1 March 2014 Newsletter I saw God today. Wonderful song by the master George Strait. He sings about seeing God everywhere. We've probably all seen God from time to time not realizing what we saw. We definitely saw God s promise for the future of the CON ApHC at the meeting and awards banquet held on March 1st as we watched four little girls. These four little girls don t get to see each other very often but you wouldn't know it by watching them. They have the enthusiasm and energy to do great things as they grow. It is the YOUTH of our club that is the future. These youngsters are the ones who will be carrying on the traditions. The Center of the Nation Appaloosa Horse Club is lucky. We have a great group of youngsters coming up. There are FOUR lead-liners showing right now. What and how we teach them today will be the foundation of how they take care of our club. We need to show them the positives and how to get things done right. It might not always be the easiest way to do things but it will be the right way. My wish is that this group of leadliners (all girls) will continue to be great friends and cheer each other on as they grow older and wiser both in life and in horses. Okay off my soapbox and into the fun stuff. eck out the pictures from the CON ApHC banquet. Lots of laughs and fun!! We also have a flyer detailing what is coming up! Trail rides, clinics and shows are on the agenda. I can t believe the show season is coming up so fast since it has been SO COLD and snowy. Hope to spot you down the trail! A big thanks to Dorine Bennett for taking over and doing the newsletters while my computer was on the fritz and finally died. It is amazing how much of a headache a bad working computer can be. 3 2013 Year End Awards Banquet The Center of the Nation Appaloosa Horse club held their 2013 Year End Award Banquet on March 1st 2014, at Mad Mary s in Flandreau, SD. Despite the cold weather and flurries, the banquet was well attended. Election of officers was held and new faces are on the board. That picture is on the back page listing the officers. The food was fabulous, drinks were awesome and awards were fantastic! Embroidered Thirty-One bags were handed out to winners. The adorable leadline girls were given a drawing tablet and cookware set all decorated with lovable horses. At the end of the night the winners of the 4-H raffle were drawn!! More information on those lucky winners later. Also recognized for their saddle logs were Lori Richards and Loretta Waltner. Both ladies have well over 100 hours on their logs!! Each received a Thirty One embroidered bag as well.

8 A girl and her horse A girl loves horses. Mom buys her daughter a horse. What does that girl do when her horse has a birthday? Makes her a horsey cake and gets a birthday hat for the horse. Our local Youth Appaloosa Director Shae Lynn Johnson celebrated her mare Fegies s birthday in style. It sure looks like Fergie liked the cake but not quite so sure about the hat. Babies, Babies!!! Love those Babies! Stephanie Johnson had a pretty little baby born during this nasty cold weather. Out of a Stop Sign daughter by Hollywood Style, this little foal is adorable! More babies are coming soon!

11 Membership To join the Center of the Nation Appaloosa Horse Club, send the following information and payment to the treasurer (Dorine Bennett, th Avenue, Madison, SD 57042). Dues are $10 for Associate Membership, $20 for Single Club Membership, or $30 for Family Club Membership. Associate Memberships may earn club points, but are not eligible for year-end awards. All memberships will include newsletters, announcements, free posting to CON ApHC website for foal announcements, homepage links and classified ads. Single Club Memberships will have one voting privilege and Family Club Membership will have one voting privilege per adult. List the name and ApHC Number (#) for each member of the family joining.
