Idaho, Vancouver, Canada, and Portland. As always with something new it always brings new challenges. They have worked very hard at bringing programs that encourage players to play their best. And as always they work hard at trying not to create rules that encourages the opposite of that. With that said here are a couple of decision either made or still in progress regarding Super 2. First one is very important when you are signing up your team. They look all players up by name when putting them on a league. When they do that they see the ratings that players had in all Dartslive leagues for at least the last year. Should your rating be lower then your normal performance when you enter your team they will reassign you to the correct flight. If there is any doubt feel free to contact them in advance. They will also use your TOC rating information if they have any concerns. Second, once the league starts and a team increases their ability which is what they always encourage they will remain in the flight as it is handicapped. Still discussing is how much improvement is too much. This usually only occurs when the beginning ratings are not correct. The possibility of moving them up a flight for the finals is being discussed but there is no definite decision on that. The concern is they still want you to play your best and improve your game to the best of your ability. Thank you for your participation and have a great weekend. 3 WWDL PLAYERS KANSAS CITY BOUND! TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS By Stephanie Spinler The Countdown begins! TOC 2016 is right around the corner. The 5th Annual Tournament of Champions in Kansas City Missouri, will take place October 15th through October 19th at the Expo Center. Players work all year long to earn points which qualifies them for a voucher to play to try and qualify for the main event with a 1st place prize of $20,000 to be split between doubles partners. Players choose one of 8 spots to play their qualifier event to claim a spot in the finals. They must play through the bracket and place 8 or better to move on to the finals. The skill level at this tourney is like no other, some of the best players from Minnesota, Texas, Washington, Iowa, and all over are coming to play for that large prize fund. For those that do not have a voucher but who have earned 200 points are welcomed to come and play in the other 8 events which consist of doubles and trios teams that had some very good prize money attached. The goal of this tourney is a Big Check! We will again this year have a grand showing of players from the WWDL. Stay tuned for the amazing results and pictures to come after their return. If you d like more information regarding the TOC, please visit the website at You will find TOC player standings listed by year, where you can play, downloads, information on how to play remotely and much more! Also join the Western Washington Dart League on Facebook to help keep track of what other great dart events are coming up. There are great discussions on the boards and the friendly folks there will be happy to answer any questions you may have about anything darts related to Dartslive and or WWDL. Also, take a look at page 8 of this publication for the pay-outs, event listings and dates and times for the upcoming TOC in Kansas City! This is going to be a huge event. The WWDL community has grown by leaps and bounds in the last four years and it shows! Again, best of luck to all of you Seattlites who are Kansas City bound! Please feel free to send in your candid photos from this event if you d like to see some of them featured here, in The Medallion Dart News! We look forward to hearing all about the fun you had and seeing the pictures that will be memories of a lifetime. 3

4 CONGRATULATIONS TO THE NEWLYWED COUPLE! On 8/8/16, on the beautiful white beaches of Cozumel Mexico the household of Simerly/Spinler joined with many of their family and friends to unite in marriage. Many of you have known Dave Simerly & Stephanie Spinler, now Simerly, for the past 3 years when they first started their dart addiction. As a pair, tourney after tourney, league after league, the two go hand in hand. After 19 years together they made it official and became husband and wife. Next time you see them, give them a hug and say hello, to the new mixed doubles Team Simerly. 4

