BATHURST GOLF CLUB BY-LAWS Golf Golf is a game, which depends, a great deal on tradition and long custom for its charm. It follows quite naturally that a Golf Club is a conservative institution. This conservatism should extend to the choice of dress and generally in the standard of conduct on the Course and in the Clubhouse. It cannot be over-emphasised that the fundamental Rule is consideration to one s fellow member. The status of a Golf Club may be judged by the etiquette of its members. It is always better to give a point rather than take one. Reciprocal Arrangements Members are advised that reciprocal arrangements have been effected with the Clubs listed in the current program book. Subscriptions In the case of all members, the financial year shall be from 1 st July to 30 th June each year. Subscriptions are due and payable in advance-they may be paid in instalments in such amounts, proportions and on such days as the Board may determine from time to time. Members who are one month in arrears in regard to payment of fees cannot retain membership privileges. Dress Regulations In order to maintain a standard suitable to the Club, members are requested to pay attention to their dress and the dress of any visitor they introduce. The following should be regarded as a minimum. Course: During competitions Neat casual clothes at all times. Shirts must have a collar (no collar, no play). Golf shoes or joggers ONLY White or coloured sport socks allowed Long football socks not allowed During social rounds Course Dress Regulations are at the Professional s discretion. Neat casual clothes at all times. Shirts must have a collar (no collar, no play). Golf shoes or joggers ONLY

Attire NOT permitted includes football clothing, singlet type shirts, T-shirts without collar, advertising type T-shirts, track type clothing, board/beach/athletics type short, and clothing considered to be of an offensive nature. Clubhouse: Clubhouse Dress Regulations are at the General Manager s discretion. Neat casual dress at all times. Work clothing allowed Monday to Friday up till 7.00 p.m. No singlet tops at any time. Visitors Any member introducing a visitor shall be responsible for the conduct of such visitor, and should accompany him/her at all times. No visitor shall be supplied with liquor on the premises unless at the invitation and in the company of a member. Excluding Open days and invitation days, visiting members of recognised Golf Clubs, affiliated with the AGU may, at the discretion of the club professional and subject to conditions regarding members rights of play, play in a Club competition. Etiquette of Golf (As per the Rules of Golf) Courtesy on the Course Consideration of Other Players In the interest of all, players should play without delay. No player should play until the players in front are out of range. Players searching for a ball should signal the players behind them to pass as soon as it becomes apparent that the ball will not be easily found; they should search for five minutes before doing so. They should not continue play until the players following them have passed and are out of range. When the play of a hole has been completed players should immediately leave the putting green. Behaviour During Play No one should move, talk or stand close to or directly behind the ball or the hole when a player is addressing the ball or making a stroke. The player who has the honour should be allowed to play before their opponent or their fellow-competitor tees his/her ball. The Club, however, promotes and recommends the use of ready golf as a means of speeding up play. Priority on the Course In the absence of special rules, two-ball matches should have precedence over and be entitled to pass any three or four-ball match. A single player has no standing and should give way to a match of any kind. Any match playing a whole round is entitled to pass a match playing a shorter round. If a match fails to keep its place on the course and loses more than one clear hole on the players in front, it should allow the following match to pass.

Slow Play Policy INTRODUCTION This policy applies to all amateur golfers for all events & competitions conducted by The Bathurst Golf Club in addition to any other tournament conditions, local rules or other Special Event requirements. 1 Speed of Play 1.1 Preamble Each Player in each group shall endeavour to maintain these standards of pace of play, whilst adhering to commonly accepted standards of golfing etiquette and sportsmanship. Any group more than one fairway behind the group in front shall be considered out of place in the field. As a Bathurst Golf Club member you are expected to actively assist your group maintain its place in the field. 1.2 Guidelines As a general guide, each group is expected to complete each hole 14 minutes after tee-off. This means completion of the first nine holes should be completed in two hours and five minutes. The eighteen holes should be completed in four and one quarter (4¼) hours from initial tee-off, allowing for a 5 minute half-way break. Any group out of place in the field should actively seek to improve their pace of play and consider themselves as having received a warning. Any group unable to maintain the expected pace of play and which has lost its place in the field may be subject to a penalty without further warning. 2 Penalties 2.1 Range of Penalties Depending on the nature of the competition, the weather and the number of penalties may include: (i) a one stroke penalty or; (ii) a two stroke penalty or; (iii) a disciplinary report for a player who continually fails to keep up with play. Penalties (i) and (ii) will normally be applied to all Players of a group. 3 Avoiding Penalties 3.1 Supporting Fellow Members i) Players must be ready to tee off 15 minutes prior to their allotted tee time. See also Conditions of Play ii) Players must be ready to play their shot at all times. iii) Carts and pull buggies are to be parked in the direction of the next tee. iv) Clear each green as soon as the last Player has completed the hole. v) Scorecards are to be marked on the next tee, not on or near the greens. If the group

