Janee Johnson tied her career-high of 16, while knocking down a personal best four 3-pointers. 4Seton Hall buried 10 3-pointers as a team in the win and forced Creighton into committing 19 turnovers, well above its average of 12 per contest. Seton Hall has recorded 15 steals in three-straight games. FORDHAM S STATUS 4Fordham enters Friday night s matchup a little better rested, as the Rams have not played since losing to Drake, 62-56, over Thanksgiving weekend in San Antonio. 4The Rams lost their two leading scorers from a year ago but have seen senior forward Emily Tapio take a big step forward, leading the team with 12.6 points per game. 4After keeping the same starting lineup for all 33 games during last year s run to the Atlantic 10 title and the NCAA Tournament, Fordham has seen some lineup experimentation early in the year. However, Tapio, Samantha Clark and Tiffany Ruffin have started all seven games so far, with Clark leading the team in rebounding (7.1 rpg) and Ruffin in assists (3.5 apg). THE ATLANTIC 10 4Seton Hall has quite a bit of experience historically when facing the current members of the Atlantic 10. 4The Pirates are all-time against the current members of the A-10, including a 5-4 mark against Fordham. 4This is the second game against an Atlantic-10 team over the past five days for Seton Hall; the Pirates beat Saint Joseph s in the SHU Thanksgiving Classic championship game last Sunday. RUN THAT WIN STREAK TO FIVE 4With its victory at Creighton on Dec. 3, Seton Hall ran its current winning streak to five games in a row, the longest such streak for SHU in nearly six years. 4The last time the Pirates won five-straight games was in December 2008, when The Hall ran its streak to seven in a row. 4The Pirates also boast a pretty healthy home winning streak, taking nine in a row in Walsh Gym dating back to last season. TOP-10 TERRITORY 4Scoring 18 points at Creighton on Dec. 3, graduate point guard Ka-Deidre Simmons moved into the top-10 all-time in Seton Hall history in scoring with 1,270 points. 4Simmons needs just two points to move past Leslie Fairbanks ( 80-84) for the ninth spot, and once she reaches 1,300 points, she would be along in eighth place. 4Simmons is averaging a career-best 18.7 ppg so far this season, which leads Seton Hall and ranks second in the BIG EAST. FIND THE BALL HANDLER 4The addition of Daisha Simmons has not only provided Seton Hall with an additional scoring threat, but also one of the best distributors in the league. 4Ka-Deidre Simmons set a program record for assists last season, but now with Daisha Simmons, Seton Hall currently has the toptwo players in assists in the BIG EAST. 4Ka-Deidre Simmons leads the league with 5.6 assists per game, while Daisha Simmons is second with 4.9 per game. 4Ka-Deidre Simmons had a season-high 10 assists at West Virginia on Nov. 17, while Daisha Simmons has recorded eight assists twice, most recently at Creighton on Dec. 3. STICKY FINGERS 4Seton Hall has proven to be particularly effective at forcing turnovers so far this season, with three of the Pirates opponents turning the ball over more than 20 times. 4The Pirates have tallied double-digit steals as a team in six of their seven games this year, with 15 steals in each of the last three games. 4The Pirates are now averaging 13.0 steals per game, which ranks 17th in the nation. ANOTHER 3-POINT THREAT 4Seton Hall s opponents already had their hands full with the Pirates plethora of outside shooters, but now graduate forward Janee Johnson can be added to that list. 4Entering the season, Johnson had hit just a pair of 3-pointers in her career, both of which came last season. This year? She is tied for second on the team with nine 3-pointers. 