It will mark just the third divisional game of the year for Arizona, who enters week 10 with a two-game lead over the Seahawks and 49ers. Arizona is coming off a convincing road win at Chicago, who was previously unbeaten at home. Against the 11 th ranked Bears defense, the Cards scored TDs on each of their first four drives and produced points on the first six straight. QB Kurt Warner rebounded from a 5-INT outing the week before to throw 5 TDs (tied career-best) with no INTs. Arizona s offensive line not only was outstanding protecting Warner (1 sack in 32 attempts) but also paved the way for a seasonhigh 182 rushing yards (77 from Tim Hightower and 72 from Beanie Wells). With the win at Chicago, the Cardinals improved to 4-0 on the road for their best road record since beginning the 82 season 4-0. Arizona s 5-3 record after 8 games is identical to last year s mark at this point. A win Sunday over Seattle would give the Cards their second straight season series sweep. The Seahawks improved to 3-5 with a home win over Detroit last Sunday. The Lions jumped out to a 17-0 first quarter lead but Seattle then scored 25 unanswered. QB Matt Hasselbeck threw for 329 yards and completed a franchiserecord with 39 passes to lead the comeback. After hosting Seattle, the Cards continue divisional play with a trip to St. Louis. Seattle is also on the road next week, facing Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings. A week after throwing 5 INTs vs. Carolina, he matched his career-high with 5 scoring strikes. Warner TD passes ended the first four AZ drives and a pair of Neil Rackers FGs gave AZ points on its first 6 straight possessions. Two of the TDs went to Larry Fitzgerald who had 123 yards on 9 catches stepping up in the absence of fellow wideout Anquan Boldin (inactive/ankle). Behind a solid overall effort from the AZ o-line, Tim Hightower (77 yards) and Beanie Wells (72 yards) helped the Cardinal run game roll up 131 yards in the first half and 182 for the game. With the win, AZ remained a perfect 4-0 on the road in 09 and upped its overall mark to 5-3. For the 5 th time in 8 games, the Cards scored a TD on their opening drive. This one was an 11- yard Fitzgerald reception that capped an 8-play, 81-yard opening series. A key play was a 23-yard completion to Steve Breaston on 3 rd -n-10, the first of 8 straight third down conversions to open the game. Also pivotal was the game s 4 th play when Bears DT Tommie Harris was ejected for slugging AZ guard Deuce Lutui. Chicago did answer Arizona s opening TD drive with one of its own. A 42- yard Jay Cutler to Devin Hester pass led to the 1 st of TE Greg Olson s 3 TD catches on the day. But with a mix of run and pass, the Cards built a 28-7 lead thanks to Warner TD passes on the next three drives 6 yards to TE Ben Patrick, 17 to Fitzgerald and 15 to TE Anthony Becht. In the final minute of the first half, Bears kicker Robbie Gould was lined up for a 48-yard FG try but Dominique Rodgers- Cromartie deflected it. Antrel Rolle caught the miss 8 yards deep in the end zone and returned it 59 yards to the CHI49 with 0:22 left. It was enough time for Warner to move the team into position for Neil Rackers 43-yard FG as the half expired that gave AZ a 31-7 halftime lead. The lead grew to 34-7 on a 30-yard Rackers FG midway thru the 3 rd that provided that quarter s only points. A 3-yard Olsen TD catch made it and on the next AZ series Matt Leinart replaced Warner. However a pick by CB Zackary Bowman led to another Olsen TD that made it a 13-point game with 9:04 to go and Warner went back in. The Cardinal lead remained 13 when Chicago took over at its own 17 with 6:41 left. But on that drive s 3 rd play, S Matt Ware INT d Cutler and returned it 18 yards to the 17. It set up the game s final score, Warner s 4-yard TD to Breaston. CARDINALS BEARS Team Qtr. 4 THE ROAD TO SUCCESS On the strength of their victory over the Bears in Chicago last week, the Cardinals have four consecutive road wins to open the season, something they have not accomplished since 1982 when they also opened the season 4-0 on the road. Below are a few more facts about the Cardinals road success: Arizona notched its fifth consecutive road win in the victory over the Bears (including the 2008 postseason). The last time the Cardinals won five consecutive road games was The 41 points scored by Arizona last week in Chicago were the most scored in a road game since 1998, when they defeated the Redskins in Washington on 11/22/98. That game against the Redskins also represents the only other time the Cardinals have scored 31 points in the first half, dating back to the 1970 NFL-AFL merger. With their victory over the Bears last week in Chicago, the Cardinals have now outscored their opponents in road games this season, for an average margin of victory of 16.3 points per game (30.8 points scored, 14.5 points allowed). The Cardinals have now won twice by at least 20 points this season on the road. The