Thank you to all of the volunteers who work tirelessly to make this show happen, to our officials and to our exhibitors who make it the wonderful show it is. 3 Entries close August 15 th, 2017 Entries postmarked later than August 15 th may be charged a post entry fee of $25 per horse. OFFICE FEE: $20 office fee per horse ENTRY FEES: All All Stakes and Championships $50 POST ENTRIES: Post entries will be accepted up until the session before, although a class may be cancelled at the beginning of the session due to insufficient entries at that time. Cancelled classes will not be reinstated. Management reserves the right to decline any entry and to return any entry fees before or during the show without being liable for compensation. REFUNDS: All fees will be refunded upon request prior to the closing date of the entries. After the closing date, for entries there will be no refunds. PRIZE MONEY: Premium checks will be mailed within 30 days after the end of the show. Checks will be mailed to the owner(s) of record unless other arrangements are made with the Horse Show Office. Prize Money will be awarded as follows: Stakes & Championships as stated $100 -$40 $30 $20 $10 RIBBONS: Ribbons are awarded through 8 th place unless otherwise noted. USEF MEMBERSHIP STATEMENT Life, Senior Active and Junior Active members shall be eligible to participate in all classes at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at the Preliminary Level or above and Combined Driving Competitions at the Advanced Level, Dressage, Reining and Vaulting Competitions and Endurance Rides. A nonmember may participate as a handler, rider, driver, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions, Dressage Competitions, Reining Competitions and Combined Driving Competitions upon payment of a $30 Show Pass fee. Participants in the following classes are exempted from the requirements of this rule: 1) leadline; 2) exhibitions; 3) games and races; 4)classes for 4-H members; 5) walk/trot and academy classes (academy classes are classes limited to horses used regularly in a lesson program); 6) USDF Introductory level tests, pas de deux and quadrille classes; 7) NRHA Endorsed Reining Competitions; 8) Opportunity classes; 9) citizens of other nations who have proof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own National Federation; 10) USEF Beginner Novice Division; and 11) assistant handlers in Dressage Horse Breeding classes. AMATEURS: GR1307 Amateur Status 1. Only active Federation members may obtain amateur status. Every person who has reached his/her 18th birthday and competes in classes for amateurs under Federation rules must possess current amateur status issued by the Federation. (Exception: This is not required for Opportunity classes except for the Dressage Division. If Opportunity classes are offered at Dressage Competitions or Regular/Local Competitions with Open Dressage classes and are restricted to amateurs, riders are required to have amateur status with the Federation). This status must be available for inspection or the competitor must have lodged with the competition secretary, at least one hour prior to such class, an application for such status provided by the Federation. Amateur status will be issued only on receipt of the application properly signed and is revocable at any time for cause. Foreign riders requesting Federation Amateur status, must be a Junior, Senior or Life Competing Member of the Federation (Exception: Equine Canada members in possession of current EC membership may sign for USEF Amateur status on a show by show basis at no cost). Any person who has not reached his/her 18th birthday is an amateur and does not require amateur status. BOD 9/29/15 Effective 12/1/15. HEADGEAR: Riders must wear protective headgear in all classes where jumping is required and when jumping anywhere on the show grounds. It is mandatory for all riders in Hunter Seat Equitation to wear ASTM/SEI approved headgear with properly fitting harness. Protective headgear is acceptable in any division or class without penalty by the Judge, refer to USEF General Rule 801. The NYSMHS, the Show Committee and their agents and employees will not be responsible for any accident which may occur to any rider, driver, groom or attendant, spectator, animal or equipment at any NYSMHS sponsored show. Nor will the NYSMHS, the Show Committee, their agents and employees be held responsible for loss or destruction of any property or equipment or damages to or by animals on the show grounds. REGIONAL REQUIREMENTS: The NY Morgan Horse Show is the AMHA Region 2 Championship Show. All horses entered must be registered with the American Morgan Horse Association, Inc., the Canadian Morgan Horse Society, or the British Morgan Horse Society and must be entered under their full registered name and registration number. Horses under one year of age must be eligible for registration. Horses must be entered under the name(s) of the owner(s) or lessee(s) of record with the AMHA, CMHS, or BMHS. Registration number for horses must be recorded on the entry blank (exception: horses under one year of age that are not yet registered, but are eligible for registration). A copy of the registration papers showing recorded ownership or proof of lease must be submitted with the entry form at the time of making the entry. Horses must be available for inspection by

