3 Dear friends, dear members of The Biathlon Family, With summer still being the talk of the town The Biathlon Family is slowly setting its eyes and with that its goals towards the new season, new challenges, new highlights, new drama and, more than ever, towards the new beginning. Season 2017/2018 was full of extraordinary highs for biathlon and not just at the Olympics where some athletes managed to grow their personal legends further still, where ten nations celebrated winning at least one Olympic medal, where one team of youngsters overnight transformed itself into the team of champions and where all the preparations were done by South Korean experts trained previously by IBU experts, winning a nonvisible but so important medal for biathlon and IBU: the successful transfer of knowledge and know-how. BMW IBU World Cup Season 2017/2018 also brought a record-breaking performance of the mighty French superstar Martin Fourcade, a delightful showdown of women s battle for the Overall Title and many farewells of big names, all overshadowed by the farewell of the greatest biathlete of all times, Ole Einar Bjoerndalen of Norway. Season 2017/2018 was also full of difficult and at times controversial decisions taken and we all know it by now ended with a shock and investigation. Those hard days and weeks in the aftermath of 10 April 2018 were full of self-questioning but also the beginning of new dawn for the IBU and biathlon. Important decisions were taken in order to start creating a Clear Cut with the past and to move IBU on the path of much greater transparency and accountability. It is in the light of new direction taken that I am especially delighted to welcome you all to the IBU Summer World Championships in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic. The enthusiasm and joy with which Czech fans embrace biathlon is something everybody loves to be part of and what many of us got to know firsthand during IBU World Championships in 2013 and of course during the BMW IBU World Cup staged in Nove Mesto. Great infrastructure, warm hospitability, impeccable organization and full stands have always been the trademark of Nove Mesto. While it would be exaggerating to claim IBU Summer World Championships are an indicator about the things to come during the BMW IBU World Cup it is nevertheless a very important event for the IBU and biathlon for athletes, coaches, technicians, wax experts, IBU officials and media meet for the first bigger summit in the new season. May I wish you all a successful IBU Summer Biathlon World Championships, may good health serve you in Nove Mesto and throughout the 2018/2019 season and the best of luck. A.7 ACCREDITATION OF THE TEAMS The registration and the accreditation of the teams will be in a designated room in the Vysočina Arena. All team accreditations and limited amount of parking cards per team (allowing for entrance and parking inside the Vysočina Arena) shall be collected in the Logistic centre. All participants must be covered by sufficient health, accident and liability insurance. By submitting the entry form the respected National Federation confirms that all persons registered are covered by the appropriate insurance (in accordance with IBU Event and Competition Rules). A.9 REGULATIONS REGARDING THE IMPORT AND EXPORT OF RIFLES, AMMUNITION AND RADIO EQUIPMENT. Rifle and ammunition import Participants from the EU member countries have to have their European gun license and official Invitation for the event when crossing the border of the Czech Republic. Participants from countries outside the EU need the Import rifle permission or, as minimum, invitation letter with names and riffle numbers issued by the OC. National Federations have to send completed Application form for import of rifles and ammunition to kupilikova@ biatlon.cz for authorization. Based on this authorized form and Invitation letter the NF have to ask for issuing of the Import rifle permission at the Embassy or Consulate of the Czech Republic in their home country. The import of rifles and ammunitions is free of charge based on the Invitation letter. 5 A.10 VISA REGULATIONS The teams coming from visa duty countries are obliged to obtain an entry visa for their entry into the Czech Republic. The entry visa will be issued by the Czech Republic Embassy in respective countries based on the Czech Biathlon Union s Invitation letter. For the invitation letter please contact the Czech Biathlon Union address entered bellow. Citizens of the following IBU member countries need the entry visa when travelling to the Czech Republic: ARM, BLR, CHN, GEO, KAZ, KGZ, MDA, MNG, RUS, TUR, UKR, UZB. All above-mentioned NF have to send the completed form Application for Visa (the name list of participants for Visa) to the Czech Biathlon Union for authorisation. This document will be subsequently sent back for Visa application. Please note that due to last-minute event relocation the possibilities for transport arrangements from the side of the OC are limited and shall be used only in cases when no other solution is possible. The entire period for which the hotel is contracted shall be paid for. Earlier departure or changes made without notification will not be considered. 7 C.2 COMPETITION RULES The competitions will be held according to the valid IBU Rules in their current version. C5. ROLLER SKIS, HELMETS According to the rules the use of helmets is obligatory at all trainings and competitions (IBU E&C Rules Annex D 3.2.1). Helmets have to be worn correctly not with backside in front. Roller skis for Official Trainings (Thursday + Friday afternoon) and Competitions will be provided by the IBU. Roller ski distribution will take place close to the team cabins. Models: Men SRB 01 / Women Marwe A610 Roller skis have to be given back immediately after the end of Official Training (including Friday afternoon) and/or Competition. For zeroing all athletes have to use their own roller skis. The system of roller ski distribution will be described in the Team info document. C.6 STADIUM MAP AND COURSE MAPS The course maps are attached at the end of the Invitation document and also available at the website of the Organizing Committee NMNM at C.7 PRELIMINARY MATERIAL CONTROL The control room is located next to the Competition office. Rifles, suits (clothing) and helmets will be checked.
