now, let us look at this function

17 Update Dry Fish Sold function After the Fisher Women sell dry fish, they will click on the Dry Fish Sold button to input the following: kilos/cases of dry fish sold. CFA gained from selling. (This information will be used by the system to determine the new dry fish price, and to determine the price with which the fisherwomen should buy the fresh fish.)

18 After clicking on the Dry Fish Sold button on the main screen, which is on the lft left, we will go to the screen on the right.

19 After putting in the Total money gained and the kilos of dry fish sold, and clicking on Update_Sale button on the lf left screen, we will go to the screen on the right. (Check mark shows that the database is updated)

20 After clicking on the Main button that is on the left screen we go back to the first screen with which we had initially started.

21 Now, let us look at this function

22 Buy For Profit Function When the Fisherwomen ih are ready to buy the fresh fish, they can click on this button to find the buying price per kilo of fresh hfish. This information is computed by using the information obtained from previous sale transactions of dry fish. Note: Program makes the assumption: 2 kilos of fresh fish makes 1 kilo of dry fish. (But this can be easily changed once we get the actual information from the fisher women.)

26 Afterclicking on the Reset button that is on the left screen we go to the screen that is on the right. With this the database is cleared from all previous collected and maintained information.

27 Technical Information This application was made using J2ME. The Sun Wireless Toolkit was used. Eclipse IDE was used for running the Emulator.

28 Future Work/ Changes Need more suitable images that t would be more understandable. Need an interview with the Fisherwomen to ask them about: How many kilos of dry fish is obtained from a certain amount of fresh fish? When they buy fish, do they buy in terms of cases or in terms of kilos? How many kilos are in one case? (Based upon answers to the above questions, the program will be changed accordingly.)
