3 DRF.COM/BREEDING DAILY RACING FORM Sunday, March 15, 2015 PAGE 3 ADDED QUALITY IN NEW YORK STALLION MARKET Dortmund, by dual classic winner Big Brown, wins the Grade 2 San Felipe Stakes on March 7 at Santa Anita Park. Shigeki Kikkawa By Nicole Russo With several of New York s top stallion farms just a short trip up the Hudson from the trading floors of Wall Street, one shouldn t be surprised to hear stock market principles applied to the horse business. Andrew Cohen used his theory on buying a stock that was depreciated in value, that was maybe overvalued originally, and felt it was a good time to go in and make a move, said Eric Bishop, general manager for Cohen s Sunrise Stallions, of the deal that brought dual classic winner and champion Big Brown to Dutchess Views in Pine Plains, N.Y., from Three Chimneys Farm in Midway, Ky., for the 2015 breeding season. Big Brown is one of several high-class stallions coming to New York at a time when New York-breds are a hot commodity. New York-breds captured 20 graded stakes in 2014, led by the Breeders Cup Filly and Mare Turf winner and Eclipse Award champion Dayatthespa. The program is off to a flying start in 2015, with a pair of Grade 2 winners, International Star and Upstart, near the top of the points leader board for the Kentucky Derby. It s a huge marketing boost, said Jeffrey Cannizzo, executive director of New York Thoroughbred Breeders. It truly shows us the potential of the New York-bred program, with horses like International Star and Upstart. So it s very exciting. The biggest promotional tool any program can have is what happens on the racetrack. International Star and Upstart are both by Kentucky stallions, Fusaichi Pegasus and Flatter, respectively. But with the depth of the New York stallion roster increasing, more future statebred stars should be sired by resident stallions. Big Brown will be the first Kentucky Derby winner to stand in New York since Spectacular Bid, who moved to Milfer Farm in Unadilla, N.Y., in 1992 and remained there until his death in Big Brown won 7 of 8 career starts, including the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes, Florida Derby, and Haskell Invitational, to secure an Eclipse Award as champion 3-year-old male in He retired to Three Chimneys in 2009, standing there until Cohen s Sunrise Stallions and Gary Tolchin s Golden Goose Enterprises acquired a majority interest in him and moved him to New York. Cohen and Tolchin were both part of IEAH Stables, which campaigned the horse in majority. Shortly after the stallion s move to New York, Dortmund emerged as Big Brown s most talented prospect to date. The Grade 1 winner is unbeaten in five career starts and is considered among the favorites for the Kentucky Derby, adding to the excitement of his sire s move. There are some really good New York stallions who are hopefully going to put some more horses on the map, Bishop said. We d love to get more horses like Dayatthespa, coming right from New York stallions. Big Brown is one of several champions Continued on page 4

4 PAGE 4 Sunday, March 15, 2015 DAILY RACING FORM DRF.COM/BREEDING Continued from page 3 or sires of champions now standing in New York. Teuflesberg, sire of the Eclipse Award champion sprinter Trinniberg, moved to McMahon of Saratoga Thoroughbreds for the 2013 season after standing in Florida. One year later, Trinniberg, who capped his championship campaign with a Breeders Cup Sprint victory, joined his sire in the state, entering stud at Rockridge Stud in Hudson, N.Y. There, he stands alongside the perennial leading New York sire Posse, whose top runners include champion male sprinter Kodiak Kowboy. Congaree, a stalwart at Saratoga Stud, came close to joining that elite group last year, as his daughter, Don t Tell Sophia, captured the Grade 1 Spinster Stakes and finished second in the Breeders Cup Distaff to become an Eclipse Award finalist. New York also has added several Grade 1 winners in the last five years due to the investment of major national breeding outfits. Among that group is Darley, which adds the multiple Grade 1 winner Alpha to its roster at Sequel Stallions in Hudson, N.Y., this year, joining the Grade 1 winner Emcee and Grade 2 winner and 2014 leading freshman sire Desert Party. Spendthrift stands the Grade 1 winners Dublin and The Lumber Guy, the latter New York s 2012 Horse of the Year, at Keane Stud in Amenia, N.Y. Helping to draw those stallions to the state is a lucrative program of incentive awards offered through the New York State Thoroughbred Breeding and Development Fund, which was bolstered by the long-awaited arrival of video lottery terminals at Aqueduct in late The program offers awards to stallion owners, along with breeders and owners. The program in New York state is so awesome for the stallions, Bishop said. It s the only state in the country that gives 10 percent for first, second, third. There s no limit to that, either. It s like building up an annuity fund. It takes four or five years to get the process started when you bring a stallion into the state, but the bottom line is it s a great incentive to stand stallions here. The breeder gets twice as much with a New York stallion as opposed to breeding in Kentucky and then shipping in and dropping the foal [in state]. If