INFORMATION & RULES The Show will be run under the rules and regulations of the Royal Agricultural Society, Waikato A&P Association and the RAS Equestrian rulebook. It shall be deemed acceptable as if they had been reprinted in full in this schedule. A copy of these rules is available for perusal at the Secretary's office. COMPLULSORY HELMET REQUIREMENT: Please go to the RAS website for details. 3

5 ENTRIES CLOSE: MONDAY 1 st OCTOBER All entry fees to be paid preferably by direct bank payment (cheques accepted.) Waikato A&P Assn bank account No: BNZ REF = Entrant's Name to match Entry Form. LATE ENTRIES will be accepted only up to the 9th October with payment of a 50% penalty. NO OTHER ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED ON THE DAY OF THE SHOWING Please ensure you add up all your fees correctly and send the entry form and payment (if not direct credited) to the Show office. Full entry fee must be received before 9th October or entry will not be considered valid and the competitor may not be able to participate. CONFIRMATION OF ENTRIES: Confirmation of entries will be sent to each exhibitor once their entry has been received by the Secretary. If you have not received your confirmation within 10 working days after posting it please contact the office immediately. CATALOGUES: These are no longer compulsory. If you have chosen to purchase one of these, they are available from the Equestrian Secretary s office (on the Oval) on the day of showing. GROUND FEES & LEVIES: o o RAS Equestrian levy of $1.15 per class Ground Fees of $5.00 per exhibit must be paid with entries. TICKETS: These will be posted to you with the Exhibitors letter. 4

6 STABLE AND DAY PEN REQUIREMENTS: Stable and Day Pen requirements must be stated on your entry form. The fees for Stables are $50.00 each including 1 bale of straw for the duration of the Show (extra straw $15.00 per bale). Day Pens - $15 per day. (Only for Stallions or Mares with Foals.) CAMPING: On the grounds must be booked with $15 per night. Portable pens are not permitted on the grounds. STRAW: Straw will be provided in each box for the initial supply, any further straw required can be purchased from the Stabling $15 per bale. HEIGHT CERTIFICATES: A current RAS height/performance certificate must accompany the rider in all classes where height is a requirement of eligibility. YOU MUST TAKE CERTIFICATES WITH YOU OR YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED IN THE RING. EXHIBIT NUMBER: It is compulsory to display your Exhibit number (Exhibitor to provide) while in the Judging ring. PUBLICATION OF EXHIBITOR'S NAME: Entry in the Show entitles the Association to publish an Exhibitors name in result reports and distribute with Exhibitor lists. BBQ: There will be an organized barbecue on Saturday evening available for all exhibitors. The cost will be $5 (persons 18yrs & over) & $2 (persons under 18) which includes 2 complimentary drinks. Please indicate on entry form and include payment with entries. 5

7 PRIZE MONEY: FOR ALL CLASSES IN THE HORSE SECTION. The Waikato A& P Association reserve the right to replace prize money with product or vouchers. The Committee reserve the right to combine classes should there be insufficient entries in any class. Prize money and any entry credits will be paid directly into your bank account number given on the Entry form. If you have not received your payment before 20/11/2018 please notify the office immediately. Notification must be made no later than the 14/12/2018. Notification after this date will not be considered. If promised sponsorship is not forthcoming, the Association cannot be held liable. All entry fees and prize money are GST inclusive. ANY EXHIBITOR WHO FAILS TO COMPLY WITH THE RULES MAY FORFEIT THEIR PRIZEMONEY. REFUNDING ENTRY FEES: 75% will be made on the presentation of a Doctor's or Veterinarian's Certificate at time of or within one week of the show and paid out after approval by the Council. PROTEST: Any protest must be made in writing within 1 hour of the competition of the class, signed by the person making the complaint and delivered to the Secretary accompanied by $200 cash (CHEQUES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED) which will be refunded should the protest be upheld. 6

8 ROYAL AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY RULES & RECOMMENDATIONS: o o o Ridden ponies must be 3 years of age or more. Two year old ponies may not be ridden in any classes at an A&P Show. The age limit of riders in pony classes is under 17 years with the exception of Novice Ponies. NOTE: Open Ponies 148cm and under cannot compete in the Hack ring. o Exhibitors in Flat rider classes must compete in the section they are eligible for. SADDLERY & ACCESSORIES: Any equipment that could force or tie a horse or pony into a frame, and thereby be deemed cruel or come under the mistreatment rule is not allowed on the grounds at affiliated shows / events. (See RAS Rule GR5) 7

