For Beta Sigma Phi membership information call: BETA-2B1( ) August 2014 Volume Issue 4 Woohoo, it s Beginning Day again! I love Beginning Day and it doesn t have anything to do with the fact that for my chapter at least, it involves food and maybe a Mimosa or Bloody Mary or two. Really! My chapter decided to go Career chapter last year to see how we liked it. This is our second time doing it, so we haven t not been seeing each other like we regularly have, but somehow the new start for us and decisions on how to work this year and, of course, brunch at The Bristol, I find exciting. We have had no changes to our roster, so we won t be doing a new yearbook. We are frugal and a bit lazy and since I usually do them, I m not unhappy. We have gone fully digital for most folks and those who print them do it themselves, so it s not exactly hard, but I will miss the question. Each year we get a new question and we all answer the same one. It s amazing what you can learn about people you ve known for years through these questions. I may break down and send out a question just so we ll have it. Now I d just have to think of the question. But what is Beginning Day to most of us really? It is the start of a new sorority year. Just like the new school year, we go back and see our friends, get our new yearbook no pencils or crayons or pencil boxes, but still, new. We look at the outlines of where we are going to try to go in the new year, and we may pick our new Secret Sisters. My chapter has tried something new there too; we bring a gift to the gift occasions and if you bring one, you draw one, if you don t, you don t. That way we all get to see our gift opened and we don t have anyone miss out who wanted to participate. I miss the old way though. That will be one of our decisions this new year. Don t be afraid to try new things! Chapter formatting can change as you need it to, traditions can adjust. Be open to make your chapter what it needs to be to best serve the most sisters. We can all fall into ruts. The new year is a time to look at things with new eyes and try new ideas. You can always change back if you don t like it. It s time to look at your numbers and see if you need more people. I ve got someone I d love to have if she can swing it with her schedule. In other words, this is the time of possibilities, so don t say no out of hand. Be open and adventuresome we all know that we can get stale if we don t. So, go have a nice meal, maybe a Bellini and some chocolate and see if you need to shake it up a little now is the time to do it! Laura

British Columbia Mu Master, Kelowna By Christina Mervyn & Marg Counsell Editor s note: Each issue we randomly select the name of one subscriber. Her chapter becomes the Torch Chapter for the issue! Kelowna is a bustling city of 150,000 people nestled in the center of the beautiful Okanagan Valley. It sits on the 100 mile long Lake Okanagan, home of the legendary Ogopogo - some say a sister to the Loch Ness Monster. With four distinct seasons but mild weather year round, Kelowna is a skiing, golfing and boating destination often referred to as Canada s Hawaii. The great weather is perfect for orchards and vineyards, and many awardwinning wines have emerged in recent years. There are four Master Chapters in the valley, but Mu Master was the first, obtaining our Charter in Our 15 active members have an amazing total of 615 years in Beta Sigma Phi. One of our members, Irene, has received the International Award of Distinction and our eldest member, Sue, is about to celebrate her 94th birthday and 66th year as a sister. Our chapter consists of two Exemplar, one Preceptor, two Laureate, three Master and seven Torchbearers. The more experienced sisters are very kind and giving to the newer members - always ready to help. Though small in number, we re mighty in dedication and service. Through the years, Mu Master has helped our community by selling Regal entertainment books, teddy bears and calendars as well as holding garage sales, gift wrapping services and bottle drives. Our causes have varied from the Hospice, Food Bank and Women s Shelter to medical research for both Cancer and Destonia. The medical research donations have been especially poignant to us as we ve got four proud cancer survivors and one Mu Master granddaughter who suffers from destonia. When one of our sisters passes away, we always provide the food for the reception. We are active in our City Council and two of our members held executive positions when our district hosted Friendship Day in Many of our sisters are proud community arts supporters, holding season s tickets to local live concerts and theatrical productions. Each member still does a program once a year and we find we learn a great deal from each other. Mu Master ladies love to celebrate, and we go out to lunch for each member s birthday. If it happens to be a big birthday with a 0 or 5 at the end, we even buy their lunch and present them with a yellow rose. As you can see, Mu Master ladies keep very busy with Beta Sigma Phi. Many are also active in other aspects of the community. Elaine is a Lioness and master fundraiser, Trish is a Caring Clown at the hospital, and Marg is an active church member who went to Haiti to help after the earthquake. Nuala and Shirley are snowbirds, Stephanie is an active golfer, and Carole is a talented master seamstress. Loretta is a proud grandmother of twins, Joan keeps us smiling with her positive attitude and Dolores has just returned to us after four years away! Edie keeps us laughing with her wicked sense of humor, Sue is our fashion plate, and Ike is the keeper of all things Beta Sigma Phi. Our President Christina loves everything purple, and tries very hard to reign in this lively bunch. The ladies of Mu Master are a thoughtful, caring group who enjoy life to the fullest, always remembering we only go this way once. They are honoured to be members of Beta Sigma Phi and thrilled to be highlighted in The Torch. August 2014 The Torch 5

