Eindhovensche Golf H. S. Colt (1930) Course Guide
Welcome to the Eindhovensche Golf The initiative for the Eindhovensche Golf was taken in the late 1920 s by Mr and Mrs Philips de Jongh. When touring the area near Valkenswaard they found a beautiful wide expanse of heathland called Nederheide. They decided to purchase the land and use it for an 18-hole golf course. The famous English architect H.S. Colt was commissioned to design the golf course. After inspection of the land construction quickly started in co-operation with landscape architect Copijn from Utrecht. The greens were seeded by November 1928, but the severe winter of 1928/29 caused a delay in completion of the proposed construction. It wasn t until autumn 1929 that the as the Eindhovensche Golf, despite its location outside of Eindhoven. In the meantime the construction of the clubhouse was underway: a country house style designed by the architects Hanrath & Briët from Hilversum. This spacious clubhouse still graces the course today. The beautiful and daring leaded window, above the staircase, was created by Joep Nicolas in Over the years various updates, to both the course and the clubhouse, have been made, resulting in a modern golfclub with great respect for tradition and its rich history. The Eindhovensche Golf is a challenging inland links design in a beautiful wood and heathland area. The course has hosted many national and international tournaments. It has the reputation of being one of the best balanced 18-hole courses in the Netherlands. We welcome you and hope you enjoy your round. Welcome
Course Character A challenging inland links course in the beautiful wood and heathland area south of Eindhoven. The course was designed by H.S. Colt in 1928 and has hosted many national and international tournaments. The most demanding holes are the 3rd, 7th, 10th, 13th and overlooking four holes and the historical natural swimming pool. Course Character
Permanent Local Rules 1. Out of Bounds is beyond the fence surrounding the course and lines of white stakes behind the 9th and 18th greens and to the left of the 18th green. 2. All roads and paths are integral parts of the course, except the road crossing the 10th fairway. 3. Relief may be taken from intervention by immovable obstructions within two clublenghts of the putting green when the ball lies within two clublenghts of the immovable obstruction in accordance with the specimen Local Rule in app. I, part B6 of the Rules of Golf. 4. A player may obtain distance information by use of a distance measuring device. Attention 8th and 11th greens are immovable obstructions. - Do not play when green-keeper s - Distances in metres to centre green - Red/white stakes indicate 150 metres to center green Local Rules
A typical opening hole, nice wide fairway with few surprises. The tee shot should be landing to the left of the bunker. The right of the green is the best option for the approach shot. Be Warned: too far right and out of bounds results in a penalty, if in doubt, drop short. 384 Hole 1 Par 4 Stroke 8
A relatively short but strategically tricky par 4. Longhitters can go green. Hole 2 Par 4 Stroke 16
This par 3 has all the charistics of typical inland links. Avoiding the hump to the right of the green is advised. The best option is to keep to the left of the green. Hole 3 Par 3 Stroke 6
Keeping left with the tee shot is a must on this par 5. Long-hitters can reach the green in two, others should try to drop infront of the fairway bunkers. An approach shot to centre or slightly left of the green is the best option. Hole 4 Par 5 Stroke 12
A par 4 with options and a few bunkers to spice things up. Aim for the bunker to the right of the fairway. Club choice is vital for the approach shot, dropping to the left, right or short of the green will require another stroke to reach the green. Hole 5 Par 4 Stroke 4
From the tee aim for the left side of the fairway, this leaves the player in a good position to attack the green. Hitting the green is a must, too far to the left of the green and a difficult up and down is required, too far to the right and a hidden bunker awaits. Hole 6 Par 4 Stroke 14
A perfect drive should fade towards the middle or slightly to the left of the dogleg. If the green can t be reached with the second stroke it s best to aim towards the left of the green. This leaves a nice chip for the pin. Hole 7 Par 4 Stroke 2
Hitting the middle of the green is the only tee shot to play here. to be spot on. Hole 8 Par 3 Stroke 18
A tee shot to around the middle of the left-hand side of the fairway will set up a great chance of reaching the green in 2. Approach shots must always be to the right side of the green. Balls dropping short of the green often end up heading towards the bunker on the left. Hole 9 Par 5 Stroke 10
This is the longest of the par 4 s. Dropping short of the green or to the right of the green can present a chance for players to attack the pin with a dainty up and down. Hole 10 Par 4 Stroke 1
A very pleasant par 3 with a redan-green. A tee shot towards the right of the green is a safe bet. However, too far right, and the bunkers can and will ruin a great chance of at least par. Hole 11 Par 3 Stroke 17
Keep the tee shot in front of the bunker on the right or towards the middle. Dropping short of the green is the safest option. Overhitting the hole. Hole 12 Par 4 Stroke 9
A draw from the tee is a good option, out on the left there is a surprising amount of space and the green opens up beautifully. A tee shot to the right of the fairway is the safer option but requires good accuracy, the narrow passageway between the bunkers can be unforgiving. Hole 13 Par 4 Stroke 3
The longhitters should be going down the right side of the fairway. Otherwise a tee shot in front of the bunker is the best alternative. Again distance and accuracy are vital missing the green can leave a Hole 14 Par 4 Stroke 11
Longhitters can expect to be on or very close to the green in 2. A long tee shot to the left of the fairway will leave a great chance to make the green with the next shot. There is plenty of room down to the left of the fairway bunkers. The second shot from the bighitters needs to be in the centre of the green or slightly to the left of the center. Hole 15 Par 5 Stroke 13
The scenery on this par 3 is breathtaking. The Galgenven, which sits behind the green and the the clubhouse are both sights to behold. It does have a big green but it is also protected by 3 bunkers and a nasty slope at the front of the green. Make sure there is enough on the tee shot as over shooting is preferable to dropping short. Hole 16 Par 3 Stroke 15
A teeshot to the middle or slightly to the left of the fairway is preferred as this keeps you well clear of the trees and bushes. The second shot is usually kept between the 2 fairway tree s and in front of the water. Avoid the green bunker at all costs so it s either over the bunker or to the left side of the green. Hole 17 Par 5 Stroke 5
With the clubhouse watching most players are content with a solid par. Longhitters usually go left and past the bunker. If the green in 2 is too ambitious, a shorter tee shot means you have a lot more fairway to use. Aim for left of centre when chipping onto the green. Hole 18 Par 4 Stroke 7