you go to an outside stallion and have a New York-bred, your awards are limited. It s a great advantage, and the way it s set up, it really entices the broodmare owners to give a New York stallion a shot. The incentives help New York stallions compete with those in surrounding states for mares at a time when the entire nation is adjusting to a shrinking foal crop. The number of mares bred in New York, however, is on the upswing as the market rebounds. In 2010, the Jockey Club s Barbara D. Livingston Teuflesberg, above, and his champion son Trinniberg both stand in New York. Report of Mares Bred listed 1,291 mares bred to New York stallions. That number grew to 1,614 four years later. It s the chicken-egg factor, Cannizzo said. Do the stallions come first, or do the mares come and the stallions follow? It s not easy here in New York, especially. We ve made slow progress toward quality, and we re starting to see more promising stallions. If we can offer the right formula for those breeders, it will happen. You re seeing horses that might not have come to New York coming to New York, all based on the upside and value in our racing. We re absolutely going in the right direction. With the quality of the roster increasing and incentive awards in the mix, New York stallions also face fierce competition for mares amid their own ranks. With that battle in mind, in-house support is key to making stallions, says Erin Robinson of Rockridge. We re fortunate this year to have huge syndicate support behind [Grade 2 winner and first-year stallion] Honorable Dillon, Robinson said. That s what we re looking for for people willing to put their money where their mouth is and support them with mares and get them off to a good start. That s what you really want. Honorable Dillon had about 90 mares before outside breedings. In addition to support from shareholders, attracting mares to stallions requires stud farms to be flexible in making individual arrangements. With New York, the unique situation is so many breeders are the small guys who have been there and hung on by the skin of their teeth so many years waiting for slots, and they managed to weather the storm but then came out of it still very cash-poor, Robinson said. We have to do a lot of deals, co-breeder arrangements and things, if we want the mare but know they don t actually have the cash for the stud fee. We re trying to support the horses, and we need those small breeders to make these horses successful. You do the best you can to support the people who have been around all these years and hung on and supported the state.

Empire State mainstay Freud has finished first or second by earnings among New York stallions with state-sired runners in each of the past seven years, and he has led by turf earnings every year in the same time period. The sustained run at the top of New York s sire standings over the better part of the past decade can be attributed not only to the talent of his foals but their durability. For the breeder looking to [earn New York-bred awards], there s not a better option for moneymaking because he s a proven commodity, said Becky Thomas of Sequel Stallions. When they get to the racetrack, they ll run at 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7, instead of siring horses that fall off after their 3-year-old year. Freud, a 17-year-old son of Storm Cat, stands at Sequel Stallions in Hudson, N.Y., for an advertised fee of $10,000. He finished the 2014 racing season with 78 winners from 161 runners for progeny earnings of $4,505,272. Only Bluegrass Cat, whose first New York-sired foals were 2-year-olds last year, had higher earnings, but he departed for California for the 2015 breeding season. Freud s eight stakes winners tied him with fellow veteran New York sire Posse for the state s most last year, while his 10 progeny stakes wins gave Freud sole possession of the top spot in that category. His seventh straight season at the top of New York s turf sire list comprised 27 winners from 88 starters for earnings of $2,180,098. Freud also led New York s sires NEW YORK GENERAL SIRES BY 2014 PROGENY EARNINGS RANK SIRE (BORN, SIRE) 2015 FARM STUD FEE RNRS WNRS EARNINGS 1 Freud (1998, Storm Cat) Sequel Stallions New York $10, $4,505,272 2 Posse (2000, Silver Deputy) Rockridge Stud 5, ,325,697 3 Big Brown (2005, Boundary) Dutchess Views Farm 8, ,218,036 4 Noble Causeway (2002, Giant s Causeway) Died ,320,408 5 Congaree (1998, Arazi) Saratoga Stud 7, ,170,083 with four turf stakes winners who won five stakes in total on grass. No other horse has exemplified the longevity of Freud s runners like his alltime leading earner, Lubash, who once again carried the standard for his sire in 2014 at age 7. A stalwart in the New York-bred turf stakes division, Lubash won 4 of 7 starts last year, never finishing worse than second and earning $311,720. He ventured to Florida for the first time in November to win the Grade 3 Tropical Turf Handicap at Gulfstream Park West, capping off a campaign that included a win in the Ashley T. Cole Stakes at Belmont and placings in a trio of New York-bred turf stakes at Saratoga and Belmont. Other 2014 stakes winners for Freud included Mah Jong Maddnes, Dreamsgonewild, Freudie Anne, and Drewsasin. Grade 2-placed Effie Trinket and Skinner Box