1 1 Welcome to the Marlin Crawler Round-Up The Marlin Crawler Round-Up has become one of the largest Toyota-based 4WD events in the world. Held every fall on the world-famous Rubicon trail, the Round-Up has developed into the premiere trail-ride sponsor for the Rubicon Trail Foundation (RTF), a federally recognized non-profit organization dedicated to the future health of the Rubicon trail (see for more info). Unique Customer Appreciation Experience This event was first held in the fall of 2001 as a way for Marlin to thank his customers for their support and trust in his products. It was a simple, free event & included a BBQ lunch. After 2003, our appreciation was expanded to include the efforts of the Rubicon Trail Foundation. The event has seen tremendous growth ever since! Each year participants from the Marlin Crawler Community take on the grueling 17-mile Rubicon trail on an epic journey to the beautiful and historic Springs Campground. Part of the uniqueness and excitement of the event is how members from our large online community forum come together for the first time, putting faces to usernames and getting to see Build Projects in person. The event has attracted forum members from as far away as Florida & Hawaii, as well as international members from Canada, Denmark, Germany, and Australia! But the event isn t only for Marlin Crawler forum members and Toyota owners! Rigs of all bolt sizes are always on hand and are sure to turn heads! This Sep 15 th we will be celebrating our 17 th year of giving back to the Rock Crawling community. Whether you enter the trail from Loon Lake or from Tahoe Lake, get ready for an event to remember! 2.5-mile Nature Hike with Marlin Crawler Helicopter Rides (to be confirmed) Mechanics Repair Station Horseshoe Tournament Frisbee Golf Tournament R/C Rock Crawl Competition We are planning a delicious Tri-tip dinner, Award Ceremony, a RTF-benefiting Raffle, and a multi-item Grand Prize Marlin Crawler Raffle. All proceeds from this event will be donated to the RTF. To date, $114,594 has been raised and donated by this event to the Rubicon Trail! You may also register by phone or by fax: Phone: (559) / Fax: (559) The Main Event: The main event will be held Saturday, September 15 th at the Rubicon Springs Campground. We strongly recommend all participants arrive at the Springs Campground on Friday or earlier to avoid heavy traffic. Please note this is private property and only registrants may camp without penalty from the property caretaker(s). Registration: You may register by phone, fax, or walk-in. Registration closes Tuesday July 31 st. Registration Packets will be waiting for you at our Registration Booth behind the caretaker s cabin beginning Friday afternoon. Find a Group: Cramming 150+ Rock Crawlers into any single trail is a real challenge. If you are traveling alone, we strongly encourage joining a group! It s easy to post to our forum or Facebook page to find a travel group. Rock Crawling with others is a great way to meet people, learn trail safety, etiquette, and watch other rigs in action! Plan for NO Campfires: It is no secret that California has been in a serious drought. As such it is highly likely that the El Dorado National Forest Service (EDNFS) will enforce fire restrictions during our event. Please be prepared for No Burn regulations and always take precaution when using your cooking or heating apparatuses! Propanepowered portable camp fires (such as a Camco 58031) are usually acceptable but we advise checking with the EDNFS first. Grand Prize Raffle: Everyone who registers before the July 31 st cutoff will receive a ticket! The Grand Prize Raffle is very exciting, offering multiple, large Marlin Crawler prizes such as a rebuilt heavy duty transmission! Raffle Ticket Pre-Sales: We are now offering Raffle Ticket pre-sales! On the next page, you will find optional Raffle Ticket Pre-Sale choices. Pre-sale and on-site tickets will come from the same ticket sequence and color, and will be mixed together for the raffle. Therefore, the odds of winning are the same! The purpose for the pre-sale is to encourage more donations for RTF (100% of raffle ticket sales are donated to the RTF). If you purchase raffle tickets and cannot make the event, we will refund your raffle purchase(s) minus $10 which we ll donate to the RTF. Saturday Events: Check the Registration Booth for time/locations. $1 entry fee per person/event, donated to RTF! Mechanics Pit: Should your rig find itself beaten and bruised from the trail, we will have mechanics on-site located just south-west of the caretaker s cabin. Donations accepted for the RTF. Helicopter Rides: We are working on getting our popular Rubicon Helicopter rides back for this year s event! Confirmation to be posted on our website. If confirmed, rides will take place Saturday afternoon. We do not have a price yet. Enjoy an unforgettable bird s eye view as you check-out Spider Lake, Buck Island, and the entire Springs area from above!

3 3 2 nd Annual BigMike s TacoBox Run BigMike s TacoBox Run is a run through the Rubicon trail with trail leader BigMike, and is eligible for any vehicle equipped with a TacoBox. The TacoBox is a Double Row Bearing-equipped MC09 or MC11 Marlin Crawler Dual Case Setup for 1995 and newer Tacomas, 4Runners, FJ Cruisers, T100s, Sequoias, Tundras, and Lexus GX470s. Run Schedule: This run is spread over two days to enjoy a slower than normal pace. 5 5 RELEASE & WAIVER OF LIABILITY AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT By this form I hereby make application to Marlin Crawler, Inc. to participate in the 17 th Annual Marlin Crawler Round Up. By my signature below, I certify that I have read, understand and accept the following representations, stipulations and waiver: 1. I understand that after diligent and lengthy investigation, Marlin Crawler, Inc. has found that insurance for the risks of participation in the Marlin Crawler Round Up is unavailable at any price. I further understand that Marlin Crawler, Inc. and all property owners of Rubicon Springs and facility providers will not accept financial or legal liability for any injury or occurrence arising from any and all Round Up activities and that accordingly, my participation in such activities must be at my own risk. 2. I understand that my operation of a motor vehicle in the Marlin Crawler Round Up subjects me to all laws and requirements of the State of California respecting operation of a motor vehicle, and agree to abide by all applicable laws, including: The law that vehicles must be insured in an amount not less than the statutory minimum; the laws against the operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs; and the law that all persons operating motor vehicles be properly licensed by the State of California or foreign state. 3. I agree to carry no firearms and furthermore agree to abide by all the rules established by the Marlin Crawler Round Up Committee. ACCORDINGLY I HEREBY WAIVE, FOR MYSELF, MY PERSONAL REPRESENTATIVES, HEIRS AND NEXT OF KIN, ALL CLAIMS WHICH I MIGHT HAVE AGAINST MARLIN CRAWLER, INC., AND OTHER PROVIDER OF FACILITIES, AND ANY OF THEM IN COMBINATION, and their owners, agents, employees and contractors for injury, accident, illness, property damage, death or other occurrence arising in any manner whatsoever out of my participation in activities sponsored by MARLIN CRAWLER, INC. I expressly assume all risks of my participation including the risk that I might be injured as a result of the negligence or gross negligence of MARLIN CRAWLER, INC., another facilities provide, or of their officers, directors, agents, employees, or contractors. I expressly assume financial and/or legal liability for all risks of injury to persons who accompany me on the MARLIN CRAWLER ROUND UP activities, including family members, guests, friends and acquaintances, and all other persons who accompany me in my registered vehicle. FURTHERMORE, I agree to indemnify, save and hold harmless MARLIN CRAWLER, INC., from any and all loss, costs, damages, expenses, and attorney s fees arising out of my participation, or the participation of persons who accompany me, in MARLIN CRAWLER ROUND UP activities.