4Johnson knocked down a career-high four shots from long distance in Seton Hall s win at Creighton on Dec. 3, tying a carer-high of 16 points in the process BIG EAST STANDINGS Team Conference Overall St. John s SETON HALL DePaul Providence Marquette Georgetown Xavier Creighton Villanova Butler UP NEXT FOR THE PIRATES... LAFAYETTE LEOPARDS Sunday, Dec. 7 2:00 PM South Orange, N.J. (Walsh Gym) SERIES HISTORY: Seton Hall leads, 7-3 LAST MEETING: Nov. 11, SHU, Seton Hall will face yet another difficult test on short rest when the Pirates host Lafeyette College on Sunday, Dec. 7, in Walsh Gym. Lafayette also plays on Friday night, as they travel to St. Francis (N.Y.), and the Leopards enter that game with a 4-2 overall record, coming off a win over Pennsylvania earlier this week. The Pirates lead the all-time series with Lafayette 7-3, picking up a win in their last meeting early in the season. That was the first matchup between the two programs since Lafayette has a pair of players averaging double figures in Emily Homan (19.5) and Jamie O Hare (13.7) and while the Leopards have a negative scoring margin they have been tested early in the year, playing at Louisville while also facing Hartford and Delaware SETON HALL UNIVERSITY WOMEN S BASKETBALL

5 HEAD COACH ANTHONY BOZZELLA 4In just his first season at Seton Hall, Bozzella led the Pirates to a overall record and the WNIT Third Round. After being picked 10th in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches Poll, SHU finished seventh and advanced to the BIG EAST Quarterfinals. 4Seton Hall won 20 games for the first time since 1995 and earned the sixth postseason berth in program history and the first since The Pirates advanced to the WNIT Third Round for the first time ever. 4Bozzella instituted a fast-paced offense, with the Pirates averaging 71.1 ppg, the third-highest scoring average in program history. He also saw two players, Ka-Deidre Simmons and Tabatha Richardson-Smith pick up All-BIG EAST honors, with Richardson-Smith also being named the league's Most Improved Player. 4A proven winner, Anthony Bozzella has turned every program he has ever been around into a perennial contender for a conference title and postseason berth. 4At Southampton he took a team that never had a winning record guided the team to six-straight postseason appearances. 4It took Bozzella less than a year to resurrect LIU Brooklyn, leading the Blackbirds to the NCAA Tournament in his first year despite the team failing to post a winning record prior to Bozzella s arrival. 4Iona never had a winning season before Bozzella came on the scene, and he had the Gaels targeting the postseason within four years. 4Went overall in his last eight seasons at Iona, guiding the Gaels to four postseason berths, three 20-win seasons and three appearances in the MAAC Championship Game. 4Stresses academic success, has boasted a perfect APR score in six of the last season seasons and has a 100% graduation rate over every player he has recruited. Saw 64 student-athletes earn MAAC All-Academic honors. She scored a career-high 28 points, 23 of which came in the second half, to lead SHU past Penn State, grabbing seven rebounds with five assists. 4Ka-Deidre Simmons recorded her fourth-career double-double with 20 points and 10 assists at West Virginia. It was the third time in her career she had a 10-plus assist performance. 4Daisha Simmons was named the SHU Thanksgiving Classic MVP averaging 27.5 ppg, 8.0 rpg and 5.0 steals per game in wins over Saint Peter s and Saint Joseph s. She scored 30 points on 12-for-19 shooting in the win over Saint Peter s. 4Daisha Simmons shot 51.0 percent (26-for-51) from the field in SHU s three wins and averaged 23.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 2.7 steals per contest. IN THE MIDST OF A TOUGH STRETCH 4Starting with last weekend s SHU Thanksgiving Classic, the Pirates will play six games over an 11-day stretch. 4Following Wednesday night s win at Creighton in Omaha, Neb., that stretch became even tougher with The Hall playing four games in seven day s time. 4After Friday s night s game at Fordham, the Pirates return home to host Lafayette on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. 