AT STAKE A UT win over LSU would clinch the SEC Championship for the Lady Vols. A loss would force Tennessee to win the final two regular season games at Arkansas and versus #12/13-ranked Vanderbilt. The Lady Vols last win at LSU was in THE ON THE LADY TIGERS In the final tune-up before facing Tennessee, #7-ranked LSU (23-4, 9-2 SEC) used a 24-0 run in the second half to pull away from Arkansas in an win on Feb. 15 in Fayetteville. With the score tied with 10:30 left in the contest, LSU shut down UA (18-9, 3-8 SEC) for the next five minutes and went on a 24-0 run to take a lead, the largest of the game. Sylvia Fowles sparked LSU with with 23 points and 20 rebounds of her points came in the second half, including six during the run. Quianna Chaney added 21 points in the victory, including 10 in the run the broke the game open. Erica White tossed in 15 points and added eight rebounds and seven assists. A topsy-turvy opening, LSU led at the half while Arkansas led with 11:24 left in the first half. The Lady Tigers took the lead on a three-pointer by Chaney with 3:35 left in the half and closed out the first 20 minutes on a 7-3 run. The Lady Tigers then opened the second half on an 8-2 run to take a lead, but Arkansas chipped away to tie the score at with 11:50 left in the game.

Little Rock, Ark. The Lady Vols (28-4) won their 12th SEC tournament title and second in a row. They beat a top-seeded LSU team in the 2005 finals as well, During the regular season, LSU became the first SEC team to win at Tennessee in 10 years, edging the Lady Vols on Feb. 9, In the first meeting, LSU superstar Seimone Augustus scored 32 points in the win. In the SEC finals, UT limited her to 24 points. The Lady Tigers (27-3) led with less than a minute remaining, but UT senior Shanna Zolman's 3-pointer with 35.5 seconds to play cut Tennessee's deficit to one. LSU s Erica White missed the front end of a 1- and-1 with 33 seconds left, giving the Lady Vols a chance to take the lead. Tennessee chose not to call time out or hold for the last shot. Instead, the 6-4 Parker, the SEC freshman of the year, took the ball near the top of the key on an isolation play and drove to the left against the Tigers best defender - Scholanda Hoston to toss in the game winner. UT junior Sidney Spencer scored 21 points and Parker, the tournament's most valuable player, finished with 20 for the Lady Vols. Zolman added 14. Sylvia Fowles added 16 points, 12 rebounds and seven blocks for LSU. Fowles made her first four shots and had 12 points, six rebounds and six blocks in the first half. But Tennessee went on an 11-0 run late in the half and led at the break. Spencer made all four of her 3-point attempts before the break. Fowles and Augustus combined to score LSU's first 16 points but went scoreless for the last 8:12 before halftime. LSU led with 8:23 remaining, but Tennessee called time and went on a 10-0 run capped by Zolman's 3-pointer. Tennessee went 10-of-19 from 3- point range - Spencer made five and Zolman four. UT held a rebounding advantage in the game and finished with a advantage on the boards for the three-game weekend. FACING THE RANKED Tennessee faced their 11th ranked opponent of the season in the win over #9/14-ranked Georgia on Feb. 5. UT is 9-2 in games versus ranked teams out of 26 total contests. Meanwhile Louisiana State will be taking on their seventh ranked opponent in 28 games when they face #3 Tennessee. LSU is 3-3 vs. ranked teams: LSU defeated (then) #5 Ohio State75-51, #18 Michigan State,65-50, and #15 Georgia, The Lady Tigers lost to #15 Baylor, 64-60, #14 Georgia, and #5 Connecticut, Tennessee will be the highest ranked team the Lady Tigers have played this season.

4 2006 REGULAR SEASON MEETING VERSUS LSU The LSU Lady Tigers became the first SEC team to win at Tennessee in nearly 10 years with a victory Feb. 9, 2006 and moved closer to winning a second straight regular season league title. Seimone Augustus scored 32 points, Scholanda Hoston added 18 and Sylvia Fowles had 10 points and 15 rebounds for LSU (21-1, 9-0). The fifthranked Lady Vols (21-3, 7-2) had not lost a league game in Thompson-Boling Arena since a loss to Georgia on Dec. 8, 1996, a span of 64 games. LSU was 0-16 in Knoxville. "It's not a time for us to be feeling sorry for ourselves. We did a lot of good things, particularly in the second half. We have to get back tomorrow and keep things pointed in the right direction as a basketball team," commented Lady Vol coach Pat Summitt. Tennessee needed to beat LSU to get back into the conference race. The Lady Vols have lost two league games for the first time since when they were 8-4. The Lady Tigers became only the third SEC team and eighth team overall to win in Knoxville, joining Duke, Connecticut, Louisiana Tech, Georgia, Texas, Stanford and Auburn. It was Tennessee's 15th loss in the arena which opened in the season. The Lady Vols' first two losses this season came in consecutive games at Duke and at Kentucky. Against LSU, Lady Vol senior guard Shanna Zolman scored her 1,500th career point in the loss. LSU got off to a big lead early, going up 11-1 in the opening minutes. The Lady Tigers led by as many as 13 in the first half before taking a six point lead into the break. The Lady Vols were ahead with 2:19 remaining, before Augustus gave LSU the lead for good. Hoston pushed it to with another basket, and rookie sensation Candace Parker pulled Tennessee within one with 46.8 seconds to go. Fowles got open on the next possession and scored easily with 20 seconds left for the final margin. Tennessee's Dominique Redding had a shot blocked in the final seconds, and Parker fouled Augustus on the rebound. Augustus missed both free throws with 6.2 remaining to give the Lady Vols some hope. Zolman dribbled up the court and passed the ball as she was falling down to Redding, who couldn't get off a shot. Parker led the Lady Vols with 23 points. Tye'sha Fluker had 14 and Hornbuckle added 11. Zolman was just 2-for-11 from the field. LSU owned the rebounding margin, HOW COACH POKEY FARED AS A PLAYER VS. TENNESSEE Everyone knows how feisty and intense LSU Coach Pokey Chatman is on the sidelines which begged the question how did she do as a player against the Lady Vols? Going into her final game against UT as a senior in 1991, then Dana Pokey Chatman was 0-4 against the Lady Vols during her LSU career. Chatman exacted her revenge in her final game against UT pouring in 30 points in the 1991 SEC Championship game as LSU won Current Lady Vol assistant coach Nikki Caldwell was a rookie for UT on the 1991 team and went 0-6 from behind the arc in 20 minutes of action in the SEC title game. Caldwell would enjoy the final gotcha of the 1991 campaign the rookie went on to help Tennessee win the 1991 NCAA Final Four in New Orleans, La., just 15 miles from Chatman s hometown of Ama, La. LSU SERIES TIDBITS Since 2000, UT has won 10 of the last 14 meetings with LSU. Tennessee s four losses during that time? In the 2005 regular season meeting in Baton Rouge, 68-58, the 2006 regular season meeting in Knoxville, 72-69, and twice in the SEC Tournament Mar. 2, 2002, LSU and Mar. 9, 2003, LSU LATELY, KEEP RUNNING INTO LSU IN THE POSTSEASON Since 2002, Tennessee and LSU have faced each other every year in post-season action. In 2002 and 2003, a lower ranked LSU team defeated the Lady Vols in the SEC Tournament. UT was ranked #3 in 2002 when an unranked LSU team upset the Lady Vols, In 2003, UT was once again ranked #3 when #6-ranked LSU won convincingly, UT and LSU dodged each other in the 2004 SEC Tournament but met in the Final Four semifinals in Atlanta. The #2-ranked Lady Vols defeated the #19-ranked Lady Tigers, Tennessee has won the last two SEC Tournament title meetings with LSU. In 2005, #5-ranked Tennessee upset #1 LSU, In 2006, #8-ranked UT s Candace Parker hit the game winner over #3-ranked LSU, UT-LSU, CLOSENESS COUNTS Twenty-five of the 43 all-time meetings between the two schools have been decided by 10 or less points. UT S FIRST HOME GAME WITH 10,000 IN THE STANDS WAS VS. LSU On a bitter cold night on Feb. 6, 1978, 10,000 fans braved the frigid weather to heat-up Stokely Athletics Center in Knoxville, Tenn., when #1 LSU and #3 Tennessee faced off in an SEC women s basketball game. The Lady Vols prevailed as the throng of 10,000 chanted We re Number One. It marked the first time that 10,000 fans had ever attended a Lady Vol game. STUFF THE RIVALRY IS MADE OF On Jan. 29, 1979, the Tennessee Vols and the Lady Vols were in Baton Rouge at the PMAC, for a double-header with LSU. The women played first and the game ended in a tie. Then-LSU men s coach Dale Brown suggested that the women s teams finish their overtime in the auxiliary gym so the men could get their game started on time. After much bantering back and forth with then-lsu BenGals skipper Jinks Coleman and UT s Pat Head, Brown allowed the women s teams to finish the overtime with a shortened running clock. The Lady Vols managed just six points in the three-minute overtime while LSU scored 11 to win, Five days later in Stokely Athletics Center in Knoxville, on Jan. 29, #7 UT thumped #17 LSU, Current Lady Vol Assistant Coach Holly Warlick was UT s junior point guard that night in Baton Rouge Warlick tallied seven points, grabbed eight rebounds, dished four assists and had nine steals in a weird 43 minutes. I M AN LSU GRAD BUT MY PAYCHECK HAS ORANGE INK UT Women s Athletics Director Joan Cowart Cronan was a 1966 graduate of Louisiana State University and a native of Opelousas, La. Cronan has been onboard as the Women s Athletics Director at the University of Tennessee since 1983 and was a 1995 inductee into the LSU s Alumni Hall of Distinction. UPCOMING OPPONENT ARKANSAS Before entertaining the Lady Vols in Fayetteville on Feb. 22, the Arkansas Lady Razorbacks traveled to face the Kentucky Wildcats in Lexington on Feb. 18. In their last contest, rookie Donica Cosby scored 15 points to lead Arkansas but the double-digit effort was not enough as the Lady Backs fell to the #7-ranked LSU Tigers at Bud Walton Arena on Feb. 15, The loss dropped the Lady Razorbacks to 18-9 on the year and 3-8 in SEC action while LSU improved to 23-4 overall and 9-2 in league play. Arkansas enjoyed as much as a five point lead in the opening stanza controlling the tempo and the cold-shooting Tigers managed just 27 percent from the floor in the first 10 minutes of play. UA led at the 11:22 mark. LSU rallied and scored the final four points of the half to take a lead into the break. The score was knotted at 44-all with 11:50 to go before LSU went on a 24-0 run. That was the ballgame as Arkansas could never get back on track. Besides Cosby s 15 points, the Lady Backs placed two others in double figures. Rookie post Lauren Ervin scored 11 and Sarah Pfeifer, 10 in the loss. LSU s Sylvia Fowles hit a game high 23 points and grabbed 20 rebounds for the Tigers.

