5 July 10, 2018 board meeting. Board members present were: President- Chuck Pierce, VP- Larry Kirkbride, Tresurer- Fred Miramontes, Membership Director- George Hatfield, Secretary- Jennifer Pierce, Webmaster/Media Chair- Don Chaisson, Historian- Norm Swanberg, Goodie Store Director- Virginia Swanberg. - Chuck welcomed the group and called the meeting to order at 7:14 pm. - The June minutes were approved. - Fred submitted the Treasurer report and George reported that we now have 222 members. - Larry has been reviewing our Bi-laws and making the PCA recommended changes. - Don has updated a sponsor address, adding a 2 week address change ad to web. - Norm will be writing an article on the past Yosemite PCA Presidents. - Virginia mentioned that she would like to pass on the goodie store responsibilities at the end of the year. Ongoing & New Business - Advertisers: Chuck asked that we find a member that I willing to collect and solicit advertising. - Wine Tour Review (June 23): The drive was fun and the tour at Ironstone was interesting albeit a bit long. The special parking and shuttle were exceptional. Lunch choices were minimal. - Tour to the Porsche Experience Center (LA) and Petersen Museum (July 11-13): Tour starts tomorrow review will me next month. Four couples are scheduled to go. - Blackhawk Tour (July 22): Currently 22 are attending, lunch will be at participants choice of local eateries (to be discussed at event). - New (& Old) Member BBQ (Aug. 5): Currently 28 attendees but increasing rapidly. Information on website, registration on Eventbrite. Jennifer will send a sign up for side dishes list to those attending. Virginia will have a goodie store booth and we will also have a sheet for proposed 2019 events for people to add to - Garage Tour #2: Rick Van Unen s garage (Aug. 18): Currently at 6 attendees, Information on website, registration on Eventbrite. 6 Lunch will be at Canal Street Bistro. - Fall Election Nominations: This year we vote for secretary, treasurer, replacement for goodie store director, and safety chair director. Fred would like to run again for treasurer. Term limits apply for officers however if there are no volunteers then current officers can continue if they desire to do so. Please submit your interest in any of these positions to the board via our president, Chuck Pierce. - November Planning Meeting (Nov. 13): We will meet at a local pizza parlor and the club will buy the pizza. Bring your ideas and suggestions for 2019 events to this meeting. - Christmas Lunch / Toys for Tots Charity Event (Dec. 2): Redwood Cafe in Modesto will be the location for this event and it will be a brunch buffet. Jennifer is waiting for the event planner to get back to her with details. Chuck is waiting for the Toys for Tots representative to get back to him to confirm. - Projector: Fred will check out the cost of a projector for the club so we can do slide shows at our events. - Pre-Rensport BBQ at Migliore Motorsport (Sept 22): George will confirm details and give information to Jen (for Eventbrite) and Don (for website) Adjournment 8:53 PM Next Meeting August 14, 7 the Pierce s EL PORTAL 6 AUGUST 2018

7 The 63rd Porsche Parade was held at Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri in July. We came home with a good number of awards. Jessica (GGR) and J Toney (SVR) again took 1st place in their TSD Rally class and Overall Winners of the Parade TSD Rally for the second year. Tom Provasi (LPR) driving with his brother Ken took 1st in class and 2nd overall. Andrew Blyholder (GGR) took Top Time of Day for the men at the Parade Autocross with his fast 914. Terry Zaccone (GGR) also won his class in Marcel. Tom Provasi and myself both took 1st in the Cayman class thanks to Tom s brother letting us borrow his Cayman. Zone 7 also had Michael Hinton (RR) take 1st in the Early 911 Tech Quiz class along with Andrew Blyholder taking 4th in the 914 quiz. In the Art Show, Caroline Doberenz (DR) received 1st in her class and also People s Choice award for her knitted Porsche crest blanket. Parade doesn t happen without a lot of volunteers. Rik Larson (SVR) co-chairs the Parade TSD Rally and Larry Sharp (DR) chaired the Parade Autocross. Looking forward is the 64th Porsche Parade 2019 to be held in Boca Raton, Florida at the Waldorf Astoria, July 21-27, It was also announced that Parade 2020 will be held in the Greater Palm Springs area, June 21-27, Save the dates. Over the next two months Zone 7 will need a lot of volunteers to help with Werks Reunion Monterey, PCA Corral at Laguna, Porsche Platz at Laguna and Rennsport Reunion at Laguna. If you are attending one or all of these events, please volunteer. For all events at Laguna Seca Raceway you will need to purchase a race ticket. 8 We recently lost two PCA members who contributed a lot to the club and were past Presidents. Pat Ikeda October 9, 1960 to May 5, 2018 Pat grew up in the back seat of a 356. His family was very much involved in PCA as was Pat. He held numerous offices including President 1997 and His last Porsche was a 911SC. He was raised in Stockton and earned a BA in Sociology from UC San Diego. He worked at the San Joaquin County Assessor s office as an appraiser for 33 years. He earned a 4th-degree black belt with the United States Judo Federation. He was an avid skier and ski instructor as well as fisherman. Bill Snyder June 10, 1947 to June 19, 2018 Bill was an enthusiastic member of PCA. He held numerous offices, including President 1983 & 84, 1988, 1994 & 95. One of his favorite events was the Historic Races at Laguna Seca. There were many trips to that event, with our club staying at Terrace Oaks Inn in Pacific Grove that was referred to as Hazels. Hazel was the manager of Terrace Oaks Inn and we got to know her well. Bill referred to her as Mom. We always had lunch in the infield near turns 3 & 4. There were several restaurants that the group always visited. Toasties in Pacific Grove was always included for a breakfast. Norm & Virginia still include a breakfast there in their Pacific Grove visits. He had a for many years which was well cared for. He told of one time exiting I-5 at 90 mph to find he had no brakes. He got back on an onramp and luckily did not have anyone crossing Peltier Road in front of him. Bill was an Army Veteran who served in Vietnam during that war. EL PORTAL 8 AUGUST 2018