Pay It Forward An Exciting Time to Rush! I am happy to announce our new internal rushing theme is Pay it Forward with Beta Sigma Phi s Friendship Connection. This ties in to Laura Ross Wingfield s challenge for each member to add a member. It also reflects the line from our Opening Ritual, to shed the light of our torch throughout the world. You could also link it to our current International theme, Expand Your Beta Sigma Phi Family Tree. I know the rushing team is very excited to start working with this theme and watch the excitement grow! Starting this sorority year here at International headquarters, we have a wall on our main floor designated as the Friendly Venture Wall of Fame. Each new Friendly Venture chapter which is established will have its chapter name, location, and organizer name(s) permanently written on a brick on the west wall in the rushing department (see photo on previous page). We know this will become a commemorative place to visit for any member who was involved in the formation of a new Friendly Venture chapter, and we hope to see many new chapters established in time for our 85th Anniversary celebration. A lovely new gold rushing charm has been developed for our Vice Presidents! It resembles our Torch, and will be sent to a chapter Vice President when she successfully adds three pledges to her chapter within the same sorority year. That s not all. When seven or more pledges are added within the same sorority year, all the chapter officers will receive the gold rushing charm. The chapter will automatically earn a 4-star yardstick rating for the current sorority year. Isn t that exciting? Our members have requested to have the same contest available for the incoming sorority year to win another convention registration a value up to $200. The Executive Council has agreed. The name of any active member who encourages a woman to join Beta Sigma Phi as an active member (not honorary), along with the pledge s name, will be entered into a drawing to win the convention registration. The drawing will be on June 1, Please note that a member must be active in her membership to win the prize. The registration must be used by the end of the following calendar year. There are still more accolades for Vice Presidents this new sorority year! Besides being featured in an issue of The Torch for their great achievement, each Vice President that adds five or more pledges to her chapter will have her personal name and chapter name and location featured in a framed Document of Achievement, which will hang permanently at International headquarters for all future visitors to see and admire. So as you can see, this is an exciting year a year to share your enthusiasm, your passion, your goal, to see your chapter Pay It Forward. I can t wait to share it with you! Yours in sisterhood, FORWARD IT IT PAY Friendship Connection Lola Ruby Membership Director August 2014 The Torch 7

Conventions The Carolinas North and South Carolina partnered up for the 2014 Carolinas Convention April in Asheville, North Carolina. Vivian Iddings, director of service, was the guest speaker from International. The theme reflected local pride: Stepping Out Asheville Style. About 350 women attended, bringing along some 40 spouses and significant others. Friday evening, sisters were given a list of items for a fun scavenger hunt, featuring everyday items such as a golf tee, ketchup packet, and a travel sewing kit, to name a few. Friday night also featured a bevy of activities, including a social hour for catching up, fun games, and a delicious buffet dinner complete with music and dancing. Saturday featured informative and touching forums on domestic violence and breast cancer. At the luncheon, children s author Jean Ann Taylor spoke and signed copies of her books. Alpha Omega, an order of honor within Beta Sigma Phi exclusive to the Carolinas, inducted three members from each state. Saturday evening featured dinner and entertainment, with music from the group Par111. On Sunday, Vivian spoke, followed by the tradtional Sunday wrap-up activities. It was a lovely convention in a gorgeous part of the country. 