7 THE LOWDOWN The USF men s soccer team hits the road once again as it travels to Cincinnati to face the Bearcats on Wednesday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m.... The match will be the Bulls fourth road contest in their past five games... USF comes into the match with Cincinnati in the midst of a two match winning streak and unbeaten in its last six outings... In addition, the Bulls have posted six straight shutouts - and 10 on the year - and have not been scored on since Sept. 24 when they lost to Connecticut (4-0) and the Huskies scored their final goal of the match in the 74th minute; a stretch of 590 consecutive minutes... Bernardo Anor leads USF in scoring with 12 points (5g-2a) while Shawn Chin (4g-0a) and Hasani Sinclair (2g-3a) are second and third with nine and seven points respectively... All-America goalkeeper Jeff Attinella has played every minute in goal for the Bulls - 1,230 minutes - and has 45 saves on the year along with an impressive 0.51 goals against average and a.865 save percentage. THE LAST TIME OUT USF won its second straight game with a 1-0 victory over West Virginia on Oct. 16 at the USF Soccer Stadium... Andre Mittoo scored the matches only goal on a spectacular play that saw him take a pass from Marius Krathe and Shawn Chin, split two converging defenders, keep control of the ball deep into the 18-yard box on the right far side and bury the shot on the low far corner of the goal in the 67th minute of play... The goal would be Mittoo s second of the season. All-America Jeff Attinella had three saves in the win en route to his sixth straight shutout and his 10th of the season... His shutout against the Mountaineers marked a new school record for consecutive shutouts with six joining former Bull Jeff Gopsill... Attinella iced the game with a highlight reel play of his own sprawling vertically and extending far to his left for his third and final save of the night, securing the win. ANOR CONTINUES TO LEAD Bernardo Anor comes into Wednesday s match with Cincinnati as USF s leader in the scoring column with 12 points on the year (5G-2A)... He has scored at least one goal in five of the past 11 outings, and a point in four out of the last nine matches. Anor had another big outing for the Bulls on Sept. 29 against Rhode Island with a four-point game... Anor recorded both goals in the 2-0 win over the Rams, with both coming off corner kicks - from Javed Mohammed - in just under a three-minute stretch early in the first half... It was Anor s first multi-goal match of the season and his second multi-point match of the year. Anor had a solid weekend at the Embassy Suites Kickoff Classic at Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers Sept Anor tallied five points in the Bulls two wins over No. 9/9 Ohio State (2-1) on Sept. 16 and Drexel (1-0) on Sept He scored the game winner in both contest s and had an assist on the first goal of the game against the Buckeyes... For his efforts, Anor was tabbed the BIG EAST Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 20. Anor, who finished the 2009 season third on the team in scoring recorded his first goal of the year on Sept. 7 vs. Stony Brook... The score came on the Bulls second penalty shot of the season... Anor was taken down driving to the net in the 73rd minute of play and awarded the chance... He buried the shot past Seawolves keeper Danny Bonomini to give USF a 2-0 lead. WITH ATTINELLA... JUST BELIEVE THE HYPE Senior goalkeeper Jeff Attinella has followed his All-America year of 2009 showing that his successes of last season were no fluke, and that he is arguably the best net minder in the nation this year... Attinella recorded three straight shutouts this season - against Saint Louis (T, 0-0) on Sept. 4, Stony Brook (W, 2-0) on Sept. 7, and Virginia Tech (W, 0-0) on Sept before the streak was snapped against No. 6 Ohio State on Sept Attinella came into the Ohio State match on Sept. 16 having not allowed a goal in 300 minutes of action... That stretch continued until the 18 minute mark of the game with the Buckeyes when Chris Hegngi got past Attinella ending the streak at 318 straight minutes... Prior to that goal the last goal scored on Attinella was by Deion Jones from Florida Gulf Coast in the 60th minute of the Eagles 2-1 win over the Bulls on Sept. 1. 