ahead is already out of range, the first player is to tee off, then mark the scorecard with the result of the previous hole. vi) Do not take excessive practice swings and do not replay putts after completing the hole when other groups are following. vii) In other than stroke competitions, pick up your ball when you cannot score. viii) In the event of a lost ball call the following group through immediately. It is the duty of all players to keep up with the group in front, not in front of the group behind. If each Player in a group can shave just five seconds from each shot, the group can improve the time taken to play a round by up to twenty minutes. This provides an opportunity for all following Players to enjoy their game. Care of the Course Holes in Bunkers Before leaving a bunker a player should carefully fill up and smooth over all holes and footprints made by him/her. The rake is to be placed in the MIDDLE of the bunker once repairs are completed. Restore Divots and Ball Marks Through the green a player should ensure that any turf cut or displaced is replaced at once, pressed down and filled with sand, and that any damage to the putting green made by the ball or the player is carefully repaired. All players are reminded to carry and use sand buckets at all times. This includes players carrying their clubs. Damage to Greens - Flagsticks, Bags, etc. Players should ensure that when putting down bags or the flagstick, no damage is done to the putting green and that neither they nor their caddies damage a hole by standing close to it, in handling the flagstick or in removing the ball from the hole. The flagstick should be properly replaced in the hole before the players leave the putting green. Golf buggies must not be wheeled across greens. All bags and buggies MUST be left clear of the green while putting out on the green. Golf Carts Golf carts may be used under the conditions set down by the Committee and Professional. The used of carts during Championships and tournaments IS ALLOWED. Golf carts must not be driven to closer than 10 metres from any green. Damage Through Practice Swings In taking practice swings players should avoid causing damage to the course, particularly the tees, by repairing divots. Sand Buckets Sand buckets must be carried and used by all players whenever using the course. This also includes all players carrying their clubs. Par three holes have sand in buckets on tees to fill divots The Hole

Members are prohibited from removing the ball with the blade of their putter but may remove the ball from the hole with a suction cap or ball claw attached to the handle. Complaints All complaints should be made in writing to the General Manager who, if unable to satisfy them, shall submit them to the Board of Directors. No employee of the Club shall be directly reprimanded by an individual member. Complaints re golf competitions should be made to the match committee as per the rules of golf. Special Notice to Players Patronise your own Professional. Balls are not to be purchased from persons on the course. Members are asked to note that persons searching for balls are not permitted on the course at any time unless authorised by the Professional. Please check all persons on the course not playing golf. Members are requested to accept responsibility to see that all social players, juniors, visitors and fellow members observe the necessary requirements for conduct, preservation and maintenance of the course. All course notices must be strictly observed. Walk briskly between shots. Always pick up when you are unable to score in Stableford or Par events. When marking a ball on the green, please use a small coin or marker. Practice Rules Practice on the course before a competition outside defined practice areas may result in disqualification. See Rule 7-1b. Continuous practice (more than two balls) is permitted only from defined practice areas. In practice rounds a member may play two balls ONLY - but in doing so must not delay the play of others on the course. The following are prohibited: Continuous shots from tees Continuous shots from fairways. Continuous shots to or on any playing putting green. Continuous shots from course bunkers. The putting surface of the Practice Green is a practice area ONLY for putting. (NO chipping allowed.) When hitting balls from the practice area, ensure that practice balls are clearly marked. Car Park Members are requested to observe the etiquette required in the Parking Area. A few moments care by everyone will result in the maximum number of cars being accommodated. The nose

of the car should be as close as possible to the kerb thus providing a clear driveway behind the car. Take care that the car is between the guide lines. The Club takes no responsibility for damage to vehicles in the Club s car park. Conditions of Play Members and Visitors may only play when and where directed by the Professional, Captain or General Manager. No groups larger than four (4) players are permitted at any time, unless authorised by the Professional, Captain or General Manager. Starting a competition, or cutting in at any other tee, unless officially directed to do so is strictly forbidden. The Match Committee reserves the right to alter the program, conditions and/or method of play at any time and at the discretion of the Professional under certain circumstances. On the day of a competition the names and times on the starting sheet become the time and order of starting. Players unable to attend or be punctual must notify the Starter in advance. Players are requested to report 10 minutes before hit off time. Players late on the tee are in breach of Rule 6 and may only hit off at the starter s discretion. Players who fail to notify the starter that they are unable to attend may be requested to explain the circumstances in writing to the General Manager. Repeat offenders will be subject to suspension. Except for specially drawn events, all players MUST place their name on draw on their computer or at the Club computers at the designated starting times for the competition they intend to play in. If a player has not reported to the starter by the time he/she is called up to the tee, the starter is to inform the group to tee up without the player. If the group wishes to wait for the player, the starter should inform the group to move aside and let the field through. The starter will advise the group that a new time will be allocated to them if available. Under no circumstances will the individual or group be allowed to join the field without the starter s permission. They must be read in conjunction with the Rules of Golf and in particular the Committee shall lay down the conditions under which a competition shall be played (Rule 33). STROKE (Medal) The score at each hole is entered on the score card, totalled and the player s full handicap deducted. The player who completes the stipulated round in the fewest net strokes will be the winner. Usually a gross winner is also determined. PAR In Par play the score is entered on the card in the same way as in stroke play with the exception that where the score exceeds par for the hole, after allowing for handicap stroke (if the player is in receipt of one) the score need not be written in. It is the custom that when a player is beaten by Par, the ball shall be picked up. This helps speed up play. After entering the stroke score on the card, the result is marked in the column provided with a + sign for a win, a 0 for a half, a - for a loss. At the end of the round the plus and minus signs are added and the net result written is as so many up down or all square. A player is allowed his full stroke handicap and the strokes are taken at holes as indicated on the card. Where the handicap is more than 18, two strokes will be allowed on the number of holes that the handicap exceeds 18. These strokes will be taken in the same order as followed for the first 18 holes unless the index goes beyond 18. STABLEFORD

