8 Barnardo s Registered Charity Nos and SC SO17 Building Life s Foundations for Care Leavers The 2017 Quarry Investments Barnardo s Scotland Golf Day is raising funds for our Gap Homes Initiative Average age leaving home in UK: 25 Average age leaving care in Scotland: The main issues facing care leavers: Limited life skills and resilience Barriers to education, employment and training Unsuitable accommodation Care leavers, with the right roof over their head and the necessary support and guidance, can successfully manage their own lives, creating a home and future for themselves. Gap Homes will provide transitionary accommodation and practical support for up to two years. This is an innovative, cost-effective, safe and supportive route out of care and into independence.
