Licenses may be purchased by enclosing a money order for the license and issuance fee and mailing to: Marine Resources Division P.O. Box 189 Dauphin Island, Alabama There is no application form. Applicants for shrimp boat and purse seine licenses must include the registered vessel name or state registration number. A copy of the owner s driver s license is needed. Prior to purchasing a live bait dealer license, the person s boat, truck, or place of business must be inspected. Nonresident licenses may be purchased at Marine Resource Division offices at Dauphin Island, Bayou La Batre, and Gulf Shores. The Alabama Legislature passed into law Act which changes the law with regard to eligibility to purchase a commercial gill net license in 1995 and subsequent years. In order to qualify to purchase a license, the applicant must show that he (a) purchased a license in two of five years during the years 1989 to 1993 and provide proof in the form of original unamended income tax returns that at least 50% of his income was derived from the capture and sale of seafood species (commercial fishing) or (b) that he purchased a license in each of the years 1989 to 1993 and paid his applicable Alabama income taxes in each of the years 1989 to Live bait dealer licenses may be purchased only from the Dauphin Island office. Other resident licenses may be purchased at county courthouses and selected agents. 3

Any resident fishing in saltwater from land or from a structure fixed to land. Any individual saltwater fishing from a vessel, the operator of which is licensed pursuant to S (2)(b), Florida Statutes. Only one individual at a time onboard a vessel that has been issued a saltwater products license may claim exemption from the saltwater license requirement. Military personnel who are Florida residents while they are home on leave for a period of 30 days or less. Residents permanently and totally disabled or HRS clients for developmental services. Reciprocal Agreements Residents of either Texas or Louisiana, who are properly licensed in their state (or are exempt because of age), or persons who hold valid nonresident fishing licenses issued by either state may fish in any portion of the lakes and rivers forming a common boundary between Louisiana and Texas inland from a line across Sabine Pass between Texas Point and Louisiana Point. 12
