Competition is governed by Rules, Formats & Standards consistent with the Royal Easter Show Rules and Regulations and the rules and guidelines of the Royal Agricultural Society of N.Z (Inc) and it shall be deemed as if they have been printed in this schedule. Entry in competition at the Show is deemed to be acceptance of the Rules. Privacy Act The Association holds records, names and addresses of all members and exhibitors and will publish these as necessary unless advised otherwise. HORSE OF THE YEAR This is a qualifying show for Horse of the Year As you now require a certificate of Qualification to enter, it is the responsibility of the competitor to have the forms completed. For cheque payment please make payable to ASB Showgrounds and post direct to Auckland Agricultural Pastoral & Industrial Shows Board, PO Box 26014, Epsom, Auckland 1344 (Please state your full name and Equestrian on the reverse). Membership Subscriptions 2017/2018 Annual Individual Membership of the Auckland A&P Association is $30 with your competition entry for the 2018 Royal Easter Show. The membership year runs from 1 st April st March See application form in the back of this Schedule. PAYMENT FOR MEMBERSHIP MUST BE MADE SEPARATELY, SEE MEMBERSHIP FORM. There will be no refunds for memberships. Timetable Exhibitors must know their class numbers and times by checking the Entry fees included in the Catalogue in case of class time changes. They must be ready to enter the ring before their start time. A timetable will also be displayed at the Equestrian office. Classes missed are the exhibitor s responsibility. Late exhibitors will be excluded from the class. If the exhibitor is entered in multiple sections, the exhibitor must decide which class/section to compete in. No class or championship judging will be held up for delayed Exhibitors.

4 Forbidden Substances a). The use of tranquillisers, stimulants, or any substance which affects the performance of horses or ponies is forbidden. b). Exhibitors are advised that tests for forbidden substances may be carried out during the Show. Testing of all animals will be at the owner s risk and will be carried out under FSJC procedures (RAS By Laws and Regulations Section Rule 89). c). Your signature on the entry form, and/or participation in competition, denotes acceptance of these conditions. Height Certificates All horses and ponies competing must have a copy of a current annual RAS height certificate or a life RAS height certificate and a copy of the performance card forwarded with their entry. These must be carried on the day of competition and produced on request. The exception applies to Side Saddle, Donkeys, Welsh, Sporthorse, Arabs, Golden Horse, Kaimanawa, Standardbred, Gypsy Cobs, providing those horses are not entered in any height classes/section. All prize winners will forfeit prize money if performance cards are not produced at the request of the stewards. Protective Headgear Helmets ALL helmets must be tagged to show they meet current Helmet Safety standards. All riders must wear protective headgear, which includes a retaining harness secured to the shell at more than two points. Refer rule 51 RAS Rulebook. Yellow Card System This Show supports the RAS Yellow Card system, which will operate in the Equestrian Section of all RAS affiliated Shows and will be offered for any inappropriate behavior towards Show officials, Judges, fellow competitors or any other third party connected with the Show bringing the equestrian discipline into disrepute, or cases which are of a less serious nature to the above in accordance with the Conduct of Members, Owners, Lessees, Competitors and/or Exhibitors as provided in the RAS Equestrian Competitors and Judges Rulebook and rule 13 of the RAS Constitution. Implementation of the Yellow Card will be in accordance of the RAS Rules that accompanied this Card, and full wording of the Yellow Card system is available to view on the RAS website. No competitor, exhibitor or member of their family shall approach a judge with regard to a decision unless they first obtain the permission of the Show Convenor/Manager/Ring Master of Ring Steward, the most senior of whom shall carry the decision on the day. Confirmation of Entries E1 Confirmation of Entries - A receipt showing all details of your entries, subscription etc will be returned to you following data processing. Your entry form will NOT be returned to you. Responsibility - It will be your responsibility, the Exhibitor, to check the details on the confirmation of entries carefully and ensure that all details are correct. Any alterations to Classes must be made to the Secretary by 9 March 2018 in writing (by post, fax or ). NO EXCEPTIONS - except Novice upgrading changes - see E8.Competitor to supply number and holder. Entry Fees includes all RAS levies & GST. Member means financial member of Auckland Agricultural & Pastoral Association. E2 Age of Horses and Ponies Age is determined from 1 August. Yearling born since 31 July year old born since 31 July year old born since 31 July 2014 E3 The Committee reserves the right to alter conditions, or the order of events, or cancel events, entirely at its own discretion. If too many entries are received in any Class the Committee may ballot or otherwise reduce the number. And likewise if there are insufficient entries in classes, they may be combined. E4 Late entries received after the closing date of 9 March 2018 will incur a 25% penalty. Late entries may be accepted up to 23 March for inclusion in the catalogue at the discretion of The Royal Easter Show Office.

