The Tigers are in search of their third top-30 RPI win of the season, owning victories over LSU (22) and Arkansas (27) already. North Carolina is No. 24 in the latest RPI released by the NCAA. A win Saturday would be Brad Brownell s 250th as a head coach. In the ACC era (1953-present), Brownell is the only Clemson coach with a winning record in the month of January (18-13 overall). He is the 10th different coach at Clemson in that time frame. Saturday s game is Clemson s first of four this season against a team led by a Naismith Hall of Fame coach. Director of Athletics Dan Radakovich TIGER BASKETBALL UNDER BROWNELL First Clemson coach to guide the Tigers to at least nine ACC wins in two of his first four seasons. Has taken the Tigers to 32 ACC wins over his first four seasons, more than any other Clemson coach in his first four seasons. His teams own the top four Clemson scoring defenses in the ACC era (1953-present). The Tigers have had three All-ACC selections, including 2014 firstteamer K.J. McDaniels. The Tigers have had at least one All-ACC Defensive Team performer in three of four seasons, led by 2014 Defensive Player of the Year McDaniels. McDaniels was the first underclassman drafted from Clemson into the NBA since #PROTIGERS Two of Clemson s most exciting players in recent history are currently playing well with their respective NBA teams, Trevor Booker with the Utah Jazz and K.J. McDaniels with the Philadelphia 76ers. McDaniels ranks first among NBA rookies with 1.6 blocked shots per game and leads all players 6-foot-6 or shorter as well. McDaniels is third in scoring (9.3), fifth in field goal accuracy (.410) & seventh in rebounding (3.7) and steals (0.9) among first-year players. Booker is averaging 7.1 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. He scored 14 in the first matchup between the two on Dec. 27. In all, 16 former Tigers are competing professionally. Cliff Hammonds leads the European cast with ALBA Berlin, who knocked off the defending world champion San Antonio Spurs in October.

4 GAME NOTES & MISCELLANEOUS STATISTICS TAR HEELS HAVE OWNED THE SERIES North Carolina owns an overwhelming lead in the series all-time against Clemson. The Tar Heels have won 16 of the last 17 meetings dating to the season, including each of the last six. Clemson s last win was an victory over a 12th-ranked Tar Heels team in , Oliver Purnell s final season. OPENING THE ACC REGULAR SEASON AT HOME The men s basketball program is all-time when opening the ACC regular season at home, including in Littlejohn Coliseum. Clemson has defeated six ranked foes in ACC home openers, including a sixth-ranked North Carolina team in The Tigers are looking for their first win at home to open ACC play since a win over Florida State on Jan. 7, LAST MEETING IN LITTLEJOHN COLISEUM Devin Booker posted a 25-point, 11-rebound performance but it was not enough as North Carolina won at Clemson on Feb. 28, Booker made 9-13 field goals and 7-8 at the free throw line. UNC had five players in double figures, led by Dexter Strickland s 16. The Tar Heels had a superb 19-9 assist-turnover ratio and held Clemson to less than 40 percent from the field, including 23.5 percent from three. CLEMSON OWNS 13 WINS OVER TOP-20 NORTH CAROLINA TEAMS The Tiger program has a history of upsetting ranked Tar Heel teams. Clemson has more top-20 wins (13) and top-10 wins over North Carolina than any other program. The Tigers upset Roy Williams first UNC team in , behind 11-of-13 three-point shooting. In 2001, the Tigers defeated the nation s No. 1 team North Carolina, It is one of two wins over a top-ranked team in school history. CLEMSON FACES HALL OF FAME COACHES TO START ACC PLAY North Carolina s Roy Williams and Louisville s Rick Pitino are members of the Naismith Hall of Fame, one of four coaches on the schedule this season who are active members of the prestigious club, joining Duke s Mike Krzyzewski and Syracuse s Jim Boeheim. The Tigers start by facing Williams Tar Heels on Saturday at home, and then follow with Louisville on Jan. 7. Since 2007, Clemson has won five games over Hall of Fame coaches already inducted. Coach K was a 2001 inductee, and the Tigers won games over his Duke teams in 2008, 2009 and Williams was inducted in 2007, three years before Clemson defeated UNC by a score of at home. Boeheim was inducted in 2005, and Clemson defeated his Syracuse Orange team in the NIT quarterfinals two years later in Littlejohn Coliseum. When Clemson defeated Boeheim s team in 2007, it was the first time the Tiger program had defeated a coach who had already been inducted into the Hall of Fame since the 1996 ACC Tournament win over UNC and legendary mentor Dean Smith. The Tiger program has not faced Pitino s Louisville team since his 2013 induction, but