1 Launch Ramps on the Hudson 22 April 15th Wappinger Falls Municipal Launch Ramp, east shore From Route 84, (last exit on east shore, RT 9D,) go north approximately 3 miles to four corner light at Chelsea Rd Turn west towards River and follow road for approximately one mile Turn right and then left, go over the railroad tracks and you will see the ramp on your right Available parking for vehicles and trailers is limited There is room along the fence and the side of the road, but it fills up fast With a strong north, wind blowing it is difficult to launch your boat here, but well worth it! There are no fees and no time limits on the use of this ramp The fishing out in front of this ramp is EXCELLENT during April and May! Hyde Park Poughkeepsie April 15th -Poughkeepsie Launch Ramp, east shore,41º º56 19 Located between the two bridges that span the Hudson River this is an excellent launch Ramp, double wide with plenty of parking for vehicles and trailers To reach the ramp take route 9 to the Main Street exit, turn towards the River, turn right onto River Street and into Waryas Park There are no fees, especially during March and April From this ramp you can find excellent fishing south to Marlboro and the quarry on the east shore, or north to Black Creek and Norrie Point State Park It is not recommended that you leave your vehicle and trailer here overnight Part 2: Wappingers Falls to Albany 24 April 15th Hyde Park Marina/ east shore 41º º56 26 In Hyde Park from Route 9, go west on River Point Road for 02 miles across RR grade level crossing to ramp The RR crossing is on a very active high speed Amtrak line The ramp is single width By calling the marina, arrangements may be able to be made for overnight parking Launch fee is $2000 Call Keith Coultas at April 15th Andros River Road Marina, Hyde Park 41º º56 45 east shore, In Hyde Park from 9A, go west on West Market Street (Rt 41) 05 mile to Dock St and make a right Along the south side of the Vanderbilt Restoration go 01 mile through the rock cut and make a left The entrance to the marina is 500 ft to the south The tricky part with this single width launch site is that the railroad separates the marina from the main river This means that boats higher than 3 6 or larger than 19 are going to have a problem getting under the RR Bridge The launch fee is $2000 and you can stay overnight by calling May 1st, Norrie Point Marina, Staatsburg, east shore, 41º º65 43 In Statsburg at the park entrance on Rt 9, turn towards the river, west, 04 mile and make the first left after the RR bridge Go 03 mile to end, make left, and follow road 13 miles to the marina There are no fees for the use of the single wide ramp, however as mentioned earlier it is a very popular launch site and right on the huge schools of stripers during April and May Call the Norrie Point Marina at for further details 50 APRIL 2013 boatingonthehudsoncom boatingonthehudsoncom 25

2 Please note that the date listed in front of each ramp s paragraph denotes when the striped bass are most prevalent in the area of that particular launch ramp Further, the number along side of the name indicates that it is a primary launch ramp for striper fishing in the area, and corresponds to the number keyed on the map For you boaters that want to leave your car and trailer overnight or longer I highly recommend one of the marinas such as Haverstraw Marina, Stony Point Marina or many of the others on up the river that advertise with us They can often accommodate you and offer piece of mind about your vehicle and trailer Any of the comments or suggestions listed for each of the following launch sites are firsthand observations from fisherman and boaters and could change instantly Having said that, it should be pointed out that many of the ramps mentioned do not charge fees during the early part of the striper season, during the week, and in some cases, not even on weekends Kingston Rhinecliff Hyde Park The following marinas are located on Rondout Creek just before you enter Kingston off of Rt 9W They are the most weather proof and secure launch ramps and marinas on the River Further, the Rondout empties directly into the Hudson and huge schools of stripers during April, May and June Please note, you must travel out of the Rondout at a very slow speed This requires some