The Owls have won four straight conference road games and have not lost a game away from Boca Raton in over a month (Jan. STAMP OF APPROVAL After only scoring once in double-figures during the first 21 games this season, Teri Stamps has tallied in double-figures for three straight games, capping it off with a career-high 21 points in last Wednesday s win over Louisiana. The sophomore also made a career-high five three-point field goals. A SENIOR IS WORTH 1,000 POINTS During last Wednesday s victory over Louisiana, both Brittany Bowe and Carla Stubbs surpassed the 1,000- point mark for their careers. The seniors became the 8th and 9th players in FAU Women s Basketball history to eclipse that milestone. ALL THE RAGE: The Ragin Cajuns proved to be a game opponent on Wednesday night in Boca Raton, pushing the Owls throughout the game. However, FAU was able to secure an victory, clinching their 3rd straight win and fifth in their last six games. For Louisiana, Mercedes Johnson had a career-night, scoring 39 points and made 16 field goals. The Owls were led by a balance scoring attack with all five starters in double-figures. ROAD WARRIORS Despite winning only seven games in their first three seasons in the Sun Belt, FAU has shown a road surge this season posting a 5-2 record in conference play away from Boca Raton. The Owls were 7-37 coming into play this season on the road in the conference since joining the Sun Belt prior to the season. FAU erased a 15-point deficit with 4:17 remaining but could not overcome Michelle Gonzalez s 10-point overtime outburst and fell to the Golden Panthers fore the first time since Jan. 5, MOBILE HOME After dropping four straight games in the Mitchell Center, the Owls finally put one in the win column in Mobile, defeating South Alabama on Wednesday night. FAU was able to shoot 55% in the second half (11-of-22) and held Shakira Nettles to only two points on 1-of-12 shooting. The junior torched FAU for 25 points in South Alabama s victory over the Owls back on Jan. 2. Page 2

The loss is the Owls first in Sun Belt play this season and drops FAU to 2-1 in decade opening games since the inception of the FAU Women s Basketball program. The Owls defeated UCF (1/3/00) and Concordia (NY) (1/5/90) in its previous two decade-opening games. BAYOU BLOWOUTS The Owls opened their 4th season in the Sun Belt Conference with a pair of double-digit road victories against New Orleans and Louisiana. FAU has never started 2-0 in Sun Belt play. Against the Privateers, the Owls played their best defensive game of the season, holding New Orleans to a season-low 30 points. Three days later, FAU shot a blistering 55% from the field in a victory over the Ragin Cajuns. KNIGHTED For the first time in school history, the Lady Owls have defeated UCF in consecutive games on the women s basketball hardwood. The Owls got out to a big lead and held on late for a victory over Central Florida on Saturday night in Boca Raton. Carla Stubbs led all scorers with 19 points and Erica Caldwell tallied a career-high 15 points. Caldwell is in her second season as a member of the Owls after transferring from Spartanburg JC after the season. RECORD BREAKERS FAU broke one record and tied another on 11/13 in the season opening victory over Webber International. The Owls broke the record for most three-pointers in a game with 14. The previous record was 12 and was achieved three previous times, most recently on 2/2/08 against Louisiana Lafayette. OFF TO A GOOD START FAU won its season opener for the first time since the season when the Owls defeated Bethune-Cookman This is the first time in the Chancellor Dugan era (11 seasons) that FAU has started the season 1-0. BOWE NAMED TO PRESEASON TEAM ALL SUN BELT Senior point guard Brittany Bowe was selected to Preseason All-Sun Belt Third Team. 4 FAU WOMEN S BASKETBALL GAME NOTES LAST TIME OUT FOR FAU Florida Atlantic 84, Louisiana-Lafayette 75 2/10/10 7:00 p.m. (ET) - FAU Arena MILESTONES HIGHLIGHT FAU WIN BOX SCORE BOCA RATON, FL (February 10, 2010) The Florida Atlantic University women s basketball team earned their third straight victory with a win over Louisiana on Wednesday night at FAU Arena. The win ensures the Owls of their highest win total since the campaign, a season that saw FAU compile 20 victories and clinch the program s first ever berth in the NCAA Tournament. Brittany Bowe and Carla Stubbs also had banner nights as the pair of seniors each surpassed the 1,000-point mark for their careers. Bowe and Stubbs become the eighth and ninth players in women s basketball history to achieve that plateau. It s always nice to get individual achievements, said Bowe. The most important thing about the game though is that we came away with the win. Bowe finished the game with 16 points and Stubbs chipped in with 15 to go along with a team-high eight rebounds. The Owls (13-11, 9-5) started slow in the game and fell behind 12-5 early in the first