5 Refunds of Entry Fees E5 The Council of the Auckland A&P Association reserves the right to recognize the refund of entry fees at a rate of 75% upon submission of the refund/scratching form with a) a veterinary or doctors certificate, or b) a written explanation as to the reason for the request WITHIN FIVE DAYS following the completion of the competition (no refunds will be considered after this period). The Association s decision shall be final. A refund/scratching form is included in this schedule. No refunds will be available for Yarding, Stables, Admin Fee, Catalogues or membership to the Auckland A&P Association. All requests for scratching must be in written form i.e. , or postal post. No verbal scratching requests will be accepted. Newcomer, was Novice as at 1 August 2017 All wins in Novice Section within each division count and must be recorded. Should a Novice horse win an open conformation class including Ladies and Gents Classes, these wins must also be recorded. Once a horse has achieved 6 wins in either the conformation Classes or paced and mannered Classes, this horse is not eligible to return to Novice status should it change Sections. A Novice is a Horse or Pony which has not won 6 first in conformation Classes at any A&P Show, at the time of the Show. (Ladies and Gentlemen s Hack class wins count as an Open Conformation Class). A Novice in Paced and Mannered Classes is a Horse or Pony which has not won 6 firsts in Paced and/or Mannered Classes at an A&P Show at the time of the Show. Novice Champions are not eligible for Open Championships unless they have won their Open Class, nor are they eligible for Supreme Award. Championship award does not count as a win. Novices may enter Open Classes. Novice ponies may be ridden by riders of any age in Novice Classes only. In Open Section the stated age applies. Substitutions E6 Substitutions must be advised in writing by 12 noon 23 March A substitution form is included in this schedule. The substitution must be owned by the exhibitor. Electronic Devices E7 It is an offence for any electronic or audio equipment deemed possible to provide external assistance to an exhibitor to be carried on an exhibitor in the show ring. Penalties may include forfeiting all prize money, awards and qualification and elimination from any further Classes at that Show. Judging & Presentation of Exhibits E8 Exhibitors must have their entries ready for judging at the times stated, or they will be liable for disqualification. E9 No distinguishing mark of ownership or stud name, with the exception of registered brands, may be attached to the animal exhibited or the handler. In Hand Horses & Ponies E10 In Led Classes breeding must be shown on the entry form. E11 Horse must be presented for judging in the required manner. E12 For In Hand Classes all stock to be led clockwise with the attendant on the near side. Attendants are requested to be suitably attired when parading horses in the ring. No-one under 14 can lead Youngstock. Stallions E13 All Stallions and colts (with the exception of Miniature/Shetland and foals) must be shown in a bit. All stallions competing at this show must be exhibited with two official S badges (stallion identification badge) attached to either side of their bridle. The rider and or handler must wear two armbands, one on each arm when in the ring. Handlers and riders of stallions/colts must wear RAS approved Hi Viz vests at shows/events when outside the ring. These badges must also be displayed when the horse is being prepared or moving amongst other horses. Approved S badges, armbands and vests can be purchased from RAS Head Office. Mares E14 Mares shown in Broodmare Classes must have a foal at foot or present a veterinary certificate of pregnancy that includes a projected foaling date. Dry Mare is a mare not to foal during current Show season (1 August to 31 July). Broodmares with foal at foot are ineligible for ridden and harness classes. Saddle Horses & Ponies E15 No horse or pony under 3 years of age is permitted to be shown under saddle. E16 In no case may horses or ponies be ridden outside the designated area. E17 No change of rider will be allowed in any horse or pony Classes after once entering the ring for that class, except in exceptional cases when consent of the judge or Chief Horse Steward must be obtained. E18 A horse or pony being eligible for a Championship must be ridden by the same rider as in the Class or Classes in which it qualified unless the permission of the Chief Horse Steward has been obtained. In the case of a rider qualifying more than one pony, a second rider may be found. E19 The age of the rider is taken as at 1 August Riders on open ponies are to be under 17 years of age. E20 Judges are directed to award prizes only to Horses which they consider free from hereditary unsoundness. In all Classes LATECOMERS will not be accepted into the Ring for judging.

