2 HONORARY CO-PRESIDENTS 2017 Stéphane Quintal # 5 Montreal Canadiens Julie Perreault Pat Beaudry Senior Vice-President of Player Safety, National Hockey League Jacques Aubé Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Selected 14 th overall by the Boston Bruins in the 1987 NHL entry draft, Stéphane Quintal played for 7 seasons as a defender for the Canadiens. In 2003, Stéphane was nominated for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy, and he was the only member of his team to play every game of the NHL season. Stéphane hung up his skates in He was also the last Habs player to wear the number 5, which was retired on March 11, 2006, in honour of Bernard Boom Boom Geoffrion. Off the ice, Stéphane is involved with many organizations including the Breakfast Club of Canada in Montréal and the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation, visiting children in hospital every year. He was also a counsellor on the popular TV show Star Académie where he oversaw the participants physical conditioning. He has even appeared in several movies, notably as himself in Les Boys II. On September 8, 2014, Stéphane was named the NHL s senior vice-president of player safety. In a sense, he is now the guardian angel of the NHL s players. Jacques Aubé has managed the CH Group s evenko division for 13 years, realizing numerous successful projects and helping to make Montréal an internationally-recognized hub for large-scale events. Under Jacques leadership, evenko with its 1200 shows presented annually has consistently achieved top ranking in Pollstar Magazine s yearly list of Top 10 Promoters in North America. Recipient of several awards and honours (including Tourism Montréal s Personality of the Year Award in 2011 and 2014, and from the Université du Québec à Montreal s School of Management (ESG- UQÀM) in 2015 ), Jacques Aubé earned his chartered accounting degree from UQÀM and possesses 30 years of experience in finance and business administration. Alzheimer s disease affects every family in Quebec, says Jacques. By contributing in our own way and by supporting research, we will be able to help those living with dementia and, eventually, defeat this terrible disease. 2

3 Alzheimer s disease Alzheimer s disease is a progressive and degenerative disease that destroys brain cells. It is the most common form of dementia, accounting for 64% of all dementias in Canada. Alzheimer s disease is not a normal part of aging. Symptoms of the disease include having difficulty remembering things, making decisions, and performing everyday activities. These changes can affect the way a person feels and acts. There is currently no way to stop the disease, but research is improving the way we provide care and will continue to search for a cure. About us Founded in 1981, the Alzheimer Society of Montréal is a non-profit organization committed to alleviating the social and personal consequences of Alzheimer s disease and related disorders, as well as promoting research into their causes and cure. The Alzheimer Society of Montréal was the first Alzheimer Society in Quebec and the first in Canada to offer support groups for people living with the disease. Programs and services offered by the Society SUPPORT SERVICES and COUNSELLING Consultations by phone, , or in-person at our office in Saint-Henri, or at various service points across the island of Montréal. Monthly support groups for people living with dementia and their caregivers. RESPITE and STIMULATION Three Saturday activity centres. In-home respite and stimulation. Art therapy workshops for people living with dementia. The Art Links program: each month, people living with dementia and their caregivers are invited to the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. Free guided visits and workshops are led by the museum s educators. EDUCATION and AWARENESS Educational support groups for people living with dementia and caregivers. Conferences for the public to promote understanding of the disease. Basic and advanced training for healthcare professionals. Alzheimer Cafés: informal and inclusive meeting spaces to discuss aspects of life with dementia.