4 an official designated by the AMHA. Any person or entity with a debt outstanding for more than 90 days to AMHA, or an AMHA Regional Show or the Grand National & World Championship Morgan Horse Show is deemed "suspended" person or entity deemed "suspended" may be precluded from any further business transactions with AMHA, including with its Registry, and may be precluded from participating as an exhibitor, trainer, owner, coach or otherwise in any Regional Show or the Grand National & World Championship Morgan Horse Show. This policy does not replace or negate any suspension policy enforced by USEF, and those debts must be resolved directly with USEF. MEMBERSHIP CARDS: All participants must show proof of USEF (or pay a show pass fee of $30) and AMHA membership or pay a $45 non-member fee. Please send a copy of membership cards for all exhibitors, trainers, owners and coaches (if applicable) with your entries. HEALTH REQUIREMENTS: The following Health Requirements MUST be met by all horses. Proof of current Rabies inoculation, administered within 12 months of the current show dates must be presented for each horse. HORSES STABLED IN NEW YORK STATE: Must present a Negative Coggins test certificate dated in 2016 or Please include a legible copy with your entries. HORSES STABLED OUTSIDE NY STATE (INCLUDING CANADA): Must present a Negative Coggins test certificate dated since September 2016, and a current Health Certificate from your local veterinarian, dated within 30 days. Please include legible copies of both Coggins and Health Certificate with your entries. GR845 Equine Vaccination Rule 1. At Federation licensed competitions, horses entering the grounds must be accompanied by documentation of Equine Influenza Virus and Equine Herpes Virus (Rhinopneumonitis) vaccinations within six months prior to entering the stables. Horses not in compliance with this rule may be required to leave the competition grounds upon request by Competition Management. Documentation should consist of one of the following methods mentioned below. The frequency of vaccine administration should be per the vaccine manufacturers or veterinarian s recommendations. It is recommended that vaccines are administered by or under the direction of a veterinarian. 2. In the case of vaccines administered by a veterinarian, the exhibitor, upon request by Competition Management, must provide documentation from the veterinarian on documenting that the horse in question received the vaccinations; name of the vaccines and date of vaccine administration. 3. In the case of vaccines administered by a person other than a veterinarian, the exhibitor, upon request by Competition Management, must provide a receipt of the vaccine purchase which is signed by the owner, or agent with care, custody, and control of the horse; name, serial number and expiration date of the vaccine; and date of vaccine administration. 4. In the case of a horse that is unable to receive either of the vaccinations due to a history of adverse reactions, the exhibitor, upon request by Competition Management, must provide a letter from the veterinarian on official letterhead stating that the horse in question cannot be vaccinated due to medical concerns and a log of temperatures taken twice daily for the seven days prior to entering the competition grounds. These horses must also have their temperature taken and logged twice daily while on the competition grounds. The log of temperatures should be provided to the Competition Management, steward, or technical delegate when requested. 5. Competition Management may not amend or enhance vaccination requirements without prior approval of the Veterinary. BOD 1/17/15 Effective 12/1/15 POSITIVELY NO NUMBERS WILL BE ISSUED UNTIL APPROPRIATE HEALTH PAPERS ARE ON FILE IN THE SHOW OFFICE. ARRIVAL OF ENTRIES: The NYS Fairgrounds are not available until noon Monday September 11, 2017 and must be vacated by noon Sunday September 17, Any exhibitors requiring an exception to these times must make prior arrangements with Management. STABLING: Entries wishing to be stabled together must indicate so on each individual Stabling list and entry blank. Please identify yourself by using the farm or individual s name on the entry blank. Tack stalls may be shared, but exhibitors wishing to do so must send their entries in together. Stall reservations will only be accepted with payment. We will do our best to honor preferences, but such cannot be guaranteed. Anyone who removes stall doors will be billed for the expense of rehanging the doors. Overnight stabling in vans or trailers is prohibited. Stalls added after the stabling chart is completed will be assigned in the closest available proximity to the original group. Permanent and Temporary stalls are 10x10. A limited number of stalls will be available in the dairy barn adjacent to the coliseum on a first come, first served basis and only with receipt of payment at time of entry. NO INITIAL BEDDING PROVIDED. SHARPS: Exhibitors attention is directed to USEF Rules pertaining to Drugs and Medications. Exhibitors must dispose of sharps in containers provided throughout the stabling area. FIRE AND SAFETY REGULATIONS: NO smoking in the barns or in the Coliseum per NYS Fairgrounds rules. Fireproof material must be used for all stall decorations. The center aisle of the barns must remain clear. Tack stall decorations must not extend more than 18 into the center aisle. Drapes may not be placed across aisles. Bedding material and the like is not permitted on the floor or any aisle.