The first Associated Press poll released of the season marked the 500th all-time poll. Since the poll was started in 1976, UT has failed to appear in just 14 of the total of 532 polls through the years. Currently, UT has been ranked in 390 consecutive polls. Since the season, the Lady Vols have been in the top 10 for all but one poll. UT is the only team to have been ranked every year for the last 31 years of the poll. FROM THE TRAINING ROOM Tennessee finished the game with Ole Miss on Feb. 15 with just eight players. Rookie point guard Cait McMahan left the game after taking a hard fall on her left elbow and sophomore forward Alex Fuller went to the bench after she took a shot to her previously injured right eye. Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine, Jenny Moshak, announced Fri. Feb. 16 Fuller will practice and play as her right eye allows. Fuller took stitches to the area of the eye on Jan. 25 versus Vanderbilt. X-rays determined that McMahan had not sustained a fracture and a MRI revealed no structural damage to her left elbow. Moshak will treat McMahan s elbow symptomatically on a day-to-day basis. UT S CIRCUS ACT GOING TO LSU The Tennessee Lady Vols continues to have the circus coming to town effect on away attendance. Remarkably, all 15 away games have produced some kind of attendance mark. Tennessee s appearance produced the largest attendance mark of the season (all venues) for Arizona State, Louisiana Tech, Old Dominion, Connecticut; the largest mark at home for North Carolina (tie), Texas, Florida, Vanderbilt, Auburn, and the largest home and away crowds for both Alabama and Georgia. SCORING FIELD DAY FOR SEC FOES In UT s first eight SEC games of the season, no Lady Vol opponent had scored more than 58 points on Tennessee. Actually, winless Florida managed 58 points against Tennessee in the second conference game of the season on Jan. 11. In the initial eight games SEC foes scored 36 points (Alabama1 and South Carolina), 41 points (Georgia1), 44 points (Mississippi St.), 51 points (Alabama2), 57 points (Vanderbilt1 and Georgia2) and 58 by Florida. In games one-eight, UT averaged 71.1 ppg while giving up just 47.5 ppg in SEC games (+23.6 winning margin). In the last three games, SEC opponents have averaged 64.3 ppg. Auburn started the floodgate on Feb. 8 scoring 62 points, Kentucky followed in the next game with 62 points and Ole Miss tallied 69 points in the most recent contest to be the SEC leader in the clubhouse against UT. During the same time, UT has increased its scoring average to 79.0 ppg for a 14.7 ppg winning margin. ONLY FOUR IN THE 70 S Only four teams have managed to score 70 points (or more) against Tennessee this season. Arizona State and Duke both scored a season high 74 points against the Lady Vols. Chattanooga scored 72 points and North Carolina tallied 70 against Tennessee. FYI ON PARKER Just to clear things up Redshirt sophomore All-American Candace Parker is on track to graduate with honors from Tennessee in December 2007 during her junior season. Since Parker sat out her original rookie year, she could choose to play for Tennessee in the season while working on her masters or she has the option of playing in the WNBA since her original class would have graduated. LEX HAS NATION S BEST STREAK Lady Vol junior guard Alexis Hornbuckle has a streak of 62 consecutive games with at least one steal. A leading candidate for Defensive Player of the Year, Hornbuckle averages 3.3 steals per game. She started the season with a career high seven steals against Chattanooga. Hornbuckle has 85 steals on the season to date and will easily surpass her total of 91 thefts. WENT OVER 200,000 AT HOME Tennessee broke the 200,000 home attendance mark for the 10th time in the game against Ole Miss on Feb.15. A nation leading 210,594 have clicked thru the turnstiles in 15 home games. The Lady Vols home attendance eclipsed 180K against Georgia with 13,475 in the stands. This already marks the Lady Vols 11th consecutive season going over 150,000 at home. VANDY TIX GOING FAST Tennessee s final home game of the season against Vanderbilt on Feb. 25, may become a sell-out. To date, 20,210 tickets have been sold for Senior Day. Gates for the 1:00 p.m. tip-off will open 30 minutes earlier at 11:30 a.m.

7 UT OUTLASTS FIESTY OLE MISS On Feb. 15, the Tennessee Lady Vols quickly saw why Ole Miss was able to defeat both LSU and Vanderbilt. The Rebs were just plain aggravating on defense playing gnat-like and covering every inch of the floor. Offensively, Mississippi scored 69 points on the Lady Vols the most of any SEC team to date. UT s five-point halftime lead over Ole Miss was UT s smallest margin over an SEC opponent this season. The victory marked the 24-win plateau for the 27th time in Pat Summitt s career and the 21st time in a row. The win also gave UT at least 11 SEC wins in a season for the 12th time. Individually, Candace Parker scored her 1,100th career point scored in double figures for the 24th time this season and the 57th time of her career...scored 20+ points for the 12th time this season and the 23rd time in her career earned a double-double for the 14th time this season and the 24th time in her career and recorded a career-high-tying seven assists; Shannon Bobbitt Scored in double figures for the seventh time this season and the second game in a row set a career high with 14 field-goal attempts; Alexis Hornbuckle extended her streak of games with a steal to she now has at least one steal in 83 of 90 career games moved past Pat Hatmaker and into 15th place in the UT record books for career assists (332) reached double figures for the 13th time this season and the 45th time of her career and scored all 12 of her points in the second half. PARKER S A FOUL MAGNET Lady Vol sophomore All-American Candace Parker has been a foul magnet in With all of the double and triple-teaming she has seen this season, almost one-third of the opponent s 477 total fouls have been inflicted on her. In 25 games this season, Parker has drawn 149 fouls. In the game against Vanderbilt, she was fouled a dozen times by the Commodores (out of 22 total team fouls). Previously against Notre Dame, she was fouled 10 times by the Irish, eclipsing nine fouls whistled against players from Arizona State, Stanford and North Carolina. To date, Parker has visited the charity stripe 166 times this season about six times a game. Against UConn, seven of the Huskies total of 13 fouls came while trying to stop Parker. SEC PLAYER OF THE WEEK This week, Lady Vol All-American Candace Parker was selected as the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week (Feb. 5-11). She earned the award for the fourth time this season and the fifth time in her career. In three games last week, Parker averaged 26.0 points and 10.3 rebounds per contest. She shot a sizzling 62 percent from the field and went 22 of 25 from the line for an 88 percent clip. The Naperville, Ill., native earned double-doubles against Georgia and Auburn to up her total to 13 on the season. On Feb. 8 versus Auburn, she eclipsed the 500-rebound plateau to join former Lady Vol four-time Kodak All-Americans Chamique Holdsclaw and Tamika Catchings as the only three UT players to amass 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 100 blocks. She dropped in 31 points against the Kentucky Wildcats it was her second most of the season and marked the third most prolific scoring game of her career. She owns four 30+ points games. Parker was also named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV first team during the week, which makes her eligible for Academic All-America later in the season. KEEP THE SEC MAGIC GOING In 11 SEC games this season, the Tennessee Lady Vols have forced their conference foes into 25.7 turnovers per outing It has resulted in a total of 287 points scored off of turnovers for the Lady Vols against SEC teams or an average of 26.0 ppg. So for every turnover an SEC team has committed against UT, the Lady Vols have scored a point. UNDEFEATED SEC SEASONS All-time, Tennessee has turned in seven undefeated league seasons in SEC play. The team was the last to run the SEC table with a 14-0 record. 