6 Measuring E21There will be no measuring during the Show. All stock to be measured must be measured prior to the event and class changes notified immediately. The onus is on the exhibitor to enter the correct class. E22 Youngstock Measures issued after 1 August are valid until 31 January of the following year. Measured issued after 1 January are valid till 31 July of the same year. Stabling E23 Parking is available on a daily basis for local exhibitors trucks and cars with floats, with horses able to be tied to floats in the designated area. Note: stabling is available. E24 Applications must be made at time of entry using stabling form in Schedule. E25 Application must be restricted to a stable for each horse exhibited. Stables are not to be used for storing gear, feed etc. If a horse/pony is scratched, the exhibitor must notify the stabling supervisor for the stable to be reallocated. E26 Preference for boxes is given to Stallions, Colts, Brood Mares with Foals, Young stock, and exhibitors from a Distance. Stallion boxes must have sign denoting STALLION on outside of box. E27 The Association does not guarantee to provide horse accommodation as the number of stables is limited on the grounds, however, there will additional stabling if needed close by. E28 All yards and stables must be mucked out and left clean upon vacating show. It is the Exhibitor s responsibility to keep the stable/yard and the area outside clean and tidy. Exhibitors are asked to notify the Secretary at the Equestrian Show Office if stable is not clean. Drainage grates must not be removed. Stabling allocations will be posted at the stables. There will be NO SMOKING. Unloading of Horses & Vehicle Parking E29 Horse floats are to park in designated parking areas. Toilets will be available in Stabling Complex. Award of Championships E30 Champion and Reserve Champion will be selected as follows: First Prize winners in all eligible Classes to be paraded before the Judge. Once the Champion has been selected, the animal with second prize from the same class as the Champion shall parade with the others for Reserve Champion. The Royal Easter Show, Supreme Champion Sashes Champion and Reserve Champion sashes will be awarded. Prize Money & Sponsorships All Class and Award Sponsorships are subject to confirmation. Prize Money as stated will be paid in full but is not payable in addition to sponsorship. All prize money will be paid by direct credit unless otherwise requested otherwise. Payments will be made within 28 working days of the end of the Show.. Any prize money cheques not presented by the end of September 2018 will be forfeited. Except where otherwise stated, where there are fewer than 6 entries, 1 st & 2 nd only will be paid. Fewer than 3 entries, 1 st only, ribbons for other placings. All prize money is GST inclusive. Insurance The Royal Easter Show will not held liable for any loss or damage to exhibitors/competitors or their property whilst on the grounds. The Royal Easter Show will not be responsible for any claim. The Royal Easter Show will note be held responsible for any accident that may occur in competition or that may occur from machinery or other exhibits or plant belonging to exhibitors, competitors or the Royal Easter Show and it is a condition of entry that such exhibitor, competitor or visitor shall hold the Royal Easter Show blameless and indemnify it against any legal proceedings from any accidents caused. Event Cancellation If the show is abandoned or postponed due to any reason beyond the control of the Show Organisers, the Show Organisers are under no obligation to refund in whole or part, any payments made by the exhibitors. Any refunds will be made at the discretion of the Show Organisers, Royal Easter Show. There is no refund of administration fees or membership fees to the A&P. The Royal Easter Show is a qualifier Show for Horse of the Year IMPORTANT PLEASE READ Please ensure that a copy of your height certificate and performance cards accompanies your entry form. Height Certificates and Performance Cards must be carried in the ring at all times and produced upon request. All horses and ponies competing must have a copy of a current annual RAS height certificate or a life RAS height certificate and a copy of the performance card forwarded with their entry. Height Certificates are valid from 1 August to 31 July each year. RAS state that you cannot compete at an A&P Show without a Height Certificate and that the original height certificate MUST be carried on you at all times. Classes that are exempt from having height certificates are some breed classes eg Sporthorse, Shetland, Standardbred, Welsh, Side Saddle. Pinto classes will require height certificates if there are Pony & Hack classes, this also applies to Golden Horse Classes. The RAS website has a list of all measuring stands under the equestrian option.

Proof of Registration (a photocopy of the registration certificate must accompany the entry form) and must be produced on show day if requested by the Steward. All Championships are judged from the winner in each section. The second placed horse to the Champion must parade for the judging of Reserve Champion. Conditions & Regulations for the Donkey Section DM1 To enter, the exhibitor must use the complete name of the donkey or mule as it is shown on the registration certificate. DM2 A miniature donkey must be 36 inches or under at maturity (9.hh or under). DM3 The use of stimulants or depressants or any performance enhancing drug is strictly forbidden. DM4 An unruly donkey may be excused from the ring by the Judge or Steward for reasons of safety. DM5 Jacks two years and over must be shown in a bit. Mini Jacks can be shown in stallion chain. DM6 Jack Handlers must be 14 years of age and over. DM7 When jacks are shown in harness, an adult must drive the turnout and there must be another adult on hand capable of giving assistance if required. DM8 The minimum age of donkeys in driving Classes is three years. Best Presented Classes Handlers should strive to present themselves and their animals in a neat and tidy manner and in appropriate attire. All tack should be clean, tidy and in good repair. The class is to be judged on overall appearance, cleanliness, appropriateness of attire, condition and presentation of donkey and handler. Donkeys should be lined up in order for the Judge to inspect each animal and handler. Championship Awards Championship Classes will include the winners of the appropriate breed Classes. Once the Champion has been selected the donkey that was the second place getter to the Champion in its breed Class will be brought in to the ring and then be entitled to parade with the other first place winners in consideration for Reserve Champion. Geldings are eligible for Championship Awards in Breed Classes and are to be judged on an equal basis with jacks and jennies. Performance Champion when there is a tie for points This does not include ridden mule where the championship is not decided on points. The other performance sections for donkeys and mules In Hand Performance and Harness are decided on points. (6 points for 1 st : 4 points for 2 nd : 2 points for 3 rd : 1 point for 4 th ). The procedure is if the final points are equal, the championship is awarded to the donkey or mule with the highest points who has also won the most first places. If the points are still equal then the donkey or mule that also has the highest number of second places will be awarded champion and the other animal the reserve champion.
