Troy has lost two straight against Middle Tennessee, both coming last season. e Blue Raiders used their size well last season, outrebounding the Trojans in both games. Ray Chambers has been stellar of late, shooting over 79 percent for the last ve games. He has the highest eld goal percentage in conference games of anyone in the Sun Belt. Troy hasn t won at Middle Tennessee since February 4, Emil Jones set a new career-high at South Alabama on ursday night, scoring 23 points in the loss. His previous high was 19. Over the last ve games, Chambers is shooting 79 percent (19-of-24) from the eld. FINAL FIRST MEETING Middle Tennessee is the only Sun Belt team that Troy has yet to face this season. So far this year, Troy is 3-6 in rst meetings against Sun Belt teams. BLOWOUT W Troy s win over ULL was its biggest win of the season, and rst double-digit win this year. Last season, the Trojans won two games by at least 20 points, defeating ULM and LaGrange IN-STATE STRUGGLES Troy s winning percentage over the past three seasons is 35%, but against in-state opponents, the Trojans are winning just 20% (3 wins, 12 losses) of their games. This season, Troy is 1-3 against other schools from Alabama, splitting a pair of games against Alabama State and falling to UAB and South Alabama. 6 TROY MEN S BASKETBALL GAME NOTES PAGE 6 SEASON RECORDS FALL AT WKU Hunter Williams scored a career-high 23 points at WKU, also setting the Trojanhigh for this season. Emil Jones dished out nine assists, a career-best. Ray Chambers scored 18 points, tying a career-high that he set against Georgia State earlier in the season. PUT THE TEAM ON HIS BACK Emil Jones did not play a great rst 39 minutes at ULM, missing all of his eld goal attempts. However, when it mattered the most, Jones stepped up, hitting a layup with just over one minute to play to give Troy a one-point lead. In overtime, he continued to show what he s worth, scoring eight points and dishing out one assist, outscoring ULM by himself, 8-7. The last time a Trojan outscored an entire team in overtime came during the season, when Will Weathers outscored Middle Tennessee 3-2. EAST MEETS WEST After defeating ULL last week, Troy is now 5-2 against the Sun Belt West and 0-6 against the East. Last season, Troy was 1-5 against the West and 4-7 against the East. CLOSING ON DEFENSE Troy did not allow a eld goal for the nal 6:10 of regulation and all of overtime against Arkansas State. The previous long that Troy had held its opponent without a eld goal to close out a game this season was 4:36, in the rst meeting against Florida Atlantic. It was the rst time in over three years that a Trojan hit at least six shots without missing one. The last Trojan to do so was Vernon Taylor, who went 7-of-7 against ULM on 12/31/09. Sunday, February 10 ULM at ULL 7:15 p.m. TWO MAN GAME Two Owls, Greg Gantt and Pablo Bertone, scored 20+ points in the Trojans loss to Florida Atlantic on December 27. It was the rst time this season that Troy had allowed two players to score at least 20 points in a game. It was also the rst time since Troy s last meeting with Florida Atlantic, on February 25, 2012, that two opponents scored 20 points, when Gantt and Bertone also scored in the 20s. PERFECT FROM THE LINE Emil Jones hit 6-of-6 free throws in the second meeting with UALR. The performance is the best by a Trojans this season. Last season, Will Weathers and Justin Wright each had an 8-of-8 performance once. FOUL DISCREPANCY Troy shot just two free throws against UALR on November 29. It was the fewest foul shots that a Trojan team has shot since failing to take a free throw on February 10, 2008, against South Alabama. UALR took 20 more free throws than Troy, something that happened just once last season, when UAB attempted 32 free throws to Troy s 12.

Troy attacked the basket much more efficiently against WKU, taking 17 free throws, the same number as the Hilltoppers. Troy attempted just four free-throws at Utah Valley, hitting three. DOUBLE-DOUBLES Two Trojans recorded double-doubles at Utah Valley. Ray Chambers scored 10 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, while Emil Jones scored 10 points and had 10 boards. R.J. Scott and Emil Jones each recorded a double-double in a blowout against La- Grange last season, with Scott going and Jones picking up It also happened once during the season. D-FENCE The Trojans gave up just 16 points in the rst half against Georgia State, a seasonlow for points allowed in a half. In fact, the Trojans hadn t allowed fewer than 20 points in over six years (11/12/06 against Loyola-New Orleans). Troy hasn t held an opponent to 16 points or fewer in a half in at least last 14 seasons (records are incomplete prior to the season) STAYING BALANCED All ve starters scored in double- gures in the rst meeting against Utah Valley (12/8/12), led by Ray Chambers 17 points. It was the rst time since February 4, 2010 that all ve starters had scored in double gures, when the Trojans accomplished the feat against FIU. Troy saw all ve starters go for at least 10 points twice during the season. REBOUNDING IMPROVING Troy grabbed 48 rebounds in the rst meeting against Utah Valley, the most so far this season. The previous high was 36, done three times. Last season, Troy topped 48 boards just once, grabbing 68 against LaGrange. The Trojans followed that up with 41 rebounds in the rematch at UVU. HOT SHOOTING, NO PAYOFF The Trojans shot 51.9 percent from the eld against WKU, but still fell, It was the rst time that a Troy team has shot at least 50 percent from the eld and lost since January 6, 2011, when Troy was defeated by Louisiana-Lafayette, GREAT SHOOTING PERFORMANCE Antoine Fresh Myers shot 7-of-10 from the eld against Wester Kentucky. It was the rst time since December 22, 2010, that a Trojan attempted at least 10 shots and nished the game shooting at least 70 percent. Last season, Emil Jones came close, shooting 7-of-11 three times. Ray Chambers would top that performance against Georgia State, hitting 8-of-11 eld goals, for 72.7 percent. Chambers had a repeat performance, shooting 8-of-11 at Western Kentucky on January 31. BALANCED OFFENSVE Troy has an extremely balanced offense, with seven players averaging at least ve points per game. OBVIOUS LEADER Emil Jones led the Trojans in points, rebounds and assists against Alabama State. No Trojan had done that since Will Weathers against Middle Tennessee on February 17, In fact, Weathers all did the same against Denver, just ve days prior, on February 12, PROTECTING THE BALL Troy had a season-low ve turnovers against Southeast Missouri. Last year s low was four, against South Alabama in the Sun Belt Tournament. Troy hadn t had ve turnovers or fewer in a regular season game since November 29, 2010 against UAB.
