3 WELCOME CANADIAN TRAPSHOOTING ASSOCIATION President s Message Welcome all shooters to the 60th Annual CTA shoot in the beautiful province of Manitoba at the host club of Brandon. To share a little history of the CTA in Brandon, let me tell you that it holds the attendance record of 504 shooters in First and foremost, this is the Canadian Trapshooting Championships! This is your opportunity as shooters to be in the record books of the CTA. We, as trap shooters, all need to support these clubs for putting together a program and prizes that we can be proud of as Canadians representing our provinces and our great country. I can only imagine the preparation time and expense that the Brandon Gun Club members have put into this shoot so let s reward them with attendance of as many shooters as possible. I am finding out very quickly that the President s position is a lot more demanding than it appeared. Jim Wood from Ontario has stepped down from the President s chair and he is to be commended for his time of service in this position. Also, I want to note that Jim s wife Dianne quite likely helped in the background and she is also to be commended for the job assistant well done. Shooters, we must embrace this CTA shoot for what it is. It is the one and only premier Canadian Trapshooting Championship that is recognized throughout Canada by Canadians. It has a deep history of Champions past and present. It is one of my goals as the CTA President to revive this event into what it has been in the past. Will it happen overnight? No, but we as the participants and shooters who support this event are the only ones that can change it. The CTA annual meeting will be held Friday evening after the shooting is completed. 4 WELCOME BRANDON GUN CLUB President s Welcome Dear Shooters, The Brandon Gun Club is pleased to host the 2015 Canadian Trapshooting Championships, and invites everyone to participate. We pledge to do our best to please you, and ensure that your time on the grounds will be enjoyable. This year marks the ninth time that the Brandon Gun Club has hosted the Canadian Trapshooting Championships. Regardless of whether you are a returning shooter, or this is your first time at the Brandon Gun Club, we will strive to make your shooting experience a memorable one. We would like to recognize the support of all of the sponsors for this year s Canadian Trapshooting Championships, and encourage that all Shooters reward them with your support and patronage. 5 GENERAL INFORMATION REGISTRATION INSURANCE ENTRY PAYMENT SHELLS JUNIORS Registration commences Wednesday, July 1st at noon and 8:00 a.m. on July 2nd-5th. Each shooter will be charged a one-time insurance fee of $3.00 at the Canadian. Cash or checks will be accepted as payment for shooter entry. Debit or credit cards cannot be processed at this shoot for entry payment. Reloads will be permitted at this tournament. A limited number of factory loaded shells will be available at prevailing prices. A valid firearms licence (PAL or POL) is required to purchase ammo. Junior and Sub-Junior shooters will be exempt from target and trophy fees (on the 200 Singles Championship Targets) provided that they do not play any purse or option in any event. Junior and Sub-Junior shooters must pay ATA Daily Fees, MTA Daily fees and CTA fees. TROPHIES TARGETS RV PARKING HANDICAPPING FEES Trophies awards will be governed by ATA rules. White Flyer orange dome targets will be used for all events. Approximately 50 RV spaces are available. 15 amp electrical service is provided. Rate: $25.00 for the shoot. All average cards must be current and averages must be calculated when being presented for classification to the handicap committee. Classification will be based on known ability, current and past averages. Shoot management reserves the right to review all scores in any singles or doubles event on day one and day two of this tournament for classification purposes. Shooters may be moved to a higher class at the discretion of shoot management. ATA Daily Fee $3.00, MTA Daily Fee $4.00, CTA Fee $2.00/100 targets. ALCOHOL SINGLES AND HANDICAP EVENTS DOUBLES EVENTS SHOOT-OFFS AND CARRY-OVERS CASHIERING Shooters are reminded of ATA rules that prohibit consumption of alcohol or drugs during participation in any event or sub-event or between events or sub-events including shoot-offs. All Singles and Handicap events will be shot over one bank (two traps), 50 targets per trap (25-25). All Doubles events will be shot on one bank (two traps) 10 targets, per post, 50 targets per trap. No shooter may win more than one trophy per event. Ties in preliminary Singles and Doubles Events will be carried over to the next similar event. Any ties in the Championship Singles and Doubles events will be shot off at the conclusion of those events. Ties in the preliminary handicap events will be shot off at the conclusion of that days shooting. Ties in the Championship Handicap event will be carried out at the conclusion of the event. All cashiered entries are final. No entries or options will be refunded unless the event is cancelled. BE READY TO SHOOT MAKE-UP TRAP VENDORS PAY-OUTS CHECK YOUR SCORES EARNED YARDAGE SAFETY With the goal of completing the days events in a timely manner, shooters will have 3 minutes to take the line once their squad is called. Shooters must report to the make-up trap within 15 minutes of the completion of the event. Failure to report will result in forfeiture of the event or sub events that were missed. A maximum of 50 targets may be shot on the make-up trap. All vendors require prior approval from the Brandon Gun Club. All purses and options will be paid out at the conclusion of the shoot. Check your scores before leaving each post and at the end of each sub-event. Any changes to scores may only be made in strict accordance with ATA rules. Shooters earning yardage in any Handicap event must report to the Classification Desk to have your Average Card punched. Safety is our number one priority. It is the responsibility of Special Category shooters to ensure that their Special Category has been noted on their entry form prior to cashiering for the first event entered. PENALTY CLASSIFICATION AND YARDAGE SINGLES A shooter who has less than 1000 total 16 yard registered targets combined for the current and previous two years will be assigned to B class or higher at the discretion of the classifier. DOUBLES A shooter who has less than 500 total doubles registered targets combined for the current and previous two years will be assigned to B class or higher at the discretion of the classifier. HANDICAP A shooter will shoot their ATA or PITA yardage, whichever is the longest. Male, Sub-Vet male, and Junior male shooters who have less than 1000 total registered handicap targets, in the current and previous two years, will shoot from no less than 23 yards.