8 August 2014 The Torch Nothing stirs the blood and raises the passion for Beta Sigma Phi like a great convention! This convention season, sisters have been pulling out all the stops to ensure great times and great memories. Here are just a few of the rousing, entertaining and moving convention experiences of 2014 so far. Keep an eye on the September-October issue of The Torch for even more! California The coastal city of Monterey was the beautiful background for the 2014 California State Convention, held May 1-4. Given the location, the theme Sisters Reflecting By the Sea could not have been more appropriate! Laura Ross Wingfield, executive director of Beta Sigma Phi, was the special guest speaker from International. Thursday night featured a reception and dinner with a great singer who performed classics from the Sinatra era that had sisters swooning. Local tours were offered on Friday, including Carmel, Elkhorn Slough, wineries, and more. A Grotto of the Sea Goddess cocktail party honored International Award of Distinction members, and at the Jewels of the Sea recognition dinner, the fabulous young entertainer known as Tashe really wowed the crowd. Saturday was full of activity, including a performance from a Beach Boys tribute band, and a presentation from naturalist Brent Nixon. Laura spoke at the Sandcastles by the Sea lunch, and donations were awarded to various worthy causes. At Saturday night s dinner, Mike Amaral s band had everyone dancing. There were 44 men and 527 women but that didn t stop anyone, Laura said. Sunday s breakfast had more donations from local chapters and International. Next year, the convention lamp passes to Newport Beach. Florida Sisters revved their engines and waved the checkered flag for the 2014 Florida State Convention in Daytona Beach May The theme, appropriately enough, was Race Scene. Seann McAnally, editor of The Torch, was the guest speaker from International. The beach-front hotel provided luxurious surroundings for the festivities, which began Thursday night with a reception. Friday morning, some sisters were up early for a 6 a.m. walk on the beach. Line dancing lessons, cards and games, and the Beta Boutique were just some of the Friday activities. Friday s dinner featured an introduction to Woman of the Year candidates, and a Biker Babe Parade, as sisters strutted their stuff in biker outfits (some traditional, some not see photo). Saturday opened with another beach walk and memorial ritual, and a breakfast meeting at which Seann spoke. Later, Seann conducted a vigorous Q&A with sisters, who also enjoyed toy car races, karaoke by the pool, bunco, and an online tea. That night at dinner, sisters were inducted into the Golden and Diamond circles, and Seann presented the International Award of Distinction to Dorothy J. Wright of Florida Preceptor Zeta Mu, Lake Worth. A wild casino night followed, as sisters tried their hands at various games of chance. Sunday morning featured winners of various contests, a drawing for a 32 television and other prizes, along with the traditional closing activities and the passing of the lamp.

All Aboard the BSF Express! Sisters plan train trip to 2016 International Convention By Janice Scheible, California Torchbearer Delta, Bakersfield Sisters enjoy refreshments as a train trip poster and information was shared by ladies at the BSF Express to Kansas City gathering at the 2014 California Convention. When the 2016 International Convention was announced, I wanted to attend and make it a trip to remember! What better way to do this than a Beta Sigma Phi train trip to and from the convention with my sorority sisters? So planning for the BSF Express to Kansas City began. I soon had Jackie Williams and Irene Sanders, both members of California Preceptor Zeta Omega, Bakersfield, assisting me. After months of hard work and planning, we started getting the word out to our California sisters. It didn t take long for the word to spread among the California councils. The response has been fantastic! We will be aboard the Amtrak Southwest Chief, which departs the evening of Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2016 from the Los Angeles Union Station, arriving in Kansas City, Missouri on the following Thursday morning (one day and two nights each way). Sisters can board at various stations along the route through California, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Kansas. We already have some 75 sisters signed up from two states, with inquiries from a third state. Many sisters are traveling quite a distance to board the train, and when sisters from Utah contacted us asking if they could join our trip, the excitement really escalated! During the 2014 California Convention, we welcomed participants and interested sisters at our BSF Express to Kansas City gathering. This was a wonderful way to share details about the trip, meet other participants and enjoy some refreshments together. There are now enough sisters to fill more than one Superliner Sleeper car and more sisters continue to sign up. A $50 deposit will secure your place on the train, but we won t know an exact group rate until August 2, 2015 (exactly a year prior to departure). If you are a participant, you ll be ed about the cost. The sign-up and deposit deadline is Aug. 1, When you make your deposit, you ll receive a payment coupon book, with your information printed on it, to use when making payments to your account. Gift certificates are available in whole dollar amounts ($5 minimum). To learn more please contact us by at BSP-KC-Train@att.net. We hope you join in the fun! 10 Beginning Beginning Day is always a time for celebration, as we reconnect with our sisters and look