1 Crosby s Seafood Company Current Market notes for the week of Fishing Vessels (F/V) All of the Local Fishing Vessels are at dock anxiously awaiting a break in the weather. Most of the fleet is hoping to get out between Saturday and Monday and will be targeting Local tuna, B-liner, and Grouper. The local F/V Game On is at dock awaiting a break in the weather The local F/V Charleston Star is at dock awaiting a break in the weather. The local F/V Ellen Jean is at dock awaiting a break in the weather. The local F/V Still Fishing is currently still down in Florida fishing and distributing directly to the Florida market. The local F/V Bonsai is at the dock awaiting a break in the weather. The local F/V Seahawk is at dock awaiting a break in the weather. The local F/V Miss Jane is all set to leave the dock today to target Local tuna. They will be targeting Local Yellowfin, Big Eye, and Albacore tuna. The local F/V Killshot is at dock awaiting a break in the weather. The local F/V Molly D is at dock awaiting a break in the weather The local F/V Oxbow had a great season and is done fishing until mid-april when Wreckfish season reopens. The local F/V China Girl is still undergoing repairs. They are hoping repairs will be completed by mid-march. Notes Plenty of Sushi grade Domestic Striped Bass, Halibut, Sword, and Flounder on hand. Local Award Winning Jumbo Soft Shell Crabs will be in Saturday. Please get your orders in ASAP; they will be distributed on a first come first serve basis. Just received a shipment of 20 lb. and up Domestic Striped Bass aka Rock-Fish out of Virginia. The quality is absolutely stellar with an extremely cost effective price point to go along with it. If any customers would be interested in the potential shipment of Local Albacore Tuna, please let us know in advance. We will only bring in enough Albacore to cover pre-sale orders. Local Snowy Grouper and Yellow Edge Grouper are both open. Grouper production is at an extreme low. As of mid-week, there was zero grouper on the market. We have been able to reserve some Yellow edge grouper coming in tomorrow and prices will be extremely high as a result of the lack of production. We are hoping to see some of the Local fishing vessels produce some Snowy and Yellow edge once the weather breaks and they are able to get out fishing. East Coast Halibut is in! Prices have dropped just a bit and as spring moves in and the weather becomes much more manageable, production will be able to increase and we will begin to see prices decrease even more. Flounder is plentiful coming out of Virginia and the cold North Atlantic waters of Rhode Island. North Carolina Flounder season is closed. 2 Sushi Grade Norwegian has been coming in 3 times a week to ensure the highest quality possible with prices maintaining consistent rates. Plenty of P.E.I. Mussels, Clams, and Fancy Fresh Sea Scallops available with shipments coming in 3 times a week to ensure the up most quality. Local Golden Tile Season has closed and will not reopen until mid-year. Rainbow Red Trout have been coming in consistently; quality, shelf life, and price point are second to none. For Beau Soleil oyster orders, we are bringing in Momma Mia oysters coming out of the same area as the Beau Soleil s and the Fancy Sweet oysters. Placing orders in advance is highly recommended due to limited quantities. The local North Carolina oysters Savage Inlets have halted in production due to the oysters needing time to grow. They are hoping their oysters will begin to reach desired sizes by late March. The local North Carolina oysters Devil Shoals will not be in production until late March. Wreckfish season will not reopen until Mid-April which typically produces our first shipment of fish in the beginning of May. Here is a great way to stay up to date with all the latest landing percentages, openings, and closures. Although it doesn t get updates as often as it should, it will provide you with a better understanding of what species are open in our local fishery and what these Local Boats will be able to target.
