3 INTRODUCTION Arrive and drive racing From the founders of the Exotics Racing supercar experience comes a brand new take on motorsport. It s racing made easy. And it s open to anyone who s shared the dream of becoming a race car driver. The arrive-and-drive EXR Racing Series takes the adventure to the next level with real racing in fun cars available to anyone with the desire to make it happen. The revolutionary concept promises great competition without any of the hassle of having to invest in a car, hire a crew, or buy expensive gear. It is a turn-key, professional-level experience, and it s open to all. The EXR Racing Series provides every driver in the field with a full complement of the best equipment and any training needed to get started. The brand new fleet of EXR LV02 cars, purpose-built tracks, excellent trackside facilities, a licensing program, personalized coaching and skilled technicians are all supplied. The brand new series was created by Romain Thievin and David Perisset, the co-founders of the wildly successful Exotics Racing experience. It is overseen by former IndyCar team owner Eric Bachelart, with professional drivers Alex Premat as team manager and Tristan Vautier as sporting advisor. David Perisset Competition takes the form of sprint or endurance format racing, with 16 dates per season, as well as an exciting Superfinals event. Drivers can pick and choose dates to create a competition calendar that suits them, with their best finishes scored in the championship. Registration is now open for dates starting this fall. 4 INTERVIEW RACING WITHIN REACH Based on the successful Mitjet format in Europe, the EXR Racing Series is the brainchild of an already successful automotive partnership between professional driver Romain Thievin and investment banker David Perisset. Their first project together, Exotics Racing, delivers the dream of driving supercars to more than 45,000 customers per year at purpose built tracks in Los Angeles and Las Vegas. For their next act, Thievin and Perisset are opening the door to motorsport to anyone who wants to race. jh: Describe what it is like to compete in the EXR Racing Series? DP: Drivers and their guests can expect high quality equipment and facilities as well as sensational racing on the track. We take care of all the details and you just turn up and race. Racing with us means there s no need to invest in a car, a hauler, or hire a crew, which really keeps the costs down. We also offer unique opportunities like the chance to drive a supercar between races, or guest ride-alongs. It s all the fun of racing, with none of the stress. jen horsey: What prompted you to create the EXR Racing Series? Romain ThiEvin: What we did for exotics we re doing now for road racing. We didn t start this project with a business concept; we started with a passion for racing. When David and I began talking about this, we wiped the slate clean and asked ourselves: What does the perfect racing championship look like to us? And then we set out to create it. «We didn t start this project with a business concept; we started with a passion for racing.» David Perisset: I discovered motorsport later in life, after I was already well on my way to a professional career in business. When I found myself with the time and resources to finally start racing, I had more questions than answers. I had known Romain for a long time and I turned to him for advice. We actually built a team and raced together in European stock cars (and won the European NASCAR series!), but the experience was an eye opener for both of us. I just wanted to race on the weekends but the logistics of getting a car together and organizing the team were incredibly complicated and time consuming. At one point we looked at each other and asked: Isn t this supposed to be fun? Of course it is! That s what started us down the road of building the EXR Racing Series. RT: We re going to deliver the whole motorsport experience that somebody might think of when they imagine what it s like for the pros: we make sure drivers don t have anything to worry about except driving. We have exclusive facilities in Las Vegas and Los Angeles, as well as stops planned at special tracks like Laguna Seca. We re keeping to the west coast right now, but the most important thing is that all of our races are in great places where competitors and family and friends can stay in comfortable hotels, eat amazing meals, see the sights and have a great weekend on and off the track. Jh: Who do you expect to see joining in the series? DP: When it comes to racing experience, Romain and I are at opposite ends of the spectrum, and we designed the series so it would be fun for us both. I m looking forward to welcoming a mix of drivers to our events. RT: It will be a mix and I m anticipating that developing professionals as well as gentlemen racers are going to get a lot out of the series. A young driver looking for the next opportunity after karting is really going to enjoy the sprint format: going flat-out fast for 20 laps. And sharing a car in endurance racing could be an amazing experience for everybody on the team maybe the young guns can teach the masters a few things. One of the things I ve always liked about this kind of spec-series racing is that when it s the same car for all drivers, the competition will be won by pure driving. 5 INTERVIEW JH: What do you offer that isn t found in other series? RT: It is truly arrive and drive. We take care of anything and everything drivers need. We have the best equipment, professional resources, including top driver coaches and incredible mechanics, and pleasant at-track staff to take care of guests. Everything at EXR Racing Series is new and fresh and we re committed to maintaining a very high standard. DP: We re focused on the driver s experience and the EXR Racing Series offers a schedule that is a la carte. Drivers can race whatever dates work for them, and we ll keep the eight best results for the championship. And because our tracks operate for our exclusive use, we can make the cars and the tracks available seven days a week for individualized coaching or practice sessions. There will also be night racing, which isn t something you see very much of on the west coast. RT: We offer everything needed to get started, including a racing school that ensures everybody is comfortable and confident when they get out on the track. We re also uniquely positioned to make it easy for drivers to find sponsorship by making packages available online so that people can support the team of their choice with the swipe of a credit card. JH: Tell us about your plans for the Superfinals event? RT: We celebrate the conclusion of the traditional motorsport season by opening our doors in Las Vegas for an exciting race over five days to discover the best driver of 2015! It will start with a pool of professionals and amateurs of all levels and we ll narrow the field from qualifying through elimination heats to a winner-take-all contest for a $100,000 prize. Successful graduates of our one- or two-day training programs receive an EXR Racing Series competition license. The program is suitable for all skill and experience levels and includes a mix of customized coaching, along with classroom and on-track driving sessions. Students in all school programs are coached by professional racers including champion drivers Alex Premat and Tristan Vautier. Top graduates are invited into a Driver Search Program where they have the chance to win a fully funded season in the series. 17 TEST DRIVE The EXR LV02 is a driver s machine. The lightweight, rear-wheel drive racing car offers a rewarding driving experience that is fun to drive all the way to the edge. Professional drivers Romain Thievin, Alexandre Premat and Tristan Vautier have all put the car through its paces and they agree the car is excellent for drivers of all levels. 22 EXOTICS RACING I m a race car driver. I was one of the lucky ones who had a chance to start out with karts as a kid, and then I went sports car racing. The experience is fantastic. It s living the dream, and then some. Sharing that is what inspired us to build the EXR Racing Series: we re opening the door to motorsport to anyone with the desire to make it happen. 23 exr racing series team THE TEAM Romain Thievin Co-founder A professional racing driver with five titles in Europe, Romain Thievin has also worked as a stunt performer in over 150 television and film productions, including a star turn behind the wheel of the memorable red Mini in The Bourne Identity and as host of the popular French TV show Fast Club. He is the co-founder of both Exotics Racing and the EXR Racing Series. David Perisset Co-founder EXR Racing Series co-founder David Perisset built a successful career at Rothschild Bank and Lehman Brothers before he left investment banking in Europe to co-found Exotics Racing in the United States. In addition to his work with Exotics Racing and the EXR Racing Series, he is an enthusiastic amateur racer who has competed in European stock car competition. Eric Bachelart Managing Director Veteran motorsport professional Eric Bachelart began his career as a star driver, racing around the world in top open wheel and sports car competition before switching gears to team ownership with Conquest Racing in Formula Atlantic, sports car racing and Indy Lights.