5 ALL SEASONS; PARKLAND, WA Unlimited Cup By Kristine Fields Well, it finally happened. After All Seasons held on to the Unlimited Cup for four years straight the team from Cloud 9 finally took it to its new home. On July 31, 2016, a large crowd gathered both at All Seasons and online, thanks to Lisa Filer and Jeff Springer who streamed the event live via Facebook. All Seasons was represented by Willy Walker, Melvin Cherry, Rob Morrison and Rich Sutton. The Cloud 9 team consisted of Jeff Springer, David Bresee, Todd Jordan and John Husman. Those are all top notch dart players and they all meant business! Jeff Springer commented on Facebook that this was, by far, one of the best matches as a whole he s ever been a part of. Both teams played hard and it was close the entire way through, but in the end, only one can take that giant cup home. It took a truck to get the thing moved as it s so large and a whole lot of fun was had by Cloud 9 getting it there. Bragging rights have been earned, there is no doubt! Now let s see how long it will stay in its new home or if another team of amazing dart players can steal it away anytime soon. These matches against the best of the best are so much fun to watch. If you d like to see the live stream video please visit both Lisa Filer and Jeff Springer s Facebook pages and enjoy! Unlimited Cup Challenge Winners Jeff Springer John Husman Todd Jordan David Bresee Congratulations Guys! CHEERS! 7 1st Emerald City Classic From My Perspective. By Jeff Springer Aug 12-13, Watertown Hotel: Seattle, WA Alright! The Emerald City Classic is in the books! It was an absolutely incredible weekend! I can t begin to put into words how happy I am with the success that I had for these events. Friday I decided to play in my first Regional National Qualifier, and it was a tough field of players. I scored really well and my out averages were great and I ended up a little bit short on my goal, played some great matches and finished in 2nd place by 2 games with really great match in the last round against Kevin Luke who was the overall winner. Congrats again bro, well deserved and I know that you ll represent well in Colorado! I took the loss especially hard for this event for whatever reason, mainly due to the outside inference that I let affect me, so I opted out of playing the Blind Draw because my head wasn t right. I used that loss to fuel my fire for Saturday! Saturday was one of the best days of my career so far. I played the Open Doubles with my great friend and teammate (Monstah/Accurate/Jojera) Michael Lim. It was a really tough event to say the least. We lost our 4th match, I think due to missing a couple outs, and came back to double dip an absolutely incredible team of Kevin Luke and Melvin Cherry to take 1st Place! The day was off to a great start! Next up was the Men s 501 Singles. Another really tough field of great players had entered. I scored really solid and crushed my outs throughout the whole event and finished 1st Place after a really fun match with one of my best and closest friends, John Husman. I was really happy about that win to say the least but what myself, and probably everyone who was watching, remember most was the out I took to win the driver seat match against John I knew the way I was looking at it was not the best way but mentally it was what I was confident with, so I went for it. The silence that there was when everyone realized I was aiming at and then hit T20 with my 1st dart was deafening and a little weird, lol. I then finished it with a S12- DB and everyone started yelling. It was such a great feeling, I can t even describe it. Winning 2 in a row felt amazing! On to the Mixed Trio s 601 with again Michael Lim and another Young Gun Jennifer Mounts. We battled hard the whole tournament and finished in 1st Place once again. Standing behind and waiting for Jen to hit the winning shot with a D8, which she crushed with her 1st dart, it felt like the dart took forever to come out of her hand and hit the board. Knowing that I just ran a Clean Sweep on the Emerald City Classic was Jeff Leonard, Michael Lim and Jennifer Mounts, with Jeff Springer the greatest feeling in the world. I finally feel like all of the hard work that I ve put into this sport that I love is starting to pay off! I now have the mental confidence and strength as well as the physical ability to compete with not only the best in the country but at an international level as well. I can t wait to see what the future has in store for me and my dart career. It was great to see some good friends and teammates that I don t get to see on a regular basis as well. Time for thanks. I want to thank Jeff Leonard and ECDO staff for putting this great event together and keeping it running smoothly. I can t wait to come back next year and defend my titles. I want to thank my partners Michael and Jen for playing with me. I couldn t have done it without you and I love you guys! Next I want to thank my best friend, the most amazing person in the world, my beautiful and incredible girlfriend Lisa Filer. Your support and enthusiasm that you show to me in doing what I love is the most amazing feeling in the world and I can t thank you enough for all of the things that you do so that I can compete. I know it s not always easy but you stay by my side regardless of how difficult I get. I love you more than I can even remotely put into words. I want to thank my uncle, Matt Springer for coming and watching me compete. Your support means a lot to me. Lastly I want to thank my sponsors Accurate Dart, Monstah Clothing, Jojera Hawaii for their continued support in me chasing my dream to be #1, in my opinion the best products out there period! Until the next time! I apologize for people that I missed in the tagging. #MONSTAHSTANDING- STRONG #YOUNGGUNS #TEAMACCURATE #TEAM- JOJERA #TEAMMONSTAH #HUMBLEBEGINNINGS #SSUNIOUN #TITANSERIES 7

9 Flights Pub Approaching The Finish Line By Kristine Fields I recently spoke to the owner of Flights Pub, Everett, Ty Franzer, who confirmed the rumors that have been going around regarding the status of the Pub. Unfortunately, the owner of the building has plans that don t include keeping Flights alive in this location. In a post on Facebook, Ty wanted to dispel the rumors to the public and posted the following: I wanted to take a moment to confirm to my friends, who have become family over the years, that Flights Pub will be closing at the end of the year. Sadly we have gone the way of so many other places and lost our lease as the landlord has other plans for the building/site. We will be having one last season of Medalist darts this fall hosted by the best damn coordinators ever, Ray and Mary!! Also, Ted has been busting his butt to book an amazing calendar of incredible bands. I want to personally ask those who have played darts for me and those who enjoy live music to please support not only Flights but also the staff, who have been so amazing over the years. Thank you for all your support, it means the world to my family and staff. Flights along with Cloud 9 held the #1 Medalist Dart House spot several years running. Stay tuned for more info! Take a look at the line up for the rest of the year below and plan on supporting their final days. There will also be a going away party in November so check out the Flights Pub Facebook page for more information regarding this event and any other announcements. We wish them the best in whatever their next adventure may be. And we thank you for supporting The Medallion and The NW Karaoke & Live Entertainment Guide.