8 ATTINELLA LOGS RECORD SETTING MATCH USF s senior All-American goalkeeper Jeff Attinella set a new school record for shutouts in a career with 22, including his fourth of the year in the Bulls 2-0 win over Rhode Island on Sept The Safety Harbor, Fla. native stopped two shots in the win in the record-setting outing... Attinella establishes the new mark surpassing Jeff Gopsill who recorded 21 from ATTINELLA SETS SIGHTS ON A NEW MARK Jeff Attinella comes into the match with Cincinnati looking to set a new school mark for consecutive shutouts... On Oct. 16 he tied the old mark of six straight clean sheets in a 1-0 win over West Virginia... He joined Jeff Gopsill who also recorded six straight shutouts closing the last five games of the 1992 season and beginning the 1993 campaign with a shutout. KIEFER REACHES CAREER MILESTONE USF head coach George Kiefer recorded his 100th career win in the Bulls 1-0 win over DePaul in Chicago on Oct The ninth year head coach comes into tonight s match with an impressive career coaching record. Kiefer s last two milestone wins prior to and 90 - both came last season... He logged his 80th career victory with a 2-1 win over UCF in the season opener on Sept. 1, and the 90th against Villanova in a 3-1 triumph on Oct. 24. ANOTHER QUICK HIT FOR CHIN Two times this season Shawn Chin has helped lead the charge out of the gate quickly with a goal scored in the first eight minutes of play... On Sept. 16, against No. 9/9 Ohio State, Chin buried the ball into the back of the net beating Buckeyes keeper Matt Lampson in the seventh minute of play and giving the Bulls a 1-0 lead. In the first home match, after USF had its nation-best 30-game home unbeaten streak snapped against Florida Gulf Coast, Chin wasted no time in trying to help the Bulls get off on the right foot in starting a new streak against Stony Brook on Sept After a Seawolves foul, Chin took a free kick from approximately 30 yards out on the far left side of the field (near the Stony Brook bench)... Chin would bend the ball left around the Seawolves wall and short hopped it past Stony Brook goalkeeper Danny Bonomini and into the net - just 1:16 into the match - for his first goal of the season. In the Bulls matches against Stony Brook (Sept. 7) and Virginia Tech (Sept. 10), Chin recorded the game winning goals in each contest. This year, Chin is second on the team in scoring, behind teammate Bernardo Anor, with 12 points (5g-2a) in 12 games... He had his three-game goal scoring streak snapped against Drexel on Sept. 18. Last season Chin recorded two points (1G-0A) in 13 matches... His lone goal of 2009 came against Virginia Tech on Sept. 11, the game winner for USF against the Hokies. OLALI RECORDS FIRST CAREER GOAL USF sophomore forward Kevin Olali scored the Bulls only goal of the night, and the first of his career, in USF s 2-1 loss to Florida Gulf Coast on Sept Olali tallied his goal on a penalty kick in the 77th minute of play when junior midfielder Bernardo Anor was taken down in the 18-yard box and was awarded the kick... Olali stepped up and buried the ball behind FGCU keeper Adam Glick cutting the Bulls lead to one. Coming into the 2010 season, Olali has recorded just two points on two assists last year against Villanova, on Oct. 24, and No. 21 Notre Dame on Nov. 8. Olali logged his first career goal in the game in which he also made his first career start. WIXTED RECORDS FIRST CAREER GOAL Freshman midfielder Shane Wixted had a memorable night in his first career start... The Melbourne Beach, Fla., native logged his first career goal on Sept. 10 on national television in the Bulls win over Virginia Tech... Wixted took a rebound off the left post - off a Bernardo Anor miss - and buried it home from three yards out in the 81st minute against the Hokies. Wixted has played in all 12 matches this season for USF with his first career start coming against Virginia Tech... He comes into the West Virginia match tied for fifth in scoring with two points. ALEXIS & MITTOO STEP UP Santi Alexis scored his first career goal on Oct. 2 in the Bulls 4-0 win over Syracuse, taking a pass from Leston Paul in the 82nd minute of play... Alexis also figured in the scoring on the fourth and final goal of the game with the lone assist. In addition Alexis goal against the Orange, Andree Mittoo also tallied his first goal of the season off a pass from Alexis in the 84th minute of play. On Oct. 16 against West Virginia Mittoo scored the matches only goal on a spectacular play that saw him take a pass from Marius Krathe and Shawn Chin, split two converging defenders, keep control of the ball deep into the 18-yard box on the right far side and bury the shot on the low far corner of the goal in the 67th minute of play. BULLS PERFECT ON PENALTY KICKS After not scoring a goal on a penalty kick since 2007, USF has netted five this year... In the two seasons prior to this year, the Bulls were 0-1 in 2009 and 0-0 in USF is 22-of-31 in penalty kicks since Bulls On PKs This Season Player Opponent (Minute) Date PK-Att Kevin Olali Florida Gulf Coast (77th) Sept at DePaul (77th) Oct Bernardo Anor Stony Brook (73rd) Sept Shawn Chin Virginia Tech (58th) Sept at DePaul (78th) Oct Hasani Sinclair Syracuse (77th) Oct