also padded their sire s stakes résumé. Freud also has begun to grab a foothold in the Southern Hemisphere, having shuttled to Argentina in Leading the group was Alex Rossi, Peru s champion imported 3-year-old colt and the winner of the Group 1 Peruvian Two Thousand Guineas. Group 2 winner Must Go On, who finished third in the Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini, an Argentine classic, stood out among Freud s first Southern Hemisphere-bred runners in Argentina. They are very sound horses, so when you get going with them, you don t have the stops and starts that you have with a more fragile sire line, Thomas said about Freud s foals. They re sturdy, they ve got good bone to them. They re very Storm Cat-looking, but they re bigger. Bred in Kentucky by Orpendale, Freud is out of the multiple Grade 2-winning Rahy mare Mariah s Storm, making him a full brother to European Horse of the Year and leading U.S. sire Giant s Causeway. Freud s conception came about as a backup plan for the Coolmore partnership, which bought Mariah s Storm with Giant s Causeway in utero for $2.6 million at the 1996 Keeneland November breeding stock sale with intentions of breeding her to their new stallion, Horse of the Year Cigar. When Cigar proved to be sterile, the mare was sent back to Storm Cat for her second mating, with Freud as the resulting foal. On the racetrack, Freud won 1 of 12 starts in England, Ireland, and France for earnings of $44,016. He finished third in the English Group 2 Cork & Orrery Stakes at Ascot. Follow Joe Nevills on

So far, so good. The 9-year-old son of Street Cry led all current New York sires by first-crop earnings, with his initial foals of Kentuckysired runners comprising nine winners from 38 starters and earnings of $474,780. The figure more than doubled the progeny earnings of the second-place freshman sire, Musket Man, who moved to New York for the 2015 season after beginning his stud career in Louisiana. Desert Party stands at Sequel Stallions for an advertised fee of $7,500 for the 2015 breeding season. Becky Thomas of Sequel Stallions said the best is yet to come for both Desert Party and his foals. We re just waiting for the big horse, Thomas said. He s got some good horses out there that haven t started or are coming back, so we are watching carefully to see what happens. He had a great sales year, and they re being well received. Desert Party s first crop of juveniles was led by Heart s Song, a filly out of the Cryptoclearance mare Secret Psalm who won 2 of 6 starts in 2014 and earned $138,910. The filly competed at tracks across the Midwest, winning the City of Anderson Stakes at Indiana Grand. She finished third in the Grade 2 Golden Rod Stakes at Churchill Downs, along with two other stakes placings. Desert Party s graded-level offspring also include Can t Happen Here, who finished third in the Grade 3 Bourbon Stakes at Keeneland. They re big, stretchy, bold babies, Thomas said. They have really good balance. They have good hips, good shoulders, but they re not rippling with muscles. You see a lot of distance to them. Pretty movers. Thomas said she is looking forward to the progress Desert Party s first crop makes into age 3 and beyond, noting his progeny are built and bred to excel at two turns instead of the shorter distances often asked of juveniles. Of the Desert Partys that I trained last year, there was only one that was very, very quick, and the rest of them were horses that I felt like were going to be seven-furlong-or-better horses, she said. I see a horse that looks like he ought to get his best distance being a little longer than a sprint, not a 5 1/2-furlong-type horse. Desert Party himself did the bulk of his running at seven furlongs or longer, winning 6 of 10 starts and earning $928,467. He began his career in the U.S., winning the Grade 2 Sanford Stakes at Saratoga, then was sent to the United Arab Emirates to train for the 2009 Kentucky Derby. He won the Group 3 UAE Two Thousand Guineas at Nad al Sheba, then finished second by a half-length in the Group 2 UAE Derby before shipping back to compete at Churchill Downs. He returned to Dubai at age 4, winning the Group 3 Mahab al Shimaal at the newly opened Meydan Racecourse before returning once again to the U.S. He made his final start in the Donald Levine Memorial Handicap at the former Philadelphia Park, winning by 3 1/2 lengths. Bred in Kentucky by David Smith and Steven Sinatra, Desert Party is out of the winning Tabasco Cat mare Sage Cat. He is among five winners out of Sage Cat, who also produced stakes winner Elliecat. Desert Party drew headlines as a juvenile when selling to John Ferguson, bloodstock adviser for Sheikh Mohammed al-maktoum, for $2.1 million at the 2008 Fasig-Tipton Florida select 2-year-olds in training sale. After his retirement from the track, Desert Party began his stud career in 2011 at Darley s Jonabell Farm in Lexington, Ky. His first crop consists of 86 foals, according to The Jockey Club. Desert Party is the latest success in the partnership between Darley and Sequel Stallions, which also stands Darley s Grade 1 winners Alpha and Emcee. The New York farm began standing stallions for Darley in 2012, with the debut of the Grade 1 winner Girolamo, who since has been relocated back to Kentucky.

