I would like to thank the dedicated members of the NDApHC for your ongoing support of our club and the Appaloosa breed. My first year as President has been a learning experience, and I am grateful for the vicepresident, Tracy Dalstead, the board of directors, secretary, treasurer, past president, Bill Cook, and my wife, Abra, for the help and guidance throughout the year. I hope your 2014 activities with your Appaloosas were safe, enjoyable, and successful whether in the show pen, on trail rides, on the ranch, in the breeding business, or any of the other numerous activities in which the versatile Appaloosa breed is capable. I would like to congratulate all of the NDApHC members that competed at the 2014 ApHC World Show in Fort Worth, TX this fall because you and your equine partners were all great representatives of our club. I would also like to congratulate the club members recognized at the 2014 Annual Meeting award ceremony for your hard work and accomplishments. I want to encourage all of our club members to participate in the various activities sponsored by the club during the year. The Appaloosa breed is what brings us together, and I encourage you to promote our NDApHC club, our club sponsored events, and the Appaloosa breed. I look forward to seeing all of our club members and their Appaloosas at NDApHC events in Have a happy and blessed holiday season with safe travels in the upcoming winter months. A big thank you to all of our board members that have worked hard over the past year, and a congratulations to Rhonda Elkin and Nicky Overgaard on their election to the BOD!...Also a thank you to Tracy Dalstead for running the meeting in Rylan s absence. A successful Membership meeting was held with some great new ideas that will hopefully take stride in 2015, as well as some previous ideas (remember those awesome calendars?!) that resurfaced! After the Membership meeting was a tasty meal complete with Appaloosa cupcakes. Following the meal was the presentation of Year-End Awards. A huge congratulations to all of those that received awards! (High Points are included in this Newsletter!) It was great to see how many leadline kiddos we had and an expanding Youth group! We wrapped up with a fun White Elephant auction. The NDApHC has a great year planned with something for everyone clinics, trail rides, and shows. We hope to see you out and about on your Appaloosa! 8 Member Submissions & News... A Thank You... Hi Everyone, I just wanted to say Thank You to everyone in the NDApHC for the beautiful flowers you sent for my daughters funeral. I can not begin to tell you what it meant to me when I walked to the front of the church to read the flower cards and seen the flowers from the club. I also want to say Thank you for the money donated to the savings account for my 3 beautiful grand children who are now with out there mommies. Thank you Kristine for the beautiful card! Life will never have the same meaning but I know my girls wouldn t want me to ever stop showing. 9 Member Submissions & News Con t... An Update & Thank you... River Bend Appaloosas are proud and thankful for all the help they had to make this such a successful year. We have made an important goal with the help of many people. The friends, and 4H ers that leased and bought our foals made great success in their achievements. The Veterinarians, friends, my daughter Heather, Easton Brown and Corri Bell all helping with chores, banding, last minute Health Papers, and thanks to Frank who has PUSHed me all Summer to complete this item on my bucket list. And we are so PROUD of the people that have such Success with the River Bend Horses. We have Great Friends and Cheerleaders. At World He stood in the Top 5 in his 2 classes Open and Non Pro Weanling Geldings and winning the Doug Schembri award of $1172. He now has 6 points in Non Pro Geldings, 1.5 in Weanlings and 1 in Colorful. Hard to get points with no one else in the classes

Bobby is a 2012 gelding by the AQHA stallion PS GoodBars Kat and out of the ApHC mare Rock N Lope. He is a full brother to the gelding Plain N Simple who is currently 4th in the nation in 3 year old western pleasure. This is Joan's first foray into Appaloosas. Previously a successful breeder and exhibitor of Arabians and Pinto horses! Congrats and Best of Luck to Joan! Welcome to the Appaloosa breed! Watch for these newly purchased spots in 2015: Ivan Gandrud new reiner, Gunnin For Chex Steve Eidsness new reiner, Ima Smokin Frosty More Congratulations: Crystal Pitkin of Missouri Ledge Appaloosas would like to congratulate the following home-raised horses that went on to win at the Worlds with their new owners! Colored By Vino and Heath Wilkerson were Reserve WC in the Limited 2 Year Old Western Pleasure Futurity The Black One and Justin Britton were Reserve WC in the 3 Year Old WP Two Timin Chip and Lisa Ligon were WC in the Jr Western Riding for Patti Kanegae. Halter Clinic: This past September Hiatt Show Horses offered it's first halter clinic. Laurence Hiatt hosted the clinic at our place in Hankinson, ND. We had a great turnout and everyone that attended, whether they brought a horse or not, got hands on teaching them how to show and fit their horse. The clinic was 2 days and we covered everything from setting up their horse, to conformation, feeding, grooming, clipping, and proper dress for both the exhibitor and proper fitting of a show halter. 13 Youth News... A quick tidbit from our very own National Youth Director, Shae Lynn Johnson. It was a pretty quiet year. We did a silent auction fundraiser for the Youth World Jackets, and also had an AYA Costume contest. It is now time for all Youth members to vote for directors. You can go to and follow the directions. You will need your membership number and last time to cast your vote. You can also keep up to date with AYA happenings on that website or on Facebook just look up the Appaloosa Youth Association. The AYA sponsors quite a few contests throughout the year so take advantage of them! (More information on contests: AYA Contest Information) A Note From the Reporter... It was great to see so many of you members at the Annual Meeting and Awards! I know I have 3 very excited kiddos about the loot they brought home...and a 2 year old that is still wired. It sounds like another exciting and busy year for the NDApHC with calendars making a come back, shows, clinics and trail rides. Oh my! MEMBERS! Please send me news!!! I would like to try and get a minimum of 4 newsletters out each year more if I have enough news! You can send it via snail mail, , Facebook, etc. And send stuff ANY time! After bugging at the meeting, I did get quite a few of you to send stuff in and a huge thank you to those members that got stuff submitted! Didn t get something in on time? No big deal. Just send it to me and I will set it aside for the next Newsletter. To make things easier, I am setting submission deadlines for future use. (find at the end of my babbling). I am not only in charge of Newsletters now, but also am taking on the general publicity. If you have any ideas or ways to get the Club more exposure, please pass them on.