4The run continues into next week, with Big Ten foe Illinois heading out to Walsh Gym for a game that will be broadcast on the BIG EAST Digital Network on Tuesday night. The Fighting Illini beat Seton Hall by one last year and already have a victory over No. 9 Kentucky earlier his season. JOHNSON DOUBLES UP SAINT JOSEPH S 4Graduate forward Janee Johnson recorded her first double-double of the season and the second of her career with 11 points and 10 rebounds against Saint Joseph s on Nov Johnson 5-for-10 from the field in the win and grabbed three offensive rebounds for The Hall. The contest came in the first round of the Preseason WNIT, which the Pirates are competing in for just the second time in program history and the first since the inaugural tournament in With the win, Seton Hall advances to the tournament quarterfinals and will face either No. 17 West Virginia or Eastern Kentucky on Monday night. West Virginia and Eastern Kentucky square off on Saturday night in Morgantown. Should the Mountaineers prevail, they will host SHU on Monday. An Eastern Kentucky victory would result in a Seton Hall home game on Monday evening. Richardson-Smith scored 17 points of her points in the first half to help Seton Hall (1-0) take a commanding lead into the break. She shot 7-for-11 from the field and hit four of five 3-point attempts, also pulling down five boards in 28 minutes of action. One possession after graduate Janee Johnson (Matthews, N.C.) drained a 3-pointer at the top of the key, Richardson-Smith pushed the Seton Hall advantage into double digits, deflecting an Emily Fazzini pass near midcourt, making a swift move to dribble behind her back and avoid the sideline, before driving straight to the rim for an easy two, making it 17-6 at 11:07. That sequence came during the midst of a 7:28 Rider (0-1) scoreless drought, with the Broncs missing five field goals and committing 10 turnovers. Rider turned the ball over 21 times in the opening period, but in somewhat of a statistical anomaly only eight Seton Hall first-half points immediately followed a turnover. By the time Marritta Gillcrease ended Rider s scoreless stretch, the Bronces trailed by 14 points, and moments later Richardson-Smith put an early end to any hope of a comeback, scoring 10 points in just 55 seconds with 3-pointers on three-straight possessions, the second of which was part of a four-point play. When the third 3-pointer dropped through the net, the Seton Hall lead was 30-8 and the Pirates maintained a 20-plus point advantage until the waning moments of the game. The largest lead of the contest was 27 points, 53-26, as graduate point guard Ka-Deidre Simmons (Newark, N.J.) buried a mid-range jumper near the midway point of the second half. She extended her double-digit scoring streak to 30-straight games dating back to last season, finishing with 14 points, six assists and three steals. VA. - Point guard Ka-Deidre Simmons (Newark, N.J.) saw her off-balance last-second layup attempt rim out as the Seton Hall University women s basketball team lost at No. 17 West Virginia, 89-87, in a dramatic early season game in the Preseason WNIT quarterfinals on Monday night. Seton Hall (1-1) trailed by as many as nine points late in the second half but still had a chance to tie the game in regulation thanks to clutch 3-point shooting down the stretch. With the Mountaineers (2-0) leading by six with fewer than two minutes to play, junior Tabatha Richardson-Smith (Bay City, Texas) connected on one of her school-record tying seven 3-pointers to pull the Pirates within one possession, All-American candidate and Preseason Big 12 Player of the Year Bria Holmes, who scored a game-high 36 points on 10-for-19 shooting, put the Mountaineers back in front by six on a 3-point play with 1:11 remaining, but the lead was immediately cut in half when Daisha Simmons (Jersey City, N.J.) connected from the left wing on the next SHU possession. West Virginia went back up by five thanks to Averee Fields hitting two at the line, but the lead was cut to two with 13 seconds remaining when who else but Richardson-Smith was good from downtown once again. Seton Hall would get as close as one point, as Ka-Deidre Simmons drove right through the lane following a Linda Stepney made free-throw, drawing a foul and making two at the line. There were still 11 seconds remaining and West Virginia struggled at the line all night, shooting just 60.0 percent (24-for-40), but the Pirates had trouble committing an immediate foul on the ensuing inbounds. Eventually freshman Teana Muldrow, who had been lethal from long-distance all night knocking down six treys in just her second collegiate game, went to the line where she made the first and missed the second. Simmons sprinted right down the floor and took a contested shot as time expired, off the backboard and the front of the rim. Seton Hall had four players