forward to a great year. Here are some of the ways Beta Sigma Phis kicked off the sorority year with style. Members and invited guests of Florida Xi Xi Tau, West Palm Beach, attended an afternoon tea held at the lovely Serenity Gardens Tea House. Everyone wore their finest for the special occasion! The tea included a delicious soup followed by an array of fabulous finger sandwiches, warm scones served with clotted cream, strawberry preserves and lemon curd. Lastly, everyone enjoyed custardfilled pastries, cake and petit fours. A Beginning Day celebration was also held at the home of Maryann Hedrick. Members enjoyed programs, games and wonderful food. With island music playing, Beginning Day for Texas Laureate Eta Beta, Hilltop Lakes, opened as the Executive Board, complete with grass skirts and island attire, danced into the lunchroom and wowed sisters with a line hula dance. Members enjoyed an island menu with appropriate music. Beautiful chapter yearbooks were distributed and sisters enjoyed seeing the fun events planned for the year. 10 August 2014 The Torch Alberta Preceptor Phi, Red Deer members gathered for Beginning Day at the home of Lenore Hamers for a Light Up Your Life Salad Night. A beautiful warm summer evening afforded the chapter some deck time to catch up on summer activities. Individual picture place cards were made from sparkly sunbursts, an idea inspired by the theme. Individual table favors of yellow rose journals and sweet treats were part of the table décor, along with yellow roses. It was fun sharing our summer activities over the exchange of unique packaged dinner napkins from many travel experiences.

Day The Florida Brooksville/Spring Hill City Council held Beginning Day festivities at a local clubhouse. A rousing night of Bunko and pizza was enjoyed by all of the chapters that attended - Florida Epsilon Epsilon Brooksville, Florida Xi Kappa Sigma, Spring Hill, and Preceptor Delta Iota, Brooksville. You can see from the photo just what fun these sisters had! One Canadian chapter found a bright way to light up Beginning Day. To celebrate the theme Light Up Your Life, Beta Sigma Phi sisters of Ontario Laureate Xi, Toronto, are shown here holding lanterns. Each lantern featured a theme logo and the photo of a sister. Each lantern had a lovely tealight in the base. The outdoor dinner table was decorated with the light from each lantern. Decorator lanterns were also hung around the patio to shed light upon the dinner and the evening s activities. Alabama Preceptor Delta, Montgomery, held their Beginning Day at the home of Jean Kyle. The sisters socialized, ate, had a regular business meeting, conducted two rituals, opened Secret Sister gifts, and socialized some more! The chapter had a wonderful day with all eleven members present. Pictured from left to right are Tommie Bartee, Doris Dease, Georgia Bennett, Gloria Poole, Lyn Burger, Martha Hosey-Ciccone, Jean Kyle, LaNette Clein, Kathleen Watson, Carol Paul and Dodie Blue. Wisconsin Preceptor Phi, Madison, now Sigma Master, had a great time celebrating Beginning Day weekend at the home Sharon Keppy in nearby Tomahawk, Wisconsin. There was lots of shopping, fun and all the good things that happen when sisters get together for a weekend in one house! August 2014 The Torch 11

Expand Your Expand Your By: Betsy Thomas, Assistant Editor Ref lections of the Past Last year we celebrated the theme Light Up Your Life, lighting the way for those that follow and spreading our torch throughout the world. Alabama Eta Omega, Mobile entertained their sister chapter Alabama Laureate Upsilon, Mobile with an evening of Dancing Lights Up Your Life! The room was decorated with bright colors and special favors for each sister Colorado Preceptor Beta Kappa, Rifle was asked to create centerpieces for each table at Founder s Day. In keeping with the theme Light Up Your Life chapter president Norma Miller came up with the idea of using lanterns with candles (later changed to tea lights). She did the legwork on finding eight lanterns, one for each table. She and another member painted three of them so that each lantern represented the colors of the rainbow. Per one members suggestion, a mirror under each lantern was added to provide that final touch. Barbara Kissell volunteered to create the card that would be attached to each lantern with black and yellow ribbons. The lanterns made perfect door prizes at the Founder s Day luncheon. Arkansas Mu Master, North Little Rock has it all together. Members hold degrees from pledge all the way to master and several will soon be eligible for Torchbearer. Many of these sisters have been together from three months of homemade salsa in jars topped with sombrero hats. The event started with cold drinks and getting to know each other a little better. Followed with a dinner of homemade tacos, chips and dip. One sister who never sat down and enjoyed all the dances was crowned queen with everyone taking home new friendships of sisters getting to know sisters. as pledges to over 50 years. These sisters light the way for those who follow them and are more than ready to expand the Beta Sigma Phi family tree! Growth of the Future This year s theme, Expand Your Beta Sigma Phi Family Tree, was derived from Our Beta Family Tree suggested by Patricia Wanta of Florida Laureate Gamma Alpha, Sarasota. Expand Your Family Tree is a call to build membership! In keeping with this idea the Austin City Council of Austin, Texas will be adding pictures throughout the year of new members, transferees, returning members-at-large, and pledges to the leaves of this decorative metal wall art tree (top of next page), supplied by this year s city council president Bobbi Torchia of Texas Preceptor Epsilon Omega, Austin. At the top of the tree it says Austin City Council ΒΣΦ Family Tree. Spread throughout the branches are the names of all the 12 August 2014 The Torch

