PLEASE NOTE: At the completion of the Led Classes there will be a special class for Led Mares and Fillies: L40 Followed by: ALL Led Champions will be required for judging of the CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS at the completion of all led sections. 6 CONDITIONS OF ENTRY The use of tranquillisers, stimulants, or any drugs capable of affecting the performance of horses and ponies is forbidden. Competitors are advised that tests for forbidden substances may be carried out during the Show and that testing of all animals is at the owner s risk. Testing for forbidden substances will be carried out under the Royal Agricultural Society Forbidden Substance Judicial Committee (FSJC) procedures and rules (refer to pages 2-5 and rules FS1-8) of the RAS Equestrian Judges and Competitors Rule Book. ii) This Show supports the RAS Yellow Card system, which operates in the Equestrian Section of all RAS affiliated Shows and will be offered for any inappropriate behaviour towards Show officials, Judges, fellow competitors or any other third party connected with the Show bringing the equestrian discipline into disrepute, or cases which are of a less serious nature to the above in accordance with the Conduct of Members, Owners, Lessees, Competitors and/or Exhibitors as provide in the RAS Equestrian Competitors and Judges Rulebook and rule 13 of the RAS Constitution. Implementation of the Yellow Card will be in accordance of the RAS Rules that accompanied this Card, and full wording of the Yellow Card system is available to view on the RAS website. 1. All Horses and Ponies are eligible to compete in one nominated section i.e. Saddle Hunter or Hack or Riding Horse. The only section exempt from this rule is the Galloway section where Large Ponies and Small Park Hacks are eligible for both sections 2. Conditions of entry for Pintos & Pleasure Horse & Pony are given at the beginning of their sections. 3. Applications for refunds must be in writing and accompanied by a doctor/vet certificate and will be refunded at 50% of the total entry fee. 4. Exhibitors can compete in both Led Show Horse and Led Sport Horse classes, Attendance required not qualification as the Led Horse only count towards HOY qualification 5. Exhibits eligible for Galloway Classes may compete also in either their Large Pony or Park Hack Classes. 6. Novice Galloway Exhibits (0-5 wins) are only eligible for this section if still Novices in there other nominated section Large Show Pony or Small Park Hack. However, the win in this section will not be recorded but height certificates will be checked 7. Broodmares must be shown with foal at foot or to foal in the current 2016/2017 show season a pregnancy certificate may be requested. 6

7 8. There will be NO holding of Classes except Championships which will be at the Head Steward s discretion. 9. All stallions and colts (with the exception of foals) must be shown in a bit 10. A steward will order any stallion/colt considered out of control or to be causing undue disquiet to other horses from the ring without recourse from the stallion/colt s owner/exhibitor/competitor. 11. It is compulsory for all stallions and colts, except foals, to wear two (2) official S identification badges, one attached to each side of their bridle, at all Shows/Events at all times. The rider/handler must also wear two (2) official RAS armbands (one on each arm) when in the ring. 12. Handlers and Riders of stallions/colts must wear an approved HiViz vest at Shows/Events when outside the showing ring. 13. Stallions and colts must have an attendant at all times or be boxed. 14. The use of audio equipment of any kind or device between the side line and a competitor is strictly forbidden. 15. Current height certificates/performance cards must be carried on show day and will be checked on entry to the ring. 16. The committee will not be held responsible for any accident, loss or damage that may be caused to or suffered by any animal, person or property. 17. The committee reserves the right to make alterations to the programme, postpone or cancel the show as it sees fit. 18. Manure around floats must be picked up. 19. Safety approved helmets must be worn by all competitors 17 years and under 20. NO DOGS allowed on the grounds. 21. Any horse/pony that is considered a danger to others may be asked to leave the ring 22. Protests must be in writing and lodged within 10mins of class completion with $50 which will be refunded if the protest is upheld. 23. Back Numbers will be posted on FB or can be requested by staples@clear.net.nz. Late entries will be allocated a number on the day, please bring a number holder or similar 7

16 RING 5 GYPSY COBS 8.30 START JUDGE: Koreen Nichol SPONSORED BY NZ GYPSY COB ASSOCIATION Shows will be open to any horse registered with NZGCA, whose exhibitor is able to prove valid current registration. To enter a show the exhibitor must use the complete name and number of the animal as it is shown on the horse s registration certificate. Substitutions or changes are acceptable where the Show Management deems this appropriate. Horses may be shown if the exhibitor furnishes proof that the registration application and DNA has been received at the office of the Registrar with all requirements met prior to the show. Show Management shall accept as proof a show approval letter from the registrar. The Registrar can also give verbal verification to the Show Manager, that the horse can be shown. Where a horse is leased, notice of lease must have been received at the office of the Registrar with all requirements having been met at the time of entry to the show. The show age of all horses is determined from the 1st of August preceding its birthday. On the 1st of August following its birth the horse is deemed to be a yearling with the following exception: If the horse is less than 31 days old on August 1st AND provided that the NZGCA Registrar is satisfied that the foal was born to a mare whose first breeding date was on or after 1st September, the horse will be deemed to have been born on August 1st for registration and all other purposes and will record a birth date of 1st August. C-HANDLERS Note: The age of handlers for all purposes including stallion-handling shall be taken as at 1 August of the current show season. Handlers 8yrs and under may have an adult supervisor in the arena without penalty. The adult supervisor must have an additional (separate) lead rein attached to the halter at all times. Special Considerations for Stallions: No Youth may show at halter, ride or drive, or be left in charge of a stallion on the show grounds. NO Youth 12 years and under may show or handle on the show grounds a stallion other than a current season colt foal. NO Youth 13 years and over but less than 16 years may show a stallion other than a weanling or yearling colt. Note: All ages for youth is at the 1st August of the current show season. 16