half. However a 17-4 run midway through the opening stanza gave the Owls a lead they would not surrender. FAU held a margin heading into halftime after Teri Stamps knocked down a three-point basket just before the buzzer sounded. Stamps had another stellar offensive performance with a careerhigh 21 points on 7-of-9 shooting. The sophomore also made a career-high five three-point field goals and added three assists. In the second half, the Ragin Cajuns (8-17, 3-10) were unable to string together defensive stops and the FAU offensive was clicking as all five starters scored in double figures. For Louisiana, Mercedes Johnson had the best game of her career and shredded the Owls defense for 39 points on 16-of-35 shooting. The point total easily surpasses Johnson s previous careerhigh of 22 and is the single-highest point total for any opposing player this season against FAU. The Owls will get a much deserved week off before returning to action next Wednesday night in Miami against FIU. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at U.S. Century Bank Arena. Page 4 COACH DUGAN POSTGAME QUOTES On Improving: We ve got to get back on the practice court, I m glad we have a week until our next game. We have to get better on defense and there are a lot of things we need to get better at. I can coach on a win, but we ve got to get better if we want to compete night in and night out. On Brittany Bowe and Carla Stubbs 1,000 points: It s a great accomplishment, I m so happy for those two. Carla and B-Bowe have been the pillars of our basketball program over the last four years. Both of those kids are on track to graduate and that s the main thing. I m very happy for them. On Teri Stamps and Lyrell Barfield Teri s teammates did a great job looking for her, she has been making some big shots for us. Lyrell had food poisoning and wasn t herself. But with her frame, she wasn t able to sustain her energy level.

12 FAU WOMEN S BASKETBALL GAME NOTES CHANCELLOR DUGAN Head Coach 11th season Overall Record ( at FAU) Eastern Kentucky University (BS, Physical Education, 82) On July 1, 1999, Chancellor Dugan became the third head coach in Florida Atlantic women's basketball history. Ten consecutive conference tournament berths later, she has overseen the Owls transition into the competitive Sun Belt conference. FAU showed considerable improvements in the regular season. The Owls doubled their overall win total from six wins in year ago to 12, and more than quadrupled their conference win total from two to nine. In the process, the Owls picked up their first-ever conference wins over ULM, North Texas, Arkansas State and Denver. They also defeated two teams that would later qualify for the NCAA Tournament, Conference USA tournament champ UCF on November 22, and Middle Tennessee on Feb. 21. The win over the then-no. 25 ranked Blue Raiders is the first time the Owls have picked up a win over a Top 25 team in Division I. Despite having an undermanned roster in , Dugan and the Owls were able to land some milestone victories in Sun Belt conference play. On Feb. 2, FAU held off Louisiana for their first ever conference road win. Later that month, the Owls defeated rival FIU to get their first win over the Golden Panthers since The season featured FAU move into the Sun Belt Conference. The Owls finished their opening campaign with a 6-25 record, but ended the regular season with two consecutive conference victories. Dugan earned her 100th win at Florida Atlantic with an victory over Akron on Nov. 17, She led FAU to the top in , guiding the program to its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1993 and first Atlantic Sun Conference Championship. Her squad went on the year - the best win total in 13 seasons - and recorded its best season in the A-Sun, going 16-4 and finishing second in the regular season. The Owls moved on to face SEC power Louisiana State University in the first round of the San Antonio Regional. FAU made its presence felt against the Tigers, holding the lead midway through the first half before losing to the eventual national semifinalist. Prior to Dugan's arrival, no FAU team had posted a winning record in A-Sun play. Dugan's success at FAU was no surprise based on her eight years as head coach at the University of Southern Indiana (USI). There, she became the school's winningest coach with 159 wins and a winning percentage of.685. Fan interest in women's basketball soared during her tenure, as USI finished in the top 10 for Division II attendance three-consecutive years and averaged a record 1,453 fans in The Louisville, KY, native graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 1982 with a bachelor's degree in physical education and received a master's degree from Morehead State University in While an undergraduate at EKU, Dugan was a three-year starter and finished her junior and senior seasons as the team's leading rebounder and second-leading scorer.
