as they hosted UTEP in front of 1,452 fans The following weekend, GCU went undefeated as it swept Northern Arizona and Northern Colorado GCU Stadium hosted its first ever power five conference program on Sept 18 when they welcomed Oklahoma to Phoenix The Lopes finished the inaugural schedule with a record, clinching victories against Northern Arizona, Northern Colorado, CSU-Bakersfield, Utah Valley and New Mexico State GCU opens its 2018 home campaign on Friday, August 24 with a 4 pm match against Houston Baptist COOKIN' IN THE KITCHEN Senior midfielder McKenzie Cook returns for her final season with the Grand Canyon soccer team A first team All-WAC selection in 2017, Cook led GCU in goals, assists, Cook points and shots on goal while starting in all 21 contests Cook led the WAC in shots and shots per game and earned All-Tournament team honors following GCU's run to the tournament semifinal match COOK NAMED PRESEASON ALL-WAC For the first time in her career, senior midfielder McKenzie Cook earned preseason All-WAC team honors The nod comes after a First Team All-WAC accolade last season Cook led the Lopes in the majority of offensive categories and returns for a final season in the purple uniform The senior looks to spearhead a strong Lopes offensive effort, along with four other returning starters in fellow senior Kelsey Smith and a trio of sophomores in Hannah Nichols, Hannah Edwards and Mikaela McGee LOPES OPEN 2018 WITH EXHIBITION Grand Canyon solidified the first win of the season in a 3-1 decision over Colorado College in an exhibition match on August 10 McKenzie Cook netted a pair of game-opening goals in the first 10 minutes before junior transfer Andrea Martinez scored her first goal for the Lopes GCU's starting lineup included graduate student Abby Burton in goal, while four new faces including Dani Babb, Martinez, Noah Johnson and Logan Van Dine earned a starting spot Kelsey Smith, Hannah Edwards, Hannah Nichols, Fiona Samodurov, Cook, and Mikaela McGee rounded out the GCU starting XI 2