The sire is back in the headlines with his unbeaten Grade 1 winner Dortmund among the leading contenders for the Kentucky Derby. In the 3-year-old filly ranks, Big Brown has Puca, well regarded after a 16-length maiden romp last fall at Belmont, although she was recently fourth in the Grade 2 Davona Dale Stakes. We re rooting for Dortmund, obviously, and rooting for Puca, said Eric Bishop, general manager for Sunrise Stallions, part of the team that purchased Big Brown to stand at Dutchess Views for We re hoping for a Big Brown double the first weekend in May. That s what you root for. You hope to get lucky and hope for certain things to happen, and it all falls in place. You need a lot of luck in this game. You try to make the right decisions and hope for the best. Things certainly appear to be falling in place for Andrew Cohen s Sunrise Stallions and Gary Tolchin s Golden Goose Enterprises, which acquired a majority interest in Big Brown last fall and moved him to Dutchess Views. He rebounded to add a fourth Grade 1 victory in the Haskell Invitational, then won the Monmouth Stakes on turf before foot problems that had plagued him throughout his career forced him into retirement. He was honored with the Eclipse Award as champion 3-year-old male of Through March 9, Big Brown had sired 140 winners, including 15 stakes winners, from his first four crops for combined earnings of $9,866,621. Dortmund appears to be his most talented prospect. The colt won all three of his starts as a juvenile, capped by a track-record performance in the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Futurity. He opened his 3-year-old campaign with a pair of graded stakes tallies in California, taking the Robert B. Lewis Stakes and San Felipe Stakes to push his career bankroll to $689,400. He is expected to have his final Kentucky Derby prep in the Santa Anita Derby on April 4. Big Brown also was represented by the filly Nicky s Brown Miss, who made eight starts as a juvenile in Her résumé is highlighted by a win in the Kentucky Downs Juvenile Fillies Stakes last September. She has placed in three other stakes. The sire s other juvenile standouts in 2014 were Red Sashay, who won the Our Dear Peggy Stakes at Gulfstream Park, and Eminencia, a stakes winner in Panama. Dortmund is Big Brown s first Grade 1 winner but the hope is that the best is still to come as the stallion s first New York foals begin arriving next year. I think one of the positives we were looking at is that maybe he started too young, Bishop said. We really believe most stallions really mature probably at age 6. And, unfortunately, the trend has been to capitalize on a lot of the horses when they re younger because they re fresh in people s minds. But it seems the older stallions do a little bit better. So we wondered if maybe Big Brown has not thrown the kind of stamina and strength he could have been. We re hoping [the market] is going to forgive his first two crops, and that he ll start kicking in. Follow Nicole Russo on

13 EXTENDING THE LINE DRF.COM/BREEDING DAILY RACING FORM Sunday, March 15, 2015 PAGE 13 JOHN P. SPARKMAN As we have discussed in this space on several occasions, the Storm Cat male line has not flourished in exactly the manner breeders anticipated when his yearlings were all the rage during the first five years of the 21st century. Among Storm Cat s sons, only Giant s Causeway developed into a genuinely top sire, and Giant s Causeway s champion son Shamardal has already passed on the male line to his highweighted son Lope de Vega, leading 2014 freshman sire in Europe. One other branch of the Storm Cat male line has successfully extended to the third generation, that descending through Hennessy, a brilliant 2-year-old who never raced after his juvenile season. Winner of the Grade 1 Hopeful and Grade 2 Sapling and Hollywood Juvenile Championship and second to Unbridled s Song in a memorable Breeders Cup Juvenile, Hennessy was a good but inconsistent stallion who has sired 76 stakes winners from 1,401 foals (5.4 percent). Hennessy s best son, Johannesburg, a small, typey horse, earned world champion juvenile status