Sunday s game will be the second of six regularseason home games for OSU in November and will continue a seven-game homestand. Senior Tiffany Bias is in line to make her 100th career start one game after appearing in her 100th career game. OSU is 35-3 in November since In OSU s trip to Arlington to face UTA last season, Brittney Martin recorded the Cowgirls first-ever triple-double. Bias enters the contest 13 assists shy of 600 for her career and five steals away from tying Liz Brown for third on the school s all-time chart. LAST TIME OUT The Cowgirls opened the season on Friday with an victory over Lamar. Senior Tiffany Bias matched her career high with seven steals in the contest. Eight players made their Cowgirl debuts, including Katelyn Loecker. The freshman earned her first career start in the contest. The victory ran OSU s record to 6-0 all time against the Cardinals and extended the Cowgirls season-opening home winning streak to eight games. KNOW THE FOE UT Arlington comes to town looking to bounce back from a loss in its season opener at Houston Baptist on Friday. The Cowgirls knocked off UTA last year in Arlington and lead the all-time series by a 9-1 count. OSU has won five of the six contests in Stillwater with the last coming on Nov. 22, UTA s lone win against the Cowgirls came on Dec. 21, 2002 in Stillwater, a victory. WHAT IS GONE All-American and first-round WNBA pick Toni Young, who finished her career with 1,649 points and 1,069 rebounds. Lindsey Keller, who played in 124 career games and finished just outside the school s top 10 alltime career rebounders with X 3 OSU has put together consecutive 22-win seasons that resulted in a WNIT title in 2012 and a secondround NCAA Tournament berth in The Cowgirls will be looking to make a bit of history with a third consecutive 20-win campaign. The only other time in program history they have achieved the feat was a three-year stretch from CHART WATCHING Several players will look to ascend through the school s career record book in Tiffany Bias Bias has 587 assists and is 120 shy of matching Andrea Riley for first place. She has 229 steals and is five shy of third place. Bias also has 1,166 points, putting her 28 away from the No. 12 spot. Liz Donohoe Ranks fourth with her point field goals and is 62 shy of the No. 3 slot. Ranks first on the school s career free-throw percentage chart at 89.1 percent. Kendra Suttles Has 57 career blocks and is three away from moving into 10th place all-time among OSU players. TOE THE LINE Liz Donohoe is already one of the most prolific free-throw shooters in OSU history. As a freshman, she made her first 21 attempts and her 86.6 percent success rate was second among Big 12 players as well as the sixth-best single-season percentage in school history. Last season, she hit at a league-leading 91.1 percent clip. For her career, she has 16 perfect games in which she has had at least four attempts. LITTLE ENGINE THAT COULD Tiffany Bias has been a workhorse for the Cowgirls during her career. Last season, she played all 40 minutes 16 times. For her career, she has minute outings, including a 47-minute showing at New Mexico in WELCOME ADDITION Junior college transfer Marisha Wallace was selected as the Big 12 s Preseason Newcomer of the Year as voted on by the league s head coaches. Wallace transferred to OSU from NOC-Enid where she averaged 17.6 points and 7.1 rebounds during her sophomore season. The Midwest City, Okla., native will be looking to become the third Cowgirl in the history of the league to be named its top newcomer. Nina Stone was named the league s newcomer of the year in 2004 and Whitney Pegram earned the distinction in OFF AND RUNNING OSU s school-record 11-0 start last season continued a trend of fast starts by the Cowgirls. Two years ago, OSU reeled off eight victories in a row to start the season. The Cowgirls also won their first eight contests to begin the campaign. The Cowgirls will also take on a pair of squads (Georgia Tech and Michigan State) at the Puerto Rico Classic that have received preseason Top 25 recognition. PICK YOUR POISON Last season marked the first time OSU had four members of the starting five average double figures in the scoring column. The bad news is OSU s leading scorer, Toni Young, moved on to the WNBA. The good news for the Cowgirls is the other three (Tiffany Bias, Liz Donohoe and Brittney Martin) remain on the roster. The last time OSU returned three starters who averged double digits the previous season was its squad with Shelly Blessing, Liz Brown and Althea Cox. RANDOM FUN FACT Since her sophomore season, Tiffany Bias logged 24 steals on inbound plays, swiping 16 as a sophomore, seven last season and one so far this year. NON-CONFERENCE SUCCESS The Cowgirls have had considerable success over the past eight seasons at home against non-conference foes. During that span, OSU has posted a 73-4 mark and has gone undefeated six times. The Cowgirls had a 48-game non-conference winning streak, which came to an end in 2010 against No. 5 Duke. OSU has currently won 25 consecutive games at home against non-league foes. Year Record Noteworthy Extended non-league home win streak to All six WNIT wins came at home Lone loss was to No. 5 Duke Started 0-3 before winning the last five WE RE GOING STREAKING OSU reeled off 11-straight victories to start the season. Coupled with its six wins during its WNIT title run the Cowgirls held the nation s longest winning streak for a month and a half after Baylor s 42-game run came to an end on Nov. 16. ALL-AMERICAN GIRL Along with Toni Young, Tiffany Bias earned honorable mention All-America status last season from the Associated Press. While Young has moved on to the WNBA, Bias returns for her senior season, making her the first returning All-American for the Cowgirls since Andrea Riley in TV TIME The Cowgirls are slated to appear on television 14 times during the regular season, which would mark the most in program history for the regular season. Six national television appearances