We welcome any breed (e.g. Appaloosas, Quarter Horses, Standardbreds, Clyde X) and colour. They should be an uncomplicated and genuine pleasure to ride. Whilst they do not possess the show quality conformation of a show horse, they should in their own way be a delight to ride, with impeccable manners. A pleasure mount is NOT an inexperienced mount with show quality conformation who is destined for the open show ring. Show eligibility 1. From 1 August 2015, for a show to run Pleasure Horse/Pony classes that meet the HOY qualification requirements they must use the NZEPS rules and competitors must be members of NZEPS. 2. Rule 1 does not apply to Recreational Pleasure or otherwise named rings run in addition to the Show Pleasure rings that award Champion and Reserve Champions. Rider eligibility 30

31 3. From 1 August 2015, for a competitor to meet the HOY qualification requirements they must be members of NZEPS and in doing so comply with the NZEPS showing rules. Members wishing to qualify for HOY will need to ensure they attend shows that meet the HOY qualification requirements. 4. Rule 3 does not apply to Recreational Pleasure or otherwise named rings where the show may operate the ring under their own rules and you are not required to be a member. 5. Riders may be registered with ESNZ. 6. Riders may have competed outside the Pleasure Horse section. 7. Riders in Pony classes must be under 17yrs (proof of rider s age may be requested). Age is taken as at show date. 8. Adults may ride ponies in Horse Classes without penalty. Horse/pony eligibility 9. Horses/ponies must never have been placed first in an open show ring class at a Horse of the Year Qualifying Show where Pleasure classes are offered. An open show ring class is defined as any class (other than Pleasure Horse classes) which are not restricted to breed type (for example, Park Hack, Show Hack, Saddle Hunter, Riding Horse, Show Pony, Saddle Hunter Pony). However, riders may apply for dispensation to this rule to this society and each application will be taken on a case by case basis and decided on by the Committee. 10. Horses/ponies may be registered with ESNZ. Conduct 11. At all times competitors must behave in a proper and respectful manner to Judges, Show Officials and their fellow competitors. 12. It is to be expected that some horses can take time to settle into classes however if in the event that your horse/pony is uncontrollable or a danger to others it is advisable to retire from the ring. Failure to use this initiative, the judge may then ask you to leave the ring. Welfare of the Horse 13. Abuse of a horse/pony will not be tolerated and is in breach of International Guidelines prescribed by the FEI for the Protection of Horses and shall apply in any ruling. 14. This excerpt is taken from the RAS Competitors and Judges rule book, Rule 52 Article 143 ABUSE OF HORSES (FEI General Regulations) Abuse can be defined as intentionally acting in a way, which may cause pain or unnecessary discomfort to a horse. 32 16. Any judge suspecting that a competitor is using a bit not permitted for this section may ask to inspect the bit. 17. Double bridles are not permitted. 18. Bitless bridles are not permitted at RAS, RAS affiliated shows or the Horse of the Year show. 19. Bitless bridles may be used subject to local show rules i.e Adult Riding Club shows. 20. Dropped, Grackle (crossed) nosebands, or flash straps are not permitted. 21. Martingales, bit guards, training aids e.g. bearing, side, running or balancing reins, boots, bandages, any form of blinkers, ear plugs, hoods and shadow blinds are not permitted. 22. Hoof boots and breastplates are permitted. Whips 23. Whips may be carried but must not exceed 76cms in length. 24. Dressage whips are not allowed. Dress 25. All riders must wear a 3 point harness helmet conforming to the current NZ Safety Standard or an equivalent standard. 26. Spurs are not to be used. Height Certificates / Performance Cards 27. It is recommended that Pleasure Horses/ponies have height certificates/performance cards. This is not a society rule for the 2014/15 season however individual shows may require them. 28. Performance cards are currently required at HOY to confirm the horse/pony does not have any open wins on its card. 29. The society is proposing to develop our own Pleasure Passport for registered horses, which will record pleasure wins/champions /reserves for use from the 2015/16 season.
