From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. we will serve soft drinks, Tom and Jerrys, appetizers and snacks. We will also have discounted beer, wine and several drinks. Santa will be here at noon to greet the kiddies. This is a great way to wish all our members and families a very Merry Christmas. GOLF COMMITTEE NOTES We are preparing the Year 2016 events calendar and want your input For the last few years, the number of events have been pared as participation has waned. We would very much like to reverse this trend. Specifically, we would like to know what sort of tournaments you d like to participate in and when these should be scheduled. For example, we ve received suggestions to move the Men s Club Championship from June to July so younger members can participate. Would you support this change? Is cost of events an issue? Contact a committee member with your ideas and opinions. Members are: Terry Anderson, Bob Foley, Ned Giles, Norby Jordan, Kurt Kimmerling, Ron Kramer, and Steve White. Women s event planning: Sally Cline and Deb Thome. NEW YEAR'S EVE PARTY Ring in 2016 with us Thursday, December 31st, with all your Elk friends and guests. Doors will open at 7 p.m. for drinks and appetizers. We will start serving dinner at 7:30. Choose from lobster, prime rib or Chicken Cordon Bleu when you make your reservation. Music starts at 8:30. Appetizers, dinner, dessert and drinks for $75 per person. (Gratuity not included). Music and drinks only can be purchased for $30 per person. Call to reserve your spot now. GENERAL MANAGER REPORT Now that our beautiful course has been closed for the year our Pro Shop hours will run 11 to 4 Monday through Friday. Saturdays and Sundays we will be closed. We will continue our dining hours Wednesday and Fridays starting at 5:30. Although there will be no dinner served Wednesday, December 23rd, the Lodge bar will be open and we will have chili and oyster stew to purchase. We will be closed December 24th through the 27th and again December 30th through January 3rd. See the article in this bulletin for our New Year s celebration. We have inherited an elliptical machine that will be in the Pro Shop for the winter. We invite any members to use it 11 to 4 Monday through Friday.

2 What a season we had for golf this year Mother nature treated us well and with Ned and his staff's help the golf course was in top shape right to the final day. May we be blessed with the same circumstances next season. I want to wish each of you a blessed holiday season Should any of you be traveling to a warmer climate during this upcoming winter season NOTES FROM THE PRO and need suggestions for places to play don't hesitate to contact me. I will look forward to seeing each of you on the tee next spring and participating in the Elk's 590 Golf events in Terry Anderson, PGA Golf Professional Elks Country Club, Iowa PGA Section SECRETARY REPORT The following were proposed for membership in Lodge 590 at the 11/2/15 meeting: Greg Brennan by Dan Felderman David Grosland by Dale Simon Kurt Kimmerling was elected to the position of Trustee at the 11/16/15 meeting. Michael Carroll was nominated to the position of Lecturing Knight; vote will take place at 12/7/15 meeting. Exalted Ruler Jason Tjarks has appointed Lecturing Knight Jack Zimmerman to Loyal Knight to replace Jay Strunk, who has resigned. CONGRATULATIONS LODGE 590 For the second year in a row Lodge 590 has received a Citation of Merit from the Grand Lodge For its outstanding contribution to the growth of our order being among those Lodges achieving a net gain of membership. Exalted Ruler Jason Tjarks, Secretary Rob Cordle and Inner Guard Bill Courtney accepted the citation at the state convention held November 13th and 14th in Des Moines. Give yourself a hand, Lodge /2/15 I. General Manager Report A. First deadline on early buy program had 32 golf memberships, 25 cart storage and 7 season cart rentals. B. New Johnson County Supervisors minimum wage increase resulted in one 45-cent raise and six 20-cent raises. C. Second increase in May 2016 will see a 69% increase for most of guard staff. II. Old Business A. Second pool wall bid has been submitted. B. Convention delegation to Des Moines has been set. III. New Business A. Couple local attorneys have been contacted on property tax situation. B. Monthly payment plan for fees still being worked on. IV. Attendance Present: Don Sharp, Jason Tjarks, Steve Wilson and Jack Zimmerman. Absent: Greg Finger and Jay Strunk. BOARD OF DIRECTORS 11/16/15 I. General Manager Report A. Have collected 50% of past due accounts. B. No additions to early buy with second deadline 12/1. C. Last day course is open will be Wednesday 11/18. II. Old Business A. Greg Finger met with pool committee members and has set goal and priorities for monies to be raised. B. B.O.D. will talk with golf committee on monies available from last fundraiser to address removal of oak trees. C. Discussion on possible rec fee payment plan still progressing. III. New Business A. Season pool membership to be set at $400 in B. Vote on Kurt Kimmerling for Trustee to be taken tonight and Michael Carroll to be nominated for Lecturing Knight. IV. Attendance Present: Greg Finger, Don Sharp, Jason Tjarks, Steve Wilson and Jack Zimmerman. Absent: Jay Strunk.