This system of scoring by points was introduced by Dr Frank Stableford of the Wallasey Golf Club (Liverpool, England) in 1932, and has become very popular. The popular method of playing a stableford competition is for the player to take strokes at holes as in a par competition using full handicap and to score points for the net result at each hole. At the end of the round all points scored are added up and the player having the highest number of points is the winner. In scoring after allowing for handicaps, a player who scores par receives 2 points, for 1 over par 1 point, for a birdie or 1 under par 3 points, for an eagle or 2 under par 4 points, and so on. For example, a player receiving a stroke on a par 4 hole scores 4 giving a net 3 strokes; for this he receives 3 points. A player at a par 3 hole scores a 4 but does not receive a stroke; for this he would receive 1 point. FOUR-BALL PAR Two players play as partners each taking strokes at holes as in a par competition. If one of the partners wins a hole and the other halves it, only the win is counted. If one halves a hole with par and the other loses it only the half is counted and so on. Plus, half and minus signs are added at the end of the round and recorded as in ordinary par competition. In a four-ball handicap event care must be taken to mark the scores of each player in separate columns headed by the initials of the player. If the scores are mixed and it is impossible for the Committee to check the card the players will be disqualified. FOUR-BALL STABLEFORD Played in exactly the same manner as above except the better ball of the partnership will be credited with points instead of plus, half or minus. FOURSOME Two players play as partners and use one ball. The partners strike off alternately from the tee and thereafter strike the ball alternately during the play of each hole. Scoring is done as for a stroke round and the total is subject to a deduction of half the players aggregate handicaps. Note: if either player incurs a penalty stroke it does not alter the rotation of play. In a foursome stroke play competition which consists of more than one stipulated round the order of play may be changed between rounds unless the committee has laid down as a condition of play that the original order of play must be preserved throughout the competition. GENERAL All the foregoing competitions are forms of stroke play and subject to the rules governing stroke play. Special rules for Par and Stableford competitions are set out in Rule 32. Rule 31 covers the special rules for four ball Par and Stableford competitions. Foursomes may be played under either stroke play rules or match play conditions and Rule 29 is relevant to foursomes events. In addition to the competitions listed above, many clubs conduct competitions which are not specifically covered in the rules of golf. Some of the more popular types of play are listed below together with suggestions regarding methods of conducting these events. It cannot be too strongly emphasized however, that since these competitions are not covered by the rules of golf, the committee must carefully lay down in advance and publish the conditions of play. The State association will not, except in the

most exceptional circumstances, give a decision on any query submitted when play is conducted otherwise that in accordance with the rules. MIXED FOUR-BALL PAR OR STABLEFORD These games are played as described previously except that the lady plays from her own tees, using her own scorecard, local rules etc. The result is only transferred to her partners card when her score for the hole is better than his. Care must be taken when checking the card to refer to the ladies card when dealing with holes halved or won by her. There are some variations to this depending on the Club. In some instances the lady plays on her full handicap using the ladies card as described above, in other cases, on 7/8 handicap, using the ladies card. Again, she may be on full handicap and using the men s card. There are also exceptional instances where ladies play from ¾ handicap and the men s card is used. These last two methods are the least satisfactory. MIXED FOURSOMES Mixed foursomes are played in the same manner as foursomes except that the ladies use their own tees and observe their own local rules when it is their turn to play. The committee should lay down as a condition of play whether the male or female is required to play from the first tee, and in competitions played under stroke conditions, and consisting of more than one stipulated round whether this order is to be preserved. AUSSIE SIX PACK This competition is played under 4 Ball Best Ball stableford rules. Holes 1 to 6 the team s best score is recorded, Holes 7 to 12 the aggregate score of both players is recorded and Holes 13 to 18 the score of both players is multiplied and recorded on scorecard. The total score for the team is the addition of all scores FOUR PERSON ACCUMULATOR Played by teams of three or four players under stableford scoring format For teams of four players, scoring is as follows Holes 1 to 6 best individual score is recorded Holes 7 to 11 best 2 scores are recorded Holes 12 to 15 best 3 scores are recorded Holes 16 to 18 all 4 scores are recorded Team s total score is the additions of all scores For teams of three players, scoring is as follows Holes 1 to 8 best individual score is recorded Holes 9 to 14 best two scores are recorded Holes 15 to 18 all scores are recorded The team s total score is determined by the addition of all scores multiplied by 1.25 AMBROSE (SCRAMBLE) COMPETITION
