3 Walker Named To Naismith Trophy Watch List Courtney Walker was one of 50 players, and one of just five sophomores, named to the Naismith Trophy Early Season Watch List by the Atlanta Tipoff Club, which is awarded annually to the nation s top player. Walker, a Preseason First Team All-SEC pick, is joined by fellow sophomores Bashaara Graves (Tennessee), Jewell Loyd (Notre Dame), Xylina McDaniel (North Carolina), and Breanna Stewart (UConn) on the list. Aggie Signee, Hillsman, Named McDonald s Nominee Khaalia (Kai-la) Hillsman, who signed a National Letter of Intent with in the early signing period, was named a nominee for the 2014 McDonald s All-American game on Jan. 7 Hillsman is a 6-5 post player from Chicago, Ill. (Whitney Young HS), and is rated as a five-star recruit by ESPNU HoopGurlz. All-Star Prep Report ranks Hillsman as the third-best post recruit and the 20th-best player in the nation. Football fans around the nation were introduced to s 12th Man Team when former member ( ) Travis Labhart had a breakout season for the Aggies football team at wide receiver, including three touchdown catches in the Chick-fil-a Bowl. Blair s new contract extends five years through the 2018 season and increases his supplemental pay over the next three years, making him one of the highest-paid coaches in women s college basketball. SEC Women s Basketball Tournament - Duluth, Ga. (2014), N. 5 & College Station To Host NCAA Tournament For Third Straight Year University and Reed Arena hosts the first- and second-rounds of the 2014 NCAA Division I Women s Basketball Championship for the third consecutive year with two games on Saturday, March 23 and one game on Tuesday, March 25. College Station is one of three sites to host three consecutive years, and one of four SEC locations to host in led all sites that hosted in both 2012 and 2013 in total attendance with 25,703. As part of the NCAA Championship procedures, if the Aggies qualify for the NCAA Tournament for the ninth consecutive year, they will begin the Road to the Final Four in College Station. Aggies Hosted Gary Blair Coaching Academy In October, hosted the Gary Blair Coaching Academy for the second straight year, with 112 coaches from junior high, high school and collegiate coaches attending. The clinic featured on-floor demonstrations from the Aggie basketball team, along with video and lecture components in the Cox-McFerrin Center for Aggie Basketball. The coaches, who hailed from three states (Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana) received an 100-page notebook that included drills and reference material to take home. 40th Season Of Aggie Women s Basketball This marks the 40th season of Aggie Women s Basketball, which kicked off in The Aggies have made 10 NCAA Tournament Appearances and posted win seasons in their 40 years of existence. The SEC in Women s Basketball enters its second year in the SEC, which ranked second among all conferences in the RPI last year The SEC is against the other six power conferences this year Nine of the 14 SEC schools have been coached by a member of the Women s Basketball Hall of Fame at some point, including Gary Blair (), Andy Landers (Georgia), Dawn Staley (South Carolina) and Holly Warlick (Tennessee), who are all Hall of Fame members currently coaching an SEC school. 5 WOMEN S BASKETBALL

7 Gary Blair 2013 Women s Basketball Hall of Fame 11th Year at Women s Basketball Hall of Fame member, Gary Blair, led to the 2011 NCAA Championship and has transformed the women s basketball program into a national power since his appointment as head coach in Blair, a two-time national finalist for the Naismith Coach of the Year Award, has guided to eight straight NCAA Tournament appearances, and to four conference championships, including the 2013 SEC Tournament Championship. Blair led the Aggies to their first national title in their first-ever trip to the NCAA Women s Final Four and closed out the season with a 33-5 record, the most victories in program history. The Aggies were voted as the No. 1 team in the coaches poll following the season, the first time stood atop either poll in women s basketball. Blair has coached two USBWA All-Americans at Texas A&M; Danielle Adams, who was the program s first true All-American in , and Kelsey Bone, who earned All-America recognition in Bone was selected to the USBWA first-team and was a third-team selection by the Associated Press, after completing a season that saw her earn MVP of the SEC Tournament. She was the fifth overall pick by the New York Liberty in the historically-strong 2013 WNBA Draft, and earned WNBA All-Rookie honors in her first year in the league. With Blair at the helm, has won either a conference championship or advanced to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen every year since The Aggies have made four appearances in the Sweet Sixteen in the past six years, and reached the Elite Eight in 2008 and The women s basketball program won its first SEC Championship in 2013, knocking off three ranked teams to capture the league crown in a victory over No. 7 Kentucky. The Aggies captured the regular season Big 12 Conference Championship in 2007 and continued with postseason championship titles in 2008 and 2010 before departing to the SEC. Most notably, Blair is one of only three all-time NCAA Division I women s basketball coaches to lead two different teams to the NCAA Women s Final Four ( and Arkansas), and is one of eight coaches to lead three different teams to the NCAA Tournament (, Arkansas, Stephen F. Austin). He currently ranks 11th in career victories and in the top 25 by winning percentage among active Division I coaches with an impressive overall record (.710). Over the course of his 28-year collegiate coaching career, which includes stops at Stephen F. Austin from and Arkansas from , Blair has led his teams to 27 winning seasons, win seasons, 19 NCAA Tournament appearances and 30 NCAA postseason victories.
