The Warriors went 6-5 last season against a tough schedule, and have posted five straight winning seasons. NP won a meeting last season in Lucas Oil Stadium, which saw the Dragons jump out to a halftime lead and seal the game on a pick-6 by then-senior Brady Walden in the closing minutes. The Dragons will have a new look, as they replace nine offensive and seven defensive starters from the 2016 opening-night lineup. They ll also be young, with seven seniors on the roster. However, several Dragons have significant varsity experience, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Juniors C.J. Faubion, Luke Ely and sophomore Kade Large combined for nine double-digit tackle games a year ago. Ely (85) and Faubion (84) led the Red Rage in tackles last season, and the two also combined for nine sacks. Ely was named IFCA Junior All-State. On offense, wideout Colby Jenkins had 322 receiving yards and is the top returning receiver. Center Austin Keele, who like Jenkins is a junior, is the other returning starter. Keele was an IFCA Junior All-State performer a year ago. Josh Glover, a starter at LB in 2016, moves to RB for He led the Dragons with 46 yards on eight carries and two scores in the scrimmage against Scecina. Junior QB Zach Neligh completed 4-of-8 for 68 yards in the scrimmage. A year begins Tonight s foe Whiteland enters after posting a 5-6 record under coach Darrin Fisher against a tough schedule last season. The Warriors and Dragons played a thrilling game, which NPHS won 38-26, in last year s season opener at Lucas Oil Stadium. The Warriors graduated their top passer and rusher, as well as their top five tacklers, but return a strong offense led by senior RB Ryan Hammond, who ran for 849 yards and eight scores last season. Senior Preston Phillips ran for more than 10 yards per carry a year ago in the Warriors run-heavy offense. The series is tied 7-7.