score in double figures, led by Richardson-Smith who turned in her third-career 30-point game, finishing with 32 points on 11-for-17 shooting with eight rebounds. Ka-Deidre Simmons scored 20 points with 10 assists, Daisha Simmons finished with 14 points and six dimes, and graduate Janee Johnson (Matthews, N.C.) tallied 12 points and seven boards. Although Seton Hall still had a chance in the waning moments of the game, the contest truly turned on a 12-2 West Virginia run earlier in the period, the largest momentum swing for either team in a very tight game. Seton Hall led after redshirt junior Jordan Mosley (Orlando, Fla.) knocked down at trey at 7:52, but Johnson was whistled for her fourth foul on the next WVU possession and the Mountaineers would score eight unanswered to take a lead, its largest of the game, after she exited. The lead eventually hit as Holmes scored on the break off a Ka-Deidre Simmons miss, and SHU s rally over the final three minutes ultimately fell two points short. Johnson was just one point off tying her career high, finishing with 15 on 6-for-10 shooting while narrowly missing out on a double-double with nine rebounds. Redshirt junior Bra Shey Ali (Plainfield, N.J.) rounded out the Pirates double-digit scorers with 10 points and five boards. Robin Perkins led Rider with 16 points on 7-for-13 shooting. The Broncs were 0-for-8 from 3-point range, compared to 5-for-14 for Seton Hall, but Rider did hold a edge on the glass SETON HALL UNIVERSITY WOMEN S BASKETBALL

Seton Hall (2-1), which is receiving votes in the USA Today/Coaches Top-25 Poll for the first time in nearly 20 years, picked up its first win in 10 tries against Penn State (1-2); the programs were meeting for the first time in exactly 16 years. The Pirates also became the first team to defeat the Lady Lions when they were coming off a loss since February, SHU picked up its first win over a Big 10 program in nearly eight years, since a win at Northwestern on Dec. 6, Seton Hall led by as many as 14 points in the first half, but after the Lady Lions opened the second on a 7-0 run the contest was neck-and-neck the rest of the way. Penn State took its first lead of the game on a Jenny DeGraaf putback with 15:00 remaining, but led by Ka-Deidre Simmons the Pirates rebounded to pull back in front by three. It was not until very late in the second half Seton Hall created any kind of significant separation with two big buckets on consecutive possessions. Bra Shey Ali (Plainfield, N.J.) drove to the rim with a little under five minutes to play and after a defensive stop, Daisha Simmons (Jersey City, N.J.) found Tara Inman (Holmdel, N.J.) in the corner for a triple, her second of the game, and the Pirates lead grew to with 4:20 remaining. Penn State used an 8-1 run in the final minute to cut the Pirates lead all the way down to with 11 seconds to play. Candice Agee, who turned in a monster game with 21 points on 9-for-15 shooting, had a chance to convert a three-point play and tie the game, but missed at the line and Daisha Simmons iced it with two makes on the other end. Ka-Deidre Simmons was prolific in the second half. She scored the first 10 point of the period for The Hall, and 13 of the team s first 15 points in the half, shooting 8-for-14 from the field and 6-for-8 from the line in the second period. She also eclipsed 1,200 points for her career and now sits in 11th place in program history with 1,201. Daisha Simmons nearly recorded a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds to go along with five assists. Ali also finished in double figures with 14 points, grabbing nine boards, and was 6-for-8 from the line. Seton Hall forced 19 turnovers and came away with 12 steals, leading the points off of turnover battle Penn State held a lead in rebounds and was dominant in the paint with 40 points on the inside and 22 on second-chances. Led by Daisha Simmons and a tenacious team defensive effort, Seton Hall opened the game on a 9-0 run and led by as many as 14 points in the first half. Daisha Simmons knocked down two shots from long-distance over the first three minutes of the game, the second of which put The Hall in front 9-0. Seton Hall limited the Lady Lions to 2-for-14 shooting from the field to start the game and forced seven