5 CAPTAIN RON S FISHING REPORT We had a cold front come through this last weekend, brrrr, and as I was fishing Saturday morning, Sep 13th, the surface water temperature dropped below 80 degrees. But that cold front really killed the bite, was my worse day of catching in a long Bme, one small striper and one small large mouth. Fortunately I had more success Friday. It was a cloudy, windy day and I caught my two best stripers around 11:00 am right out in the middle of the lake 40 down with my Pearl Blue Skinny Dipper. By the way, don t know how long they will last, Gerry s has received some of those baits. Back to the cooler than normal water temperatures, With no really hot weather in the forecast I don t think there is any danger of a fish kill, they can survive higher up in the higher oxygenated waters and won t get trapped in deeper water. And so far it even looks like the oxygen at the deeper depths is holding in there but, as last year showed, that can change in a heart beat. This bodes really well for next year when all of those stripers will be bigger and more of them. But for the present I just don t know what to expect for the next month. Will the stripers conbnue to congregate close to the dam or will they scaoer to the breeze? I just don t know. But, in any case, there should be stripers caught in out October tournament for a change. October has been a really tough month for stripers lately because they were stressed out due to low oxygen levels at the deeper depths or they had escaped up the lake aser the lake turned over and were hard to find. Normally, for me, October thru mid December are the hardest Bmes for me to catch stripers but I will sbll be out there trying, you just never know what may grab on to your bait, maybe that trophy. Many well earned thanks to Eddie, Roy and Jim S for cooking some great hamburgers, hot dogs and brats and the pot luck dishes were out of sight good. I sure was fueled up for my run this morning. See you on the water, Ron September Striper Club Picnic Many thanks to Eddie Haughton who did a great job in planning and organizing this Month s great picnic. Thanks to all those who pitched in and helped Eddie make this such a success. Thanks to all for coming and bringing those great side dishes and desserts