in 2001 through an unbeaten campaign that included Group 1 wins in England, France, and Ireland, plus a sensational victory in the Breeders Cup Juvenile. Johannesburg went on to place just once from three starts at 3, and was never very popular with breeders with his small stature and unimpressive physique, but to date he has sired 66 stakes winners from 1,604 foals in his first 10 crops for a 4 percent strike rate. Like his sire, Johannesburg was not a consistent stallion, capable of siring top-class runners, but too hit or miss to attain fashionable status. He now stands in Japan after a peripatetic stud career in which he has sired Group 1 or Grade 1 winners in the U.S., Europe, Australia, and Argentina. Johannesburg s best American son, Scat Daddy, is the physical antithesis of his sire. A big, lengthy, strikingly muscular horse, Scat Daddy won the Grade 1 Champagne at 2 and the Grade 1 Florida Derby at 3 before being injured in the Kentucky Derby and retired the next month. Scat Daddy s overall percentages are much better than his sire s and grandsire s, and he appears to have a genuine Kentucky Derby prospect this Continued on page 14 Tom Keyser El Kabeir, winner of the Gotham Stakes on March 7 at Aqueduct, is a son of prolific sire Scat Daddy, whose pedigree traces back to Storm Cat.

14 PAGE 14 Sunday, March 15, 2015 DAILY RACING FORM DRF.COM/BREEDING Continued from page 13 Scat Daddy 04 EL KABEIR Gray or Roan Colt Foaled March 18, 2012 in Florida Great Venue 08 Johannesburg 99 Love Style 99 Unbridled s Song 93 Rose Colored Lady 94 Hennessy 93 Myth 93 Mr. Prospector 70 Likeable Style 90 Unbridled 87 Trolley Song 83 Formal Dinner 88 Pink Forest 88 Storm Cat 83 Island Kitty 76 Ogygian 83 Yarn 87 Raise a Native 61 Gold Digger 62 Nijinsky II 67 Personable Lady 81 Fappiano 77 Gana Facil 81 Caro 67 Lucky Spell 71 Well Decorated 78 Fantastic Flyer 76 Green Forest 79 Chaussons Roses 82 year in El Kabeir, winner of the Grade 3 Gotham Stakes on March 7 at Aqueduct Bred in Kentucky by Axel Wend, Scat Daddy was the second foal out of Love Style, an unraced daughter of Mr. Prospector from a good family developed mostly by Millard Waldheim s Bwamazon Farm. Trainer Todd Pletcher purchased Scat Daddy for $250,000 at the 2005 Keeneland September yearling sale on behalf of James T. Scatuorchio. Scat Daddy won his first start at Belmont Park on June 3, 2006, and followed up eight weeks later with a neck victory in the Grade 2 Sanford Stakes. Beaten 4 1/4 lengths by Circular Quay in the Grade 1 Hopeful, he gained ample compensation with a three-quarterlength victory over Nobiz Like Shobiz in the Champagne. Second choice to Circular Quay for the Breeders Cup Juvenile, neither Scat Daddy nor anyone else saw which way Street Sense went in the homestretch and he finished fourth, beaten 15 lengths. Third in the Grade 3 Holy Bull in his first start at 3, Scat Daddy won the Grade 2 Fountain of Youth and the Grade 1 Florida Derby in succession but strained a tendon when running unplaced in the Derby. Coolmore partners Michael Tabor and Derrick Smith had purchased an interest in Scat Daddy, and he was retired to Coolmore for the 2008 season and began shuttling to Chile in Scat Daddy made a substantial splash with his first crop when his son Daddy Long Legs (out of Dreamy Maiden, by Meadowlake) captured the Group 2 Royal Lodge Stakes and followed up with a victory in the Group 2 UAE Derby the next spring. That crop also included multiple Grade 1 winner Lady of Shamrock (Blushing Issue, by Blushing John), Grade 2 winner Handsome Mike (Classic Strike, by Smart Strike), and Grade 3 winners Daddy Nose Best (Follow Your Bliss, by Thunder Gulch) and Finale (Twinkle, by Lively One). That was encouraging, but Scat Daddy s success on his annual trips to Chile has established him as the most dominant sire there in decades. His first Chilean crop included Chilean Horse of the Year Solaria (So Linda, by Seeker s Reward), and his second is headed by Il Campione (Global Gold, by Pleasant Tap), a winner of 8 of 10 starts who is considered the best horse bred in Chile in many years. Il Campione was recently purchased by