10 CONSECUTIVE YEARS OF AT LEAST 10 SEC WINS With the win over Kentucky on Feb. 11, 2007, it marked the 10th SEC win of the season and was the 10th consecutive year of at least 10 SEC victories and 14th overall. The Lady Vols have registered double-digit victories in conference play an incredible 14 times. Since the season when SEC play expanded, the Lady Vols have won at least 10 games in the following years: wins, wins, wins, wins, wins, wins, wins, wins, wins, wins, wins, wins, wins and wins with three games to go. GOTTA BRING UP THE BOARDS Or, lack thereof. The Lady Vols have been outrebounded in 11 games this season. When Kentucky pulled off the +16 rebounding advantage (40-24) on Feb. 11, 2007, it was a season worst for UT. Granted, Tennessee shot 53.2 percent for the game but it was a huge disparity as the Wildcats grabbed 16 offensive and 24 defensive caroms. Until that game, the Lady Vols had been on a four-game streak of outrebounding the opposition. Only two other teams produced a double-digit differential on the boards this season against UT North Carolina and UT-Chattanooga (+10). The Lady Vols shot 36% against UNC and 58% against UTC. FACING THE UNRANKED When taking on an unranked opponent such as Mississippi, the odds have typically tipped in Tennessee s favor. In her 33 years at the helm of the Lady Vols, UT head coach Pat Summitt has fashioned a (.947) record when going up against unranked teams. TENNESSEE ALLOWING JUST 52.1 PPG IN SEC GAMES The Tennessee Lady Vols have fashioned some pretty serious stats in SEC play this season. Defensively, the Lady Vols have been stingy very stingy. Incredibly, when Auburn and Kentucky scored 62 points and Ole Miss 69 points against Tennessee in the Lady Vols three most recent games, it marked the most points UT has allowed by an SEC opponent this season. Currently, Tennessee is holding SEC opponents to just 52.1 ppg while scoring 73.3 or a differential. TAMED THE WILDCATS After enduring the miserable loss at Kentucky last season, Tennessee took care of business on Feb. 11, 2007 with an drubbing of UK. Kentucky, however, completely controlled the glass and registered a +16 advantage over Tennessee on the boards (40-24). The win gives the Lady Vols 10 or more SEC wins for the 10th consecutive season and 14th overall. The 1987 Lady Vol National Championship team was honored before tip-off of the Kentucky game. The ceremonies marked the 20th anniversary of UT s first NCAA basketball title in All 14 of the former players were in attendance. Interesting in game note-- With her second free throw at the 1:40 mark in the first half, Candace Parker scored her 22nd point of the game, one more than Kentucky team had at that point in the game (21 points). UT s first half field goal percentage (.576) was its highest since shooting 63.6 percent against MTSU on Nov. 26, Kentucky s 62 points tie the most by an SEC opponent this season (with Auburn). Individually, Alexis Hornbuckle Extended her streak of games with a steal to 61. She now has at least one steal in 82 of 89 career games. Hornbuckle moved past Michelle Marciniak and into ninth place in the UT record books for career thefts (240). UT s best rebounding guard didn t get a rebound against the Wildcats, marking the first no-rebound game of her career. Her previous low was one board, which she has grabbed twice in her career; Sidney Spencer Moved past Tamika Catchings and into seventh place in the UT record books for career three-pointers (123). Spencer moved into a tie with Tasha Butts for eighth place in the UT record books for career three-point attempts (290); Candace Parker Scored in double figures for the 23rd time this season and the 56th time in her career. She surpassed 20 points for the 11th time this season and the 22nd time in her career. Produced the second highest scoring game of her career and reached 30 points in a game for the third time this season and the fourth time of her career and Shannon Bobbitt moved into fifth place in the UT record books for career three-point percentage (.410)

A total of 57 former players and more than 150 family members were in attendance for Tennessee game versus Kentucky. On Sun., Feb. 11, the Lady Vols celebrated the 20th anniversary of the first NCAA Championship team the 1987 squad. All 14 members of the team were in attendance and were honored in pregame ceremonies of the UT-Kentucky game. They were dubbed The Corn- Fed Chicks by Long Beach State All- American Cindy Brown after the Lady Vols handled her team in the NCAA Final Four semis, The Chicks, er Lady Vols, went on to defeat Louisiana Tech, 67-44, in the NCAA title game in Austin, Texas. Coach Pat Summitt won her first national title in her eighth trip to the Final Four and in her 13th season of coaching. Remarkably, the 1987 team led Summitt to her 300th coaching victory. LADY VOLS EARN ACADEMIC KUDOS The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Feb. 8, 2007, that Lady Vols Candace Parker, Sidney Spencer and Nicky Anosike had been named to the CoSIDA District IV All- Academic Teams. Parker and Anosike were named to the first team, while Spencer picked up second team honors. Spencer and Anosike earned the award for the second straight year, while this was Parker s first opportunity. Parker earned a 3.65 GPA during the fall semester and boasts a 3.29 cumulative average. The 2006 Kodak All-American and sport management major leads the SEC in scoring and blocks. On Jan. 28 she became the fastest Lady Vol in program history to amass 1,000 career points. Spencer posted a perfect 4.0 in the fall and owns a 3.75 cumulative GPA. She is pursuing a degree in sport management and makes time to volunteer in the Knoxville community on a weekly basis. She ranks fourth in the NCAA in threepoint shooting percentage. Anosike is on pace to graduate in four years with a triple major in sociology and criminal justice, political science, and legal studies. She has a 3.76 cumulative GPA at UT, including a 4.0 mark during the 2006 fall term. She ranks second on this year s squad in rebounding and blocks and is a two-time member of the All-SEC Academic Team. The Academic All-America team will be announced on Feb. 27 and is selected from the All-District first teams in each of the eight districts. PARKER ECLIPSED 500 BOARDS Less than two weeks after scoring her 1,000th career point, sophomore All- American Candace Parker eclipsed the 500 rebound plateau versus Auburn. Grabbing 11 boards against the Tigers. DOUBLED-UP ALABAMA AND GEORGIA IN SEC PLAY The Lady Vols have picked up two wins over Alabama and Georgia this season. Tennessee has already picked up one win over Vanderbilt and will face the Commodores again on Feb. 25. WHEATIES HONORS LADY VOLS Wheaties unveiled its newest Breakfast of Champions box on Feb. 1, 2007, at halftime of the Tennessee-South Carolina game. The special-edition, 18- ounce Wheaties package, features the UT women s basketball program and coach Pat Summitt. The Tennessee package features an image of Thompson-Boling Arena, The Summitt, a prominent school logo and Coach Summitt on the front of the package. The back of the package showcases an image of Summitt as well as the school mascot. It is a great honor to be the first women s collegiate basketball coach to be featured on the front of a Wheaties box, said Summitt. This makes a tremendous statement, not only for me, the Lady Vols and the University of Tennessee, but for women s basketball in general. The Tennessee women s basketball team has left a distinctive mark in the world of college basketball by showcasing unparalleled performance, a competitive drive, a sense of pride, and dedication over the years, said Dan Stangler, Wheaties brand manager. PARKER -- FASTEST TO 1,000 In Tennessee s game versus Alabama on Jan. 28, 2007, Lady Vol sophomore All-American Candace Parker scored her 1,000th career point during the 56th game of her career, making her the fastest Lady Vol in history to amass 1,000 points. Former Lady Vol All- Americans Chamique Holdsclaw did it in 57 games and Tamika Catchings in 58 games. Parker is the 30th 1,000-point scorer at Tennessee.