highlight the broadcast slate. OSU will play a pair of ESPN2 games, marking the first time in program history the Cowgirls have played more than one regular-season game on the ESPN family of networks. IS IT IN YOU? The Cowgirl roster is stocked with Gatorade state high school players of the year with four players having earned the honor five times, collectively. Tiffany Bias earned the honor as a senior at Andover Central High School in Kansas, while Brittney Martin achieved the distinction two years ago at Syracuse High in Utah. A pair of OSU freshmen have the honor to their credit as well with Lakota Beatty being named Oklahoma s top player last year while attending Anadarko High School and Katelyn Loecker receiving the honor as a junior and senior at McPherson High in Kansas. CELEBRATING 75 The season will be the 75th for historic Gallagher-Iba Arena, which has served as the home for Cowgirl basketball since Several yet-to-be released celebratory events are in the works. Bias will be looking to return to the top 10 in the category during her final campaign. If she does so, it would mean. NO PLACE LIKE HOME Over the past four seasons, the Cowgirls have been formidable at home, winning 81 percent of their games and posting a record, including a 13-3 mark last season. Two years ago, OSU won a school-record 18 home games. The Cowgirls will play at home 17 times this year. NO SUB FOR EXPERIENCE Even with eight newcomers on the roster, there will be a strong veteran presence as well. The Cowgirls return three players that started all 33 games a year ago. Overall, OSU has four returning players with a combined 233 starts to their credit. BLAZING HER OWN TRAIL Tiffany Bias arrived in Stillwater with the unenviable task of replacing one of the best players in Big 12 history in Andrea Riley. The Andover, Kan., native has filled those shoes admirably and is on pace to pass Riley as the school s all-time leader in assists. Over the squad s final 16 games, Bias turned in minutes performances. During that span, she came off the floor just four minutes and 20 seconds combined out of a possible 640 minutes. IMMEDIATE SUCCESS Third-year head coach Jim Littell began his career with consecutive 20-win seasons, making him the first of OSU s seven head coaches to achieve the feat. In , he will be aiming to give OSU its third consecutive 20-win campaign since Dick Halterman posted three consecutive 20-win seasons from During that stretch, Halterman won 67 games, which stands as the winningest threeyear run in school history. Littell would equal that mark with a 24-win campaign. ON THE OFFENSIVE The Cowgirls return four of their top five scorers from a squad that averaged 73.4 points per game. OSU s scoring average in was its highest since scoring 75.6 points per game in The Cowgirls finished the season with four doubledigit scorers for the first time in program history with Toni Young (16.0 ppg), Liz Donohoe (15.0 ppg), Tiffany Bias (12.0 ppg) and Brittney Martin (10.1 ppg) all reaching the mark. College Sports Madness chose three Cowgirls as All-Big 12 selections with Donohoe (1st team), Bias (2nd team) and Brittney Martin (4th team) all appearing on the list and ranked OSU 17th. 7 Tiffany Bias All-America Candidate A big part of being a successful point guard isn t just wanting to be the leader, but also not buckling when that weight gets heavy. Tiffany Bias has the natural personality to lead, and she accepts the responsibility. Her game has evolved and gotten sharper, and so have her leadership skills. Mechelle Voepel, ESPN.com Tiffany Bias is a north/south point guard with 94/50 court vision. She knows the 3Ws of a point guard: who, when and where to deliver the ball. Her hoops IQ, mental prep and high level skill set allow her to play analytically and instinctively in an up tempo offense. Underestimated and underrated on the national scene, however that will change this year if you pay attention! Debbie Antonelli, National Women s Basketball Analyst Tiffany Bias uses her speed and quickness as a tenacious on-ball defender and pushing the ball in transition. Throughout her career, she has proven to be an excellent facilitator and can hit big shots from mid-range or beyond the arc. She is a fiery competitor on the court and an articulate spokesperson off the court. Brenda VanLengen, National Women s Basketball Analyst I think she is a very, very nice point guard. I think she really did a nice job of running the ball club. I think they would have problems winning if they didn t have her. From that standpoint, I would say she was probably the most valuable player on the court. Hall of Fame Coach Eddie Sutton She s a good point guard. She drives it to the hole. She s very fast. She s bouncy. We d stop her, but then she d get it to the open guy. She just pushed. Kansas Point Guard Angel Goodrich I think they have great presence up top with Bias. I think her and Smalls are two of the most fun young point guards to watch in the league, as far as their pressure up top. Alabama Head Coach Kristy Curry (Tiffany) Bias was probably the best point guard we ve played against all year. Tiffany Bias is a great on-ball defender, who jumps passing lanes. Iowa State Head Coach Bill Fennelly James Madison Head Coach Kenny Brooks She s a great player. I told her that after the game. After watching film, I thought, She s one of the best point guards in the country. West Virginia Head Coach Mike Carey She is really just a tough kid to guard because of the repertoire of skills that she brings to the floor. Kansas State Head Coach Deb Patterson Current NCAA Career Assist Leaders Player School Career 1. Jamiera Faulkner Southern Miss Tiffany Bias Oklahoma State Ericka Norman Sacred Heart DeQuesha McClanahan Winthrop Jasmine Newsome UT Martin 508 I really felt like she was the key tonight for us to control. We couldn t have her passes lead to eight assists tonight. I was concerned about her coming in. She s one of my favorite players to watch in the league. TCU Head Coach Jeff Mittie
