You are also indemnifying the Manawatu & West Coast A&P Association against damage(s) or injury occurring while you are on the showgrounds or its environs to participate in the Show. You are required to comply with all Health & Safety Rules and requirements of Manfeild Park Trust and the Manawatu & West Coast A&P Association, and to keep your exhibits under control at all times. Entry Fees include the RAS levy of $1.15 per entry, and are GST inclusive. Scratchings: A 75% refund of entry fees will be given if scratching is made in writing at least 2 days before the beginning of the Show with a Vet Certificate or Medical Certificate. NO REFUNDS WILL BE PAID AT THE SHOW (Please do not ask). 2

Please advise at time of entry & booking a stable/yard if a stallion or colt needs stabling. Horse Accommodation Charges Loose Boxes and covered yards Uncovered Yards $15.00 per night $10.00 per night Accommodation fees must be paid at the time of entry. (Maximum to pay is for 2 nights 3 rd night free). Horse accommodation must be booked at the time of entering, and paid with entry fees. Please note other applicable charges Ground Levy of $10 per horse/pony First Aid Levy of $5 per rider MUST accompany all entry fees. Catalogues will not be printed, as all class lists accessible on line (Vet on call and Medics in attendance) Refunds of accommodation paid will not be made unless withdrawals are notified in writing up to 48 hours prior to the commencement of the Show.. Exhibitors must not occupy accommodation unless the allocation of same has been confirmed by the Horse Accommodation Steward or the Secretary. 3

4 General Rules & Conditions 1. The Rules and Regulations as issued by the Royal Agricultural Society of New Zealand (Inc) for the governance and conduct of A & P Shows have been adopted by the Manawatu & West Coast A&P Association. It is the responsibility of exhibitors to be conversant with these rules. Copies of the Rules and Regulations are available on request. The RAS Equestrian Competitors and Judges Rule Book (2018) is available for purchase from the RAS Head Office, or on the RAS website. 2. Entries are accepted on the clear understanding that the Rules will be adhered to. (Please note Rules CDE 1. Re RAS Certificates & classification, GR4. re Hard Hats and Safety Helmets, GR5.f) re Electronic and Audio equipment, and GR 6 re Abuse of Exhibits. 3. HATS AND SAFETY HELMETS All riders, including harness drivers/with the exclusion of heavy horse (Clydesdale) working classes, competing at RAS affiliated A&P Shows/Events must wear protective headgear, which includes a retaining harness secured to the shell at more than two points. Such headgear must be worn with the chinstrap properly adjusted and fastened when in the arena or ring, the practice area, collecting rings or anywhere else within a Showgrounds or the grounds of an affiliated Event. Hats/helmets must conform with one of the current approved safety standards. These standards may be subject to change but the latest list can be found at equestrian. RAS will advise any changes via their website and Facebook. All hats/helmets that conform as per c) must be identified by the current tag system implemented by NZPCA, ESNZ and RAS. Hat checking and tagging is available between 7.00 and 8.00am each day of the show at the showing caravan. ALL HATS MUST BE RED TAGGED - NO RED TAG, NO START. 4. Arrears & Entries The Committee reserves the right to limit or refuse any entries. If any entry is refused, entry fees will be refunded in full. A person who is in arrears to this or any other affiliated show with regard to entry fees, subscriptions, or other fees, is ineligible to enter and compete at this or any other affiliated show. Proof of payment is required before any restriction is lifted. Entry Refunds: Requests must be in writing, with Dr s or Vet s certificate, and will be less 25% Entries must be on the official entry form and signed, or electronic (online) 4