9 STILL WORST REBOUNDERS UT Coach Pat Summitt s teams have always been noted for tough defense and board play. Kudos to the team for tough defensive play thus far holding the opposition to 56.2 ppg. However, the current squad needs to hang their collective heads in shame for being the worst rebounding team in Lady Vol history. Currently at 37.4 rebounds per game, this team has dipped below the squad who earned the worst moniker last season managing just 39.4 rpg in 36 games breaking a 28-year old record ( squad who managed just 39.7 rpg in 31 contests). She probably would have stayed with just one line-up (Candace Parker, Sidney Spencer, Nicky Anosike, Alexis Hornbuckle and Shannon Bobbitt) if junior college transfer Bobbitt hadn t missed the game at Louisiana Tech on Nov. 28 to take a test and Parker hadn t fallen ill prior to the Mississippi State game on Jan. 18. Rookie Cait McMahan started in place of Bobbitt for the La Tech game while Parker was replaced by Alex Fuller for the Miss. State contest. Using essentially one line-up is a far cry from previous seasons. Last year, Summitt employed seven different combinations with Candace Parker as the only common denominator in 36 games. RANKED Tennessee s game versus #13 Georgia on Feb. 16, 2006 was the Lady Vols 500th all-time versus a ranked team since the inception of the polls in UT is an amazing (.700) versus ranked teams. SUMMITT GETS 937TH WIN While Texas Tech s Bobby Knight finally reached 880 wins on the men s side, Lady Vol coach Pat Summitt recorded her 937th victory with a win over Kentucky on Feb Summitt recorded her 880th win, passing North Carolina s Dean Smith on Mar. 22, 2005 with a victory over Purdue in the NCAA Tournament. Summitt has registered 57 wins since then. Summitt is a season and a half of wins ahead of Coach Knight. TENNESSEE TOPS AP ALL-TIME The Tennessee Lady Vols are the topranked team in the history of the Top 25 rankings in the Associated Press poll. After Lady Vol coach Pat Summitt passed Dean Smith for most NCAA collegiate basketball wins of all-time with a win over Purdue on Mar. 22, 2005, UT named the TBA court, The Summitt. The Lady Vols defense in the second meeting was extremely intense with junior Alexis Hornbuckle leading the way. In two games against UT this season, Georgia averaged just 49.0 ppg. Individually, Alexis Hornbuckle Extended her streak of games with a steal to 59. She now has at least one steal in 80 of 87 career games. Against UGA2, she scored in double figures for the 11th time this season and the 43rd time in her career. With seven assists in the game, she moved into a tie for 16th place in the Lady Vol record books for career thefts (320); Candace Parker Scored in double figures for the 21st time this season and the 54th time of her career. Also, she earned her 12th doubledouble of the season and the 22nd of her career moving her into a tie for sixth place in the UT record books for career double-doubles and reserve Alex Fuller Scored in double figures for the sixth time this season MOATS ON MEDICAL STATUS University of Tennessee Lady Vol head coach Pat Summitt has announced that freshman Nicci Moats will remain on medical leave from the team for the remainder of the season. Nicci is a great young lady, and we re all very supportive of this decision, said Summitt. We re looking forward to having her back on the court next fall. Moats is a 6-2 rookie forward from Daleville, Va. After talking with the medical staff, I decided to take a leave from playing with the team for the remainder of the season so my focus can be on getting healthy and concentrating on my academics, said Moats. FAST START AGAINST USC In picking up win number 20 on the season, the Tennessee Lady Vols got off to a fast start against South Carolina. The opening minutes were reminiscent of Duke s crushing start against UT on Jan. 22. Fortunately for the Lady Vols, UT was making the run on the Gamecocks opening the game 16-0 in the first 9:22. South Carolina did not score until 10:12 was left in the first half on a layup by Melanie Johnson. The Gamecocks 11 first-half points were the fewest ever by an SEC opponent and tie for the fifth fewest ever by a UT foe. All 10 Lady Vols scored against USC. Individually, Alexis Hornbuckle Extended her streak of games with a steal to 58. She now has at least one steal in 79 of 86 career games. Lex also moved into tenth place in the UT record books for career steals (229) and eclipsed the 800- point plateau for her career; Candace Parker Earned her 11th double-double of the season and the 21st of her career, moving her into a tie for the eighth most by a Lady Vol in her career; Shannon Bobbitt Scored in double figures for the second straight game; Alberta Auguste Scored in double figures for the second straight game, her first back-toback double digit performance as a Lady Vol and Sidney Spencer Grabbed a career-high-tying nine rebounds DOUBLED UP BAMA Tennessee s victory at Alabama on Jan. 28 was the Lady Vols second win this season over the Crimson Tide. At 6-0, the Lady Vols are off to their best SEC start since the season. The win was Tennessee s 32nd consecutive over the Tide. UT s 29-point margin of victory was the largest on the road for the Lady Vols this season. Individually, Shannon Bobbitt Scored a career-high 20 points and drained six three-pointers, which ties the second most in a game by a Lady Vol; Candace Parker Scored her 1,000 th career point during the 56 th game of her career, making her the fastest Lady Vol in history to amass 1,000 tallies. Chamique Holdsclaw did so in 57 games. Parker is the 30 th 1,000-point scorer at UT. Saw her streak of 33 consecutive games in doubledigit scoring come to an end; Alexis Hornbuckle Extended her streak of games with a steal to 57. AVOIDED THE DUKE SWOON UT faced a tough #15/14-ranked Vanderbilt squad following the loss three days earlier to top-ranked Duke, This season, the Lady Vols avoided the Duke Swoon with a win. Last season, following the loss at #2-ranked Duke, the Tennessee Lady Vols went into a tailspin in their next game and lost at Kentucky, 66-63, three days later. It marked the first back-to-back defeats for the Lady Vols in nine years when the Lady Kats recorded the win in Rupp Arena. Against UK, Candace Parker was UT s only double-digit scorer tallying 25 points. Fellow starters Nicky Anosike and Sidney Spencer chipped in nine points each, while Tye Fluker added seven points and Alexis Hornbuckle just a single digit in the loss. Shanna Zolman, who came in off the bench, tallied nine points. GOT OFF THE MAT AT VANDERBILT The Tennessee Lady Vols recorded a tough win at #15/14 Vanderbilt on Jan. 25 despite enduring 10 lead changes and five ties. Had the Commodores been successful at converting points off of turnovers, the outcome might have been different. UT had 25 miscues (a season high) but Vanderbilt converted just 12 points. Conversely, UT tallied 29 points from 27 Vandy turnovers. The victory gives UT a six-game road winning streak this season. BATTLE SCARS Lady Vol sophomore Alex Fuller received four stitches over her eye when she hit the deck hard and slid on the hardwood at Vanderbilt. Fuller logged 17 minutes in the win at #15/14 Vanderbilt. BEFORE DUKE DEBACLE, UT TRAILED AT HOME FOR JUST SEVEN MINUTES Before trailing 39 minutes and 49 seconds versus Duke (UT was tied with the Blue Devils for 11 seconds), the Lady Vols had been tough at home. During the Lady Vols previous 10 home contests, they trailed their opponent on the scoreboard just seven times for a total of 7:02. Before Duke, Tennessee has been tied or ahead 97.8% of the time (3:12:58 of 400 minutes), including every second of play in the second half of each game. The largest deficit for UT was six points (13-7) against Middle Tennessee State on Nov. 26. Tennessee fell behind against UCLA (:10), Stanford (2:10), MTSU (4:18) and West Virginia (:24), but never trailed against Chattanooga, UT-Martin, George Washington, Notre Dame, Alabama or Mississippi State. JUST TOO MUCH DOOOK Duke etched their name in the Lady Vol record books holding Tennessee without a bucket for the first 5:58 to start the game. An 11-0 run out against Tennessee is recalled as the best opponent start, however, Duke s 19-0 beginning is now the best ever versus the Lady Vols. Tennessee fell into a 21-point hole (28-7 at 9:23 in the first half) before rallying to narrow the halftime deficit to 11 points (38-27). The 21-point deficit in the first half was the largest of the season for UT The Duke game marked the first time UT hadn t led in a game this season. Duke s Abby Waner made six three-pointers, tying for the fifth most by an opposing player in Lady Vol history. Duke recorded the highest field goal percentage of any team against the Lady Vols in the season,.491. Conversely, UT dipped to a season low.361 from the field. Free throw defense stymied Tennessee as the Lady Vols connected for just 8-17 (.471) and All- American Candace Parker was affected the most going just 1-7 from the charity stripe. In a positive vein, UT tied a seasonhigh with 10 three-pointers. Individually, Alexis Hornbuckle Extended her streak of games with a steal to 55. She now has at least one steal in 76 of 83 career games. She moved past Dena Head and into a tie with Sheila Frost for 12th place in the UT record books for career steals (219). She reached double figures for the ninth time this season and the 41st time in her career while scoring a career-high-tying 19 points; Candace Parker Reached double figures for the 18th time this season, the 32nd time in a row, and the 51st time of her career. With 22 points in the game, she scored 20+ points for the eighth time of the season and the 19th time of her career. With 10 rebounds, she earned her ninth double-double of the season and the 19th of her career. Parker s six blocks moved into a tie for fifth place with Teresa Geter in the UT record books for career blocks (138); Sidney Spencer Moved into fourth place in the UT record books for career free throw percentage (.829). Additionally, she scored in double figures for the 14th time this season, the 41st time in her career and Nicky Anosike With 10 rebounds, she grabbed doubledigit rebounds for the second straight

