3 For DMVR SCCA Members, September/October is the time we start to work on events for next year. I am very interested in members opinions on 2018 season to date and how we should change for Each of us also need to think about how we want to be a part of DMVR in Elections are coming up sooner then we think and Currently, we have 3 positions open for next year, Regional Executive, Solo Rules and Solo events. I encourage you to consider Stepping Up to a stronger role in the club. We have a lot of energetic new talent and we need to get those individuals involved. Thank you to all that helped plan and work at the Regional Racing /TT event at RPM. Even though the car count was down the workers and competitors had a great time. At the event, we crowned the MiDiv Time Trials Champions. The 27 cars in attendance competed for double points and a chance at a divisional championship. We have listed the individual winner later in Drifting, but I would like to thank those DMVR members that put in the extra effort to make this happen. A Special thanks to Zach Bertness for his dedication to making Time Trials Tech happen. He attended 6/7 events and was Chief of Tech for TT while competing in the series. Each year at our annual awards banquet, DMVR members are presented with a combination of awards... from measured accomplishments to just plain fun! Rookie of the Year -Got Novice license and competed -Voted Award Driver of the Year -Who did the mostest racing and their class record -Voted Award Winged Bitch -Racer who had the baddest breaks during the season -Voted Award Midiv awards -MiDiv competitors who sign up for permanent #s, by class -Is tracked at Div level

5 Membership Chas will work on sending monthly s to secretary to welcome them to DMVR and Drifting for announcement to organization. Some s need updated in constant contact. Some people aren t getting s. Assistant RE November 10th, 2018 and Waveland Golf Course $30/ per person. RE Erich giving the 1 yr. notice of being RE only one more year. Lots of discussion about moving around. Lots of discussion and laughs by potential role changes. Discussion about Jerry and Randy stepping down and new potential role changes with other board members and other potential members taking on roles. Discussion about TT events. Budget what need for car counts and Hallett had 12 TT drivers. Discussion about joint SCCA organization. Walking Rally great turnout but meeting should not be combined next time. Or at least separate board meeting. Rally Cross Nationals Oct 13-16th. Test and Tune planned and volunteers always needed. Drifting: Big discussion. Board members need to Taylor monthly about content to put into drifting. If she reaches out and no one responds she has no content. We have a newer person in the role so we can t expect that person to do everything for us. LOTS OF DISCUSSION. DMVR Meeting Minutes 9/11/18 ATTENDIES MISSING: Randy Sims Solo IA event center. 89 cars started. IA challenge is a huge Maybe. Lots of discussion on site. Randy and Jerry stepping down from being in charge of SOLO. Lots of discussion. Club Racing Forms should be going out for awards. Workers Not Discussed, due to time Treasurer Money is here waiting for more money to come in. Street Survival No venue at this time, looking at other dates, last weekend Oct/Nov if we find a facility. Lots of discussion. Old Business 45 cars entered the July 4th Car show. 0 SCCA members were there with a car. Highly encourage SCCA members to participate in this event. New Business Go Cart Enduro MB2 Oct. 30th, 2018 Teams being made want to know more contact Chris. 2-4 people a group. 6-8 groups planned. Chris Requested money for deposit on Banquet $150. PASSED Chris Requested money for deposit on Enduro Go Cart $650. PASSED Nominations needed for awards banquet. Please work on these ASAP. Should be received no later Oct. 15th, 2018.

7 HOSKINS AWARD ANNOUNCEMENT This award is presented to the DMVR member who has consistently, over many years, given Outstanding Service for Involvement, Accomplishments, and Contributions in many aspects of Des Moines Valley Region Sports Car Club of America which reflect True Sportsmanship and Dedication involving Motorsports. - Hoskins award trophy The time has come to nominate your favorite club members for the Hoskins Award. This award is given annually to a member of DMVR that contributes to one or more of our programs over many years, and it s up to you, members, to put the names of your favorite helper bees into the hat. Please send your nominations to Randy Sams, or any Hoskins award winner by October 1st. Include the name of the person you would like to nominate, as well as a couple of sentences about them, and why you are nominating them. 8 Street Survival update Sadly the update is that there will be no Fall class date. We simply haven t been able to find a suitable site to hold a class. The school where we held the Jun class isn t available during the school year. The back pocket site we had isn t ready yet this Fall. So said, please pass the word to the parents you had talked to, and ask them to check the streetsurvival.org web site for class dates in the surrounding areas this Fall. And, to all: If you know of a site that meets the following criteria let one of the 3 of us know: Harlan: hdonald234@hotmail.com Fred: fourbells1@mchsi.com Bob: bobmulleninwdm@gmail.com Here are the criteria for our search: 3-4+ acres of asphalt/concrete unimpeded by lots of light poles or islands.