5 5 Clean Sport Testing (Drugs) The RAS Clean Sport rules apply. Competitors are advised that tests for forbidden substances may be carried out during the Show and that testing of all animals is at the risk of the person responsible. A Forbidden Substance is any substance capable of affecting the speed, stamina or courage or conduct of a horse, pony, donkey or mule by its action upon the central or peripheral nervous system of the cardiovascular, respiratory, alimentary, digestive, musculoskeletal or urogenital systems. 6. The Age of all horses and Riders shall be computed as at August 1 st All horses or ponies competing must be entered in the name of the bona fide owner, and all exhibits must be named at time of entry, which must be the same as the name on the RAS Certificate. 8. Stallions & Colts are eligible for all classes, but (with the exception of Miniature horses and foals) must be shown in a bit, and must be clearly identified with S identification badges, one on each side of their bridle at all times. The rider and handler must wear two RAS official armbands (one on each arm) at all times on the show grounds when leading or mounted, and must wear an approved Hi Viz vest during the show when outside of the showing ring. ( S badges, arm bands and vests can be purchased from RAS Head Office. Open Pony Stallions must be ridden by a rider fourteen (14) or fifteen (15) or sixteen (16) years of age, led handlers must be fourteen (14) years and over. Stallions over 148cm must be led or ridden by a rider/handler 17 years of age or older. 9. All leased horses or ponies competing at this Show must be registered with the Royal Agricultural Society. Such lease must be for a term of not less than 6 months starting from receipt of confirmation of the Lease from the RAS, and must be registered before entries are made. 10. Where classes are defined by height, the person responsible must carry a current RAS Height/Performance Certificate or Life Certificate for their exhibit, and must produce it upon the request of a show official. Any competitor unable to produce a RAS Certificate is ineligible to compete and will forfeit any awards. The certificate must be completely and correctly filled in by the Measuring Official. 11. Depending on entries at closing date, classes may be cancelled, split, or combined if appropriate. 12. Brood Mares: Mare to have foal at foot or present veterinary certificate of pregnancy that includes a projected foaling date. 5

6 13. Before any prizes are awarded in Entire Classes, horses may be liable to examination by the Veterinary Surgeon appointed by the Association. The decision of the Veterinary Surgeon shall be final and binding on all parties, and shall not be questioned by any Court. The entry of any exhibit in any of the classes affected will be deemed as acceptance of this clause. 14. Although it is provided that horses may compete in more than one class, any or all such classes may be judged simultaneously at the convenience of the Judges or Stewards. In all such cases exhibitors having an exhibit entered in more than one class MUST ELECT IN WHICH CLASS THEY COMPETE. 15 A horse or pony being eligible for a Championship must be ridden by the same rider as in the class or classes in which it qualified unless the permission of the Chief Steward has been obtained; but when an owner has more than one pony/horse qualified for the same championship judging, a rider must be provided for each qualifier, and the Chief Steward advised. (Local Rule) 16. A Novice is a Pony/Horse or Rider that has had up to five wins at any A & P Show, in any division at the day of the Show (Rule CDE 6). After the sixth win, the pony/horse/rider is not eligible for Novice Classes. Novice ponies may be ridden by a rider of any age in Novice classes; and may also enter open classes, ridden by a rider under 17 years of age. A novice champion may not compete in an Open Championship unless it has qualified through the open classes. The Height/Performance RAS Certificate must be presented on request in the ring, to be filled out and signed for each win. Winners failing to produce their card when requested will forfeit their awards on the day (Rule CDE 6.e). 17 The Manawatu A&P Association is required to conform to the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015; therefore you are required to carry out your work or undertaking on the Manfeild premises to comply with this Act. As a show exhibitor at this venue you are obligated to accept responsibility for ensuring a safe showing venue within the focus of the Act. As a user of these facilities, you are required to manage and supervise all your activities and live animal exhibits to ensure the good Health and Safety of all people involved in the show, at all times. Health & Safety Specific Requirements: All vehicles, caravans and floats requiring power must have a Warrant of Electrical Fitness that meets legislation standard AS/NZS

7 Any and all electrical equipment, including extension power leads, must be tested and tagged with a current tag.(standard AS/NZS3760) Vehicles and leads may be checked during the show, on a strictly user pays basis. Anyone bringing in or in charge of the use of any motorized bike, two, three or four wheeled, must be trained in its use and must wear a safety helmet at ALL times when using it. As Manfeild Park is a public place, bike riders must have a current Drivers Licence. Quad bikes must not carry passengers, and no-one under the age of 16 is permitted to operate a quad bike. Motor bike riders must observe a speed limit of 15 k/p/hour at all times, anywhere on the showgrounds. 18. The RAS Yellow Card This Show supports the RAS Yellow Card system. A yellow card will be issued in cases of offences in respect of abuse of animals or inappropriate behaviour towards show officials, judges, fellow competitors or other third party, as per the RAS Constitution and the RAS Rules & Regulations/Bylaws including the Equestrian Rule Book, the RAS affiliated Show Measuring Stand and grounds. A duly appointed delegate of the show may deliver to the Person Responsible a Yellow Warning Card (either immediately or within 10 days of the show). Full wording of the Yellow Card System is available to view on the RAS website The RAS Resolution Process can be found on the RAS website, as above. The principle behind the process is to deal with the matter as it comes to hand and in most cases it should be dealt with directly by the show. If the matter is in regards to a RAS official, the show may request the assistance of RAS Head Office as to how to deal with this in an appropriate manner. 20. TEMPORARY PENS Temporary pen systems that meet an agreed safety requirement endorsed by the RAS are permitted, as per the RAS website. Any other temporary pen including (but not restricted to) tape, strings, ropes or chains, are banned. Stallions or colts can only be tied to a truck or float if they are under constant supervision, or are tied within an RAS approved solid framed portable yard that is attached to the outside of the truck or float. Otherwise, they must be confined in stables, suitable yards, or within the float or truck. 7

