Thanks to Miles and Diane for a delicious meal! Welcome to new members Work Party updates: Projects are getting listed. The Fall work party will be October 26 at 8:30. Team updates Scholarships Information for this year s scholarship program was presented by Howard Wounded Warrior Program The Club has collected over $3,000 in donations from members

2 Discussion Members discussed questions about law enforcement and carrying firearms; answers to these questions are expected in November Donation MagPro generously donated funds ($300) to the Club this year Raffles Jim P. won the $100 raffle. Meeting adjourned 7:58 PM The next membership meeting will be held on Monday, November 11 at 7:30 PM come as early as 6:30 for food. MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS for 2013/2014: Regular Dues: $ by check or money order only (NO CASH) Please write the first 5 numbers of your Gate Card # on the check or money order (If you use a money order or business check please make sure the members name is written clearly somewhere on the document). Other Dues: Active Military-$50; Disabled American Veteran - $0; Senior, age yrs. consecutive years of membership -$0. Active Law Enforcement Officers Initiation fee waved. Annual dues are due by January 1 each year. Gate keys will be disabled after 2/1. We will accept renewals starting now at the membership meetings or by mail at: AMES RIFLE & PISTOL CLUB PO BOX 88 NORTH EASTON, MA DAV, Senior and Platinum members are not required to pay dues, however they may give a donation and are required to let us know if they want to continue their membership by Jan.1 each year, in order to keep their gate card active. No renewal notice will be sent by mail. New members will now need to complete a one year probationary period during which they will need to attend two membership meetings and complete two work parties. MEMBERSHIP CARDS: If you need a card to indicate your membership for a CMP or local dealer purchase we will have them available at the membership meetings or by sending a self addressed stamped envelope to the Club. Cards are not necessary at the Club, you only need your gate card key. RANGE CLOSURE DATES: Outside Ranges: Every Easter and Memorial Day Inside Range: Every Wednesday from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM, for the Juniors Team. Some Thursdays for the Pistol Team- see, schedule posted in the clubhouse The First Monday of the month from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM The Second Monday of the month from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM

3 SECURITY GATE: Gate Operation: A. The gate will open by passing your card within 12 inches of the card reader and will close when you have passed through with your vehicle. DO NOT TAILGATE with the car in front of you. IF SOMEONE IS GOING OUT IN FRONT OF YOU IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO WAIT FOR THE GATE TO COMPLETELY CLOSE. YOU CAN SWIPE YOUR CARD AND THE GATE WILL RE-OPEN FROM THE POSITION IT IS IN. EVERYONE MUST SWIPE IN AND OUT. B. The card will also open the clubhouse door and the inside range. C. The gate will make the Club much safer as it will record who is at the Club and their arrival and departure time. RANGE OFFICER: We have range officer who will be reviewing the range rules with new members and anyone who may have questions. The primary issue is range safety. Please place all trash in containers provided. This includes target frames completely destroyed and left out on the range. Cans, bottles, fruits and vegetables are not to be used as targets these are not allowable targets. We continue to find them left on the range. Also, if you do not bring home your brass please place brass in the appropriate container and place steel case and shot gun shells in the trash. SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: Applications are now open the 2014 season. Applications and instructions are in the clubhouse. TEAMS: (Please see the website for more detail) The Junior Rifle Team meets on Wednesday nights from 7:00 until 8:30 PM on the indoor range. Bob has put up some great pictures of the kids. Check them out inside the clubhouse. If you need any information about the juniors, please contact Bob Peoples at Please call Bob or come down on Wed. nights if you have an interested young person. Bob reports that he has openings for more scout troops. The Ames Rifle Team meets on Tuesday nights at 8:00 PM. Matches during the winter are both home and away. You can contact John Harney for more information at It is held outside and is a 20 round offhand event at 200 yards. Any rifle, any caliber, any sights, any action and any skill level are acceptable. Matches are open to any Club member and there is a $3.00 range fee per night. See the website for the current schedule. The Ames Pistol Team meets on Thursday nights at 8:00 pm, both home and away. Their schedule is posted on the white board in the clubhouse. 4 EDUCATION: MAGPRO Inc. offers several courses. The LTC-016 Basic Firearm Safety provides the Certification required to apply for your LTC or FID in Massachusetts. Get the nonresident Utah Concealed Firearm Permit, which is recognized in over 32 states in the U.S. The Basic Pistol Clinic is designed to assist new shooters in applying the fundamentals of shooting revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. Private handgun lessons are available upon request. 5 National Rifle Association news: Massachusetts Gun Owners Action League news: SAFETY: This is our club. Those of us who have been to or were members of other clubs know what an incredible gem we have here. Unfortunately, we live in a part of the country where most people do not understand our sport and would just as soon not have us here. We have the privilege to practice our sport safely in this country and the only thing that can stop us is US if WE are unsafe. That is why we are constantly stressing the importance of safety for our Club and our members, as well as guests and our neighbors. We take our rules very seriously, and we take all safety violations seriously as well. Every one of us is responsible for the safety rules and the cleanliness of our club. If you notice anyone behaving in an unsafe manner, call a cease-fire, and explain to them what they re doing that is unsafe. Be polite about it, not confrontational. You may also call a Board member. BE FRENDLY, COURTIOUS, SAFE -- SHOOT OFTEN AND BRING A FRIEND. Range procedure during power outages: 1. Do not go down range without personally calling a cease fire on all the outdoor ranges. 2. If you are the only one at the club, park your car in front of the 300 yard range with the lights flashing and your alarm siren on if you have one before going down range. 3. Do not use the inside range