patience and time You will get a ticket if you create a wake 27 April 15th Rondout Bay Marina, Eddyville, NY 41º º0105 north side of Rondout Creek, Rt213 This marina is located the furthest up the Rondout Creek; It is a single wide concrete ramp Launch fee is $1000 with overnight stays allowedcall Sorry Patsy s Bay Marina! We made a mistake last month - here s the right stuff : April 1st Pa Tsy s Bay Marina, Stony Point, NY 41o Take Rt 9w to East Main Street, turn towards River, at bottom of hill turn left onto Beach Road Follow road along the edge of the River for about a quarter of a mile Pat sy s Bay marina is on the right This is a single wide concrete ramp Fees: $2000, hours are flexible and you are allowed to stay overnight or for days in a well protected parking area It is important to call the marina office at and make arrangements before visiting This location is wave, wind protected, and ten minutes from Haverstraw Bay and excellent fishing 28 April 15th Lou s Boat Basin #1 north side of Rondout Creek, Rt 213, Kingston, A double wide concrete ramp leading directly into Rondout Creek Overnight or longerterm stays are available Call April 15th Hideaway Marina, north side of Rondout Creek on Rt 213, (Abeel St) Single width, concrete ramp $1000 launch fee, call for overnight or longer stays to boatingonthehudsoncom boatingonthehudsoncom APRIL

3 30 April 15th Rondout Yacht Basin, south side of Rondout Creek, Connelly, 41º º59 19 Off of Rt 9w before second bridge you will see a sign for Connelly Follow the road down and around approximately 1 mile Rondout Yacht Basin is right in front of you This is the largest yacht club on the Rondout and has a single wide launching ramp on premises Launch fee is $1000 Overnight or longer stays are available Call April 15th- Kingston-Warren T Spinnenweber Launching Ramp, Sleightsburg Spit Park, west shore, at the very beginning of Rondout Creek This is a 6 year old state of the art launching ramp, FREE, built by the above named and with friends who wanted free, public access to the River It has become the premier launching ramp for striper fisherman this year as it takes far less time to get, on the fish here than from any other location in the area Directions, From Port Ewen, RT 9W, turn left or right, at the light, (towards the River) on to North Broadway Follow North Broadway to First Av, turn right, (there is a little white sign on the pole saying Launch ramp) turn left to Everson St (another sign on pole) just before the fuel depot, and turn right into the park Thank you Warren, I hope you are enjoying your stay in heaven! 32 April 15th Rhinebeck Town Landing, Rhinecliff, east shore, 41º The fishing is excellent out in front of this ramp! This is a very good ramp to use on weekends as there is unlimited parking in the railroad parking lot Further there are no fees or restricted hours of operation From Rt 9 in Rhinebeck, take Rt 308 west for 22 miles to the Rhinecliff Railroad Station and turn right onto the bridge at Hutton St April 15th Charles Rider Park Launch Ramp Ulster, o57 13 From Route 32 go east on Ulster landing Road (Nick Roberti s Marine is at this intersection) for 01 mile to the fork Take the left side of the fork for 10 mile to the park entrance Most of the big stripers caught in May come from the area reached out of this launching ramp Overnight parking is allowed at your own risk There is a fee of $500 per launch, hours of operation are 6 AM to 10 PM daily however this is a very easy going launch ramp and you may find no one there to collect the launch fee early in the spring Everything You Need for for Spring! Einar & Molly Johannsen 35 Saugerties 34 Saugerties, NY Home of the biggest stripers on the Hudson River, More 40 lb stripers are caught in this area on a consistent basis than any other location on the Hudson River and usually, on large whole, fresh herring There are a number of marina s and locations that will accommodate you for overnight or longer stays in this area! 31 Kingston Rhinecliff 34 Creek 42º º56 16 From Rt 9w, go south on Burt Street 03 mile to the bottom of the hillgo west on Ferry Street for 02 mile to marina entrance on left The ramp is single wide Daily launch fee is ten dollars 35 April 15th Saugerties Water Works Launch Ramp, west shore, this is a free ramp located