12 game, the third time of the season and the 12th time of her career. FACING NUMBER ONE Tennessee has faced the nation s topranked team 42 times in games dating back to the season. The Lady Vols have notched 14 upset victories over the #1-ranked team and fallen in defeat 28 times. LADY VOLS EXTEND STREAK TO 26 The victory over Mississippi State on Jan. 18th was the Lady Vols 26th consecutive over the Lady Bulldogs. UT produced the win without the services of sophomore All- American Candace Parker who was battling a respiratory illness and was pulled from the line-up prior to tip-off. It marked the first time in Parker s Lady Vol career that she didn t start or play in a game following her redshirt rookie year. In her absence, four UT players registered double digit scoring and Nicky Anosike chipped in with a double-digit rebounding night to lead UT to the win. Individually, Alexis Hornbuckle -extended her streak of games with a steal to 54. She now has at least one steal in 75 of 82 career games. Scored in double figures for the third straight game, the eighth time this season and the 40th time of her career.she moved past Debbie Groover (295) and Bridgette Gordon (296) and into 18th place in the UT record books for career assists (297); Alex Fuller Got her first career star and reached double figures for the fourth time this season her 12 points marked a career-high in SEC contests. Additionally, her three steals and 36 minutes of playing time were both personal bests; Shannon Bobbitt Scored in double figures for the fourth time this season her 13 points were a career high for SEC contests. She also grabbed a personal best in rebounds (4); Sidney Spencer Scored in double figures for the 13th time this season, the 40th time of her career and matched a season high in assists (3); Cait McMahan Continued her physical play this season, drawing two charges in the first half alone; Alberta Auguste Tied a personal best with six rebounds; Dominique Redding Grabbed a seasonhigh four rebounds and Nicky Anosike Grabbed 10 rebounds for the 11th double-digit boards total of her career. SMOKEY TOOK A BITE OUT OF THE GEORGIA LADY DAWGS If you had been watching the sports ticker on Sunday, Jan. 14 and saw the Tennessee 52, Georgia 41 score roll by, your first thought might have been, it s halftime. Not so. Tennessee s 52-point tally for the game tied the fifth fewest points in UT history. The Lady Vols 25 first half points tied the fewest by UT this season (UT scored just 25 points at North Carolina). Defensively, Georgia s 41 points were the fewest scored by a Lady Bulldog team since Individually, Sidney Spencer Eclipsed the 400- rebound plateau for her career; Candace Parker Extended her streak of games in double figures to 31, despite the fact that she did not score until the clock read 1:39 left in the first half, when she connected on both free throw attempts. Her first field goal came at 12:15 left in the second half She tied a season high in assists (4); Nicky Anosike Grabbed her 500th career rebound (502 total), becoming the 33rd Lady Vol of all time to eclipse that mark. Scored in double figures for the fourth time this season, the 18th time of her career; Alexis Hornbuckle Extended her streak of games with a steal to 53. She has made at least one steal in 74 of 81 career games. Scored in double figures for the seventh time this season, the 29th time in her career; Alex Fuller grabbed a careerhigh-tying eight rebounds. LADY VOLS CHOMPED ON THE GATOR S TAIL THIS TIME Last season, unranked Florida spoiled Tennessee s senior day with a OT win in Knoxville. The loss also probably cost the team a #1 seed in the 2006 NCAA Tournament. On Jan. 11, UT took care of business in The Swamp hanging a loss on the Gators. Tennessee jumped out to a 25-0 lead before Florida scored with 12:20 left on the clock in the first half. It was the second longest opening drought by a UT opponent this season. Tennessee Martin did not score until the clock read 11:44 and Tennessee had an 18-0 lead. In the bad news department, the 41.7 percent from the foul line was UT s worst mark this season as UT was a dismal 5-12 from the charity stripe. Individually there were some real bright spots: Sidney Spencer scored in double figures for the 12th time this season, the 39th time of her career; tallied a careerhigh-tying 21 points; made four of her first five three-point attempts finished the game 5-of-7 from beyond the arc; her five treys tied a career high and tied for the ninth-most in a game by a Lady Vol; Alexis Hornbuckle extended her streak of games with a steal to 52 Earned season and SEC career highs in rebounds (9) and assists (10) Moved into 20th place in the UT record books for career assists (290) Moved past Mary Ostrowski and into 14th place in the UT record books for career steals (209) Earned her first career double-double in assists (10) and points (10); Candace Parker Scored in double figures for the 30th straight game Cait McMahan Tied a career-high with seven points and Alex Fuller Eight rebounds matched her career-best. HORNBUCKLE HEARTBREAKER Junior Alexis Hornbuckle missed out on her first career triple-double in the game versus Florida on Jan. 11, Hornbuckle tallied 10 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds in 29 minutes of action. At the end of the game, her teammates were encouraging her to grab one final board after Hornbuckle dished out her 10th assist with 27 seconds to go. Hornbuckle just missed a triple-double a year ago in the game against Connecticut in Knoxville on Jan She grabbed 14 rebounds, scored 10 points and dished nine assists. PARKER SEC PLAYER OF THE WEEK Lady Vol sophomore All-American Candace Parker earned SEC Co-Player of the Week honors for her performances against Alabama and #5-ranked Connecticut (week of Jan. 1-7). She shared the accolade with Mississippi s Armintie Price. Against Alabama on Jan. 3, Parker picked off a career-best five steals. She also added 15 points, five rebounds and five blocks; all in a limited 24 minutes of playing time. Tennessee took its 31st consecutive win against the Tide with the routing. On Jan. 6, the Lady Vols defeated #5-ranked Connecticut, In the victory, Parker was named the CBS and Lady Vol player of the game for her 30 points, 12 rebounds, six blocks and four assists in her first 40-minute game of the season. One of the many 6-4 sophomore s highlights was a dunk early in the second half to put UT up by 16. Parker previously captured player of the week honors on Nov. 20 and Nov. 27 of this season. THE BOOK ON BOBBITT The scouting report on Lady Vol junior Shannon Bobbitt has undergone some revisions of late. In a four-game stretch (ODU to UConn), Bobbitt emerged into more of a scoring role. The diminutive New Yorker averaged 11.8 ppg, 44% FG, 60% three-pointers, 100% from the free throw line in contests against Old Dominion, Notre Dame, Alabama and #5- ranked Connecticut. Against the Irish, Bobbitt connected for a career high 17 points. In the win over UConn, Bobbitt drilled three treys in the opening stanza. 375TH WIN OVER A RANKED TEAM IN GAME VS. UCONN Lady Vol coach Pat Summitt collected her 375th all-time win over a ranked team when #4-ranked Tennessee defeated #5- ranked Connecticut on Jan. 6. Summitt has a ridiculous 72 percent winning percentage in ranked games ( ). UT DOGS UCONN Tennessee s victory over #5-ranked Connecticut on Jan. 6, 2007 was the Lady Vols third in a row over the Huskies. The victory also marked Lady Vols coach Pat Summitt s 325th W over a ranked team all-time. In the game, Tennessee had a season low 10 miscues on the afternoon -- just four turnovers in the first 25 minutes of the game but had six in the last 15 minutes. Interestingly, UConn had just 13 fouls called on them for the game seven of which were called on someone who fouled Candace Parker. Individually, Sidney Spencer reached double figures for the 11th time this season, the 38th time of her career had a career-high-tying nine rebounds and moved into eighth place in the UT record books for career threepointers (104); Candace Parker DUNKED! For the first time on the road against a ranked opponent this season and against the highest ranked opponent in her career. The dunk is the fourth on the season and the sixth in her career. The dunk came after a Sidney Spencer steal found Parker open and alone down the court early in the second stanza. Parker s first basket of the game gave her career-point No. 900 she reached double-figures for the 15th game this season, the 29th time in a row Collected 30+ points for the second time this season, the third time in her career had her eighth double-double of the season, the 18th of her career; Alexis Hornbuckle Extended her streak of games with a steal to 51. CONFERENCE CALL In addition to the 14-game Southeastern Conference schedule, Tennessee will take on teams from 10 other conferences this season. The Lady Vols will be doing their best impression as members of the Pac-10 and the BIG EAST facing three opponents from each of those conferences. UT will play two foes from the ACC and one each from the Atlantic 10, Big 12, Colonial, Ohio Valley, Southern, Sun Belt and WAC. UT A BIG EAST MEMBER WELL, JUST FOR 3 GAMES The Tennessee Lady Vols were a southern extension member of the BIG EAST Conference this season and collected a perfect 3-0 record. UT played West Virginia (Dec. 20, a win), Notre Dame (Dec. 30, a win) and traveled to #5 Connecticut (Jan. 6, a victory). Earlier in the season, Tennessee was an ex officio member of the Pac-10 and finished their slate with a 3-0 record against three ranked teams in consecutive games. UT recorded a stretch of wins over #20/21 UCLA (83-60), at #11 Arizona State (83-74) and against #11 Stanford (77-60), Nov SLOPPY WIN TO START SEC SLATE Tennessee and Alabama were the first SEC teams in action to start the 2007 slate and UT walked away with a victory. The win gave UT a 38-2 lead in the series with UA, and upped the winning streak to 31 consecutive The Lady Vols held Bama to just 14 first half points which tied for the ninth-fewest by a UT opponent in program history. It