will on Wednesday of next week. It was only the second win at home in program history over a top-25 nonconference team. Prior to the win over the Razorbacks, Clemson s only previous win over a non-conference ranked team was in 1997 over No. 6 South Carolina, BROWNELL S PROGRAM EARNS FOURTH TOP-25 WIN The Dec. 7 win over Arkansas was Clemson s fourth over a ranked foe since Brad Brownell became head coach in It was the first top-25 win for Brownell over a non-conference team, and also the first decided by less than 12 points. TIGERS GO 3-1 AGAINST SEC TEAMS Clemson finished non-conference play 3-1 against the SEC, with wins over LSU, Arkansas and Auburn. The Tigers three victories over SEC teams are the most in a season since when Clemson beat Alabama, Mississippi State and South Carolina. With the win over Arkansas, Clemson now has beaten every team currently in the SEC alignment. CLOSE GAMES THE NORM IN NON-CONFERENCE PLAY Six of Clemson s 12 non-conference games were decided by a final margin of five points or less, by far most of the 15 ACC teams. The next closest in terms of games decided by five points or less was four by three teams Georgia Tech, Syracuse and Virginia Tech. BROWNELL PARTICIPATING IN COACHES CHARITY CHALLENGE Brad Brownell is participating in the Infiniti Coaches Charity Challenge. In conjunction with the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), ESPN, the NCAA and Infiniti, 48 head coaches are competing in a 10-week round robin tournament for the chance to win $100,000 for charity. Brownell s charity of choice is the Outdoor Dream Foundation, a non-profit that grants outdoor adventures to children with terminal or life-threatening illnesses. The tournament is divided into four rounds. The coaches with the most votes will advance to the next round and earn more money for their charity. HALL STARTING STREAK REACHES 55 IN A ROW Senior point guard Rod Hall has started 56 consecutive games (and 87 overall) for Clemson. Hall s streak is the longest by a Tiger since Trevor Booker started all 134 games of his career from HALL MR. CLUTCH No player rises to the occasion in the late stages of a game for Clemson like senior Rod Hall. He has scored 31 points in the final five minutes of games decided by five or less, and in overtime. The next closest player on the HARRISON SCORING AVERAGE RISING Damarcus Harrison has increased his scoring load this season. The senior is averaging a career-best 11.0 points per game, second on the team. Harrison is second among active Tigers with 670 career points and leads the Tigers with 19 three-point goals this season. He is Clemson s active leader with 83 in his career. BLOSSOMGAME AMONG ACC S MOST IMPROVED Jaron Blossomgame ranks third among ACC players in most improved scoring average from to Last season as a freshman, Blossomgame averaged 4.9 points per game while starting 30 contests. So far this season, he has bumped his scoring average by 8.8 per contest to a team-leading 13.7 average. Only Rakeem Christmas (Syracuse) and Terry Rozier (Louisville) have more improved figure among conference players. BLOSSOMGAME S CAREER NIGHT Jaron Blossomgame put everything together in a 26-point effort vs. Oakland on Dec. 22. In addition to his career-high point total, Blossomgame set career highs for field goals (8) and three-pointers (3) while only missing two shot attempts. Blossomgame was 7-for-8 at the line to top off his most efficient offensive showing to date. His figure ranks seventh among ACC players this season. Blossomgame posted 26 rebounds in the three Paradise Jam games, including 10-rebound performances against both Gardner-Webb and LSU. The 6-foot-7 forward also leads the Tigers with 29 on the offensive glass. DJITTE MAKING BIG CONTRIBUTIONS Sophomore center Sidy Djitte had perhaps his best two games as a Tiger in Clemson s two games leading into the Christmas break, at South Carolina and home against Oakland. At South Carolina, he came off the bench to play 22 active minutes. In addition to four points and six rebounds, Djitte posted career highs with two steals and two blocks. One game later, he again broke his career high for steals with three in a victory over Oakland. He also grabbed seven rebounds in 11 minutes. DONTE S INFERNO Small forward Donte Grantham is off to a hot start for the Tigers. The freshman has posted double figures in eight of his first 12 games. Grantham is averaging 10.3 points per game and has started every game so far as a freshman. He leads Clemson in steals (14), is second in threepointers (15) and blocks (17), and is third in rebounding (4.8 per game). FOUR BLOCKS & FOUR STEALS IN THE SAME GAME Donte Grantham pulled off a bit of a rare feat Dec. 14 against Auburn when he posted four blocks and four steals in the win.