9 STALLIONS: o All stallions and colts must be shown in a bit with the exception of foals and Miniature Horses and Shetland Pony Yearlings. In the case of Miniature Donkey Jacks 86cm and under, they must either be shown in a bit or a halter with a stallion chain. If utilizing the option of a halter and a stallion chain, then the donkey s original RAS height certificate must be carried at the time of showing, to show proof of height. A Steward will order any stallion/colt considered out of control or to be causing undue disquiet to other horses from the ring without recourse from the stallion / colt s owner / exhibitor/ competitor. o A Steward will order any stallion/colt considered out of control or to be causing undue disquiet to other horses from the ring without recourse from the stallion /colt's owner / exhibitor / competitor. o It is compulsory for all stallions and colts, except foals, to wear two (2) official 'S" identification badges, one attached to each side of their bridle, at all Shows/Events at all times. The rider/handler must also wear two (2) RAS official armbands (one on each arm) when in the ring. 'S' badges to be purchased from RAS Head Office or ESNZ; armbands from RAS Head Office. o Handlers and Riders of stallions /colts must wear an approved Hi VizVest at Shows/Events when outside the showing ring. Vests can be purchased from RAS Head Office. 8

10 YELLOW CARD: This Show supports the RAS 'Yellow Card' system. A Yellow Card will be issued, In cases of offences in respect of abuse of animals or inappropriate behavior as per the RAS Constitution and the RAS Rules &Regulations/Bylaws including the Equestrian Rulebook, the RAS affiliated Show / registered Measuring Stand and their grounds and their duly appointed delegates may deliver to the Person Responsible a Yellow Warning Card (either immediately or within 10 days of the show) which suspends any penalty until possible new offences. Full wording of the 'Yellow Card' system is available to view on the RAS website CLEAN SPORT: The Rules of the Royal A&P Society New Zealand in regard to Clean Sport apply. Competitors are advised that tests for forbidden substances may be carried out during the Show/Event and that testing of all animals is at risk of the person responsible. FORBIDDEN SUBSTANCE: Any substance capable of affecting the speed, stamina, courage or conduct of a horse, pony, donkey or mule by its action upon the central or peripheral nervous system or the cardio-vascular, respiratory, alimentary, digestive, muscoskeletal or urogenital systems. ARREARS: No person who is in arrears with regard to entry fees, subscriptions, or any other show/event charge is eligible to compete at any affiliated show/event. Proof of payment will be required before any restriction is lifted. SUMMARY OF RAS RESOLUTION PROCESS: The full process can be found on the RAS website The principle behind the process is to deal with the matter as it comes to hand and in most cases it should be dealt with directly by the show. If the matter is in regards to an RAS official, the show may request the assistance of RAS Head Office as to how to deal with this in an appropriate manner. 9

11 LEGAL LIABILITY: SUPERVISION & CONTROL OF ANIMAL/S: The Association's insurance policy does not cover Competitors or Exhibitors. Each exhibitor must supervise and control their animals at all times and shall be liable for any hazard created or accident, illness or damage caused by the action of themselves or their animals at the Showgrounds. Exhibitors must comply with the appropriate Animal Legislation and the Health and Safety in Employment Act No person is permitted in any judging ring without express permission from the Head Steward of that ring. Only persons directly responsible for an Exhibit are permitted in the marshalling area. TEST AND TAG: Due to 2016 H&S Regulations and because Claudelands Events Centre is a business property, all electrical leads and electrical appliances brought on to the property must have a current Test N Tag Electrical Certificate. Any lead or appliance not compliant will need to be tested and certified on site at the owner's cost. 12 HORSE AND PONY MEASURING: At the request of the Mid-Northern District Council Royal Agricultural Society (horse stewards), all competitors are advised that measuring will take place at Gate 4, Claudelands Events Centre, Brooklyn Road, Hamilton on: Measuring dates 2018: September, Saturday 1 st, Wednesday 12 th & Sunday 23 rd. There will be no measuring on Show Day. Appointments must be made (between 1 pm & 3pm) with Jim Keyte at keytejb@gmail.com with: Your name, address & mobile number Number of measures to be done - New, Re measure or Life Your preferred date & time PRICES: Life Measure: $76.00 New Measure: $31.00 All ages. Re-Measure: $21.00 Youngstock Re-Measure (under 3yrs): $11.00 Replacement Certificate: $76.00 (must obtain from RAS Head Office) NOTE: Special measures may incur an extra fee. All horses to be presented in bridle and bit with the bit connected to the bridle except for miniatures. Half a centimetre will be deducted from height if horse has shoes on. Shoes must be removed for a Life Measure and Certificate to be pre-signed by Vet before measure. Each animal must be nominated for a section i.e. Hack, Park Hack, R.H., Pony, P.S.H.