ties the Tides performance on Jan. 6, 2000 and is the lowest point total reached in an opening period against UT by an SEC team. In the game, Tennessee forced a season high 35 turnovers which generated 28 UT points. Individually, Sidney Spencer Moved into a tied for 10th place in the UT record books for career three-pointers (101); Candace Parker Scored in double figures for the 47th time in her career and the 28th time in a row and had a career-high five steals; Alexis Hornbuckle Extended her streak of games with a steal to 50 and now has 204 career thefts, good for 15th place in the UT record books. Tied a season-best in assists with seven tonight Alberta Auguste Reached double figure scoring for the third time this season ALL-TIME OPENING DAY RECORD IN SEC PLAY The Tennessee Lady Vols have produced a 23-5 opening day record in SEC play dating back to the season. UT is 11-2 in home SEC openers and 12-3 on the road. Georgia (1984 and 1996) and Auburn (1988 and 1989) each ambushed the Lady Vols in two SEC opening games, while Vanderbilt turned the trick in The Lady Vols have not dropped an SEC opener since 1996 when Georgia escaped with a overtime victory in Knoxville on Dec. 8, ONE LOSS CAMPAIGNS -- HEADING INTO JANUARY Traditionally, Tennessee teams take most of its losses in the month of December when Coach Pat Summitt loads up on some tough non-conference opposition to prepare the team for the rigors of the postseason. Last year, the Lady Vols carried an undefeated record into January marking the sixth time the Lady Vols went undefeated in the months of November and December. This year, the team carries one loss into the month of January. Previously, nine other Lady Vol teams have carried one loss all-time into the month of January : 12-1 lost to North Carolina : 8-1 lost to Texas : 11-1 lost to UConn : 9-1 lost to La Tech : 10-1 lost to Purdue : 10-1 lost to Stanford : 7-1 lost to Maryland : 6-1 lost to Stanford : 7-1 lost to Texas : 8-1 lost to Texas BYPASSED 100,000 AT HOME The Tennessee Lady Vols have eclipsed 100,000 in home attendance for the 13th consecutive season and the earliest in program history. Through 12 home games, UT has recorded a total attendance of 165,326 for a nation-leading average of 13,777. STILL PERFECT VS. NOTRE DAME With the victory over the Irish, the Lady Vols are perfect all-time against Notre Dame with an 18-0 record. The win was UT head coach Pat Summitt s 925th alltime. Game wrap-up notes -- UT shot 34.5% in the first half, its lowest field goal percentage since 31.5% in the opening period at Texas. Tennessee s.381 shooting percentage for the game was the second lowest for the season. The Lady Vols shot a dismal.362 from the field in the loss to North Carolina the worst shooting mark on the season. Lady Vols 12 blocked shots against ND tied the second most by a UT team in a single game in program history. UT had 12 turnovers in the first half and a season low three miscues in the second stanza. The Big Orange outscored Notre Dame in the second half the most points scored in the second half by the Lady Vols this season. ODU WAS A SLOPPY WIN The Tennessee Lady Vols rolled to its 11th win on the season with a ugly win over Old Dominion on Dec. 22. Some of UT s players played as if they were already on Christmas break as the team s intensity was not up to the normal Lady Vol standards. Against ODU, it marked the fifth time this season that UT was outrebounded by its opponent (34-30) The attendance was 7,108, the third largest attendance at the Ted Constant Convocation Center for an ODU women s basketball and the largest since the Lady Vols were in town on Jan. 7, 2003 (7,758). Individually, Shannon Bobbitt Tossed in a career high 3, three-pointers and scored a career high 13 points; Candace Parker -Reached double figures for the 26th consecutive time Earned her fourth double-double in five games, her third in a row Surpassed the 850-point plateau for her career -Scored a season-high 32 points; Alexis Hornbuckle Extended her streak of games with a steal to 48. Reached double figures for the fifth time this season, the 37th time of her career and surpassed the 700-point plateau for her career; Nicky Anosike Moved past Daedra Charles (97) and Vonda Ward (98) into ninth place for career blocks (99); Sidney Spencer Surpassed the 800-point plateau for her career and uncharacteristically, failed to make a three-pointer for the second game in a row and Dominique Redding Moved into a tie for 17th place in the UT record books for career three-pointers (45) UT NOT SHARP IN WIN VS. WVU After a dismal shooting display against Texas in the previous game, Tennessee came out against West Virginia hitting on all cylinders. By the time UT s Candace Parker dunked at the 12:54 mark in the first half, the Lady Vols had jumped out to a 20-4 lead and were shooting the lights out at 70% clip from the field. Parker was whistled for a technical foul (popping her jersey) following the dunk and the crowd responded with minutes of boos. After that, the Lady Vols weren t the same stumbling to 37% field goal accuracy in the opening stanza and taking a meager lead at the half. Individually, Candace Parker Reached double figures for the 11th game this season, the 25th time in a row; earned her second consecutive double-double, the fifth of the season and dunked for the third time this season, the fifth time of her career. Alexis Hornbuckle Scored a career-high four three-pointers and extended her streak of games with a steal to 47. She has grabbed a steal in 68 of 75 career games. Sidney Spencer Failed to make a three-pointer for the first time this season. MAKES YOU GO, HMMMM Through the first five games of the season, UT was shooting 54.5% from the field, 48.6% three-pointers and 75.3% from the

14 line. UT averaged 86.6 ppg while giving up 66.0 logged 19.2 assists per game and snagged 14.2 steals. In the last nine games, it has been a different story. UT managed shooting 44.9% from the field, 40.0% three-pointers and 67.4% from the line. UT has averaged just 71.8 ppg while giving up 51.3 logged 16.2 assists per game and snagged just 12.7 steals per game. UT & WVU LINKED BY DUNKS Tennessee s Candace Parker might be the latest woman in collegiate basketball to dunk but West Virginia s Georgeann Wells ( ) became the first women s college basketball player to dunk in a collegiate game when she threw one down against Charleston, almost 22 years ago to the day (Dec. 21, 1984). Fittingly, Parker celebrated Wells dunking anniversary with one of her own against West Virginia on Dec. 20, 2006, in Knoxville. Parker, the All- American sophomore took off after a steal and jammed a one-handed dunk with 12:54 to go in the first half. MAKING THE GRADE The Fall semester concluded at Tennessee on Dec. 14 and three Lady Vol basketball players managed perfect 4.0 GPAs for the grading period. Seniors Sidney Spencer and Elizabeth Curry (both sport management majors) and junior Nicky Anosike (majoring in sociology/criminal justice and additional majors in political science and legal studies) all pulled A s in their classes for the perfect mark. TIDBITS FROM TEXAS Lady Vol coach Pat Summitt coached in her 1,100th career game when her Tennessee team faced Texas on Dec. 17, It also marked her team s first win at the Erwin Center since Dec. 22, UT s 21-point dismantling of Texas tied the largest margin of victory by a Lady Vol team over Texas on the road. Both teams were horribly cold in the first half as the Lady Vols found the range for just for 31.4 percent. Texas was worst at 6-27 for 22 percent. It marked just the second time this season, UT was held to under 50% from the field for the game the Lady Vols finished at 42.9 percent. Individually, Sidney Spencer... had a season-high six rebounds by halftime and finished with eight boards, one shy of a career high. Sid also reached double-figures for the ninth time this season, the 36th time of her career; Alexis Hornbuckle... Extended her streak of games with at least one steal to 46 and Candace Parker... Reached double figures for the 24th consecutive game, the 43rd game of her career. She also had her fourth double-double of the season, the 14th of her career. She picked up 12 points and 12 rebounds in under 20 minutes of playing time. FINAL EXAMS AND PUPPIES Following the win over #21/19 George Washington University on Dec. 7, the Lady Vol went on a 10-day hiatus for final exams The team took-off Dec. 9th and 10th and then fit practice around final exams and study sessions. The last day of exams was Dec. 14 and the team also took off Fri., Dec. 15. The abbreviated schedule was a blessing in disguise for Coach Pat Summitt. On Sunday, Dec. 10, Sally Sue Summitt, the family s yellow Labrador Retriever, gave birth to seven healthy puppies. The litter was comprised of four yellow females and three black males (the daddy was a black Lab). Never know when that 4-H training will come in handy! UT DUO TABBED AS NAISMITH TROPHY CANDIDATES University of Tennessee Lady Vols Candace Parker and Alexis Hornbuckle were named as pre-season candidates for the Naismith Trophy presented by Cingular Wireless, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced on Dec. 11. The Naismith Trophy is the most prestigious national award presented annually to the men's and women's players of the year. Parker, a 6- foot-4 sophomore leads the team in scoring (19.6 ppg), rebounding (8.3 rpg) and blocked shots (2.5 bpg). The Naperville, Ill., native was a pre- and midseason Naismith candidate during her rookie campaign. Charleston, W.Va.'s Hornbuckle paces the Lady Vols in steals (3.5 spg) and adds 3.3 assists, 9.6 points and 4.3 rebounds per contest. The junior guard is currently riding a streak of 45 consecutive games with at least one theft. Parker and Hornbuckle were both named pre-season candidates for the Wooden Award, as well. SOLID WIN OVER GW After an attention-getting week following the loss at #2-ranked North Carolina, the Lady Vols had a solid all-around showing versus a tenacious #21/19-ranked George Washington squad. Four starters reached double-figures with good balance across the front line. Improved rebounding accounted