5 USEF RULES FORUM: AMHA will conduct a rules forum at a time to be announced. ARENAS AND FOOTING: Coliseum: 90 x 220, Warm Up Arena ring 85 x 190. Both rings have Travel Right footing. Country Max Dressage Arena: 110 x 280 stone dust, 4H Dressage Arena: 110 x 220 stone dust and sand mix. Exercise Arena behind main barn: 80 x 165 stone dust. Only those horses showing in the next class will be allowed in the warm up arena. FEED AND BEDDING: Feed and bedding will be available from Michael Teske. Exhibitors wishing to have bedding delivered prior to their arrival should complete the order form and mail it to Michael Teske. Contact Mike at GOLF CARTS: Golf Cart rental is available. Pre-Order form must be completed and sent to Pam Turner. Minors who do not have a valid driver s license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind, including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles, on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicle as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver s license. The parent(s), legal guardian(s), or individual who signs the entry blank as a parent or guardian of a minor operating a motorized vehicle in violation of this rule are solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses or actions resulting from that operation. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parents(s),guardian(s) and/or trainer(s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Chapter 6. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule. General Rule CAMPERS: A limited number of water and electrical hook ups are available. Camper pumping will be available twice during the week. A ticket for pumping must be purchased in the office. PARKING: Horse trailers must be parked in the lot between the race track and midway. Cars must park in designated areas. There will be no loading or unloading between the barns while the show is in session. This will be strictly enforced. BOX SEATS: Box seats consist of 6 chairs. Those needing more than 6 chairs should purchase an additional box. No bicycling or rollerblading inside any building. Management reserves the right to cancel, combine or divide any class where it is deemed advisable and reschedule any divided class(es). The Coliseum will be open for schooling on Tuesday. DIRECTIONS TO THE NYS FAIRGROUNDS New York State Fairgrounds, 581 State Fair Blvd., Syracuse, NY Gate 2 is the main entrance to the Fairgrounds. From the west: Exit 39 from Interstate 90 (the NYS Thruway). Follow Rt 690 East to the Fairgrounds. From the east: As above, or Exit 34A from Interstate 90. Follow Rt 481 South to Rt 690 West to the Fairgrounds. Exit 39 is closer to the Fairgrounds, and is recommended. From the north: Route 81 South to Rt 690 West, to the Fairgrounds. From the south: Route 81 North to Rt 690 West, to the Fairgrounds. Owners of entries in all Futurity and Futurity Alumni classes must be members of the New York Morgan Horse Society. All foals must be products of stallions and mares nominated before July 15 th of the weanling year. To be eligible, the yearling, 2 yr. old and 3 yr. old must have been nominated (not necessarily shown) in the weanling, yearling, 2 yr. old and 3 yr. old divisions respectively. All payments are to be made to the Futurity by July 15 th each year. Any payments after 7/15 up to 12/31 are considered late and will be accepted at double the normal fees. Each age group will be shown in two divisions. (A) Colts, includes stallions and geldings and (B) Fillies. Champion and Reserve will be named for each age group. Horses shall enter the ring and line up at the discretion of the judge. Entries are to be judged individually, standing, then at a walk and trot on the line and must be serviceably