directly in front of the best and biggest stripers on the Hudson River in May! 4 36 April 15th Germantown/Lasher Park Launch Ramp, Germantown, East Shore This is a very good double - wide ramp built by the NYSDEC, and it s free! From Rt 35A go west on Anchorage Rd for 02 Miles across the railroad crossing into the Earnest R Lasher Jr Memorial Park Anchorage Rd is steep with a few sharp turns Overnight parking is permitted; there usually is no hassle during early morning or late evening fishing excursions The ramp was almost closed by Conrail a few years ago, but thanks to the Germantown Government, the restrictions were not put in place, resulting in another success story for free public access to the Hudson 37 April 15th, Dutchman s Landing, Catskill, West Shore From Rt 385 go east on Main St for 06 miles and make a left into the park This is an excellent quadruple wide ramp with ample parking and it is FREE! Dutchman s park seemingly has a non - stop 24-hour operation when the stripers are in the area The local businesses along the Catskill Creek welcome fisherman Riverview Marine is closest to the main river, has temporary dockage, fuel and live herring on site There are also numerous restaurants along the creek where you can tie up and grab a bite or a hot cup of coffee before heading back out The area is also excellent for shore fishing The rocky shoreline directly behind the Freightliner Building at Catskill Point is one popular spot as is the open shoreline within Dutchman s park 38 April 15th Hudson Boat Launch, Hudson, East Side From Rt 9G go west 03 miles on Allen Street to the traffic light in the center of town Then go across the railroad bridge onto Ferry St Make a right into the parking lot The ramp is found at the north end of the bridge It is FREE Overnight parking is allowed on weeknights, at your own risk Catskill, NY 40 Coxsackie 37 Catskill Schenectady Coeymanṣ Athenṣ 45 Albany Bethlehem Castleton 42 Hudson 38 Troy Rensselaer April 20 Athens Municipal Launch Ramp, West Shore The park entrance is found on Rt385 just north of the Town of Athens and 02 miles south of Hagar s Harbor Marina The ramp is double - wide and is FREE Overnight parking is permitted 40 April 20 Coxsackie Boat Launch Coxsackie, West Shore This park underwent a long anticipated renovation in 2005 to include a new bulkhead and improved launch It is FREE From Rt 385 go down Mansion Street for 03 miles and make a left on to Betke Blvd into the park 41 April 20 Coeymans Landing Park, West Shore From Rt144, go Easton Westerlo St The launch is at the bottom of the hill Ample parking is located to the right, adjacent to the ball field Coeymans Landing Marina is located next to this ramp There is a fully stocked Ship s Store, Fuel and Yanni s Too Restaurant on site Dockage for those visiting the restaurant is available 42 April 20 Schodack Island State Park Located on the east shore south of Castleton on Rt 9J This is a relatively new park operated by the NYS Dept of Parks and Historic Preservation The launch is double - wide and is build into the shore, parallel to the river to protect it from passing wakes Call for times and fees There is an extensive silt control dyke that separates the entire Coeymans waterfront from the main river channel It is awash only at high tide There are diamond shaped caution signs and fixed navigation markers along the length of the dyke Best practice when leaving the ramp area is to proceed south between shore and the privately maintained buoys Head out into the main river after you are south of the last green marker at the end of the dyke 43 April 20 Henry Hudson Park, Town of Bethlehem, west side Open dawn to dusk, this is a relatively new launch and is FREE Henry Hudson Park is also a very popular spot for shore fishing, including a handicap accessible area, a gazebo and picnic tables Many large fish are caught from shore here every year From Rt 144, turn east onto Barrent Winne Rd then right at the fork toward the launch boatingonthehudsoncom APRIL boatingonthehudsoncom

5 The following launch sites offer the best access to the Albany waterfront and north to the head of tidal river at the Troy Dam During May and into early June, when the fishing is finished from Kingston to Catskill, the schools, including herring and shad are here!