last time the Cardinals won two road games by at least 20 points in the same season was in 1984 (10/28 at Philadelphia, and 12/2 at New England, 33-10). The Cardinals win last week was their first in Chicago since The Cardinals 30.8 points per game average on the road in 09 is tied for the third-best total in the NFL. Arizona is tied with Minnesota and trails only Indianapolis (32.8 PPG) and New Orleans (40.3 PG). The win last week vs. Chicago guarantees the Cardinals their first non-losing record on the road since finishing 4-4 in The win against the Giants in week seven snapped an 11-game road losing streak to teams from the NFC East. The win over the Giants was the Cardinals first-ever road win on Sunday Night Football. The Cardinals (4-0), Colts (4-0), Saints (3-0) and Bengals (3-0) are the only teams in the NFL that are undefeated on the road. The Saints and Colts are undefeated overall. OFFENSIVE LINE KEYS BALANCE The Cardinals totaled 438 net yards of offense against the Bears last week, a season-high. Arizona displayed near perfect balance in racking up their yardage total. The Cards totaled 182 rushing yards on 31 attempts (5.9 avg.) for the day while the passing game added 256 yards on 32 attempts. That type of balance doesn t come without exceptional play by the offensive line. The line, consisting of starters Reggie Wells, Lyle Sendlein, Mike Gandy, Levi Brown and Deuce Lutui, played one of their best games of the season. Arizona s 131 rushing yards in the first half last week were more than they had totaled in a game this season and their 182 yards on the ground in the game represented the Cards highest single-game rushing total since running for 211 yards on 10/3/04 vs. New Orleans. The Cardinals totaled six runs of 10+ yards in the game. Beanie Wells had runs of 13 and 26 yards while Tim Hightower had runs of 13, 11 and 14 yards. Steve Breaston added a 25-yard gain on a reverse in the second quarter. In addition to leading the way for the Cardinals to rush for 182 yards, the Cardinals line also allowed just one sack in 32 pass attempts, improving the Cardinals record to 3-0 this season when allowing one sack or fewer in a game. It was a good game for them, head coach Ken Whisenhunt said of the offensive line following the game. I am pleased with the way they are playing together as a unit and how they are adjusting and handling the situations we are seeing. I am proud of the way they are playing as a group. The offensive line started their 24 th consecutive regular season contest together as a unit last week. With the NY Jets on the bye, that ties the Jets for the NFL s longest consecutive streak with the same five starters along the offensive line. Including the postseason, the line has had the same five starters for the last 28 consecutive games. NOTES FROM CHICAGO Tight Ends Chip In TDs Appearing in his 144 th consecutive game, the 10 th longest current games played streak in the NFL, TE Anthony Becht caught his first TD pass since 12/16/07 vs. Atlanta, as a member of the Buccaneers. Combined with his one-yard TD reception against the Panthers in week eight, TE Ben Patrick s six-yard TD reception in the first quarter last week gives him TD receptions in back-to-back weeks for the first time in his career. Including his TD reception in Super Bowl XLIII against the Steelers, Patrick now has a TD in three of his last five games played. Ware Gets INT Number One With the Bears trailing by 13 points with just under seven minutes remaining, S Matt Ware ended any chance at a Bears comeback when he stepped in front of a Jay Cutler pass for his first career INT. DRC Gives Cardinals Three After Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie blocked Robbie Gould s 48-yard FG attempt the in the second quarter, the Cardinals now have an NFL-high three blocked FGs on the season (Calais Campbell has two). The last time the Cardinals had at least three blocked FGs in a season was in 1995, when the team recorded four. The Cardinals are now 3-0 on the season in games they have blocked a FG. No Harm, No Foul The Cardinals were penalized just twice for 15 yards against the Bears, their lowest penalty and penalty yardage total of the season. Cards Hard To Beat In The 4 th Quarter With the win last week, the Cardinals improved to 5-0 on the season when leading after the third quarter. Under Whisenhunt, the Cardinals have a 17-1 record when leading after the third quarter. Cardinals vs. Seahawks 4 of 38

5 CARDS ON TOP NFC WEST AT A GLANCE The Cardinals are 1-1 in the NFC West so far this season and have a two-game lead in the division with a 5-3 record. The Cardinals resume NFC West play over the next two weeks as they host Seahawks on Sunday and travel to St. Louis next week to take on the Rams. The Cardinals loss to the 49ers in week one snapped a seven-game winning streak against NFC West opponents. Overall, the Cardinals are 8-1 over their last nine division games dating back to The Rams are the only NFC West team the Cardinals have yet to face this season. Under Whisenhunt, the Cardinals won their first division title since Cardinals vs. Seahawks 5 of 38