6 sound. Horses must stand squarely on all four feet with front legs perpendicular to the ground. Rear legs may be placed slightly back. Judge may ask exhibitor to move hind legs under horse for inspection. Emphasis shall be on type and conformation, with consideration given to horse s ability to move correctly on the lead. Not more than two handlers, each of whom may have one whip, shall be allowed in the ring to show each horse. The point schedule will be the same as outlined in the Futurity program. FUTURITY PERFORMANCE SECTION Horses entered, shown, and judged in these classes are qualified for their respective championship classes 39 $100 NY Futurity 3 yr. old Driving (Wed) To be entered the horse must be an eligible 3-Year Old Futurity horse with all fees paid. Class specifications and judging same as appropriate to Park, Pleasure, Classic and Carriage sections. To be shown both ways of the ring at the walk or Park walk, trot, and road trot or show your horse. To be judged on manners, quality, performance with proper balance and cadence, and apparent ability to give a good pleasure drive or suitability as a stylish harness horse (60%), type and conformation (40%). 59 $100 NY Futurity Pleasure Driving 2 yr. old (Thurs) To be entered, the horse must be an eligible 2-Year Old Futurity horse with all fees paid. May be shown Park or Pleasure to an appropriate vehicle. To be shown both ways of the ring at the walk or Park walk, trot, and road trot or show your horse. To be judged on manners, quality, performance with proper balance and cadence, and apparent ability to give a good pleasure drive or suitability as a stylish harness horse 60%, type and conformation 40%. 123 $100 NY Futurity 3-Year Old Saddle (Fri) To be entered the horse must be an eligible 3-Year Old Futurity horse with all fees paid. May be shown Park, English Pleasure, Hunter, Western, or Classic Pleasure. To be shown both ways of the ring at the walk, trot or jog, and canter or lope. To be judged on manners, quality, performance with proper balance and cadence (60%), type and conformation (40%). FUTURITY ALUMNI SECTION NOTE: Horses entered, shown, and judged in these classes are qualified for their respective championship classes. Open to horses 4 yrs. old and over who have maintained their Futurity eligibility through their 3 yr. old year, owned by a current NYSMHS member. To be judged as open classes. (60%) performance, (40%) type and conformation. 26 NY Futurity Alumni Western Pleasure (Wed) Shown and judged as an open Morgan Western Pleasure class 29 NY Futurity Alumni Pleasure Driving (Wed) Open to all driving disciplines. Class specifications and judging are as appropriate for Park, Pleasure, Classic and Carriage Driving classes harness horse type (60%) and conformation (40%). 63 NY Futurity Alumni Hunter Pleasure (Thurs) Shown and judged as an open Morgan Hunter Pleasure class 81 NY Futurity Alumni English Pleasure Saddle (Thurs) Shown and judged as an open Morgan English Pleasure class 118 NY Futurity Alumni Classic Pleasure Saddle (Fri) Shown and judged as an open Morgan Classic Pleasure class NYSMHS STALLION SERVICE AUCTION SWEEPSTAKES SECTION DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 13 TH, 2017 AT 5PM ENTRY FEE: $50 per class Entry form MUST include owner s social security number. PRIZE MONEY & RIBBONS VOUCHERS FOR PRIZE MONEY WILL BE ATTACHED TO RIBBONS. VOUCHERS MUST BE COMPLETEL FILLED OUT BEFORE PRIZE CHECKS ARE RELEASED. Weanlings ALL get of stallions whose service was sold and paid for at the 2016 auction are eligible. Class 138 NYSMHS SSA Sweepstakes Weanlings (Fri) ALL get of stallions whose service was sold and paid for at the 2016 auction are eligible. Entries close at 5 PM on Wednesday, Sept 13, All entries are potentially subject to DNA testing at the conclusion of the class. An order of go will be established and posted in the office. For the class, entries may enter the ring from either gate and will proceed to the in-gate end of the ring to show before the judges according to the call judge s instructions. The entry will then leave the ring by either gate. After all entries have been individually judged, the judge s cards will be tabulated and the Top 10 will then be called back to the ring to show concurrently, according to the call judge s instructions. The class will be pinned in reverse order. Upon exiting the class the Champion, Reserve Champion and one other randomly selected top 10 entry will have hair pulled for DNA testing. 4 Year Olds Horses eligible for these classes will be any 4 year old offspring of the stallions whose services were