All Trophies are available for photographs on the day, but must then be returned to the stewards. Food There will be food and drinks available on the grounds throughout the show. Please read the Rules and Conditions of the Show PARKING: Competitors trucks or vehicles may only be parked in the designated parking areas or adjacent to the Ring Road, NOT on the grassed competition surfaces. Please help us to preserve our competition surfaces. (See Map prior to the Show for Parking and Gate access.) 8

9 Please pick up dung and rubbish, and place in bins provided, or take it home Please leave all yards, parking and camping areas clean and tidy Yellow bins are for animal waste only PRIZES SHOWING CLASSES ribbons to all places. Prize money will be paid out as per number of entries as of 29 October as follows: 1 entry: 1 st prize $ entries: 1 st prize $ entries: 1 st & 2 nd prizes 5 & over entries: 1 st, 2 nd 3 rd prizes Prize Money will be paid on the day. Vouchers will be issued at the ring for redemption by 4.00pm at the showing horse caravan during the days of competition. Prize money may be claimed from the office after the show, but if not claimed within one month will be deemed invalid. SHOW JUMPING & SHOW HUNTER ribbons to all places; Prize Money will be paid out in a ratio of 1:7, except in the series classes where it will be paid in full. 9

10 Other Arrangements BREAST PLATE NUMBER HOLDERS: Are compulsory for all showing classes except Working Hunters, Pleasure Horse/Pony classes, Donkeys and Mules Competitors are responsible for providing their own number(s) black numbers on a white background, or white on a black background only please. Working Hunter Riders will be required to wear arm numbers on the left arm, which can be picked up from the horse caravan. ARM NUMBERS: Any arm number issued will require a deposit of $5.00, to be refunded on return. Exhibitors must be neatly attired when entering judging rings with their exhibit. INFORMAL TURNOUT in all Unity Classes. UNITY CLASSES: Competitors will be judged together as a class with the following maximum points available. Conformation & Soundness 25 Turnout of Horse, saddlery & costume 25 Paces & Manners 25 Unity & Riding RAS CERTIFICATES (HEIGHT/PERFORMANCE CARDS) must be available in the ring at the request of a steward. Failure to produce them will result in forfeiture of all awards and disqualification on the day. HORSE of the YEAR SHOW QUALIFICATION CERTIFICATES: Available from RAS Website ras.org.nz For all horse enquiries during the Show please go to the Horse caravan (not the show office.) A Vet and Farrier will be On-Call. Contact details will be advised. Stallion Badges. Arm Bands and vests are available for purchase from the RAS Head Office. Young Stock Re-measure - $11 Life Certificate - $76 Separate Rider Performance cards are available at the measuring stand. Please ask John for these. Breeds Performance Cards are currently the responsibility of the Breed Societies. All replacement certificates (for lost certificates, change of horse/pony name etc), must be issued from the Royal Agricultural Society Head Office - by application, and will cost $ Entry to the park is via Gate 5 off Kawa Kawa Road. 17 WORKING HUNTERS (HOY Qualifier) Horse Ring 1 Saturday 3rd November pm Judge: Joan Mitchell, Waipukurau Working hunters are required to demonstrate jumping ability and be of good strong conformation with good manners, sound paces and be a comfortable ride over long distances. They will be required to jump a minimum of three hunter type fences. Jumping style and ability 40%, conformation 30%, paces and manners 30%. They will also be required to gallop. No boots or bandages permitted. Working Hunters are required to have arm numbers. Please collect these from the Horse Secretary situated by the ring with a deposit of $5.00, to be refunded on it being returned.
