WGANC Scholarships were awarded to Sarah Jane Catarozoli, Petaluma High School and Mira You, American High School, Fremont ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Addressing the USGA Membership Initiative: The No.1 issue facing WGANC this year and next is the USGA Membership Engagement initiative where USGA announced, in conjunction with a development of a single worldwide handicap system, it would only select one association per geographic area to be a USGA partner. One of the requirements to qualify for selection is -- the association must be full service, i.e. provides handicap services to men, women, and juniors from both public courses and private courses. At this time, under the new model, NCGA is the only association that will qualify to issue GHIN numbers from USGA. During the year WGANC, along with PWGA and WNHGA, held meetings to discuss the USGA plan and its potential impact to our associations. Later in the year we continued meetings with NCGA. Tournament Registration changes were tested the 1 st Come, 1 st Serve Tournament Registration for over-subscribed tournament events. This was such a success, that the Board has determined to permanently utilize this process going forward. Expansion of the Junior Girls Programs - This year, with the addition of a 3 rd Helen Lengfeld Tournament in the South Valley, we reached an estimated 300 junior girls from 45+ high schools. In addition to the Helen Lengfeld Tournaments we continue a Junior Girls Grant program. We invited high schools to submit a grant request which is then reviewed by our Junior Girls committee and we issue grants to deserving. Tournament Format Change: The Tournament has been cancelled the last 2 out of 3 years. Due to the lack of participation the Board has created a new 2-person scramble tournament that will be a fun formatted event for all players and all ages. 3 P a g e
4 NEW DIRECTORS: The Board nominated and presented to the delegates and at the Annual Meeting, the delegates voted on the following 2 new directors: Pat Zimmerman of Catta Verdera- North Valley and Lynda Donahue of Half Moon Bay SF. Communication Changes: WGANC newsletter is now completely electronic (via the web page) and the Ambassador Program has been replaced with the use of Survey Monkey and erevisions. STRATEGIC PLAN PRIORITY UPDATES: Goal #1 and Priority #1 USGA Membership Initiative Proactively explore issues concerning the USGA membership initiative to ensure WGANC is still an Organization in Goal #2 Redefine the Duties of the Board of Directors to encourage more WGANC women to give of their time - Due to the limited number of returning directors and low recruitment for the year 2017, the committee agreed to modify some of the time requirements of returning directors.