7 auctioned at the 2012 NYSMHS Stallion Service Auction provided the service received a qualified PAID bid. Classes will be judged as Championships. A three judge system will be used to judge each class with a call judge responsible for breaking ties. The call judge will be assigned by the NY Stallion Service Auction Committee prior to the judging of each class. Class 141 NYSMHS SSA Sweepstakes Hunter/Western Pleasure Saddle (Fri) Entries must enter by 5 pm Wednesday Sept. 13 th, Hunter and Western divisions to be shown separately on the rail. The Hunter division will show first followed by the Western division. Entries shall be shown at the walk, pleasure trot or jog, and canter or lope. Extension at any gait will be at the call judge s discretion. Rail work to be judged on performance, presence, quality and manners. Upon completion of rail work all entries shall be lined up and stripped for type and conformation inspection. Upon tabulation of the judges cards, the class shall be pinned in reverse order ending with the Champion. Class 146 NYSMHS SSA Sweepstakes Park Saddle / English Pleasure Saddle / Classic Pleasure Saddle (Fri) Entries must enter and declare Park or Pleasure or Classic by 5pm Wednesday Sept. 13 th, Declaration Forms are in the horse show office and MUST include owner s social security number. Entries to be shown at a walk, show trot, and canter appropriate to the discipline declared. Rail work to be judged on performance, presence, quality and manners. Upon completion of the rail work, all entries shall be lined up and stripped for type and conformation inspection. Upon tabulation of the judges cards, the class shall be pinned in reverse order ending with the Champion. MORGAN IN HAND SECTION Wednesday No entry fee for Championship classes Correct Morgan type and conformation is the same in each section of the Morgan horse division where type and conformation is considered. There is only one standard for type and conformation of the Morgan horse. 1 Fillies Yearling & Under 2 Fillies 2 yr. olds 3 Jr. Champion & Reserve Filly 4 Mares 3 & 4 yr. olds 5 Mares 5 yrs. & Over 6 Sr. Champion & Reserve Mare 7 Grand Champion & Reserve Mare 8 Geldings Yearling & Under 9 Geldings 2 yr. olds 10 Jr. Champion & Reserve Gelding 11 Geldings 3 & 4 yr. olds 12 Geldings 5 yrs. & Over 13 Sr. Champion & Reserve Gelding 14 Grand Champion & Reserve Gelding 15 Colts Yearlings & Under 16 Colts 2 yr. olds 17 Jr. Champion & Reserve Colt 18 Stallions 3 & 4 yr. olds 19 Stallions 5 yrs. & Over 20 Sr. Champion & Reserve Stallion 21 Grand Champion & Reserve Stallion SPECIALTY IN HAND SECTION To be shown with tack and attire tradition to the section represented. The handler should dress in proper show ring attire. Western and Hunter are traditionally shown with one handler. Classic Pleasure may have one or two amateur handlers. To be judged in accordance with AMHA Judging Standards for the Open Morgan In-Hand Section. No cross entries from Open In- Hand Section permitted. There is only one standard type and conformation of the Morgan horse. If in-hand classes are offered for horses in specific disciplines or specific classes or suitable to become classes (Classic Pleasure In-Hand, Western In-Hand, etc.), horses shall be judged against the criteria stated in MO 102 (USEF2016 Rule Book) No entry fee for Championship. 12 173 Carriage Driving Working Pleasure (Sat) A pleasure driving class in which entries are judged primarily on the suitability of the horse to provide a pleasant drive. To be judged 70% on performance, manners and way of going; 20% on the condition and fit of the harness and vehicle; 10% on neatness of attire. 174 Carriage Driving Reinsmanship (Sat) A pleasure driving class in which entries are judged primarily on the skill of the driver. To be shown at a walk, slow trot, working trot and strong trot. Drivers will be required to rein back. All drivers chosen for a workout may be worked at any gait requested by the judge and may be asked to execute a figure of eight and/or perform other appropriate tests. To be judged 75% on handling of reins and whip, control, posture, and overall appearance of the driver; 25% on the condition of the harness and vehicle and neatness of attire. 