Beta Sigma Phi Family Tree How to use this theme Stretch out those branches, ruffle those leaves and expand that imagination! chapters in council. They plan to use the tree at all council events and are offering it for loan to the chapters for any of their events, especially rush parties and rituals. What is a Family Tree and how do we expand that tree? From its roots to its trunk, from its trunk to its branches, a tree grows, it expands upward, it blossoms outward, it extends downward and flourishes within. Families are a lot like trees in that way, expanding in all directions, growing and stretching beyond the foundation. But families are not just blood relatives, they are the lives of those who help us to grow and guide us on our way through life. When you joined Beta Sigma Phi you pledged to follow the torch of learning, a flame of truth by which you are guided and whereby you guide others. To reach this flame of understanding we must keep the flame alive, for the flame is our life source, the foundation of our family tree upon which we grow and expand. How do we keep the flame alive? By passing the flame, for the flame of truth is sustained when its light is spread throughout the world. Let us strive to reach this flame of understanding, by following its guiding light of truth and sharing that truth to Expand Our Family Tree! Chart your family tree. Genealogy is the field by which one traces their family lineage through history. Check out this issue s featured program on genealogy to help you get started. But don t just trace your own families history, trace the lineage of your chapter. Research the archives of local newspapers for articles on your chapter, or maybe you already have your chapter s history. Then put together a display chart of your chapter family tree, tracing the lineage of your chapter all the way back to the charter members. It could make for an awesome display at events! Have a chapter family reunion. A family reunion can be a fun social event whereby you invite past members of your chapter like transferees and members-at-large to gather for a fun chapter family reunion. Play some games, reminisce about old times and catch up on one another s lives. This can also be a great time to invite those who have lost touch with Beta Sigma Phi to come back into the sisterhood, thereby helping to expand the Beta Sigma Phi family tree. Expand your chapter with new pledges. Invite new sisters into the family! Follow the example of the Austin City Council by getting your own tree in which to add photos of any new sisters you pledge. Extend those branches and add some new leaves. Give a gift that keeps on giving. Expand the family tree by encouraging legacies that are of age to join in the sisterhood. In many cultures ceremonies are held to mark the coming of age, the transition from childhood to adulthood. Along with this transition comes significant benefits. In Beta Sigma Phi the transition from legacy to member can be a significant benefit, whereby these once small buds may be nurtured in the spirit of immortal womanhood and sprout into their own, a full grown leaf, a steadfast, faithful and vibrant woman in pursuit of the high ideals of womanhood. Hold such a ceremony for legacies that are of age who wish to join in the sisterhood of Beta Sigma Phi. Make the ceremony uniquely about them and the transition they are making from young legacy to a Beta Sigma Phi woman! Expand the fun. Grow new relationships all while nurturing existing ones! Editor s note: Additional theme articles and ideas to come in the next issue. August 2014 The Torch 13

Featured Program This issue s featured program is about tracing one s family lineage. Here are some tips from Betsy Thomas, assistant editor of The Torch and president of the International Alpha chapter, that are sure to help you trace your family tree! PROGRAM INSERT #757: GENEALOGY Program Intro: Genealogy is the study of families and the tracing of family lineages through history, which is then often displayed in charts or written as a narrative. Preserving the past for future generations is a great motivator for tracing one s ancestry. The past can be a reflection of the future; knowing and understanding one s own past not only tells you where you come from, but also tells you, your place in history. One s identity may be defined by the question of where you come from, not only the individual people of which you are a descendent, but the culture and location you come from. The term family lineage or kinship typically refers to that web of social relationships of people related both by descent and by marriage. The individuals who study families and