1 2006 World Championships TEAM USA Updates & Pictures June 17 - USA Mixed Pair wins BRONZE! USA Trio finishes 6th! Participating in the 20th Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships were 150 competitors from 19 countries including, Australia, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, China, Great Britain, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Ukraine, and the United States participated in the 2006 World Championships. The Portuguese Trampoline & Sports Acrobatics Federation, Gymnastics Federation of Portugal, and the FIG organized and managed a great event which included television coverage for the first time! After numerous years of involvement in the sport, Michael and Clare won their first World Championships medal - bronze!! Michael and Clare have been partners for just a year and a half and in that short time have risen to the top of the sport and been able to accomplish many of their goals, including winning a medal at World Championships. Michael and Clare finished with a well executed and captivating

2 combined exercise to claim the bronze medal. The field for the Mixed Pair competition included 14 pairs representing 13 countries. The trio, Mariah, Tisa & Ally, hit three for three routines to qualify into finals from a strong group of competitors, including 16 groups from 13 countries. The three athletes have been partners for less than one year yet they were able to come together and accomplish their goal of qualifying into finals at World Championships, which speaks to their talent and determination as athletes. In finals, the USA trio performed a well choreographed and difficult routine and finished in sixth place. With more time together as a trio, they have a bright future ahead of them.

USA Mixed Pair, Michael Rodrigues & Clare Brunson and USA Women's Group Mariah Henninger, Ally Kidd, Tisa Penny both qualified from preliminary competition to finals. In the Mixed Pair division, Michael & Clare performed a beautiful and solid combined exercise to move into second place heading into finals. Their three exercise total was They are behind Russia's Gurgenidze & Katchalova and ahead of Poland and Russia 2. In Women's Group, the USA trio completed the second day of competition, moving up one position and finishing solidly in 6th place. Their three exercise total was Ahead of the USA is two Russian trios, two Great Britain trios and Belarus. Finals take place Saturday, June 17.

4 June 15 - The first day of competition of the 20th Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships. By the end of day one, both USA pair/groups put forth strong performances. Mixed Pair, Michael Rodrigues & Clare Brunson are in third place after their dynamic exercise with a score of They are within 0.25 of the leaders, Gurgenidze & Katchalova of Russia. After their

5 balance exercise, Women's Group, Mariah Henninger, Tisa Penny, & Ally Kidd stand in 7th place with a score of in a field of 16 trios. The Women's Group event is currently lead by two trios from Russia and in third place Portugal. June 14 - Team USA completes their final training session in the Pavilhao Multidesportos de Coimbra in preparation for the World Championships competition. Mixed Pair, Michael Rodrigues & Clare Brunson, along with Women's Group, Mariah Henninger, Tisa Penny, and Ally Kidd are prepared and excited to begin competition. Both pair/groups have worked extremely hard in preparation for this event and feel confident in their ability to do well during the event. Good Luck to the USA athletes! Competition begins tomorrow - June 15. June 11 - World Championships Team arrives in Portugal and spends time training at Ginasio Clube Portugues in Lisbon.
