For me personally, it was tough last year having to take a hiatus from PCA Club Racing and tracking my Spec Boxster, especially following a very eventful and exciting 2012 rookie year. I hope to turn that situation around for the coming year and get back on track (pun intended) for at least a few events if all goes well. It will be interesting to see how quickly I can dust the cobwebs off and get my driving skills back to the level they were when I last raced. It should be quite a challenge. That aside, JSR as a club had a good year all in all. Without recounting each event here, I think most would agree we struck a good mix of favorite events and destinations with some new ones added as well. We will continue to work hard to put on club events that our members will want to participate in and make other improvements to the club. The JSR board has many good ideas on the table both new and old although we have yet to finalize our 2014 calendar. In the coming weeks and months, you can expect to hear more announcements through the usual channels. You can also look forward to seeing revamped websites. Both the national PCA site and our own JSR site will undergo revisions to keep up with needs and desires of members. For now, I will just give you a brief glimpse of events you can look forward to this year. For the track junkies, the biggest news is that our annual Thunder in the Pines DE will move to a Friday in early May and will be on the Lightning circuit for a 1-day event. Additionally, we will run an advanced/solo day on the Thunderbolt track in August. This will be run on the day preceding the Schattenbaum PCA Club Racing event. For the clean and polish crowd, we join Schneider+Nelson Porsche for another Porsches at the Beach car show. It will be held again at Pier Village in Long Branch on May 4th if you wish to mark your calendars. Speaking of marking your calendars, I hope you can make it out to our winter pizza party on January 25. It s a great social event in a relaxed atmosphere and provides the perfect opportunity for us to get out and break the cabin fever that sets in during the thick of winter. As we did last year, we ll meet at Woody s Roadside Tavern in Farmingdale to catch the early hours of the Daytona 24 endurance race on television in our own private room. The JSR staff will also run through our events calendar and take your suggestions on what else the club can do in the upcoming year. Pizzas and a variety of appetizers will be provided by the club. See additional details elsewhere in this issue of the Shoreline. I hope to see you there. In the meantime, I wish you and your families all a safe, healthy and happy New Year. Let s hope it brings good times for all and creates some long lasting memories.

Peter Scherr joined us as our new General Manager. Porsche introduced us to the allnew Macan. The new Turbos were released, and sales in general around the nation have increased dramatically is expected to be an even bigger year as the Macans will finally be available for purchase. We ll start to see some new GT3 s, and the 918 Spyders should start to appear shortly. Schneider + Nelson Porsche will see some dramatic changes as well, as we undergo construction to both the showroom and service department. This will enable us to expand as a business and continue our upward trend as one of the top Porsche dealerships in the North East. For the fourth year, we ll be holding Porsches at the Beach in Pier Village. This year it will be held on May 4 th, and we ll have room for approximately 60 cars. For those of you that attended last year, it was quite an event and I can only hope you ll join us again to make this another memorable day. Please contact me if you would like to hold a spot. We ll be holding a Tech Night in the upcoming months as spring time approaches. The date will be announced soon, so please keep your eyes open. For anyone interested, we do have an all-new 2014 Turbo in white on black available for immediate purchase. We re also taking orders for the Macan, which is more of a sports car than an SUV. 6 The Shoreline January - February 2014 Page 6 Jersey Shore Region to host two track days at New Jersey Motorsports Park in 2014 The Jersey Shore Region will host two track days in 2014 at New Jersey Motorsports Park. The two days will be split between two race tracks and will not be continuous days as we have run in the past. The first date is Friday May 2, 2014 on the Lightning race track. This event is for all skill levels including members who have never been on a race track before as well as advanced drivers and instructors. The one day event will be open for registration shortly and you will be able to register online as in prior years. The second event is a continuation of our event we usually run in August, except this year it will be on Thursday, August 24th only and is open to solo drivers only. It will be held on the Thunderbolt race track. This is a change from the two day event we used to run prior to the Schattenbaum club race. We are hopeful that the change to our Driver s Education schedule will allow us to be on both race courses and allow drivers a change of pace from our normal two day event on Thunderbolt. Join the Jersey Shore Members for the initial event of 2014 on Saturday January 25, 2014 at Woody s Roadhouse Inn loacted in Famingdale NJ. (woodysroadside.com) We will watch the start of the Daytona 24 hour race. Unfortunately, Porsche will not unveil their new prototype until Sebring so we will have to wait to see it. The event will start at 3:30 pm and run until 8 pm. The Jersey Shore Region will provide appetizers and pizza over the evening along with soft drinks.. There will ba a cash bar. Also, we will present the event schedule for 2014 and solicit suggestions for additional events members may be interested in. This is always a fun event with lots of Porsche talk and camaraderie, so mark your calenders and don t miss it. We all look forward to seeing you there. Volunteers Needed The Jersey Shore Region is asking for your help. We are currently seeking volunteers to serve on various committees and to fill future board positions.