turnovers in the first eight minutes, leading 16-7 at 12:34. The lead stretched all the way to 21-7 when Kathleen Egan (Aberdeen, N.J.) found Inman in the corner for a triple at 10:54. Penn State mounted a comeback, scoring six straight to ignite what turned into a 12-2 run over the next four minutes led by eight points by Agee, and the Lady Lions were only down after DeGraaf drove to the rim at 2:51. Seton Hall responded with an Egan 3-pointer from the left wing and Ali scored five points over the final two minutes of the half to help The Hall build a cushion at the break, a late surge that proved to be crucial in what turned into a close game down the stretch. Ka-Deidre Simmons (Newark, N.J.) scored a game-high 26 points to lead the Pirates to the win. After leading by as many as 19 points in the second half, Seton Hall found itself down with under a minute to play, but closed the game with five unanswered points to come away with the win. Deandrea Sawyers scored seven of her 16 points to power an 11-0 Kennesaw State (3-2) run over a three and a half minute stretch late in the second half, giving the Owls a lead with just over two minutes remaining. The SHU deficit remained two as the seconds ticked away, but Ka-Deidre Simmons strung together a pair of big plays to swing the momentum. Needing a defensive stop, Ka-Deidre Simmons striped Breonna Mosely as she drove to the basket and then calmly knocked down a 10-footer on the other end to tie the game. The Pirates applied pressure on the ensuing inbounds play, leading to a Daisha Simmons (Jersey City, N.J.) steal at midcourt. Her outlet to Ka-Deidre Simmons resulted in a foul and two free throws, but she only made the second, giving Kennesaw State the ball down only one with :38 remaining. The Pirates came up with another big stop, getting Aareon Smith to force an attempt as the shot clock expired. Bra Shey Ali (Plainfield, N.J.) scrambled to come up with the rebound, one of her team-best 15 on the day, and made two free throws at the other end to ice the game. Simmons scored her 26 points on 10-for-20 shooting from the field, adding five assists and four steals to her impressive stat line. She has now scored 20-plus points in three-straight games for the first time in her career, and is averaging 24.7 ppg over that stretch. Ali recorded her first double-double of the season and the 10th of her career, with 16 points and 15 boards to go along with three blocked shots, and Daisha Simmons turned in her most complete game in a Pirate uniform with an efficient 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting in addition to eight assists. Ka-Deidre Simmons scored 17 points in the first half to help The Hall build a lead at the break. Seton Hall led by as many as 12 in the opening period, but after Smith knocked down a pair of 3-pointers with under a minute to play, Ka-Deidre Simmons scored as time expired to end the KSU run and provide her team with an eight point lead. As the second half approached the midway point, it appeared as if the Pirates were well on their way to securing a win. Seton Hall took its largest lead, 58-39, when Daisha Simmons found an easy two in transition, and the Pirate advantage was still 18 points with 10:15 remaining following a Tabatha Richardson-Smith (Bay City, Texas) triple, one of her three in the game. Over the next nine minutes, Kennesaw State outscored the Pirates 27-7, hitting a 3-pointer on three-straight possessions at one point, as the Seton Hall lead dipped down to single digits for the first time since the early moments of the second half. Smith hit two of those 3-pointers for the Owls, finishing the game with 18 points on 6-for-9 shooting from long distance. Ka-Deidre Simmons ended a nearly four-minute scoreless drought with a clutch mid-range jumper at 1:48, igniting Seton Hall s 7-2 run to end the game. Seton Hall returns to action this weekend, when it hosts Saint Peter s University, St. Francis (N.Y.) and Saint Joseph s in the two-day Thanksgiving Classic, Saturday-Sunday, Nov , in Walsh Gym. Daisha Simmons scored 16 of her team-high 30 points in the first half to power the Pirates to a big early advantage. Saint Peter s (0-3) turned the ball over nine times and missed its first 12 field goal attempts before Hala