for 23 second chance points as the posts were key in the paint. Individually, Alexis Hornbuckle extended her streak of games with a steal to she now has at least one steal in 66 of 73 career games. Handed out a season-high seven assists. Sidney Spencer The senior had a career-hightying 21 points including five threepointers. Nicky Anosike recorded her first double-double of the season with a season-high 15 points and 11 rebounds and went 7-of-9 from the charity stripe. Candace Parker Double-doubles elude her as she once again fell one rebound shy of her third consecutive double-double. UT REBOUNDED VS. MARTIN After suffering its first defeat of the season, Tennessee rebounded with a big win over Coach Pat Summitt s alma mater, UT- Martin. The Lady Vols opened the game on an 18-0 run. UTM did not score until 11:43 left in the first half. Martin s 13 first half points tie for the seventh fewest by a UT opponent in and their 16 second half points tie for the eighth fewest by a UT opponent in history. Overall, UTM s 29 total points tie for the fourth fewest by a UT opponent. For the first time this season, all 11 Lady Vols scored. Best of all, Tennessee had its lowest turnover total (9) of the season. Individually, Alexis Hornbuckle Extended her streak of games with a steal to 44. She has made a steal in 65 of 72 career games; Candace Parker Reached double figures for the 22nd consecutive time, the 41st time in her career. She also recorded a doubledouble for the second straight game, the third time this season and the 13th time of her career. THE WHEELS FELL OFF Tennessee s trip to #2 North Carolina had few things to write home about as the wheels fell off for the first time this season. Against the Tar Heels, Tennessee suffered its first loss of the season dropping the Lady Vols record to 6-1. UT was in unfamiliar territory as they trailed at the half for the first time this season. After connecting on better than 50 percent from the field in five games, UT s field goal percentage (.362) was the lowest of the season. Individually, Alexis Hornbuckle -Extended her streak of games with at least one steal to 43. She has recorded at least one steal in 64 of 71 career games; Candace Parker Reached double figures for 21st consecutive game, and for the 40th time in her career, Nicky Anosike Moved into a tie for 11th place on the career blocks list (88) and rookie Cait McMahan deserved the Spunk Award after getting tangled up with UNC s Ivory Latta Caity Mac did not back down. BOBBITT MISSED ONE GAME UT junior point guard Shannon Bobbitt was back in the starting line-up against #2- ranked North Carolina. Bobbitt missed the contest at Louisiana Tech due to a test in one of her classes. Rookie Cait McMahan started in Bobbitt s place in the win over the Lady Techsters. McMahan had seven points, four rebounds, three assists and a steal in 24 minutes. SUMMITT CAPTURED ROAD WIN NUMBER 300 AT LA TECH Lady Vol basketball coach Pat Summitt notched her 300th career victory on the road at Louisiana Tech. Summitt has now fashioned a all-time record in hostile arenas which equates to an amazing 80 percent winning mark on the road in 33 seasons at the helm of the Lady Vols. SEC PLAYER OF THE WEEK Candace Parker was tabbed the SEC Player of the Week on Nov. 27, after leading her team to victories over #11- ranked Stanford, and Middle Tennessee, The Naperville, Ill., native averaged 20.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 4.0 blocks in the two games. Parker connected on both three-point attempts and made 65 percent of her shots from the field. Additionally, she dished four assists and nabbed six steals in the pair of contests. She also slammed home her second dunk of the season and fourth of her career in the win over the Cardinal. Parker earned the honor for the second time this season. LEFTOVERS FROM RUSTON With Tennessee s sloppy win over Louisiana Tech, it marked the Lady Vols

15 seventh consecutive victory over the Lady Techsters. The 71 points were the fewest scored by the Lady Vols this season and the 50 points scored by Tech were the fewest of an opponent this season. The UT starting lineup of Cait McMahan, Alexis Hornbuckle, Sidney Spencer, Candace Parker and Nicky Anosike was used for the first time this season. Starting point guard Shannon Bobbitt stayed in Knoxville to take a test. Tennessee s smothering defense forced 10 Lady Techster turnovers in the first nine minutes of the game. The 19 first half turnovers by LTU were the most by a UT opponent this season. UT s halftime lead (+27) was the largest halfway margin since the opening game against Chattanooga (+28). In the bad news department, the smaller Tech squad embarrassed the Lady Vols on the boards with a rebounding margin. Individually, Cait McMahan Got her first career start Made her first career free throw attempt and earned career-highs in points (7) and rebounds (4) Alexis Hornbuckle Extended her streak of games with a steal to 42. She has made at least one steal in 63 of 70 career games. Her six steals against Tech moved her past Kellie Jolly (177) into 20th place in the UT record books for career steals (180). She had four steals in the first eight minutes of the game in Ruston Candace Parker Became the eighth Lady Vol of all time to reach the 100-blocks plateau and she reached it in just 42 games. On the first two offensive plays of the game for LTU, Parker blocked both attempts. Her seven blocks tied her own personal-best, tie for the most by ever by a UT sophomore and vaulted her into seventh place in the UT record books for career blocks (103), past Daedra Charles (97), Vonda Ward (98) and Abby Conklin (102). Also, she scored in double figures for the 20th game in a row, the 39th time in her career Alberta Auguste The only Lady Vol in history to hail from the state of Louisiana, she played in Ruston, about five hours (340 miles) from her hometown of Marrero, La. Against the Techsters, and in front of a bunch of family from Marrero, she had a career-high eight steals, five of which came in the first half Sidney Spencer The first of four Lady Vols to reach double figures, her 10 points marked her seventh consecutive 10+ point game Dominique Redding Spencer s senior sidekick had a career-high 13 points on a career-high six field goals. NEW SCHOOL RECORD Sophomore Candace Parker broke Michelle Snow s school record for most dunks in a career in the game with #11 Stanford on Nov. 24. Parker s one-handed slam with 10:55 left in the first half was the fourth of Parker s career and the second of the season. Snow registered three dunks ( ) during her career. Parker since added a jam against West Virginia on Dec. 20 in Knoxville. UT LEADS PAC-10 AT 3-0 The Tennessee Lady Vols have finished their Pac-10 slate with a 3-0 record against three ranked teams in consecutive games. During the stretch of wins over #20/21 UCLA, at #11 Arizona State and #11 Stanford in the last week, UT averaged 81.0 ppg and gave up 64.7 ppg for a 16.3 scoring margin. The Lady Vols shot.528 from the field,.455 from three point land and.760 from the line. UT forced the opposition in an average of 23.0 turnovers per game while coming up with 14.0 steals per contest. Individually, Candace Parker tossed in 24.0 ppg, 8.3 rpg and registered two dunks. FIFTY IS NIFTY With the victory over Stanford, Tennessee has now claimed 52 victories all-time against teams from the Pac-10. Outside of the Southeastern Conference (365 wins), the Lady Vols have recorded 77 wins over teams from the ACC and 66 victories over BIG EAST Conference schools. The Pac- 10 ranks as the fourth most defeated conference by UT. FIRST MONTH OF THE SEASON: STATE LOVE & PAC-10 EAST In the first month of the season, the Lady Vols had eight foes scheduled. Three teams hailed from the state of Tennessee as the Lady Vols faced Chattanooga (a win), Middle Tennessee (an win) and Coach Pat Summitt s alma mater, UT-Martin (a win). UT will seem like a member of the Pac-10, eastern division, as the Lady Vols faced three ranked Pac-10 schools in consecutive games: #20/21 UCLA (an win), at #11 Arizona State (an win ) and #11 Stanford (a win). Trips to long-standing rival Louisiana Tech (a victory) and #2-ranked North Carolina (a loss) rounded out the first month of the season. CANDACE PARKER EARNS SEC PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONOR Tennessee sophomore basketball standout Candace Parker was named the SEC Player of the Week (Nov ) for her performances in wins over #20/21 UCLA (83-60) and at #11 Arizona State (83-74). Last season, Parker received the league s Freshman of the Week honor on four occasions, and the Player of the Week award once during her rookie campaign. In two games, Parker averaged 23.5 points and eight rebounds along with four steals and a pair of blocks. In the game against Arizona State, the Naperville, Ill., native picked up her 11th career double-double and first of the season with 25 points and 10 rebounds. She shot 10-of-15 from the field against UCLA and stayed perfect from the line (2-of-2) for 22 points, six rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block to earn Philips Player of the Game accolades. The scoring occurrences marked the 35th and 36th double figure games in her 39-game career. The match-ups were also the 10th and 11th game with 20 or more points. LADY VOL SPOILERS The Lady Vols have enjoyed the role of spoiler snapping long-standing winning streaks on a number of opponent s home floors over the years. On Nov. 19, Tennessee halted Arizona State s 26-game winning streak at Wells Fargo Arena with an win. Last season, Stanford had amassed a 23-game winning streak at Maples Pavilion before the Lady Vols grabbed a win on Dec. 4, FREE THROW WOES Good thing that the Lady Vols exploded to as much as a 24-point lead against Arizona State. Had Tennessee been forced to rely on relief from the charity stripe down the stretch, it would have been a bad outcome. UT made only free throws against the Sun Devils for just 57.1 percent. Candace Parker missed four (7-11), Shannon Bobbitt missed the front end of two 1+1 situations (0-2) and Alex Fuller, uncharacteristically, missed both of her bonus tosses (0-2).