6 THE LAST MEETING CARDINALS 27, Seahawks 3 October 18, 2009 Qwest Field (67,588) In a pivotal NFC West battle, Arizona headed to hostile Qwest field to face a Seahawks team that had shut-out two of its first three home opponents, including a 41-0 blanking of Jacksonville the week before. But the Cardinals dominated throughout in what Ken Whisenhunt called the team s most complete effort on both sides of the ball. The convincing 27-3 win moved Arizona into a first-place tie with idle San Francisco atop the NFC West. Offensively Kurt Warner was again very sharp, completing his first 12 passes en route to a completion percentage of 78 and passer rating of Larry Fitzgerald matched a career-best with 13 catches and 100 yards with a TD. Defensively, AZ held Seattle to a franchise-low 14 rushing yards, sacked Matt Hasselbeck 5 times, and held the Seahawks to 3 plays or fewer on 8 of its 12 drives. Of Seattle s 128 total yards, 42 came on a fake punt in the 2 nd quarter that led to Seattle s only points of the afternoon. The Cards dominated from the get-go and had a 14-0 lead before the Seattle offense took the field. On the game s opening drive, AZ went 80 yards in 15 plays and chewed 10:42 off the clock thanks to a solid rushing attack and Warner s 9-9 passing. The final completion was a 2-yard TD pass to Fitzgerald. On the following kickoff, Neil Rackers pooched it perfectly between Seattle players and Greg Toler recovered at the SEA23. Three plays later, Tim Hightower ran it in from a yard out to give the visiting Cards a 14-0 lead. On the 3 rd play of the ensuing Seattle drive, Clark Haggans sacked Hasselbeck forcing a fumble that Bryan Robinson recovered at the SEA23 and led to a Neil Rackers FG with 13:38 to play in the half. At that point, the Cards led 17-0 and the Seahawks offense had the ball for just 0:43. Midway thru the 2 nd quarter, Seattle came up with its biggest play of the game when punter Jon Ryan executed a great fake and threw it down the middle to TE John Carlson for a 42-yard gain to the AZ20. That drive reached the AZ3 but on 3 rd down Kenny Iwebema s sack forced Seattle to settle for an Olindo Mare FG that made it The fake punt play would be the only time Seattle ventured into Arizona territory all afternoon. The Seahawks offense found the going just as tough in the 2 nd half. Steve Breaston s 36-yard punt return to the SEA41 gave the Cards great starting field position and he capped that drive with a leaping 16-yard TD that made it On the play, Warner reached 30,000 career passing yards and by doing so in just his 114 th career game matched Dan Marino as the fastest player in NFL history to hit the milestone. Late in the 4 th quarter, an Antrel Rolle INT off Hasselbeck set-up a 31-yard Rackers FG that accounted for the game s final points. CARDINALS SEAHAWKS Team Qtr. The three points scored by the Seahawks rank as the lowest point total for a Cardinals opponent since 10/10/99 when Arizona defeated the NY Giants The last time the Cardinals held an opponent to three points or fewer in a road game was on 11/17/74 in Philadelphia when the Cards defeated the Eagles The 24-point margin of victory was the largest in a road game since 10/5/80 when the Cards defeated the New Orleans Saints The Cardinals allowed just 14 yards rushing on 11 attempts (1.3 yard avg.) in the game. In holding Seattle to 14 yards rushing, the Cardinals defense held the Seahawks to their lowest rushing output in franchise history. Seattle s previous low was 20 yards on 12/4/88 vs. New England. In order, Seattle s rushing attempts went for 2, 5, -1, 2, -3, -1, 0, 4, 2, -1 and 5 yards. The Seahawks leading rusher was Julius Jones, who carried five times for five yards. The Cardinals held a 42:50 to 17:10 advantage in time of possession. QB Matt Hasselbeck was held to one of the worst statistical days of his career. His 32.5 passer rating and 34.5% completion rate were the second lowest of any start in his career. On 10/24/05 the Cards limited the Pro Bowl QB to an 18.1 passer rating and 34.1% completion percentage. His 3.86 yards/attempt also ranked as the second-lowest of his career in a start (2.54 vs. Philadelphia on 9/23/01). The Cardinals held the Seahawks to just 128 total net yards, marking the lowest yardage output by an opponent since holding the Dallas Cowboys to just 100 net yards on 10/14/90 in a 20-3 victory. The Seahawks tallied 42 of their yards (nearly one-third of their total yardage for the day) on a Jon Ryan pass to John Carlson on a fake punt in the second quarter. The Cardinals defense held the Seattle offense to just 38 yards of total offense in the second half. The Seahawks ran 27 plays in the second half for an average of 1.4 yards per play. Only seven of Seattle s 27 plays went for positive yards (3, 4, 26, 2, 4, 13, 