2 All the information in this booklet was made as a syllabus for the English ifaa Book of Rules. Anyone who wishes to know more about the IFAA, but are unwilling to read the entire Book of Rules, it being pages long. Dutch Open IFAA is in no way responsible for the contents of this booklet. This booklet is purely intended to make shooters, who are not as knowledgeable on the IFAA, come into contact more easily with the rules regarding targets and the general tournaments. IFAA stands for International Field Archery Association. Disciplines: - Freestyle Limited (Recurve and Compund ), (F.S.) - Freestyle Unlimited, (F.U.) - Bowhunter: (Recurve and Compound), (B.H.) - Bowhunter Unlimited, (B.U.) - Bowhunter Limited, (B.L.) - Longbow, (L.B.) - Historical Bow, (H.B.)

3 The IFAA prepares 28 targets in a course, consisting of 3 rounds: - The Field Round, - The Hunter Round and - The animal Round. In both the Field and Hunter round, you shoot four arrows. In the Animal round, you shoot three arrows, or until you hit the Hit- or Killzone. The Field Round The target face of the Field round consists of a black centre, a white middle ring and another black outer ring. Per distance, these rings are of different sizes. The points you get by hitting each ring, stays the same. You get 5 points for the centre, 4 points for the middle and 3 points for the outermost ring. The shooting-poles for the Field round are white of colour. The scoring cards are also white of colour. The longest shooting distance for the Field round, is 80 yards. 4 The Hunter Round The target face of the Hunter round again consists of three circles, but is black, with a white innermost circle. The scores you get per ring are the same as in the Field round: 5 for the centre, 4 for the middle and 3 for the outer ring. The sizes for the target faces are also of the same size as in the Field round, but the longest shooting distance is 70 yards, instead of 80. The shooting-poles in the Hunter round, are red of colour. Hunter-Round Target Face (20cm) Hunter Ronde Blazoen 35cm, 50cm en 65cm

5 The Animal Round The target faces of the Animal are in the shape of an animal. Which target it is, is indicated at the information-pole, where you can also find your range number. On the card is also indicated where the Hit- and Killzones are. The scores are: - 1 st arrow Kill: 20, Hit: 18, - 2 nd arrow Kill: 16, Hit: 14, - 3 rd arrow Kill: 12, Hit: 10, The shooting-poles of the Animal round, are yellow of colour. 7 Shooting-Position: At the information pole, shooters can find information about their target, ebing: the size of the target face, the distance to the target and the type of target (Casual, Walk-up or Fan target). The shooting distance is also marked on the shooting-poles. The shooters will shoot in the order of ABCD. They will shoot in pairs: A and B first, and then C and D. The shooters who start at the first target, will continue to start first for the first 14 targets. After that, C and D will begin, followed by A and B. This will continue to be so, until the end of the course. On Target Faces with multiple layers, such as the Bunny Target, the first pair will shoot at the lowest faces and the last at the highest. The shooting will commence in a Z-shape, as illustrated below. Walk-up Targets are shot at four different distances, the distance becoming shorter after every arrow. The Fan-Targets are shot also at four different positions, but the distance remains the same. One arrow will be shot per post.

8 Shooting-Gear: Your gear must be according to a number of guidelines. These are, but are not limited to: - The speed of the arrow shall not exceed 300 feet per second. - Shooters will use 4 identical arrows, marked by name. - The arrows must have a marking in place to indicate in what order they have been shot. For example, 1 to 4 rings on the shaft of the arrow)