16 UCLA WAS 370TH WIN VS. RANKED Tennessee s victory over UCLA improved its record 2-0 on the season and gave the Lady Vols their 370th all-time win over a ranked foe. The Big Orange is now in games against Top-25 ranked opposition. At halftime, Lady Vol coach Pat Summitt challenged her team to get off to a quick start in the second half and hunker down on defense. Challenge answered. Tennessee opened the second half with a 10-0 run and UCLA did not score a field goal until 3:55 into the second stanza. Individually: Alexis Hornbuckle Extended her streak of games with at least one steal to 38 straight contests; Sidney Spencer The first of three Lady Vols to reach double-figures -- it was the 29th double-digit game of her career; Candace Parker Scored in double-figures for the 35th time in her 38- game career -- it was her 11th career contest of 20 or more points. No dunks against the Bruins. However, her repertoire of shots was simply amazing; Nicky Anosike Surpassed the 500-point plateau for her career -- she now has 503 career points and Alex Fuller Scored a career-high 10. NEW UNIFORM PATCH This year, University of Tennessee student-athletes who achieve a 3.0 GPA or better in the classroom have a VS patch on their uniform. The VS stands for Vol Scholar. Every Lady Vol basketball player (except for the newcomers -- rookies Cait McMahan and Nicci Moats and junior college transfers Alberta Auguste and Shannon Bobbitt) are proudly displaying the patch on their uniform jerseys this season. THREE 100 POINT GAMES In the two preseason exhibition tilts and in the first game of the season, the Tennessee Lady Vols registered at least 100 points in all three contests. It marks the first time in program history that a Lady Vol team had tallied triple digits in back-toback-to-back contests. UT dropped in 102 points against Chattanooga in the season opener and recorded games of 104 points versus Carson-Newman and 101 points against the Houston Jaguars in a pair of exhibition match-ups. SOMETHING SPECIAL In her first handful of games in a Lady Vol uniform, 5 2 junior point guard Shannon Bobbitt has quickly become a crowd favorite. The diminutive Bobbitt is so quick with the ball, she has left defenders shaking their heads more than once. Hailing from Manhattan, N.Y., Bobbitt earned her hoops rep on some of the toughest courts in the city. The guys at the famed hoops mecca, Rucker Park, nicknamed her something special. After watching some of her moves in the first two games, a more accurate nickname might be the ankle breaker. CANDACE JAMS Lady Vol sophomore All-American Candace Parker gave Lady Vols fans the dunk they had been waiting to see at Thompson-Boling Arena. On Nov. 12, 2006, with UT leading Chattanooga, 75-43, Parker stole the ball from the Lady Mocs Brooke Hand near the sideline. The 6-4 forward took off for the other end of the court and slammed the rock in with her right hand with 16:02 left in the game as cheers shook the Arena. The rangy soph brought the crowd to their collective feet in Thompson-Boling Arena again recording her first dunk against a ranked opponent throwing one down at the 10:55 mark in the first half against #11 Stanford on Nov. 24. Parker elected to finger roll a couple of shots last year but never dunked at home. She finally dunked twice as a rookie in the NCAA First Round game versus Army last season. Prior to Parker s dunking exploits, Michelle Snow dunked three times as a Lady Vol. Unfortunately, the dunks occurred on the road at Maui, South Carolina and Vanderbilt. In Snow s final game at Thompson-Boling Arena, she went in to dunk against Notre Dame in the waning seconds of UT s NCAA Second Round victory over the Irish, but she was fouled instead and the dunk never went down. Parker s dunk against #11 Stanford passed Snow for the Lady Vol records for dunks in a career with four. EXHIBIONISTS I TELL YOU In two preseason exhibition tilts against Carson-Newman and the Houston Jaguars, the Lady Vols averaged ppg while giving up 50.0 ppg. UT connected on 49.7 percent from the field and cashed in on 70.2 percent from the line. UT s defense forced 35.5 turnovers per game and came away with 22.0 steals per outing. 62 INCHES OF DYNAMITE Lady Vol junior college transfer Shannon Bobbitt is listed at 5 2 and is the shortest player on the roster since Diane Brady donned uniform number 20 for Tennessee during the seasons. PARKER NAMED TO AP A-A Lady Vols' Candace Parker was named to yet another preseason All-America team earning the nod from the Associated Press on Nov. 9, Joining Parker (45 votes) on the team was leading vote getter Courtney Paris of Oklahoma (47 votes out of 50). Also named to the team was North Carolina's Ivory Latta (43), Stanford's Candice Wiggins (35) and Maryland's Crystal Langhorne (28). Parker, the 2006 SEC rookie of the year, is returning for her second season at Tennessee after winning a bronze medal with the U.S. national team at the world championships in Brazil. WOODEN AWARD NOMINEES Tennessee Lady Vols Candace Parker and Alexis Hornbuckle were named to the list of 30 preseason candidates for the John R. Wooden Women's Award. Defending national champion and No. 1- ranked Maryland and No. 2-ranked North Carolina placed three athletes each on the list, while Duke, Rutgers and Tennessee each added two players. The 30 candidates are comprised of the top returning players. The award, which is voted on by sports writers and broadcasters, is entering its fourth year. PARKER UP FOR THE WADE Lady Vol basketball star Candace Parker has been named to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) preseason "Wade Watch" list for The State Farm Wade Trophy Division I Player of the Year for the season. The list is comprised of 25 student-athletes who are members of an NCAA Division I institution and are selected based on the following criteria: game and season statistics, leadership, character, effect on their team and overall playing ability. The national awards committee who selects these candidates is comprised of leading basketball coaches, journalists and basketball administrators. TWO LADY VOLS TO BE INDUCTED The Women s Basketball Hall of Fame announced its ninth group of inductees, the Class of 2007, on Nov. 12, 2006, and former Lady Vol Olympians and All- Americans Bridgette Gordon and Daedra Charles-Furlow were named as two of the six members to be inducted. Joining Gordon and Charles-Furlow are players Andrea Lloyd Curry (University of Texas) and Pam Kelly Flowers (Louisiana Tech); coach Andy Landers (University of Georgia) and sportswriter Mel Greenberg (Philadelphia Inquirer). DAEDRA CHARLES-FURLOW The Tennessee great was a two-time National Champion (1989, 1991), two-time Kodak All-American and became the first player from the Southeastern Conference to win the Wade Trophy in 1991; Olympic bronze medalist in BRIDGETTE GORDON A Tennessee standout helped to lead the Lady Vols to four NCAA Final Four appearances, winning two national championships (1987 and 1989) and earning the Women s Final Four Most Outstanding Player honor in 1989; one of two collegiate members on the gold-medal winning USA Olympic Team in 1988.

The six individuals in the Class of 2007 will be formally inducted as members of the Hall of Fame during a weekend of induction festivities to be held Friday and Saturday, June 8-9, 2007, in Knoxville, Tenn. FIRST ACTION FOR CAITY-MAC Lady Vol rookie point guard Cait McMahan saw her first career action in an Orange and White uniform against Chattanooga. Caity-Mac entered the game midway through the first half to thunderous cheers from the Tennessee crowd. In her debut, she tossed in four points, grabbed three rebounds and dished two assists. A 5-4 point guard, McMahan missed the first two exhibition games of the season. The feisty freshman had arthroscopic surgery on her right knee on Oct. 20, 2006 by Dr. Greg Mathien, UT team orthopaedist. She was cleared to return to the practice floor on Nov. 6. We felt like if we could get two guards and two frontline players that we could obviously put together a very successful recruiting endeavor, and we did. PETER S FOR GIRLS IRLS On Feb. 8, named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District IV first team by CoSIDA. Anosike is on pace to graduate in four years with a triple major in sociology and criminal justice, political science, and legal studies. She has a 3.76 cumulative GPA at Tennessee, including a 4.0 mark during the fall term. She picked up third team All-District honors from CoSIDA in Joins Chamique Holdsclaw, Tamika Catchings and Candace Parker as the only four Lady Vols to amass 600+ points, 500+ rebounds, 100+ blocks, 100+ steals and 125+ assists. Scored nine points and added as many rebounds against Mississippi. Had her fifth double-digit performance of the season with 10 points at Auburn. She added six rebounds and a steal against the Tigers. Grabbed six rebounds and eight points against South Carolina. Against top-ranked Duke, pulled down 10 rebounds for the second straight game - the longest such streak of her career. Grabbed 10 rebounds and offered three assists against Mississippi State for the 11th double-digit rebounding performance of her career. After early foul trouble at Georgia, came back to grab seven rebounds and tie for a team-high 14 points, all in just 22 minutes. Earned Philips Player of the Game honors for her efforts against the Lady Bulldogs. Against Florida, scored eight points and grabbed six rebounds, two blocks and a steal. Foul trouble benched Anosike after just three minutes in the first half, but she came back in the second to score six points and add a crucial three blocks against Connecticut. Scored seven points, added five rebounds and three steals in the SEC season opener against Alabama. Grabbed six rebounds and eight points against Notre Dame.