trace family lineages are called Genealogists, of which there are two basic types. The first type are individuals who trace their own lineage and that of their spouse, they are referred to as hobbyist genealogists. The second basic type are called professional genealogists. Professional genealogists may do research for others, teach, publish books on the subject, even produce their own databases that assist hobbyists. Genealogists typically begin with the present and work their way backward using oral interviews, historical records, genetic analysis, and other records to obtain family history and demonstrate kinship. Program Overview: Program material begins with climbing a tree and enjoying the view. The importance of accurate and carefully recorded findings in a permanent place is stressed. By recording your findings in a permanent place you ensure that your findings can be enjoyed by your family, long after you are gone and have become their ancestor. The rest of the program contains some beginning steps to follow when creating your family tree, like how to get started and where to go to get information. To access the program, visit and click on the Already a Member! tab. Go to the More Members Only tab, then select Program Outlines and log in with your member number and address. Then Select Program by choosing program number 757 and click on the PDF to view and print. If, like many sisters, you re not computer-savvy, you can ask a member of your chapter to help out. If all else fails, call The Torch at and we ll mail you a hard copy of the program. Take action and include a personal touch to your program with these great tips. Share Your Family Tree Get your sisters involved in the program by asking them to share a fun or historical family story. Perhaps ask your sisters to come with old family photos to share along with one or two tidbits about their family. You might discover that a fellow sister is a descendant of royalty or comes from a carney family or some infamous theatrical family. The important thing is to connect your audience with the topic. Chart Your Family Tree A fun way to get your sisters involved would be to provide a very basic family tree chart in which each sister can chart her own families history, starting with themselves and working their way backward, from their parents to their grandparents and so forth. This can be a fun activity that will harvest your sisters memories and get them started in documenting their own family history. Decorate the Family Tree When preparing your program, include visual elements that will enhance your program presentation. Showcase different family tree charts that may be used to chart one s family history. Use a poster board or Powerpoint to outline main points of your presentation. You may wish to use tree and leafy imagery to decorate your poster board or the pages of your power point to help visually stimulate your listeners and draw them into the topic. For example, make your headings tree branches with each title its own leaf. August 2014 The Torch 15

20142 Poetry Contest First Place Bloom Where You Are Planted by: Enda Faye Williams Second Missouri Laureate Delta Omicron, Kennett 1 2 I took a walk in the woods today, I saw the birds and squirrels at play. It seemed they each were doing their thing. And all around was God s beautiful spring. Wild flowers were blooming, most everywhere, Scattered over the hillside, just here and there. They were purple, red, white, yellow and blue, God planted them there for all to view. Some grew beside the babbling creek, Some around rocks, their heads did peek. Some grew on firm ground, so straight and tall, Some were large and some were small. Some under bushes almost hidden from view, Each one as different as me and as you. They were lovely to look at, and smelled like perfume. And on the spot, just as planted, they were there in full bloom. Some had to struggle their freedom to gain, They got beaten down by the wind and the rain. They know the sun shines out, after the gloom, And where they were planted, they continue to bloom. There were dogwoods and red-buds and all kinds of trees, Their petals were all covered with honey bees. They each had their own little job to do, And to bloom where they were planted, they did that too. We could all take a lesson from those little plants. And forget all the excuses and all the I cant s. We all have a duty to give God a few hours, And to bloom where we re planted, like little wild flowers. We each have our own special calling to do, To teach, preach or sing, it s all up to you. You may use your gifts or just throw them away. You may bloom where you re planted or just rot away. 16 August 2014 The Torch Place Lighting Up Our Lives by: Judith Thornton Arkansas Laureate Beta Beta, Clarksville An invitation extended to join Beta Sigma Phi A sparkling warm reception Learning the traditions of the sorority An illuminating experience Forming friendships in the chapter A shining joy Sharing the happy time of one another s lives A radiant warmth Sad occasions also shared by sisters A steady beacon of support After many, many years united in sisterhood A luminous contentment The future which lies ahead in Beta Sigma Phi An eternal glow of friendship Third Place My Sisters by: H.
