Classification for members meeting the target reguirements will be determined by the OPTA Classifying Committee in accordance with your official registered averages and/or known ability per the following tables. Decisions by this Committee will be final. SINGLES AA: 97% AND OVER A: 94% and under 97% B: 91% and under 94% C: 88% and under 91% D: under 88% DOUBLES AA: 93% and over A: 89% and under 93% B: 85% and under 89% C: 78% and under 85% D: under 78% TARGET REQUIREMENTS: Shooters who do not have the following Target Requirements by the 1 st Day of this Tournament (Aug 2 nd ) will be classified as follows: SINGLES: Any shooter with less than yard targets combined over the last year and current year will be placed in CLASS B or higher. HANDICAP: Any Junior or adult male shooter with less than 1000 handicap targets combined over the last year and current year will be placed no less than 23 yards. Any Lady, Sub-Junior, Veteran or Senior Veteran with less than 1000 handicap targets combined over the last year and current year will be placed no less than 20 yards. Shooters with an established yardage but not able to meet the target requirements, may shoot from their established yardage for targets only (not eligible for trophies or added money). DOUBLES: Any shooter with less than 700 doubles targets combined over the last year and current year will be placed in CLASS B or higher. 7

8 CLASSIFICATION CATEGORY DECLARATIONS LADY I, LADY II, JUNIOR, SUB-JR., JUNIOR GOLD, SUB VET., VETERAN AND SR. VET. Any shooter who wishes to declare a Special Category must do so at the time of classification. Competing as a Category shooter is not mandatory, but failure to declare will mean the shooter will not be eligible for any of the applicable category trophies. No shooter will be allowed to declare or change a category declaration after firing his or her first shot in the tournament. The only exception to this rule will be to correct a classification error made by the Classifying Committee but a shooter failing to declare is not considered an error by the Classifying Committee. It is the shooter s responsibility to check the classification receipt to ensure he/she has been properly classified and category has been declared if applicable. Any Category shooter who is top score for Event Champion will be the Event Champion. Any Category shooter who is tied for Event Champion may shoot-off or carry-over for the championship trophy. If a Category shooter fails to win the Event, he or she will fall back to Category - but not to Place, Class or Yardage. Any Category shooter whose score qualifies for a potential trophy in his/her declared category must compete for the category trophy and not for place, class or yardage group. Any Category shooter whose score does not qualify for a potential trophy in his/her category, may compete for place, class or yardage trophies. 8

9 JUNIOR AND SUB-JUNIOR SHOOTERS OPTA SPONSORSHIP For many years, it has been the goal of the Ontario Provincial Trapshooting Association to encourage youth to participate in our wonderful sport by sponsoring their targets in the Championship events. The OPTA will pay for any or all of the 400 championship targets for all the Resident and Non-Resident Youth shooters who classify in the ATA s Junior or Sub-Junior category. Junior and Sub Juniors will pay $1.00 for each 100 targets and the daily fees of $3.40 ATA & $3.00 OPTA. TARGETS AND AMMUNITION Fluorescent orange dome targets will be used in all events. Targets will be set daily in compliance with ATA guidelines. Targets can only be reset by Shoot Management and will only be done if there is a noticeable change in flight due to weather conditions or machine malfunction. All ammunition used on the practice and program traps during this tournament must be ATA compliant. Reloads meeting this requirement are allowed. Ammunition will be available and sold by the Hamilton Gun Club. No other ammunition may be sold on the grounds without the authorization of Hamilton Gun Club. All empty hulls ejected onto the ground will become the property of Hamilton Gun Club. 9