an American partnership and will be trained by Chad Brown. Scat Daddy has been leading sire in Chile for the last two years. El Kabeir is the first foal out of Great Venue, an unraced daughter of Unbridled s Song. Bred by Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings, Great Venue was sold for $150,000 to Glen Hill Farm at the 2009 Keeneland September sale. Great Venue never made it to the races and was sold for $95,000 at the 2011 Ocala Breeders Sales Co. fall mixed sale to Rustlewood Farm, the breeder of El Kabeir. Stonestreet had purchased Great Venue s dam, Rose Colored Lady, by Formal Dinner, for $750,000 at the 2006 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky selected fall mixed sale, 10 years after she sold for only $20,000 at the 1996 OBS spring sale of 2-year-olds in training. By that time, Rose Colored Lady had provided multiple reasons for her dramatic increase in value. Winner herself of the restricted Ohio Discovery Stakes, her first foal, Barnsy, by Langfuhr, won two Ohio-bred stakes and placed in four others, and her second, Ready for Roses, by More Than Ready, won two more. Rose Colored Lady s third foal, Too Much Bling, by Rubiano, was a far classier animal. A horse with brilliant early speed, Too Much Bling captured the Grade 2 Carry Back and San Vicente, as well as the Grade 3 Bay Shore. Too Much Bling now stands in Texas and has sired 14 stakes winners. Rose Colored Lady s fourth foal, Littlebitabling, by Carson City, had also won a restricted stakes by the time Stonestreet purchased her, but Rose Colored Lady has since produced only one more foal, an unplaced filly by Hard Spun. Rose Colored Lady is a full sister to Ohio-bred stakes winner Forest Picnic and a half-sister to another in Pyrite Sprints, by Wekiva Springs. Their dam, Pink Forest, by Green Forest, is a halfsister to German stakes winner and highweight Mister Slippers, by Miswaki, and their dam, Chaussons Rose, by Lyphard, was a half-sister to French champion and classic winner Baiser Vole, by Foolish Pleasure, from an outstanding French family. Zayat Stables purchased El Kabeir for $250,000 at the 2013 OBS August yearling sale. Trained by John Terranova, El Kabeir won his maiden by 10 3/4 lengths at Saratoga and then ran fourth in the Grade 1 Champagne and second in the Grade 2 Nashua. He closed his juvenile season with a front-running victory in the Grade 2 Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes at Churchill Downs. El Kabeir has spent the winter running in Aqueduct s series of Derby preps, with wins in the Jerome and Gotham sandwiching a second to Far From Over in the Withers. El Kabeir s pedigree carries three crosses of Mr. Prospector, including two from Scat Daddy s 4x2 inbreeding to that great sire, along with sixth-generation duplications of Bold Ruler and the outstanding broodmare Grand Splendor. Since his first foals hit the track, Scat Daddy s popularity has soared, and one of his juveniles recently topped the Fasig-Tipton Florida sale of selected 2-year-olds in training at $1.4 million. His current crop of American 3-yearolds includes stakes winners Daddy D T, Conquest Boogaloo, and Spanish Pipedream. From 449 foals age 3 and up worldwide, Scat Daddy has sired 37 stakes winners. That 8 percent stakes winners to foals ratio is much higher than that of his sire or grandsire and may well indicate that Scat Daddy is likely to extend the male line of Storm Cat at least one more generation.

15 In the written words of Alan Porter, pedigree master, often the best winner by a sire is the result of what appears to be a very deliberately and cleverly constructed pedigree. In light of this, we at Dormellito Stud have bred Simmard to mares carrying NIJINSKY II / ROUND TABLE / RAHY / MEADOWLAKE / GONE WEST / HYPERION bloodlines. Heʼs able to pick up on relatives as far as the 7th generation. A record holder of the 12 furlong Louisville Handicap-Churchill Downs, Simmard breaks the mold and shows us heʼs got both the speed and staying power to be reckoned with. He has a tremendous first crop that are now yearlings His second crop looks even better! 2015 FEE: $3,500
