1 TTC Catalog - Human Services (HUS) HUS Non Equivalent Human Services Credit Lec: 0 Lab: 0 Credit: * Indicates credit given for human services course work transferred from another college for which there is no equivalent course at TTC. *Hours vary depending on external course. - Introduction to Human Services This course covers an overview of the field of human services. Role responsibilities, problems, boundaries strategies of human services workers are included. - Personal Professional Development in Helping Professions This course provides students with the opportunity to gain a greater awareness of self through values, clarification activities, reflective writings, etc., to underst how attitudes, values beliefs impact both their personal professional lives. 1
2 HUS Orientation to Human Services Lec: 1.0 Lab: 0 Credit: 1.0 This course is a study of the regional human services curriculum, agencies in the service area, curriculum requirements career opportunities. HUS 209 HUS 220 HUS 230 HUS 235 with a minimum grade of C departmental approval HUS Alcohol Drug Abuse This course is a study of the etiology of alcohol drug abuse; various types of addictive substances; physical, mental social implications; programs in rehabilitation; preventive education. HUS Case Management This course covers accepted methods strategies for effectively assessing client needs; accessing necessary provider agencies; monitoring properly documenting service delivery client welfare. 2
3 HUS Diversity Issues in Human Services Practice This course is the study of cultural diversity, including critical analyses of gender ideologies systemic applications. Students will be afforded opportunities to engage in self-analysis will examine currently emerging cultural trends in human services education delivery. HUS Interviewing Techniques This course covers the development of skills necessary for interviews in various organizational settings. Students in human services will use these skills knowledge later in their supervised field placements. 3
4 HUS Counseling Techniques This course is a study of a variety of counseling techniques necessary to assist qualified therapists in a variety of therapeutic settings. Students will demonstrate procedures knowledge of basic counseling theories techniques related to human services. HUS 110 with a minimum grade of C HUS Group Dynamics This course is an examination of the theory practice of group dynamics. Emphasis is on the application of the value use of the group process in specialized settings related to human services. HUS Supervised Field Placement I Lec: 1.0 Lab: 9.0 Credit: 4.0 This course includes work experience assignments by students in selected human services agencies. HUS 110 with a minimum grade of C. 4