5) while six went for negative yards or no gain (-3, -1, 0, -7, -7, -1) Seattle s offense crossed into Arizona territory just once in the game and it was following the 42-yard pick-up on the fake punt in the second quarter. Below is a breakdown of the Seahawks drives in last week s game by starting point and ending point. The Seahawks finished the game 0-for-11 on third down conversion attempts. The last time the Cardinals played in Seattle (26-20 win on 11/16/08), the Seahawks converted just 1-of-9 third down attempts. The Cardinals have allowed the Seahawks to convert just 1-of-20 third down attempts in the last two games at Qwest Field. The last time the Cardinals held an opponent without a successful third down conversion was 12/4/94 against Houston when the Oilers were 0-for-9 on third down attempts in the Cardinals win. Next week, the Cardinals travel to St. Louis for their first showdown against the Rams in The Cardinals are 4-0 against the Rams under Whisenhunt and are riding a five-game winning streak overall dating back to BUILDING A WINNER In 2008, the Cardinals clinched the NFC West, earned their first home playoff victory in 61 years and appeared in their first Super Bowl in franchise history. The talent on the Cardinals roster was the key to that Super Bowl run, and General Manager Rod Graves is the man responsible for assembling that roster and adding to it this past offseason in hopes of another trip to the postseason. The most significant tool used by Graves to assemble Arizona s roster has been the NFL Draft. Arizona currently has 28 players on the 53-man roster that were drafted by the Cardinals. Recent drafts have not only produced Pro Bowlers in Anquan Boldin, Larry Fitzgerald, Adrian Wilson, and Darnell Dockett but also scores of other full-time starters and contributors. Six of Arizona s 2009 draft picks are on the 53-man roster, five of which have received playing time and three who appeared in all eight games so far this season. The 2008 draft produced three current full-time starters in CB Dominique Rodgers- Cromartie, DE Calais Campbell and RB Tim Hightower. Graves has made it clear that the organization wants to identify a core group of players to build the team around and keep that core intact. Dating back to 2004, the Cardinals have re-signed eight players to contract extensions, including all four players drafted by the Cardinals that have made the Pro Bowl. Wilson (2004, 2009), Boldin (2005), Neil Rackers (2005), Kurt Warner (2006, 2009), Gerald Hayes (2006), Reggie Wells (2006), Dockett (2006) and Fitzgerald (2008) have all signed contract extensions. LB Karlos Dansby, a 2004 draft selection, has been designated the team s franchise player the last two seasons. Another area that has been instrumental in building the Cardinals is unrestricted free agency. Recent free agent pickups include Mike Gandy and a full-time starter at left tackle and Sean Morey, a special teams ace who was named to the Pro Bowl in Continuing the trend of signing free agents to bolster the roster and compete for starting spots, the Cardinals signed former Steelers cornerback Bryant McFadden and tight end Anthony Becht in 09. THE TURNOVER BATTLE The first eight games of the 2009 season have shown how crucial the turnovers battle is for the Cardinals. Last week in the Chicago, the Cardinals broke even in turnovers, with each team throwing an interception. The Cardinals INT of Jay Cutler in the fourth quarter sealed the Cards win and stopped a Bears comeback attempt. In the loss to Carolina in week eight, the Cards committing six turnovers compared to none for the Panthers. On the season, Arizona improved to 3-0 when breaking even in the turnover battle, while they are 2-0 when winning it and 0-3 when committing more turnovers than their opponents. The Cardinals have won the turnover battle twice this season which gives the Cardinals a 15-0 record in the regular season (18-0 including playoffs) under Whisenhunt. When the Cardinals lose the turnover battle, their record turns to 1-16 (1-17 including the playoffs) under Whisenhunt. Arizona is 6-2 when they break even. The Cardinals lone victory when they committed more turnovers than their opponent was last season s overtime victory over Dallas when they scored twice on special teams. TO Ratio Plus Minus Even Playoffs CARDS PULL IN HUGE TV RATINGS Through the first half of the 2009 regular season, the Cardinals continue to enjoy the largest local TV ratings increase in the NFL. Last Sunday s win at Chicago garnered a 20.8 overnight rating and 42 share on FOX 10 locally. As has been the case for all eight games in 09, the Cardinals telecast again ranked as the week s mostwatched television program in Phoenix. So far in 2009, Cardinals game broadcasts have averaged a 21.3 rating and 39 share while reaching an average of 397,000 homes. That is an increase of 37% over the same period last year and represents the largest percentage increase in the National Football League. LEADING IN BLOCKS The Cardinals have blocked an NFL-high three field goal attempts this season, two by 6-8 defensive end Calais Campbell and one by CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, his second in two seasons. Chi: Rodgers-Cromartie blocked a 48-yard FG attempt, which was caught by Antrel Rolle and returned 59 yards, setting up a Cardinals FG right before the half. 10/11 vs. Hou: Campbell blocked a 35-yard FG attempt by Texans kicker Kris Brown, his second blocked FG in three games. Jax: Campbell blocked a 38-yard FG attempt that would have cut the Cardinals lead to The blocked kick was recovered and returned 83 yards for a TD by Rolle. Cardinals vs. Seahawks 8 of 38