Mostafa finally scored in the paint at 7:43. By then Seton Hall (4-1) already led 19-4, and Daisha Simmons played a huge role in that initial run. She knocked down her second three of the game at 10:24 to make it 13-2, and stripped Mostafa near midcourt, converting a turnover into a 3-point play the other way, resulting in a 21-2 Seton Hall lead. Daisha Simmons finished with four steals, to go along with eight boards, and Seton Hall made Saint Peter s pay for turning the ball over all day. The Peacocks finished with 24 giveaways as a team, leading to 31 points for The Hall. After leading by as many as 19 in the first half, Seton Hall did suffer through a field goal drought of its own late in the period, seeing its advantage dip all the way down to 12 points, but Bra Shey Ali (Plainfield, N.J.) and Daisha Simmons were there to kick start the offense. With under a minute to play, Ka-Deidre Simmons (Newark, N.J.) found Ali for an easy two, and moments before the half Daisha Simmons came up with yet another steal, scoring on the fast break with a left-handed scoop shot before time expired, and the Pirates led at the half. Seton Hall increased its defensive intensity to start the second half, and the lead surpassed 20 points for the first time after Ka-Deidre Simmons pickpocketed Antonia Smith and coasted down the floor for a lay in. Following that make, the Pirates went into a press, resulting in yet another turnover, this time Daisha Simmons came away with it, and her layup made it with 16:09 remaining. The Pirates advantage would dip below 20 points just once more, but after Smith found Mostafa under the basket, Seton Hall went on a 18-3 run over the next seven minutes, leading by as many as 34 points, 63-29, when who other than Daisha Simmons drove through the lane for two. Ali recorded her second-straight double-double after finishing with 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Tabatha Richardson-Smith (Bay City, Texas) rounded out the Pirates double figure scorers, needing just one 3-pointer to tally 15 points on 6-for-11 shooting. Janee Johnson (Matthews, N.C.) did not get a shot to drop, but she did haul in a team-best 11 boards on the day. Ka-Deidre Simmons saw her 33-consecutive games with double figures come to an end, finishing with eight points in the win, but added in four assists and three steals. Alyssa Velles came off the bench to lead Saint Peter s with 17 points on 7-for-13 shooting; she was the only player to finish in double figures for the Peacocks. The Pirates defended their 2013 tournament title as four players scored in double-figures for Seton Hall. Simmons was crowned the tournament MVP, finishing with 55 points, 16 rebounds, and 10 steals on the weekend. The Pirates (5-1) jumped out to an 8-4 lead in the first 90 seconds as junior guard Tabatha Richardson-Smith (Bay City, Texas) knocked down a triple followed by two free throws from Ka-Deidre Simmons (Newark, N.J.). But, it was not long before Saint Joseph s broke out on a big run. The Hawks (2-4) went on a 20-6 spurt spanning more than six minutes, capped by five straight points from Ciara Andrews, providing them with a lead with 12:14 to play. Andrews started at 6-of-12 from the field, finishing with 22 points for the Hawks. The Pirates answered with their fast pace, following up the Hawks run with one of their own. Sophomore forward Kathleen Egan (Aberdeen, N.J.) and Daisha Simmons combined for the Pirates next 11 points, as a jumper by Egan cut the Hawks lead to with 9:16 to play in the first half. After Natasha Cloud gave the Hawks a five-point cushion with a jumper, the Pirates responded with five unanswered from Richardson-Smith and Ka-Deidre Simmons to tie the game up with 7:23 left to play in the first half. Simmons scored three more points to give The Hall a threepoint edge, which was all part of a 19-6 surge by SHU, helping the Pirates take a edge into the locker room In the second stanza, the Pirates started off on a 10-4 run, powered by three field goals from graduate forward Janee Johnson (Matthews, N.C.), taking a lead, its largest of the game to that point. The middle segment of the second half featured a heavy amount of foul calls, as Saint Joseph s was in the bonus with just fewer than 12 minutes to play. It was