1 Dear Friends, At the end of this Olympic Cycle I like to give you some information for the start of the new cycle. The Code of Points was approved in May 2016 and published on the FIG website. As it is with changes in the COP, even if controlled many times, small mistakes or unclear formulations have been overseen and only discovered during translation into other languages or by some clever international judges. All these small mistakes or unclear formulation will be addressed during the upcoming judges` courses and then corrected immediately after the Intercontinental Course. Just as an example: In synchronized trampoline it says.. the average of the median deductions [considering landing deductions] is subtracted from the highest possible execution score [max. 20 pts] to give the pair s execution score for a routine). 20 points maximum is of course wrong, but the examples given under is right: Score = E (max. 10 pts) + H (max. 10 pts) + S (max. 20 pts) + D Penalty Many questions have been asked to the new scoring system. In Trampoline we (TC) invented the horizontal displacement as separate criteria within the execution judging. At FIG events we will try to have a device (HD) ready for automatic measurement in But as we know it will maybe not ready before the World Championships and also will not be available for some time in all our federations, we gave this task to special judges. At the end of this newsletter you will find some tables, where it is explained how to handle the scoring with and without HD device. The change in scoring from the median mark (majority) to the medium marks (2 in TRA and 3 for TUM and DMT) which will be deducted from a maximum score for execution of 20 points in TRA Individual and from 30 points in DMT and Tumbling is also explained in tables further down this letter. There was some confusion about the new measurements on the bed, when they will be available and what can be done with the currents beds. Please see underneath drawings and measurements which will be valid from The manufacturers will be ready to produce these beds, they also will give you some guidelines how to mark the new zone (with lines 2cm wide) onto the old beds, especially which textile marker you should use. New text (Apparatus Norms 2017: Part II; TRA1; Page 76; clause 2.5): Two rectangular areas must be marked out clearly in red lines and each area symmetrically oriented to the middle of the bed. The delimitation lines belong to the marked areas: Area A (rectangle 215 * 108): - the delimitation lines for area A shall not only define the rectangle area, but shall also be continued to the end of the bed (see figure). Dimensions 70 cm +/- 3 cm We must admit that we don t have enough organizers for the World Cups and no organizers at the moment for the World Championships 2018 and Please read carefully the corrected version of the World Cup Rules, where the schedule for the years is extended. Maybe now for your federations it is also possible to host such an important event. In the series the World Cups will be part of the qualification system for the Olympic Games. World Championships in the years between the Olympic Games are our most important events anyway, so if you see an opportunity, please send your bid to the FIG as soon as possible.
