I looked at the rink (in Reno) and I said to myself, 'We need to have one, remembers Randall, general manager of the Truckee-Donner Recreation & Park District. "I came back and looked at my staff and said, We're going to build a rink (in Truckee). The intent, I always thought," Randall said, "was if we put a smaller rink in, there would eventually be a demand for a larger one and Truckee would get a full-sized rink one day. 2000: Small Rink Opens

11 Local Efforts to build a rink in Truckee 2010: TDRPD (due to economic constraints) looks at and begins to review facility closures due to low interest (usage) and high expense. 2010: TDRPD Estimates of financial drain appx. $50,000+/yr 2010: De LaFontaine, Bell, Fellows, Boeri, many others volunteer time to help offset staff costs 2015: Truckee Tahoe Ice Rink Project Team formed to explore expansion of facility at or close to full size rink.