187 Carriage Driving Turnout (Sat) A pleasure driving class in which entries are judged primarily on the performance and quality of each turnout. To be shown both ways of the arena at a walk, slow trot, working trot and strong trot. To stand quietly and rein back. To be judged 70% on the condition, fit and appropriateness of harness and vehicle, neatness and appropriateness of attire and overall impression; 30% on performance, manners and way of going. HIGH POINT CARRIAGE AWARD Championship Award Will be awarded according to USEF CP When a championship for a division and/or a show is awarded on points: a. All competitors must be given an equal opportunity to accumulate points. b. All sections/divisions included in the championship must have an equal number of classes. 2. Management is strongly encouraged to post a scoreboard in a prominent place, updated throughout the competition and at least 30 minutes prior to making championship awards. 3. If a tie in championship points is to be decided, the following will be used: the best placing in the Reinsmanship class (or Working class if Reinsmanship is not offered) or a work-off is required. 4. A tie for reserve may be decided by a coin flip if all parties agree. If not, a work off will be conducted. 5. Unless otherwise published in the prize list Placings Points All placing s are final one hour after the conclusion of the show. It is recommended that championship results are posted as soon as possible after conclusion of classes. 7. If an Overall Championship is awarded, the highest point total of all entries will be the Overall Champion. For National HOTY points and awards, see GR1125. DRESSAGE AND WESTERN DRESSAGE SECTIONS ENTRY FEE: $40 per class USEF/USDF Competition Recognition Number 413 Dressage classes will be held in the 4-H Arena on Thursday September 14th and Friday September 15 th Tests are the current USDF and USEF tests. Readers will be permitted. If entries warrant, riders may be limited to two (2) tests per horse, per day. Tests will be ridden in a large arena (60 x 20 meters); the footing is sand. Each competitor in Dressage is responsible for supplying Management with correct USDF numbers for horse, owner and rider. Scores of competitors who fail to supply correct numbers may not be counted toward national awards. There is NO prohibition against entering both classes when the same test is offered each day. Five Dressage Championship Awards (Prize and Championship and Reserve Ribbons): (a) Introductory, (b) Training Level, (c) First Level, (d) Second Level, and (e) Third Level and above. The Championships for Introductory will be based on the average of any two scores from this level (please note Test C is not required). The Championship for Training, First and Second Level will be awarded based on the average of three scores at that level; one score MUST be the highest test of that level. The Third Level and above Championship will be based on the average of any two scores. The Dressage Medal Class does not count toward championship awards. The Musical Freestyle Class will count toward championship awards and will be deemed the equivalent of the highest test at applicable level. Three Western Dressage Championship Awards (Prize and Championship and Reserve Ribbons): (a) Introductory, (b) Basic, and (c) Level 1 or above. The Championships for Introductory and Basic will be awarded based on the average of any two scores at that level. The Level 1 and above Championship will be based on the average of any two scores at the same level with the following adjustments: Level 1 (no adjustment) and Level 2 (plus 2%). PLEASE NOTE that Champion and Reserve Champion awards will be available for pick up in the dressage office no later than 4:45 p.m. on Friday. For those able to attend the award ceremony, it will be held at 5:45 p.m. in the Coliseum at the beginning of the Friday evening session.