less than a minute later the Hawks entered the penalty in a second half that featured an increased level of physicality. The Hawks closed within five of the Pirates with just over eight minutes to play, but Daisha Simmons followed with a 9-0 surge all by herself over the next 4:50, giving the Pirates a comfortable advantage. The Hawks scored just three points in the final 8:09, as the Pirates held Andrews to 2-of-12 shooting and allowed just 23 second half points. The Pirates outscored Saint Joseph s in the paint and had a 24-2 advantage in points off turnovers. Tabatha Richardson-Smith, who finished with 16 points, six rebounds, and five steals on Sunday, garnered a spot on the All-Tournament team along with Johnson. Simmons scored 17 points in the second half and finished the game shooting 9-for-18 from the field, filling out the stat sheet with a team-high eight assists, a career-high seven steals and six rebounds. Seton Hall improves to 6-1 overall and 1-0 in the BIG EAST, pushing its current winning streak to five in a row for the first time since December The Pirates were on fire from 3-point range, shooting 10-for-21 from deep as a team with Ka-Deidre Simmons (Newark, N.J.) scoring 18 points while tying a career-high with three 3-pointers, and Janee Johnson (Matthews, N.C.) tied her career-high of 16 points, knocking down a career-best four shots from long range. Entering the season she had hit just two 3-pointers in her career, she had four on Wednesday night and now has 11 this season, which ranks second on the team. Seton Hall led by as many as 10 points in the first half but Creighton used a 15-8 run late in the period to pull within three before Johnson buried her second trey moments before the intermission to push the Pirates lead back to six, 39-33, at the half. Creighton (3-4, 0-1) entered the game ranked 12th in the nation averaging just 12 turnovers per game, but the Jays struggled mightily with Seton Hall s defensive pressure early on, committing seven turnovers before the first media timeout, the last of which was snagged by Daisha Simmons, her third steal of the game, leading to an easy two in transition to make it The Jays ended up committing 19 team turnovers, leading to 19 points for The Hall. One of the most potent 3-point shooting team in the nation averaging pointers per game, Creighton shot just 2-of-8 from downtown in the first half and it was Seton Hall using the 3-pointer to its advantage, and not the players the Pirates had come to expect to get hot from downtown. Bra Shey Ali (Plainfield, N.J.) was good from deep at 12:12 to make it 20-15, and Ka-Deidre Simmons hit all three of her triples in the first half, the second of which made it approaching the four-minute mark. Creighton pulled within two points early in the second half, making it as Marissa Janning pulled up for two, but Seton Hall responded with a 19-4 run over the next 6:38, effectively putting the game out of reach. The 3-pointers kept falling for Johnson, who hit her third to make it 49-42, and Ka-Deidre Simmons capped off a spurt of seven unanswered for The Hall by driving to the rim at 15:37. Daisha Simmons converted a 3-point play at 13:08 to push the Seton Hall advantage back to double digits, 56-46, a crucial play that spurred a 10-0 Seton Hall run. Two possessions later, Johnson knocked down her fourth trey and with the momentum shifted fully in SHU s favor Daisha Simmons came away with her sixth steal on the ensuing Creighton possession, coasting to the rim for two to make it Seton Hall s lead would stay in double figures until the final moments of the game when Creighton made one final push that ultimately came up short despite Seton Hall shooting just 2-for-9 from the free-throw line over the final 1:20 of the game. The Jays would cut the Seton Hall lead down to four, 78-74, with 19 seconds remaining, but Seton Hall hunkered down defensively and held Creighton to 0-for-4 shooting in the final minute of the game. Alexis Akin-Otiko led Creighton with 22 points on 8-of-12 shooting. Janning recorded a double-double but was well below her 18.2 ppg scoring average, finishing with 13 points and 12 rebounds; she shot just 5-for-13 from the field and hit only one shot from downtown SETON HALL UNIVERSITY WOMEN S BASKETBALL