9 WARNER GOES FOR FIVE Kurt Warner matched a career-high with five TDs passes against the Bears last week. Below is a closer look at Warner s career performance. The only other regular season game in which Warner threw for five TDs came over 10 years ago, on 10/10/99 vs. San Francisco in his fourth career start. There were exactly 10 years and 29 days between five TD performances for Warner, the longest time between five TD games in NFL history. Warner also had five TD passes in a Rams postseason win vs. Minnesota on 1/16/00. With five passing TDs, Warner matched the most ever against the Bears and became the fifth QB ever to throw for five TDs against Chicago. Warner is the third Cardinals QB since 1965 to throw for four or more TDs in the first half of a game. The last player to do so was Neil Lomax, who threw for four TDs on 11/13/83 at Seattle. Warner finished one TD shy of the franchise record and became the first Cardinals QB to throw for at least five TD passes in a game since Charley Johnson threw six TD passes vs. New Orleans on 11/2/69. After throwing for five INTs in week eight vs. the Panthers, Warner became the first QB since Detroit QB Gary Danielson in 1978 to throw for five or more INTs in a game and throw five or more TD passes the following game. The Cardinals were also involved in Danielson s record. On 12/3/78, Danielson threw five INTs against the St. Louis Cardinals and returned the following week, on 12/9/78 vs. Minnesota, and threw five TD passes. 10 TWO SHY OF 200 With his performance last week, Kurt Warner passed Ken Stabler, Steve DeBerg, Joe Ferguson, Bobby Layne, Norm Snead, Ken Anderson on the all-time touchdown list and is now two TD passes shy of 200 for his career. With 198 career TD passes, Warner sits in 30 th place on the NFL all-time list. Warner will begin climbing the career TD list faster now that he is approaching 200 career passing TDs. Next in line for Warner to surpass are Phil Simms (199) and Roman Gabriel (201). His current consecutive starts streak sits at 39 games. Warner was one of 16 NFL quarterbacks to start every regular season contest in 08 but the only one to start as many as 20 total games. In fact, he was just the third QB in NFL history to start 20 total games in a season, joining John Elway ( 97 Broncos) and Eli Manning ( 07 Giants). Among active QBs, Warner s 39-game starts streak ranks seventh behind Brett Favre (299), Peyton Manning (199), Eli Manning (87), Drew Brees (75), Philip Rivers (60) and Jay Cutler (45). By extension, it was fueled by the offensive line s outstanding protection of Warner. According to Stats Inc, Arizona was the most heavily pressured team in the NFL during the 2008 regular season, facing a blitz on 218 of their 630 pass attempts. The pressure has been on Warner again this season and last week in Chicago, the Bears managed just one sack of Warner despite his 32 pass attempts. 12 KURT S CANTON CREDENTIALS In the minds of many, Kurt Warner s performance as a Cardinal combined with his earlier success with the Rams has secured him a spot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. For those that may need convincing, perhaps the best case can be made by comparing Warner s career to those QBs already enshrined in Canton, particularly the 14 quarterbacks that have been selected in the last quarter century. When judging Kurt s career against those 14, the biggest difference is career games 117 for Warner vs. an average of 186 for the others. Given the late start to Kurt s NFL career and the twists it s taken throughout, that game played disparity is unsurprising. However, that s the only category in which Kurt trails that elite group. None of the 14 has a higher career completion percentage, yards per attempt average or yards per game figure. Warner s 93.3 career passer rating is second only to Steve Young and just Dan Marino has more career 300-yard passing games than Warner. Despite disparity in games played, Warner s career totals in completions and yards are already more than five of those HOF quarterbacks and his TD total (198) is more than four members of the group. Of the 10 QBs to start 3-or-more Super Bowls, eight are in the Hall of Fame already and the other two (Warner & Tom Brady) will be.
